X13 G1 Yoga I5-10310U 16GB 450usd Lenovo X1 YOGA G3 i7-8650U 16gb 370usd Hi, so I am on a tight budget and looking for a 2-in-1 laptop for university that will last for the next 3 years. After reading about problems with hinges in many models, I am considering these 2 options. My questions are: Performance-wise, is there a huge gap between the i7-8650U and i5-10310U? Which one would you recommend? Are the hinges really durable in these models? Should I save up and buy something with a newer CPU? Do you have any other recommendations? I can stretch my budget to 600 USD if it's really worth it. How they work with linux. Is palm rejection working fine with pen? Does keyboard detach in tablet mode? Why 2-in-1? It's a really convenient option. Being able to switch between using a stylus for handwriting in one class and using the keyboard for note-taking is a deal-breaker for me.

After I updated the BIOS on my laptop I noticed my performance had plummeted. The laptop was only running on integrated intel graphics. I could not find the GPU in Task manager, Device Manager, or the UEFI settings. I tried reinstalling the BIOS again to see if it would fix anything. I've tried updating windows to the latest version. I tried resetting windows as well. I have also tried updating all the drivers. I was hoping to downgrade the BIOS back to the working version but cannot find any version before the latest. GeForce experience does not detect GPU. Lenovo CS told me they couldn't help. Is there anyway to "force" driver install? maybe it'll pop up afterwards? Is there a source for the old BIOS? Is there such a thing as a custom BIOS? to enable any advanced settings? Specs: Lenovo Yoga 710-15IKB Serial Number - MP18ESZ5 Product Number - 80V5 BIOS Version - 2XCN38WWV2.12 CPU - Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7200U CPU @ 2.50GHz 2.70 GHz 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor 16GB DDR4 RAM 250gb SATA m.2 GPU - Nvidia GeForce 940mx

Hi all, I just bought Lenovo Yoga 500-14ISK and i would like to exchange battery since old one is weak in capacity and holds just for minutes. I opened up laptop and found L14M2P21 battery with 30Wh, 7.4VDC and 4050mAh. While searching online I found that there is option with same PN L14M3P21 but with 45Wh, 11.1VDC (link to amazon: https://www.amazon.com/BOWEIRUI-L14M3P21-Replacement-L14L3P21-L14M2P21/dp/B07T5XGVW9) Can I use this higher voltage battery in my laptop? Did someone try this already? Thanks in advance.

So the device in question is a Lenovo Yoga 710-15IKB. I7 with the NVidia 940mx, 16gb ram and 256 ssd. 15 inch touch screen convertible. Here is a link to the laptop however min is the 16g ram variant. https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/yoga/700-series/Lenovo-YOGA-710-15IKB/p/88YG7000772 Before all this the first thing to go was my webcam. No incident, just one day stopped working. But it didn’t bother me much as I rarely used it. And next was blown speakers… So around two years ago I spilled a very small amount of tea on the bottom middle of the keyboard. It was immediately powered off, flipped upside down and I quickly removed the battery and dried it thoroughly for a day or so. Upon startup, it all was well until I tried a few keys… The issues were- V, B, N, M, SPACE, and ENTER. When pushing V, it would type VB, and when pushing B it would do the same. I went the same with the N, and M keys. Space bar would trigger the enter key and vice versa. As I still needed to work, my go to fix was a USB keyboard and to just deal with it until I could get it fix or a better laptop. A few months later I purchased a keyboard for the yoga online. I replaced the keyboard and inspected as I went along. It’s a full teardown of everything besides the screen to replace the keys. But alas, I couldn’t find any worrying signs as I tore it down and reassembled. And now it gets interesting… I booted it up for the first time with the new keyboard, opened word and notepad to test and sure enough, the same key issues! So I was defeated, and frustrated. A friend suggested a bad MOBO, even if mine had no signs of damage. And something more… I must have disturbed the monitor or cable, because now it will randomly flicker as well as a small faint vertical line that comes and goes... FML! This would eventually lead to frustration and me breaking down and buying a new laptop. So the Lenovo yoga found a comfy place on the closet shelf for the next year or two. So, about a month ago I was watching a YouTube, and found a cool video abo re-purposing old laptops into a home workstation. Out of curiosity, I pulled the Yoga from the shelf. To my surprise after booting up the keys seemed to function fine! I was stoked! Now I had my thin little Yoga back! It still had a screen flicker and occasional very faint vertical line, but it was back! Now it was on! I was going to fix the Yoga and start using it. First thing was ordering speakers, a new web camera, and the touchscreen’s connecting wire in hopes of correcting the screen flicker. A few more YouTube tutorial videos later, and Bam! A working webcam and speakers! Sadly the new screen cable didn’t help the occasional flicker… but I could deal with it for now. Then, strangely after a happy month of use the Yoga shit the bed again! The key problem was back! Now I’m getting a little mad, a little frustrated, intrigued, and challenged! So I ordered a new MOBO and installed it yesterday. It all went well and I was super happy when it booted up and seemed to work fine! But upon some use I went to type a comma (,) and low and behold.., an M appears! WTHF!? I mean seriously what the actual F*@K! LOL Does anyone out there have any ideas? I would really like to continue using the Yoga. It still has decent specks in this day and age. And after the games it’s played with me, I would really love to come out of this on top! Help me please!!!!!

