does the monitor have a display port on it? if so, just simply use that.

I have a DVI on my monitor, but its a DVI to DVI and my graphics card does no longer have one so im kindof in the lost. Is a display port different from DVI? (talk to me as if im 7 yrs old please lol)

yes. display port is different. DVI is the big fat one. the HDMI one has two 'dents' you could call them, one in each of the top corners. the display port has only one of those notches. if you can, just attach a picture of the ports on your monitor and i can tell you if you have a display port. or give the monitor model for lookup.

so, you have no display port. only thing you can do is get a DVI (has to be dual link) to Displayport adapter to keep your high refresh rate. what refresh rate do you have as of now anyway?

ive heard that anything over 120hz at 1080p is out of the question on HDMI, unless its the newer HDMI, which i don think this monitor has... as its lacking even a first verison DP

well, its dual link as far as i can tell from your picture. it has pins all the way from left to right, without a gap in the middle.

no 1920x1080... huh... so it looks like you will need a displayport to Dual Link DVI cable...

@Mr alex is this right? cause i don't know what else to suggest... other than a different monitor at that point, one with DP or HDMI 2.0

Create a custom resolution then. You cannot select higher than 60Hz under Ultra HD, HD, SD, only under PC.
