Host files in pc?

Can i somehow host files and turn it into a link in my pc?

Something like ownCloud (it lets u share your files and make it a link also uses your internet)

maybe something like that? But a alternative

If you want to try FreeNAS, it will allow you to create a network drive for many different operating systems. There are ways to allow port forwarding to allow access to the drive from outside the network or you can use a built-in "plugin" as they are called to host it to be accessed from outside you're personal network. There are a lot of tutorials to set up many different things. The system does not require a lot of processing power and will allow expanding storage and raid setups. I use it personally to store a bunch of movies to be able to stream them from anywhere.

 

Now the system is incredibly powerful and maybe a bit difficult to maneuver at times until you get used to it.

If you really don't want to use ownCloud, check out nextCloud and FileRun. 

They both do what you want

You could install and run openvpn on your PC, then you can access your files from anywhere as long as the device you're using is using openvpn with it's config files from your openvpn installation on your PC. IIRC you only have to forward a port or two on your router after the openvpn is done. Or if they are only media files you want to access I believe this can be done directly from in plex with a tiny bit of configuration.

Apparently so. it's just a PHP & MySQL based software so you can just install something like XAMPP and install it there