So my brother just updated his drivers using iobit driver booster on his Lenovo Yoga 11e and then his touch screen stopped working (it does an automatic restore point but he said that it did not work) I could roll each one back individually and figure it out that way but that's a lot of time so I wanted to test my luck and see if anybody here knew what driver was associated with the touch screen. Thanks

I been waiting several months for the perfect laptop. One with a lot of power, that looks sleek and professional (not gamerish), and that does not break my bank (under $1,500). A laptop of such qualities was finally invented! The Lenovo Yoga 720 15IKB!!! I was surprised to see no topic on this laptop on here considering it is the first 2 in 1 on the market with a quad core processor. Also the first 2 in 1 on the market with a 10 series NVIDIA graphics card. So this is a ground breaking new laptop for the market. I purchased this lap top last week and it arrived a few days ago. I love it and have found only very a couple minor things I would change. I purchased the following configuration.... 15.6 inch 3840 x 2160 IPS Display (NOT PenTile, but real RGB) i7-7700HQ 2.8GHz 16GB DDR4 RAM at 2133MHz 512GB PCIe SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 with 2GB GDRR5 6 cell 72 watt hour battery Dual JBL Dolby Atmos Speakers 1 Thunderbolt 3 port 2 USB 3.0 Type-A Build Quality is all Aluminium All that for only $1,499! So no matter how you slice it, there is no other laptop on the market under $1,500 with specs that good, that also looks professional (not gamerish), with good all aluminum build quality. I never was a big Lenovo fan until now, I must say they hit a home run with this laptop. So I would love to hear everyone else's opinion on this laptop? I know it can be hard to judge completely since there is no reviews of one yet *Cough Linus Cough* But I do plan on posting a review on it sometime with in the next 1 to 2 weeks. So what do you all think? You can check it out on the US Lenovo website right here

Hello everyone, I recently bought a Lenovo Yoga 910 Signature Edition 2-in-1 and I have recently stumbled across an issue with the WLan Qualcomm driver. Seems after I had installed it the system resources are getting taxed very hard. Anyone know if it's just the latest driver or if there is a work around? I'm going to stay on the out of the box driver's until I hear something. Thanks

