Anyone know if it's possible to get Windows booting from nvme on Intel Z77 platform? Once Windows is booted it can access the nvme disk fine but it won't boot from it. I tried putting the bootloader on a SATA SSD and had windows partition on the nvme but Windows crashes/bsod. Motherboard is ASUS Z77M-Pro with latest UEFI

Just got back some old tech for my brother-in-law I let him use for a few years. Decided I'm going to make a server out of it for my friend and I to play Minecraft, ark, Gmod, and some other only stuff on. i7-3770k on water ASRock Z77 fatal1tly professional (bios rev1.7) Corsair vengeance ddr3 1333mhz 16gb Radeon 580 8gb 1Tb Sandisk ssd 750 watt Corsair PSU Used Case Got a clean boot and fresh install of window 10 (version 21h2) but when I got to the windows set up screen I didn't have internet, cable is good, and the activity lights lit up. Bypassed it and did a no internet install no issue. But it looks like windows cant find drivers for the Broadcom BCM57781 lan hardware. I checked ASRock's website and they don't have win 10 drivers posted, 7 & 8.1 but no 10. Put in a ticket to talk to someone at ASRock but all I've been getting for the last 2 days is repetitive 1 one sentence responses that don't answer the questions I'm asking. Does anyone know if broadcom still supports this hardware? Or has win 10 driver for these chips it seem dumb to me that a top of the line motherboard was unable to function on a new Win os 3 years after it launched. I thought maybe the chip was fried, but it shows up in device manager as an unknown needing drivers. And yes I know I could just go with an add in card. That's what Pablo the ASRock rep has said three times but I want the board like it should. Thank you too anyone taking the time to read this, and sorry for any spelling mistakes.

So, basically I bought an ASUS P8Z77-V Deluxe a few days ago, that came with an ASUS Wifi Go card already attached. Sadly it didn't have any antenna for either Wifi or BT. I tried searching for replacement antenna but I cant find out what connector it uses. The wifi connections do show up in windows, but only if the router is a few feet away. The only website I can buy from is AliExpress because Amazon, newegg, etc don't ship to my country. The card:

Hey guys I have an issue with a board I bought my brother about a year ago. Its a MSI z77a-g41. Ive had it sitting off for a few months after I last cleaned it. I built him a new system. The issue is now I was going to sell it to some people that just needed a basic computer. I booted it up with some new drives. I wanted to get in the bios to check everything was working right. I got a error code of A2 which means a drive wasn't being detected or the cable was messed up. I unplugged all sata devices and reset the cmos to be sure I could get into the bios. I get to the setup screen and press f2 to enter setup. It shows the line for entering setup then freezes and the cpu fan proceeds to ramp up as if it was under heavy load. I had an issue with this board before because of this but it turned out to be the E-sata port on the case not the board itself. Help would be appreciated. If it is the Bios any other ways of reflashing the bios would be appreciated. I currently cant get into the bios after doing enter setup. The board itself doesnt show any physical damage. Unless its under the Hyper 212 evo. I cleaned the system with a datavac before I tried doing anything. That was about a month ago now though. The system sat unpowered for most of that time. Thank you in advance for any input. If I have to replace the board I can source one its just going to put my behind getting this finished gain. If anyone as well has a z77 grade board they would like to get rid of I'll by it older hardware like this is a little hard to come by from where I live currently. Hey guys, I currently own a Z7 based system with a 3770K CPU. I am a storage hog, so need a board with tons of SATA ports on it as I hate external storage, lost too many to count. I have been searching for days, only to find out that none of my favourite OEMs make such a board. ASUS has 10 to 12 at most, Gigabyte 10 etc... AsRock Z77 Extreme11 As it turns out only AsRock seem to think of people like me. Only this board is hard to find locally. I have to order it online which will cost quite a bundle for a few generations old board. Is this boaed any good ? Has anyone tried AsRock before ? I have no idea if this brand is any good since I have never used them. I only know of Intel, ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI and the likes. Anyone know of another brand that makes boards with Storage in mind like AsRock ? Thanks ;)

