  1. Both price are a bit unexpected in my country, Malaysia. Ryzen 9 5900x is $863 Or Ryzen 9 3950x is $722 12 cores or 16 core, my case is p360a and has bad coolers compatibility too. Any cooler recommendations to thses processors. Which proccesor would you choose?
  2. I have seen some pictures of a Romanian retailer and a "Ryzen 5 3600 AF" is that a fake news?
  3. Hey, can someone explain the high fps with low RAM speeds from this video? 1. Linus doesn't mention what CL latency the RAM tested at 2133 MHz with 1900 MHz Infinity Fabric uses. He just says it's "very low latency". Just how low should it be for that kind of performance? 2. Shouldn't Ryzens run faster at synced clock ratios? How is it possible that 2133/2:1900 runs as good as 1:1? And if that's the case, why would anyone buy high-clocked RAM? 3. Does high RAM clock speed matter more with Zen 3 than with Zen 2? (besides getting better performance with 4 sticks in dual-channel)
  4. Hello, about a month ago I started having random crashes related to chrome memory and bsod on my PC, yet I didn't change or replaced anything. After some research, I found out that it could all be caused by a faulty ram. So I ran memtest86 on both sticks overnight and got +200 errors on each of them. So yesterday I replaced both RAM sticks (Team group 3000mhz) with brand new Corsair sticks. After running memtest86 overnight, I got 7 errors and I still have random bsods. I already tried everything like updating bios, resetting cmos, changing ram frequency but I always managed to fail memtest86 with some errors. It's strange but it seems like i manage to get more stable ram with less bsod when using the release version of the bios than when i'm using the last one. On the last one i bsod at every windows start while with the release one it's every 20/30 mins. My current configuration is : Windows 11 Age of system 3 years Age of OS installation 3 years Ryzen 5 3600 Zotac RTX 2060 MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX Corsair CX650 PSU 16gb Corsair DDR4 3600mhz ram dual channel Thanks for the help ! The dump files are linked below: TITANIUM_MAX_20230201-000004.zip
  5. I've tried to Google what exactly VDDP voltage is, and I don't really understand it from the descriptions. Can someone help me understand what this voltage is? And more importantly, why is mine 0.0V?
  6. *Entering salt factory, safety gear and hard hat required!* Speculations shows a leak chart from AMD internal slides, on the next gen cpu called "Pinnacle Ridge". This could be AMD "Zen 2". It features up to 8 Zen cores, for both mobile and desktop. Desktop gets 95w tdp and ddr4. Also in 2018, Raven Ridge get VEGA 11 gpu cores built into the cpu. And there seems to be some Summit in China. https://videocardz.com/67362/amd-pinnacle-ridge-to-feature-up-to-8-zen2-cores
  7. Do you guys think it's possible that X370 motherboards will support Zen 2? I read somewhere that AMD expects AM4 as a platform to still be relevant for at least 2 years more, so maybe X370 could be able to support Zen 2, like Z170 supports Kaby Lake, or as Bristol Ridge motherboards support Zen.
  8. I've been seeing that AMD plans to continue on AM4 platform for the next few years and essentially improving and revising the Ryzen architecture we have today. How different do you think Zen 2 and 3 will be if at all? I'm (wishfully) hoping they will stay on the AM4 platform like they've said so that you can just swap out CPUs but if the improvements require more pins on their PGA layout obviously that would mean a need for new boards.
