Ryzen 3000 Leaks

Most of these CPU's sound like they're within the realm of possibility (goes on to describe the SKU's and explain why) -- But when you look a little closer, again, things don't really line up. Take this one example of the Ryzen 7, 3700x. This is claimed to be a 12 core part with 4.2 GHz Base clock, 5GHz Boost and a 105 W TDP. You look across at the rest of the table, and yea, it looks reasonable at face value. But back with 2nd gen Ryzen, the Ryzen 2700x was also a 105 TDP part. But this time only included 8 cores, a Base clock of 3.7 GHz and a Max Boost of 4.3 Ghz. So this leak is essentially claiming that 3rd Gen Ryzen is providing 4 extra cores plus an additional 500 MHz on the Base clock within the same 105 W envelop. So 50% more cores and a 14% higher Base clock. Now we have to remember what AMD has said at their Zen 2 unveil that the 7nn is allowing them to achieve upwards of 1.25 times the performance at the same power consumption. So it doesn't sound realistic that AMD would be able to put 50% more cores and clock them all 14% higher within the same TDP.

Opinion:

I am really looking forward to seeing the benchmarks for these. The CPU scene is getting HOT! AMD is really shaking up the market in a big way!

Yea AdoredTV Cross referenced the leaks with his own and made updates. This should be the real deal.

You should probably mention that there was a leak on Reddit too. That is sort of the same so is more likely to be something true about it.

 

Amazing if it turn out true. Intel dont have stuff to complete rn.

 

One thing I worry about is if it's like Rome, that all data between the cores and IO have to jump between chiplets, is going to limit some workloads. But I will wait and see

I smell FX-9590X2. We shall see though. And it looks like R3 will be the best thing ever lol, new budget builds are gonna be strong af. But don’t get me wrong, I’m still buying dem cores doh.

I dunno man...as much as I wish this were true, most of this seems like it has to be BS. 5.1ghz on 16c/32t model at only 135W? How tf?

 

Some of them seem pretty reasonable though. To me the realistic boost speeds I expect for Ryzen 2(3000 series) is 4.5 to 4.7 ish tops. 5+ is like......I dunno man. Is the shrink to 7nm really going to make THAT much of a difference? And at such a good bin rate that you can get a 16 core 5.1ghz(probably dual core boost) part for under $500 US? Holy hell?

 

Edit: To be clear, not really doubting the core counts, more the clock speeds.

 

Edit2: actually yeah I am doubting the core counts now in the Ryzen 3 range. This means that any silicon that doesn't make it through with at least 6 cores with SMT enabled is just tossed in the trash? Unless they are going to have something below Ryzen 3 to use them for? Doesn't make sense.

Assuming this is accurate I will go ahead and assume that the Ryzen 9 will fit in the AM4 socket. This is exciting, however the prices are a large increase from the former top of the line AM4 socket. I also dislike going the way of intel with the i9. They had a 1800x and called it an r7. However if this is true, it is massive. It confirms AMD's claims of doubling the number of cores on a CCX and as the happy owner of a 2700x I am excited for what the next years have in terms of upgrades.

Zen 2 isn't just 7nm, it's also a major architectural overhaul.

 

I do agree though, 4.7 is a much more realistic boost speed than 5.0.

AdoredTV has had a high average of getting these leaks correct, so I wouldn't be surprised if this is legit. Hopefully this will be a much bigger jump compared to 1st to 2nd gen.