TL; DR: Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11S warranty repair service gone horribly wrong, BAD experience is an understatement. Avoid Lenovo IdeaPad products at all costs. 15+ phone calls total (so far, including calls to managers), warranty-system transaction glitch caused initial delay, 5 repair tickets opened, 2 repair-center send-ins (waited almost a month the second time around), HOURS on the phone arguing with technicians, all my data was erased, Windows downgraded from 10 to 8 and the laptop is STILL not working today. Aug to Nov 2016 struggle (and still on-going). Typical Warranty Process: * Call Lenovo. * Go through trouble-shooting. * Submit a claim. * They ship out a box to you with prepaid shipping (return-box). * Put the machine in the box, drop it off to FedEx. * Wait on the repair. * Receive repaired computer through FedEx. Simple right? Okay... keep reading. Time Line of Events: * Nov 2014 - Machine purchased (Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11S). * 2015 - Extended warranty purchased. - Extended warranty was NEVER applied to the system by Lenovo, they said their system glitched. * Aug 2016 - Machine breaks down (no longer boots). - After 3+ weeks, 6+ phone calls, many emails, HOURS on hold, the extended warranty was finally applied to the system by Lenovo. * Sep 20 2016 - "Claim 1" submitted (warranty claim). * Sep 24 2016 - Return-box arrived, I shipped the machine. * Oct 13 2016 - Machine returned. - HDD was erased. - Lost my free Windows 10 upgrade, now back to Windows 8. - Boot issue fixed, the machine now boots into windows and no longer gets stuck on the Lenovo logo. - Machine does NOT charge anymore (stays at 5%), I tried 3 different chargers including a brand new one. * Oct 17 2016 - I call the repair center. - I was instructed to perform a motherboard software refresh. - I did all the trouble-shooting the representative suggested, no luck. * Oct 18 2016 - "Claim 2" submitted. - Waited a week, no return-box showed up at my residence. - Called over 8 times (once every couple of days) to request the return-box be sent to me so I can ship back my machine, no luck. - Spoke to managers on at least 2 occasions who promised that the return-box will be sent the day I called, still nothing. - I was promised to get emails containing shipment status, got nothing. - I kept calling and repeating the same stupid cycle. * Oct 31 2016 - "Claim 3" submitted. - This was done after so many tiring phone calls. - Representative said it's best to close the current ticket and start a fresh new one, I agreed. - "Claim 2" is now canceled. * Oct 31 2016 - "Claim 3" was canceled by Lenovo ON THE SAME DAY! - Later that afternoon, I noticed on the repair status page that "Claim 3" is canceled. - Flagged as a duplicate, the representative told me when I called them raging. - Representative creates "Claim 4", and said "We had to close Claim 2 and 3 properly so that Claim 4 is not marked as a duplicate again". - The wait for them to ship me a return-box continues. * Nov 2 2016 - No return-box yet. - Called the service center every other day to check on it, I even offered to ship it to them on my own expense. - I was told multiple times that the return-box will ship and an email will be sent out to me, one rep even promised to call me back with an update the same day (it never happened). I got nothing. - Later that day I called and asked for a manager and he said "The previous representative didn't do his job correctly in opening "Claim 4"". - "Claim 4" is now canceled. - "Claim 5" submitted (by now, I just gave up). * Nov 7 2016 - RETURN-BOX ARRIVES! YAY! - I packed the laptop, sent it out the same day. * Nov 17 2016 - Repair status on the update website said "If you haven’t already heard from a Lenovo Support Technician you can schedule a callback by visiting www.lenovo.com/contact. ". - Obviously I haven't heard from anyone so I called the service center and they told me they cannot put back Windows 10, they will only restore Windows 8. - The lady LITERALLY said "If you don't accept Windows 8, the tech will just re-pack the laptop and send it right back to you without any repairs", I thought that very rude and unprofessional IMO. - I accepted the fact that I lost my Windows 10 free upgrade and now I'm back to Windows 8. - They advanced the repair process (To fix the battery that is NOT charging anymore). * Nov 25 2016 (today) - Laptop arrives! YAAAAAY! - Not so fast ... THE THING DOESN'T EVEN CHARGE NOR BOOT! IT IS LITERALLY IN WORSE CONDITION THAN WHEN I SENT IT IN FOR REPAIR! ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE. - IMMEDIATELY, I called support, now they escalated me to "customer relations", I'm expecting a call next Monday or Tuesday morning (I will update this thread). Sigh... Alright guys ... I don't typically write rants or bad reviews of anything unless it is absolutely deserving, and this time, I think we'll all agree that my experience was (is) horrible to say the least. I'm not saying the employees were bad, in fact most of them were nice (except the mentioned above). However, the level of incompetence is beyond anything I've ever seen. How can they tell me (or print on paper inside the laptop package) that the computer is FULLY TESTED and QUALIFIED when it doesn't even boot or charge? Not a SINGLE LED lights up when it's plugged in, it's literally dead! Didn't someone try to plug it in? How hard is it to power it on and go through the first few screens to verify that it is functional prior to shipping it back to me? I don't know. The first time I shipped it, they asked me to ship the machine only, the second time I shipped it with the charger as instructed. They supposedly inspected both. I also don't understand how can their ticketing system be so bad to where a return-box took almost 1 month and 4 tickets to ship. Why didn't the representatives respond to me via email or phone calls when they promised they will? How can their warranty system NOT apply the extended warranty I purchased to my serial number? It is just beyond astonishing the amount of things that went WRONG with this transaction. I wish I never bought the machine. I've owned ThinkPad products in the past and I have purchased several for family members and friends, however, this is the first IdeaPad product I own and I think it will be the last. I don't think Lenovo holds IdeaPad products to the same level and standard of service as their inherited IBM ThinkPad line of products. I've claimed warranty on my 2010/2011 ThinkPad W510 before, it was AMAZING, they came to my house and fixed it on the SPOT! Why don't they treat their other products the same way? I'm very disappointed. What sucks even more is that this IdeaPad laptop isn't my personal machine, it belongs to my mom. She had intentional travel arrangements made on October 19th and needed the laptop with her, I thought sending the laptop in for service 1 month before her 6-month long travel plans would be ample time to get it repaired .... I was wrong. Now the laptop is still here with me, not-repaired and she's long gone on her trip. I will update this post as I hear back from Lenovo's customer relations department. At this point, I have no idea what to expect.