  9. The 3000 series for the Ryzen line up has been a success for AMD and I'm excited to join team red by jumping all in on the latest release. However, I'm conflicted in choosing the 12 core 3900x or waiting for the 16 core 3950x which is just around the corner. For context, I have used the x99 platform from intel since 2015. Originally I was running the 6 core 5820k until a new corsair power supply shorted and toasted the motherboard and the CPU. A damage claim with Corsair later and I've been running the 6850k with an updated x99 board for the past 2 years until 2 months ago. Turns out after much headache and time, the 6850k died without warning on idle leaving me without my system. Besides the blemishes I've had for the last 4 years, I was happily using my setup for Gaming, Editing and 3D rendering in Cinema 4D. I'd say 65%of my time leans more towards gaming and the rest goes between Premiere, After Effects, Handbrake, and Lately Cinema 4D with ProRender and Octane. Cinema 4D has been a growing interest for me for modeling and product visualizations and thus I made the investment years ago in dual 1080ti s for the purpose of expanding into the fields. I made the choice in the x99 platform for the 40 PCI Lanes to optimize the SLI setup. Unfortunately, that was also the reason I stayed on the platform for the past 4 years Luckily the timing of the lastest zen 2 processors came out with the same PCI lane support and now I'm between the 3900x or the 3950x with the x570 ASUS ROG Hero VIII. Do I bite the bullet and snag a 3900x somehow or hold my horse and snag the 3950x at launch considering my use case? Money isn't a consideration here.
  10. (Asus ROG Strix B450-F, latest BIOS, latest chipset drivers, Windows 10) Just installed my new Ryzen 3600 and noticed that it is stuck at 4 GHz at all times and the CPU temperature continually "cycles" up and down, oscillating between high-30's and high-40's at idle. The vcore isn't locked but bounces around between 0.7 and 1.3+ V. My old 2600 used to drop to 1.5 GHz and stay there at idle, with the voltage regularly living below 1V, and that's how I want my 3600 to behave. All I have done in the BIOS is enable "global c-state control", set the RAM frequency to 3600 MHz, and set a -0.05 V undervolt - that's it. I haven't tampered with any clock speeds or other voltages or PBO or XFR or anything like that. I've been looking for a "Cool and Quiet" option but it doesn't seem to have one, and I've tried both Windows and Ryzen's "balanced" power setting with a 5% minimum setting. Does anybody know how to get the 3000-series to downclock through the BIOS and/or Windows? I'm not installing Ryzen Master - I don't trust it.
  11. Hello there!? I want to know if Ryzen Gen 3 comes out in the market. Is there any chance of price dropping for Ryzen Gen 2? I'm going to buy Ryzen 5 2400G. But can wait little bit longer if the price drops here. By the way I live in Bangladesh and PC components aren't very pocket friendly here. *Sorry for my bad English*
  12. So Ryzen 3000 is quite literally just around the corner with CPUs expected to be on sale by either June or July. Listed below is the RUMORED Ryzen 3000 series lineup, so comment what CPU you would choose if you were building a new Ryzen 3000-based system and why. Im personally waiting for Ryzen 4000 so the 7nm process is refined and matured and because my R5 1600 build is still going strong and tearing most games apart. To summarize this table, it seems like even hardcore gamers could get away with a Ryzen 3 3300 and with some overclocking, achieve the ultimate 144 FPS with an appropriate graphics card, an unprecedented value that has never before been seen in the gaming community. I would personally reach for the Ryzen 7 3700. With 12 Cores and 24 threads on tap, this beast will EASILY handle any games as well as any sort of multitasking and even some workstation tasking. This CPU should also easily demolish every daily task and even provide an optimal gaming + streaming experience. In comparison to the 3700X, some manual overclocking with a decent cooling solution should yield around 5.1-5.2 GHz clock speeds, pushing the absolute limits of what any game can dish out. Ryzen 9 seems to only make sense to those who want a premium workstation experience for professional editing and or scientific work. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever for any regular user, gamer, or even YouTuber to require 16 Cores and 32 threads to provide a pleasant and speedy computing experience. When Ryzen 4000 rolls around, Ill take the equivilant of the R7 3700 (4700 likely), a nice X670 board, GTX 2180Ti (assuming Nvidia refreshes the 2000 series at some point), 32GB of 3200+MHz RAM, and a custom water loop featuring the Hardware Labs Black Ice Nemesis GTX 420 and a block for both CPU and GPU, and toss it into the open-air Thermaltake Core P3. Add in a 1TB NVME boot SSD, 2TB standard SATA SSD for games, and a 2-4TB 7200RPM HDD for backups and long term storage, and I think I would have myself one hell of a setup that would probably last a decade considering the issues facing FABs in trying to go smaller than 7nm. So what do you guys think? Lets hear those build ideas!