Morning all, I had questions about RAID and redundancy. Sorry if this has been asked before. First off, setup: I7-3770, P8Z77-V LK Asus Motherboard, 8GB DDR3, GTX 1660 Super, 3x8TB Seagate drives(not NAS rated) 1x5TB Seagate Drive, 240GB Kingston SSD. Use of setup: Only running Plex and a file server-DNLA(in case i want to transfer uncompressed movie/show files to phone, I do this often). 1x8TB holds all my media. 1x8TB is blank, 1x8TB is an external drive that I backup manually with my media drive( would love to automate this). 1x5Tb is used for downloading media and converting if necessary so i do not bottleneck/wear out media drive needlessly. SSD is for OS(WIN 10 PRO) Plex Metadata is also saved on this. Want: In the end of all this i would like to have a Raid 1 or something similar to automatically backup my media drive( I would like Raid 1 just for the speed benefits of downloading media off of it more quickly). As well as having my current 8TB external drive backup automatically( I do not want Seagates tiered backup file system, I just want the current file backed up to look exactly like my Media drive.) Question: I have heard and seen on this forum that a lot of people tend to steer away from RAID due to issues with motherboard compatibility and or errors that cause the drive to be useless. What is your guys thoughts? I am just tired of manually backup up drives. I am currently trying to use Software Mirror via Disk MGMT and it is currently at 45% Resyncing the 2x8TB drive (they were freshly formatted before mirror started). Is this the best option for what I have? A lot of people i have seen steered away from motherboard RAID, just because if the motherboard died you might be in deep shit. P:S: If i had all my ducks in a row, I would like to have 4x8TB (or bigger ) 2 sets of raid 1. One pair for Movies and the second pair with TV shows.

Hello all, Recently I have thought about the components which I would like (hope not so soon as the current PC would keep it still rolling), but would like to buy at least in late 2020. My current desktop PC is 7 years old and serves me really good, at while in a good condition too. Mostly, I use it for Web, multimedia, programming (Android, Websites, etc.), few Hyper-V virtual machines have on it an run when needed, hackintosh also (watched your channel how to make your own one), use for graphics editing and from time to time video editing when needed. Some times I play few games like Watch Dogs 2, Counter Strike series and Euro Truck Simulator 2. Regarding the budget, I can go at least up to 900$ for a new one, but I truly believe it can cost much lower, just do not know what to pick from the manufacturers, regarding performance, stability, duration, etc. Currently I am using: - MSI Z77A-G45 - Intel i7-3770 (stock clock, never overclocked, only stock speeds/clocks) - 4x 8GB Corsair value ram (total of 32GB) DDR3 1600Mhz (dual-channel, nver overclocked, only stock speed/clocks) - MSI Nvidia GTX 1080 Gaming X 8GB (never clocked, only stock speed/clock, never used for mining) - 1x Crucial MX series 250GB SSD (daily usage, up to 14 hours, not even 50% load) - 2x 1TB Toshiba 7200rpm (backup, archive, 5% usage over a year period) - 1x 1TB Western Digital 5400rpm (backup, archive, 5% usage over a year period) - 1x 2TB Western Digital 5400rpm (daily usage, up to 8 hours, not even 50% load) - PSU is Antec 650W - LG optical drive DVD/RW - computer case is Spire Savit 6003 Gaming with 5 fans in it (120mm Arctic) - CPU cooler is Arctic Freezer 13 Peripherals: - monitor is AOC 32'' inch (2560x1440) - keyboard Roccat Isku+ Gaming - mouse Roccat Kone EMP- RGB Ilumination Gaming - headset Kingston HyperX Cloud Alpha I would like to go for AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 32GB RAM, NvME SSD with my HDD's, and of course new computer case (if needed - explained the situation below). What motherboard manufacturer for the socket (AM4) do you preffer? I need some with more SATA connections so I can connect all my HDD's on it. Or, what do you prefer? Is there any software how can I transfer files from my 2x 1TB Toshibas to 1x 2TB HDD? So I would not need so much bigger or maybe not even newer computer case? Mostly, the 1x 2TB WD is in daily usage (read/write), while the 1x TB WD and 2x 1TB Toshibas (3 HDD's) are only being connected to the power. Generally, not using them everyday, there is no read/write to them, so basically I could put them to work as an external drives in external bays or how? How about TDP and cooling the AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (would also run on the stock clock). Do I have to spend money on the new CPU cooler? (like Noctua) to have a good airflow and keeping it cool, so suppose I would need some bigger and newer computer case? - or maybe not even that. Computer case problem Currently, the case Spire Savit 6003 Gaming has few "drawbacks", because one PCI slot - the where I screw the GPU with screwdriver cannot be strained as needed and GPU is not in place - it "jiggles" and moves in the slot, and could brake it. That's why I have had my GPU moved to lower PCI slot, but then I have the problem with the GPU width and the placing of the HDDs in my case. And that's why I would like to go for a new computer case. - I am sending you the picture how it looks now in the attachment of this message Need your suggestions Could you please write me back with what components - including AMD Ryzen 5 3600 and 32GB of RAM, should I buy to have little or no bottleneck? - which NvME disk, which RAM speed and manufacturer, which computer case to put so much HDDs in it with a good airflow Kindly thank you for your help and provided information. Stay safe and healthy! Yours Sincerely, Tomislav Croatia