Hi, I have a Lenovo Yoga 300. I was experiencing some keyboard issues, sometimes the trackpad would suddenly stop working, the keyboard stop working and the windows randomly started asking me if i want to switch to the tablet mode. So on the lenovo official forum I was advised to update my BIOS. In the middle of the update, the laptop restarted and asked me to press any key to proceed with the update. I kept on pressing the keys, but it didn't register and in a matter of minutes, it shut itself down. Since then I have not been able to even switch the laptop on again. Even the battery charging indicator won't glow even which i plug it in. Don't even get any screen, it's like it doesn't even start. I've checked forums about this issue and putting the BIOS files in the usb and then letting it do it's stuff, but if the laptop doesn't even turn on, how do i go about it? The battery is internal and I don't get covered under their warranty. Can anyone suggest a solution?

I am considering the lenovo yoga book as an alternative to a new laptop as my secondary device. What do you thick? My situation is; I having a gaming desktop (with all the trimmings) for hardocre computing (gaming, video editing, software development, etc.), a laptop (Dell XPS13) for daily work, and many tablets in the drawer (they didn't cut the mustard).

thinkpad thinkpad yoga s1 - 6 wires,? help
E.wadsager posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
Hey im about to order a new fan for my thinkpad yoga s1, since the old on is starting to get noisy. Why does the fan have 1 extra wire that seem to be soldered to the heat sink. Will this be a problem.? I think i might cut the old wire and solder the new to it, since it seems easier then solder the new wire to the heat sink. link for fan: https://www.ebay.com/itm/For-Lenovo-Thinkpad-S1-YOGA12-CPU-Cooling-Fan-with-Heatsink-Cpu-04X6440-Portable/401794309501?_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item5d8cce9d7d:g:D54AAOSwnnpdEEq-&enc=AQAEAAAB4BPxNw%2BVj6nta7CKEs3N0qUca%2Bc2QzumwDedhhSvzDQNKBPlWgdWsyxjuY4F6mvFYmAn08CvNT17uTbLqlV0glEDZGkHJ5FCec6%2Fs2eNXBlvoz0kN5ac7rCosKN8Bc81sXtRbABfBqykxvmsb%2FSWSnWj0Zcd9%2B8TlIxaawSssUD%2BZ2AFd9XwUKJS7X3G0kR8p7dmYTlrb6YeGjbMQ2WjINYTIFFRByISawJDMpPr3uSAlhsZcDHQqpwdJhmfnK8Dmx5WwOCO3qfbi%2Bb87a29ypmx2Hj407Uw1URIf65wfrixZUrwpT7TrZ%2FjKG6g3XEDpP8ufyyodZm05w%2FThYrqjYBygcstXKtLzVIaEJFgRyPDAcSlIXBbgu%2FN5cRCPrGSoi0SRlmPTOr0EsACW8VGfj2oaIrvg5Sq0W4FxQ8fveExqVTSJMgA29Cbyy99XAk%2BUUACDvAwoZRExHYhBVL7wTmdVY%2BRglqQvOMw1BQj7hEz3FeUk2u7R4VC59wKV1JghCtIx95mZGbHrAR9Zo4ex8ltWyqXX3TpA33oGecnUtNAualqODVPzXF2J5s83it%2BUF%2Bp65bEQmMDdIG3w5%2Bq8IkSsgOvHoeO%2Bfvvvap446DgIXldF5eMlPR1PAGW8O%2BHMg%3D%3D&checksum=4017943095012e49fb938c784e85a9043e53c1a80a2f link for fan assembly wire looks soldered in right corner: https://www.google.com/search?q=thinkpad+s1+fan&safe=off&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi5gN71oL_jAhVs7aYKHRPxAoQQ_AUIESgB&biw=1920&bih=937#imgrc=ulSs10Qb7Ce_vM: -

