Microsoft is helping laptop makers like those of MSI, Acer, Asus, and others heavily promote their laptops in celebration of the Lunar New Year. To do this, they have setup a special shop in Taipei, Taiwan. Where customers can try out the best laptops each vendor has to offer. Asus believes there will be a strong demand for light weight ultra books and gaming laptop in the year 2017. MSI said, their gaming laptop is growing, and will reveal brand new, high performance ones for the Lunar New Year's promotion. Lunar New Year's eve is on January 27th and New Year's is on January 28. The celebration typically last 2 weeks , which ends on February 11th. Hey everyone. I want to ask a few questions about something that I have to get sorted for university pretty soon, and would like input/opinions. I'm currently studying as a Computing and Games Development student (1st year). In-between my 2nd and final year, I have to do a 1-year placement that is relevant for my course - in my case, games development. I've been told that I don't have to think too much into it until my second year, but I still have some questions, which if possible would like your input on. After looking at the sheet provided to me by my university, there are only around 10 companies in the UK that have offered placement in the past to students at the university and course I attend. As such I've been thinking about widening my search and was curious of the following: Would it be possible to do placements outside of the UK? if so, how would I go about that? Would I have to contact companies directly or go through my university? (I say this as nearly everything they provide is UK based) Would I have to get a student visa (if needed)? Finance and living, how would I arrange something like that when I'm from a different country? If so, what companies/places would you say would be the best to ask/look for placements? Basically, I have a lot of questions on my mind, and I don't really know where to start - so any help would be really appreciated. Thanks for reading.

1. Budget & Location Preferably below $300 USD, but I am willing to spend some $400ish if it'll make that big of a difference. United States 2. Aim My system is used for a mix of fun/professional stuff. Games (including AAA stuff like RDR2), photo/video editing and general graphic design work. I'm not too concerned about my performance with the work stuff. More games 3. Monitors I've got two monitors, and don't plan on changing this. I recently upgraded to a 1440 144hz IPS as an impulse purchase which made me want to upgrade to keep up with the higher res haha. 4. Peripherals All good on these. 5. Why are you upgrading? I'm upgrading so that I can get better performance on my new monitor I recently upgraded to, and also to help quell the urge to upgrade to a whole new system Other details My CPU is not currently overclocked, and neither is my GPU, but I will be doing this shortly once I do some research and feel confident. I've done this in the past, but it's been years. I assume this will get some better performance, but I figure not a ton? Although you guys might know how much more I can squeeze out with what I have. My OS is on the WD 1TB SSD I'm looking to add some final upgrades to my system that I originally built in 2012. It's become a bit of a Frankenstein's monster/ship of Theseus over the years and I really want to start a new build from scratch, but won't really be able to do it until like mid 2021 due to finances (I'm planning on going for an expensive/powerful rig). However, I can afford maybe like 300-475ish in upgrades right now. I'm 100% fine with getting used parts. I'm into PC hardware and tech enough to make fairly informed purchases, but don't feel like I'm knowledgeable enough to identify bottlenecks in my system or to know quite what the best thing to upgrade is. I figure either my CPU or GPU are what I should upgrade, but aren't sure which would give me better performance gains in AAA games like RDR2 (although I do occasionally play CPU intensive strategy games). Typically I'd figure a good used GPU is the way to go, but wanted to check if my CPU would be a bottleneck on that since it's a bit old now. Thoughts on what I should upgrade/suggestions for specific hardware would be much appreciated! I've been working on this pc for the past year now, it refuses too turn on, it just keeps turning on and off. I've been troubleshooting it myself because im too stubborn too take it too a shop...i figured that maybe the helpful folk at the LTT forums could help. Here is my build. This Christmas, I'm considering pulling the trigger and blowing some money on a 4GB GTX 970 from EVGA. Coupled with a fresh install of Windows (Windows 10), it should be a nice upgrade. But, if we're being honest, the 770 is still not a slow card. I don't want to part with it after only a year. I'm not seeing my performance lacking at all - GTA:V on Very High to Ultra is 60 FPS solid, Witcher 3 on Ultra is 60 FPS solid, even my ridiculously over-modded Skyrim is getting anywhere from 30-40 (and that is truly the only game that would benefit hugely from a 4GB card.) If I don't blow on this, should I wait for another year or even two, and then go for a complete rebuild, or get a monster card. Or perhaps I could finally get myself a Moto 360. Or maybe I could just be sensible and save it for a rainy day. Please give me your input, and thanks a lot. -
Hey guys, so if I upgrade from my Windows 7 to windows 10 within the first year, which I will probably do, will there be enough supported games for me to play? So at the release of Windows 10, will The Witcher 3 be supported on Windows 10 with all that DirectX 12 and stuff? Or - Will it even start? I want to know if Witcher 3, Arma 3, CoD Black Ops 2, Tomb Raider, and GTA 4 will run on Windows 10. Also, for example: If Windows 10 releases on the second of june, and I upgrade the next year on the first of june, or somewhat before the 1 year is over, and then will I still have windows 10 fully after the second of june or do I have to buy it then? Okay my 1 year old MSI Laptop is starting to make weird fan noises should I be worried? Also it has a i7-4700HQ+840M if that helps anyone. It did make this sound 2 days last week then went away for like 6 days then came back... =C And while typing this it went back to normal but yes if this keeps happening should I send it to service? Maybe dust cleaning and check? Never mind it is BACK! HELP?! BTW why is there no laptop category here?