  13. Hey there! I am in the market for a cheap budget option for upgrading the basis of my computer. (CPU, Mobo, RAM) I currently have: 1. AMD Athlon X4 880k (Surprisingly a very nifty processor) 2. The A Chipset motherboard 3. 8Gb DDR3 Memory. I have resorted to Ryzen 3 1200 as my very first option. I don't have much hands on experience with the 300 chipset motherboards and which ones perform at a low price. I have found cheap DDR4 memory locally for $25 (Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x4 Gb). I have figured this would better set myself up in the future since rumor has it that most motherboard companies will continue releasing bios updates to support the new Zen 2 processors. Leave any comments down below and suggestions. Thanks!
  14. Because X570 & Zen 2/7nm will make a big splash , and many people on older platforms (i.e. before 7th gen intel, and perhaps zen 1) might decide to upgrade, and there will be a huge amount of motherboards, and it may be hard to decide which one is the best. This is now in Beta, as I have many details on lots of X570 boards I will continue to update this, and if any of you want to help me with this, please send me a PM. Your help will be greatly appreciated, as this is a daunting task. Information with a (?) next to it signifies that I am unsure of the information. VRM info with a (?) means that I counted inductors (yes, I know, a bad thing to do, but a 12+2 phase vrm will have 14 inductors, and a 8 phase vrm will have 8.), and guessed on the VCPU and the Vsoc ratio. What I hope this will be useful for, is say you have 200$, and want a X570 motherboard. You can make a copy of the list, and delete all motherboards that are too expensive (i.e. 220$ or above), and ones that are too cheap (i.e. sub 150$). Then, you see that you have mobo A, B, and C. A and B might have better VRMs than C, but C might have more usb and better wifi. Thus, you can decide whether A is better than B, or C. THIS IS NOT A TIER LIST, Board rankings are by alphabetical and placement in their product stacks. After this is mostly completed, I might make a X570 tier list, with the help of others, as ranking imo is very much based on opinion, thus having multiple opinions and reaching a consensus on a tier list is very important. The key is on the first page, feel free to comment suggestions and questions. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1j4X6MKRqaqgn2wbQnHzOfqV145F175Irz_N145KJHM8/edit?usp=sharing Thanks!
  15. Firstly, Hi... Just signed up after watching many of Linus' Youtube vids and thought this would be a good community to come to for some thoughts and advice. Unnecessary Info I built a PC when I was starting Uni back in about 2013, pretty much stopped using it when I left Uni in 2016 but recently decided to boot it up and see how she's doing... somewhat surprisingly (after re-seating some components because it was boot looping) she works. But not really anywhere near what I'd call acceptable in 2019. Original Spec; CPU: i5 - 3570k MoBo: Gigabyte B75m - D3H (This wasn't original, it was a backup as the original died and I never bothered buying a new one... dont remember the original model) Cooler: Corsair H100i RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR3 16GB (4 x 4GB) @ 1600Mhz PSU: OCZ-ZX850W (850 Watt 80 Plus Gold) Storage: Some random HDD's ... 500GB & 1TB GPU: GTX 770 (Now sold and using a GTX 650 I found laying around the house) Never did OC the CPU cause the MoBo is too basic, so yes the H100i is basically useless! Necessary Info So now I'm looking to get a solid upgrade that's much more coherent and thought out than the previous. Usage is like: 50% Video/Photo Editing - 25% Gaming - 25% Browsing. Budget £1000... for simplicity's sake (For essential components & case, not incl. GPU/PSU) - Realistically though I'm flexible, I'll likely be buying components bit by bit (like £200/month) so if it's more expensive it'll just take longer to build. Realistically I want a base, working machine ASAP (3-4 months) cause I'm impatient and all that. Location UK... As you may have guessed by currency used in budgeting. Aim Though the bulk of use for this machine would be video editing, I'd like it to be capable of playing AAA games at mid-high settings. Though I'm in no rush to get a GPU so happy to get like a £200 GPU then upgrade further down the line on that one. Monitors Currently only running one 1080p monitor, in no rush to upgrade it just yet but I will be shopping around. Probably looking at a 4K colour accurate ~27" monitor for video editing. Peripherals