Hello everyone, hope your day is going well. I am looking to purchase a new laptop for my Junior year in college. It's been one hell of a decision to make that has been constantly nagging me for the past week and a half but I finally decided to go with the Lenovo Yoga C930. I originally planned on purchasing the laptop from Best Buy, but then saw on Lenovo's website it was cheaper. I also then saw the Yoga C930 Glass and let me tell you it looks beautiful and I want it. But here's my issue. The glass is $1250 on Lenovo, while the standard C930 is $1485. The only difference between those two are the ssd drive. But on Best Buy, the standard C930 is $1499 with only a 512 SSD. Am I missing something?? Why is the glass so much cheaper than the standard model? Can someone please help me look through the specs and try to figure this out? Here are links to the websites (Please make sure to scroll down or click View Models): C930 Glass: https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/yoga/yoga-900-series/Yoga-C930-13IKB-Glass/p/88YGC900983 C930: https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/yoga/yoga-900-series/Yoga-C930-13IKB/p/88YGC900982 Best Buy C930: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lenovo-yoga-c930-2-in-1-13-9-4k-ultra-hd-touch-screen-laptop-intel-core-i7-16gb-memory-512gb-solid-state-drive-mica/6295987.p?skuId=6295987 I have even reached out to Lenovo and Best Buy and both of them only tell me that it is that the back of the screen is Glass. But I don't know it just doesn't seem right that it's that much cheaper. Does anyone have experience with the Glass version? Does it crack easily? Any help would be SO appreciated, it's starting to drive me crazy.

Hey guys I'm kinda stuck. I'm trying to decide which laptop I should get. They both cost 500 euros. The Lenovo V330-14ARR has a Ryzen 5 2500U, 8GB DDR4, 256GB SSD and below average Full HD monitor. On the other hand the Lenovo Yoga 530-14ARR has a Ryzen 3 2200U, 4GB DDR4, 128GB SSD and a better looking Full HD touch sensitive monitor. So my question is, should I sacrifice performance for a better monitor and a better looking laptop or not?

I'm not sure if this is a good deal, or if there is a better alternative. I am a student and I need a 2in1 for taking notes. Budget: around 1k, 800-1200CAD It has a pretty budget screen with low brightness and flickers in cameras. The battery life is also apparently low. For college. *NOTE: I had already posted this on the Tom’s Hardware forum and have received no responses in that week, so I am reposting it as is here.* Hello. Yesterday, my laptop (Lenovo YOGA 920) went into sleep mode and when I went to wake it, it never got past the boot logo. It will display the Lenovo boot screen with the spinning dots, and then it will flash and fade to black like it’s trying to turn on but can’t. I know the laptop is still on because the keyboard is still lit. I’m able to get into Recovery Mode every other time it boots. I am able to run it in Safe Mode (although it feels I can only really open my file explorer). I have tried doing a system restore (which there was nothing to go back to), uninstalling updates, and even reinstalling Windows, but I am still facing the same problem. Anything that I have tried that is not Safe Mode brings me back to the flash and then black screen. If anyone can help me diagnose and fix this problem, it will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much in advance. UPDATE: I have done a clean install of Windows this time and the problem still remains. However, after booting up and going black, Cortana begins to speak as she goes through the normal first-time set up. Also, now when I try to go into Safe Mode, I am met with multiple errors that all say OOBEREGION, OOBEKEYBOARD, and anything else that is preceded with OOBE. https://youtu.be/2YR8tz__Qoc

Anyone know a way to actually contact Lenovo's tech support? Their site's hot garbage and won't let me do anything but post to their forums and get ignored. I can pay for their expertPro or whatever, but that's not what I want. I want a damned support ticket for their screw up.. I have a Yoga 730-15IKB. It was a decent little machine, except Lenovo has mastered the art of ignoring customer complaints on warranty repairs. There's a well known issue where the video cable basically gets eaten through and dies. The screen will flicker and then just give up the ghost altogether. The issue occured on the 720 as well, but apparently that didn't get Lenovo to stop weakening their cables. In my case, I had the extended warranty, onsite support. I had a crashing issue that I thought was maybe bad ram on the board (soldered, yay). Well, it's corona season, they won't honor onsite support, but we're sure happy to take a month+ to get it mailed in, tell you absolutely nothing, and then just return it with a form that vaguely implies we did something. I sent them thorough documentation on how to reproduce the screen issue, the ram issue, etc. I got it back at the end of May. It's warranty had expired before they actually got it back to me. There's no way to follow up with them on their site or get an ounce of support. They apparently don't warranty their actual repair work. The screen cable completely gave out a few days ago. The OS does not detect the laptop's built in screen anymore, though it does seem to still get power. I can find the part on ebay for $30, but I have no clue how the hell to open the display assembly up. There's no screws, so I'm figuring the entire top of this thing is glued together. Kind of a case of god help me getting it apart. I can't believe LTT backed these jackasses with that Yoga 14 video, because I've gotten nothing but the runaround on this thing.
