EVGA CLC 280 Dead Pump?

Thats basically what EVGA told me, they said if its air I should try shaking the unit vigorously for 20 seconds. I tried that last night and temporarily plugged it into a fan header and I heard some life from the pump. Going to try it again this afternoon and completely reinstall to see if that worked. Ill let you know, thanks?

i've had it happen to me before as well, you could also take the cooler out the case and shake it allot, make sure you keep the radiator above the pump block so air can go up. GL! :P

Computer worked fine this morning.  But I opened it up to install a new m.2 ssd and a 3rd hard drive - which was kind of a pain because its pretty tight in the drive cage for 3 hdd and running sata cables properly etc so in doing so I had the comp on its side and standing up several times. I remember at one point hearing a sound like water was draining? but nothing leaking obviously, figured that is just normal for an AIO

but now Ive plugged everything back in and turned it on and it appears that the pump is dead. I checked its still plugged into the cpu fan header, the lights on the cpu heatsink still come on however my temps start running upwards of 70, 80, 90 c and fans ramp up to 100% at idle loads. I read elsewhere to feel for the pump vibration and it doesn't seem to be.

I emailed EVGA for an RMA already to get that process started. Is there anything I mightve overlooked? or sounds like a dead pump? Its 3 months old so kind of disappointed.

Sounds like a dead pump to me. That's the unfortunate risk with AIO's. Good thing you caught it!

sounds like a pump failing.

things you could check on is the pins on the pump connector and see if the individual wires are still in the plastic part of the connector.

maybe you have allot of air in the pump block since you said you heard water noise, it could be that during moving the case the pump block got full of air and the pump is now unable to turn because of pressure, try flipping the case and see if you can get the air out.

other than that RMA

Thats basically what EVGA told me, they said if its air I should try shaking the unit vigorously for 20 seconds. I tried that last night and temporarily plugged it into a fan header and I heard some life from the pump. Going to try it again this afternoon and completely reinstall to see if that worked. Ill let you know, thanks?

Well I finally had some time to try this and it seems to have worked. I wasnt in a huge rush as my old hyper 212 was doing fine keeping the 8700k cool at stock, but finally took it all apart today and gave the clc a really good shake and put it all back in and its working fine. Thanks for the help !