Dont *need* to upgrade peripherals but after the PC is built I'll be looking at Corsair M65 Elite mouse and Corsair K70 MK.2 Keyboard. WHY? A few reasons, the machine is fairly outdated in general. My Mobo is useless so I can't OC, and Mobo's with this socket are hard to get and probably a waste of money at this point. So if I buy a new MoBo I'll need a new CPU anyway, and DDR4 RAM, I'd want an SSD cause obvious reasons (I don't want to use my old drives in-case I downloaded anything dodgy on them. My case used to be white but has now yellowed so that needs an update. I believe the PSU is fine though to be honest, I never really overworked this machine too hard, and it's been sitting dormant for a long time so I'm fairly confident I can continue using my existing PSU. Until I need more power of course. So yeah, may as well build a practically whole new machine. BONUS I want this thing to look the shit, like most people would I imagine. So I'm pretty bought into the Corsair RGB eco-system (LL120 fans and the RGB peripherals) mixed with the Asus 'eco-system' (Essentially I've primarily been looking at Asus boards) So based on all that - I've come up with the following components in the attached picture. Not yet decided on a GPU. Ultimately I'd probably invest in an RTX 2080ti if and when I can afford one. For now I'll take recommendations on a like ~£200 card that'll hopefully allow me to play AAA titles at mid-high settings. Sooooooooo... thoughts? Oh yeah, I already bought the RAM cause it seemed a good price on Amazon...
  16. So we all know that AMD's Ryzen 3000 launch was about as successful as anyone could ever realistically expect. It was amazing and AMD completely shook up the entire Desktop CPU industry for consumers. As JaysTwoCents recently said, 2019 is certainly the best year ever for PC enthusiasts. You can now get more value for your money than ever before. Ryzen 3000 shows us that AMD's IPC is now superior to Intel thanks to AMD now matching or even beating Intel in Single-Thread performance, despite much lower clock speeds. With Ryzen 3000 being such a game changer, I can't AMD needing to really aim for such a big showing next year, and I am pretty sure that they won't. AMD's own roadmap shows that 2020's scheduled release is going to be "Zen 2+", which is supposed to be a simple optimization of the 7nm process, becoming "7nm+". However, I am still choosing to wait for it for a reason. The only slight dissapointment I have with Ryzen 3000 is the slightly dissapointing clock speeds and overclocking ability. Im sure most enthusiasts feel the same way. This makes me feel AMD will focus on a simple 1-3% IPC buff with their main focus probably being on clock speeds and overclocking ability, because it is what would make the most sense. Imhoping that AMD will push for 4.5GHz All-Core or 4.8+GHz Single-Core speed rather than efficiency/lower TDP as 105W is already incredible as is for a 12 Core/24 Thread chip. What are your thoughts on possibilities for Ryzen 4000? What are you hoping for?
  17. How much of a difference would 3600Mhz make to 3200Mhz? Currently Amazon Canada has 16gb of Trident Z RGB (CL16-18-18-38 Timing) for $117.99 + tax (CAD) while the 3600Mhz version (18-22-22-42) is going for $153.99 + tax on Canada Computers. I've heard a lot that Zen 2 on X570 is better off with 3600, but how much of a difference would it make (yes ik the 3600 has a higher cas latency).
  18. So, starting from the prices. Where i live, the Ryzen 7 3700X and the i7 9700K have the same price. 370 euros. But the cheapest x570 motherboard is 180 euros and the cheapest, decent, 3600mhz 16gb kit (the best for the 1800mhz of the infinty fabric) is 110 euros. That comes out to 660 euros. Now let's go to Intel. A good Z390 is aound 130 euros, and since any ram is good basically, it goes to 8 euros for the ram. Comes out to 580 euros. And looking at some benchmarks, Intel seems to be better than AMD for gaming YET AGAIN. (gaming is my main focus, and i dont care about a couple more seconds in rendering videos. So why should i buy AMD? For the PCI 4.0 i'll never use? For some more threads? 80 euros more for less performance? I'm not sure about getting Zen 2 anymore
  19. I won't be doing this immediately but later down the line I'm thinking about getting a 3800X . I've already upped my BIOS in my Gigabyte Aorus Gaming 5 x370 board and according to the support site it will support the latest Ryzen 3000 (Zen 2) CPUs with the BIOS update. I was wondering if anyone else with a x370 board has done the same or run into issues?