I have a my old rig that i'm trying to upgrade and i'm looking into putting an m.2 pcie drive for it because why not. But I don't know if it will function 100% allowing me to boot to the drive and run my OS and everything off of the drive. The system config as of right now is an i5-3570k and a GTX 980ti Classy and the mobo is an Asus P8Z77-V LK.

For wide array of reasons, I'm looking to move from my Corsair C70 to a Bitfenix Prodigy. I need something I can strap into my passenger seat and reasonably carry across a parking lot once a week. While I'm saving up to move to Ryzen later this year, I was looking to see if I could just grab a z77 ITX board, but all I see on ebay is a sea of non-overclockable parts. Is there somewhere better to find few-years-old components, or am I SOL for this summer?

Ok, here is my problem. I got a used Gigabyte HD 7870 http://www.gigabyte.us/Graphics-Card/GV-R787OC-2GD#ov and want to upgrade my sisters PC with it. The card works just fine in my own system but in her's I just get a mobo post code for no display signal. She currently has a Medion GTX 550 ti pulled from a prebuilt PC and it works fine. Her specs are: i5 2500k MSI Z77A-GD65 https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/Z77AGD65.html 6GB noname 1333mhz RAM from the same prebuilt PC Medion GTX 550 ti Be quiet Pure Power 10 500w CM https://www.bequiet.com/de/powersupply/934 some harddrive with Windows 10 When I put the 7870 in her PC and start it up everything that glows spins or rattles, starts to glow, spin and rattle but I just get the Code 97 from the mobo and I don't get a displaysignal, when I try plugging the display cable into the mobo to check if it goes for the iGPU, nothing either. I've checked for proper placement in the pcie slot, checked power cables, display cables, deleted everything Nvidia using DDU and I still get nothing and I don't really know what to do beyond this. If anyone has dealt with this card, mobo or problem before or has any insight or solution for this I would be glad to hear it, thank you for your time Just in case it matters, the monitors are plugged in via HDMI and VGA on the Nvidia, the 7870 doesn't have VGA so I'm using a VGA-miniDP adapter.

Hello! I curently have an i7 2600k paired with Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H rev. 1.1. The problem is this board does not allow overvolting, so I cant go further than 4,3 Ghz. I want to get a new motherboard to overclock my CPU to the max. I have to choose from the ASRock Z77 Pro4, the ASRock Z77 Extreme 4, the ASRock Z68 Extreme3 and the Asus P8Z68-V PRO GEN 3, all second hand. What should I get?