So I went to go watch stuff on vessel with the free year I got through the giveaway, and it doesn't work anymore. it wants me to sign up for another one month trial with my credit card. What's going on here? Edit: This has to do with the early access which was the only point of me getting vessel. EDIT2 If you have this problem log out and log back in! It should fix itself.

Well its one of the first animated shows (maybe hand drawn, but there is computer tech used in the later stages of the animation) that I personally ever watched and was shown through media such as the TV and later on the internet. The title says it all. Sam Simon, the co-creator of popular animated tv series, The Simpsons has passed away at the age of 59 after many years battle with Terminal Colorectal Cancer. When he was diagnosed the original life expectancy given was around 3-6 months, Since he has fought this long, he fought a very good battle. My condolences go out towards his family and co-workers. Since being diagnosed, Mr Simon has given away much of his fortune, although, he was already known to be a large philanthropist. Since 2012 he has given millions to the Sea Shepherd Society and been supporting PETA since around 2002 where he founded the Sam Simon Foundation which provides food to both people and animals in need. Al Jean who has worked with Sam many times posted this on his twitter: My Thoughts? My condolences go out to his friends family and co-workers at this time. Short Introduction This is a short overview over the EVGA 750 G2 since i couldn't find anything about it when i bought my new psu. I got this powersupply after RMAing my NEX650G, also from EVGA. I am currently using my old CX500M. Also, don't tell me that 750 watts is to much wattage, but this unit is not available in lower wattages. Don't expect any professionalism! I am taking pictures with my D5100 with an Sigma DC 18-125 1:3.8-5.6 HSM. I apologize for my bad english skills, I am not an native english speaker. Packaging & accessories In the box there is included: - the powersupply packed in nice soft foam. - a bag the psu is in. - an manual which i actually really like! nice illustrations and step by step installation guide.- all the modular cables which use different types of twist types which i find weird. on the NEX650G they were held together with velcro strips with an evga logo which i liked more. - a molex to floppy connector. - a bag for all the unused cables. - a power cord. its a power cord. its 1.5 meters long. - some delicious silica gel. - a 24 pin jumper. this is quite handy in my opinion, no more paperclips! - four black screws. in the manual q&a they answer the question why there are more than four screw holes but only four screw holes but there are actully only four screw holes which is a little bit funny. - four cable management velcro strips. The powersupply I really like the overall look of this powersupply. The finish is very textured and looks great. They rounded the edges and removed the handles from the last generation. They also improved the fan grill which was screwed on the last time which would have probably made it easier to replace the fan but it did look worse. I am also not sure how much airflow this design allows and how much air turbulence it will create. The modular interface is pretty self-explainatory, looks great and it very functional. I think it uses pretty standard plugs, that means that you could probably buy normal vga connectors, remove the clip and make you own cables from scratch this way. Also the zero fan mode is great too see, also the switch is pretty handy, but this needs to be tested in the next few days. The cables The main reason why i got my 650G was the cables. So is it for my 750G2. All the cables are black, including the connectors. On the 650G the vga cables were red, I liked it but i think not everybody does so i think this is the better solution. But the cables are not flat, they are sleeved with pretty high-quality sleeving. The heatshrink and the cable ties used below it are not really optimal, but it keeps down cost and doesn't look too bad. The advantage of these cables are that they are easier too cable-manage imo and if you want to you can sleeve them yourself later on. Mini-Conclusion This is kind of a mixture between the 650G, the 1300G2 the 1500 Classified and all the other psu's in EVGAs line-up. I think for around 100€ this i a psu, i would recommend. It is not perfect, but if you need the features it offers it is the psu for you! If you have any questions on it, ask me i will try to answer them as good as i can!