  20. It's currently Amazon Prime day here in the UK... hey, that ryhmed. As I have Amazon Prime Student, I have the added luxury of getting cheap things, even cheaper. Thus I put forward the question... Is it worth sacrifcing the IPC gains of Zen 2 and saving £80 on the CPU, and rather putting this saved cash towards a better GPU instead? Had this deal not come along, I would have happily waited until black friday or nearer christmas to upgrade my PC. Currently, I flaunt an overclocked AMD FX 6300 based system, and a GTX 1050 Ti. As some of you may have already assumed, I'm not a competitive gamer, but instead, a filthy casual. Therefore, I have thoughts in the back of my head saying... "you don't need to upgrade yet, you don't do much beyond binging Netflix and YouTube." And the games I do play... well... Rocket League, GTA V, Forza Horizon 4, Watchdogs 2; my system handles fine. So would I be upgrading for the sake of ridding my life of FX? Hmmmm, maybe. I do enjoy making videos and short films, and my current system is just about able to deliver a smooth enough timeline scurbbing experience in Davinci Resolve... but only just; and it would be nicer to have zero hickups in the process. But, the justifcation for spending £450-£500 to upgrade my system is a lot to handle, although I woudn't feel too bad about it, as I have had the barebones of my current system for 6 years; since building the original in 2013. Any help with this deeply first world problem would be appreciated. -- TPigg
  21. Hi guys, after tinkering for a few days, I think it's best I grab a sanity check with the wider internet to see if this behaviour is normal or consistent behaviour for the R5 3600 So I finally upgraded my pc to the R5 3600 running 32GB 3200MHz C16 on a Gigabyte Arorus Pro WiFi. Basically the maximum score I ever got on this particular CPU was about 3400 I'm cinebench 20 and that was straight stock from a fresh install running 2133 Ram. Once I start installing the drivers motherboard various, ghub, synapse icue etc) the score dropped to about 3200 even after enabling xmp and turning pbo+AOC on. Tweaking further meant I was only able to net right now a max of 3300 points tops. I'm running this on water (fluid gaming 240 + 360 + gpu) with temps barely touching 71 degrees and the all core frequency around 4-4.05GHz and the single core frequency at peak 4.175GHz (mostly about 4.15 or 4.125GHz) So my 2 main questions is 1) do background tasks have the ability to affect cinebench scores by so much ? 2) do the scores represent a potentially faulty or underperforming CPU? Thanks in advance for any help or tips or direction you guys can point me in!
  22. My current specs is: I7 7700 GTX 1080ti sc 2 2x8 GB ram hyperx 2400mhz ddr4 Basic gigabyte mobo 600w corsair PSU 240gb ssd 4t HD 7200rpm I already have a gigabyte B450 gaming mobo on my secondary PC rocking a ryzen 7 2700 that i got for the price of a ryzen 5. Is it Worth it for me to switch my I7 7700 for a ryzen 7 3700x ? ( i game on 2560x1080 144hz )
  23. RTC bug still prevalent for AMD Zen 2, which can alter the system's perception of time. Tom's Hardware Article

Please note that ES chips generally are clocked lower, so this doesn't rule out higher clockspeeds as of yet. Although, current speeds aren't too terrible for the amount of cores being offered. At least a 200-300MHz clockspeed boost could be plausible in final samples. As for the memory; this is great and with higher speed kits of ram, combined with the IF - will show some serious gains. Especially considering that we currently are seeing Ryzen top out at around 3000MHz. I cannot even imagine what performance gains with a 5000MHz kit would look like! SiSoftware Benches:
  25. I've found a 4c/4t CPU titled AMD Eng Sample: 2D2204BGMCWH2_33/29_N, I believe that this is similar to the 12c/24t leaked benchmark thanks to the name of the sample, here are the results: Im not sure if these are legitimate results but they are impressive when thought about that way