I added a 1060 to my PC which already has a pair of 1070s. Windows detects both 1070s just fine, but not the 1060. The card has power, the fans turn, I tested the card and it works fine when it's alone in the PC, but Windows just doesn't see it when the 1070s are installed. Linux Mint doesn't see it either, apparently the hardware just isn't detected by any OS. I've checked my BIOS for PCI-e settings, thinking I might have to manually switch to 8-4-4 even though it is known to automatically go to 8-4-4 whenever any device is plugged in to the bottom slot, but the only option I have is to choose PCI-e 3.0 to be auto or disabled. (which doesn't make a difference seeing as my Sandy CPU only supports PCI-e 2.0 anyway) I know that these motherboards are used for mining and can take up to 7 GPUs with any Sandy Bridge CPU, so 3 GPUs should be easy. This one isn't having any of it though. Any suggestions? I'm going to insert it between the 1070s, but I am fairly confident that the bottom 1070 won't show up then. Full specs :

I want to overclock an i5 3570k, should I go with a z68 motherboard with more features for a lower price or a z77 motherboard with less features at the same price? Would there be any difference if I used an older chipset (z68) over a newer one (z77)?

So I updated my BIOS. (I've done this many times, on multiple computers.) using AsRocks Windows Bios update tool found here:http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z77 Extreme4/?cat=Download&os=BIOS and everything went smooth. I went into the BIOS and I am experiencing weird lag. The screen will freeze for about 5-10 seconds and then update everything (Bios clock, mouse, temps) and I cannot figure out what is the problem. I have gone ahead and tried flashing the BIOS by loading it onto a USB and then flashing that way. Same laggy results. I tried restoring BIOS settings to default. Same laggy results. it loads Win10 and everything runs snappy fast. I only experience this lag in the BIOS.

So I recently bought this Z77 motherboard used for 90$ and the seller let me also test it to see how it works, and everything ran fine with 16GB DDR3. Then when I got home, I installed it into my case, connected everything and went to turn it on. Then I waited like 5 seconds and I thought it was just because of the first boot with new hardware and then I see it shut down. It then automatically rebooted and I still thought it was normal since most motherboards do the same. Then it shut down again. At this point I turned off my power supply and first thing I did was check all the cables and try every RAM stick and slot. Every RAM stick worked which was expected and all slots also worked which I didn't expect. Then I tried putting 2 RAM sticks in dual channel and that also worked (which I am using right now). Then I tried putting the RAM right next to eachother which should never be done aaaaand it went into a boot loop. I also tried clearing CMOS just in case it kept some settings from the seller but that also didn't work. Right now I'm frustrated since I bought too much RAM as it seems and I can't handle the 8gb of RAM I have installed. EDIT: If this helps, here are my specs: i7-2600k @4.3GHz w/ be quiet Pure Rock Slim GIGABYTE XTREME GAMING GTX 1060 6GB 8GB G.SKILL Ripjaws Series (2x4GB, DDR3-1600, have 2 more, but the motherboard doesn't want to work with all memory slots populated) 120GB Intel 535 Series SSD 1.5TB Seagate ST31500341AS

Hi! So my brother is having some troubles with some of his USB ports on his PC. Both USB 2.0 and 3.0 are affected by this. In "Device Manager" there's a tab called "Unknown devices". I can see 2 USB controllers under the tab with an exclamation mark on them. Has anyone else encountered a similar problem? Things I've tried to fix the issue: - Updated the BIOS to the latest one. I've also checked within the BIOS to see if the USB ports are missing, they are not missing. - Installed latest USB drivers and chipset for the motherboard. - Going into "Device Manager" and click on "Install drivers" for the USB controllers under the "Unknown devices"-tab. Mainly tried the "find driver online" option, but Windows can't find one. - Uninstalling the USB controllers in hope for Windows to correctly install the proper drivers without any luck. Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-V Pro CPU: Intel i7 3770k OS: Windows 7 64-bit

Im having an issue getting to post. I have an asrock z77 extreme 4 mobo with an i5 3450 cpu and some pny ddr3 1866 ram. the motherboard has a post code readout on it and it cycles through a bunch and eventually gets stuck on code 4f which according to the manual is "DXE IPL is started"; I have no idea what this means. Ive replaced the CMOS battery and also tried clearing it using the jumpers. Any idea on what I can do?

I currently have a z77 motherboard and im thinking of building a pc. but then i realised how good x58 is. There are a bunch of dual socket x58 mobos on ebay for around 50 dollars so im thinking of selling my current z77 mobo and buying the x58 mobo with 2 xeons x5660s for around 40 bucks. should i do it or not? Also could someone tell me the best cpu that is supported on z77, anything above 4c 8t/extreme? thanks
