I have a Lenovo Y50, its really old and keyboard is dirty so weeks ago i ordered a new upper body/case for it which is the palm-rest area with the keyboard and touch-pad which is built in. yesterday the product arrived and i tear my laptop apart and assembled it again on the new body. everything seems to be working such as back-lit, keyboard keys, touch-pad, light indicators. The only problem is the way the touch-pad works. first, the touch-pad on the new body doesn't have gestures, i cant even right click by using two finger click at the same time, i need to press the right side of the touch-pad to right click, and it can only do left/right click and scroll. Secondly , its really slow (as in the dpi is very low) so it requires many slides just to move the cursor from left to right of the screen. So i thought the touch-pad driver doesn't match or something so i thought if i uninstall the current one and scan for hardware changes on device manager then windows will automatically download new drivers for my touch-pad. After i did that the touch-pad is missing from my device manager and i literally cannot use my track-pad at all. its like windows doesn't know i have a touch-pad. and now i cant get it back. there is only HID-compliant mouse in my device manager. Help please.

I have a Y50-70 laptop, with GTX860M graphic card, 8GB Ram and a i7-4710HQ. I have no idea why the whole laptop is so shitty. It is barely 2 years old but everything just runs so slow. I even lag at tetris battle. It may be caused by a fresh reformat that I have did with the laptop just a month ago. I downloaded Windows 10 in my pendrive and did a fresh reboot. But even so, I have updated all latest drivers and it should run perfectly, or so I thought. Any resolutions? -
Specs: Lenovo Y50 i7-4720hq gtx860m 8gb ram touchscreen 1080p 60hz When i play csgo i set all the settings to the lowest and highest and tried setting the res to 720p but none of that improved my fps at all. I tried updating the driver then going to lenovo's site and downloading their drivers but nothing helped. My fps in game is capped at 60 fps UNTIL I touch the screen then it goes up to 140-300. When it is borderless it doesnt help. However when it is windowed the fps goes up to around 200. fps_max is at 300. I verified all framerates with net_graph AND fraps. Any ideas? -
Hey guys! So my brother's Y50 screen broke and we bought a replacement screen on Amazon. It came and I replaced it, but the screen, on top of having an annoying dead pixel, has terrible contrast, colors, and viewing angles. I have no way to tell via model numbers what panels are good or not. Any help towards finding a good or exact replacement would be very appreciated!

So I have a Lenovo y50-70 laptop which comes with a 15.6 inch 60hz TN panel which has a 30pin connector... and I would like an upgrade to a either 120hz or 144hz screen with bright and nice colors if possible (doesnt matter TN or IPS) .. The problem is I do not know how to determine which screen will fit my laptop. Does all 15 inch 30 pin screen fit my laptop or is there other factors? I would appreciate if anyone sends a link of a lcd that can fit my laptop.

Hi guys, I have a very specific problem. About a year ago, I bought a refurbished lenovo y50 an after some tuning I must say, it´s almost perfect. One of the things a really don´t is the fact, that it only has one 2,5" HDD slot, no mSATA slot, no M.2. slot an it comes with a 1TB 5400RPM SSHD, which is not fast... even compared to a 7200RPM normal HDD. I do edit and use shadowplay and powerdirector 14 on my laptop, so anything less than a 1TB drive is going to be a big problem for me. A 1TB SSD is out of question, even a 512 or 480GB... to expensive and I (a med-school student with deep depressions) can´t afford such a thing, well... not yet. That´s why I need your help and I do have a few questions. Can I use the mini PCI-E of my WIFI card? (it´s terrible and I normally use an external one) It is actually the same as a mSATA slot. What would be the fastest 1TB 2,5" mechanical HDD I could use in this scenario. What do you guys think about the western digital black2 dual drive (the one with separate SSD and HDD partitions). Any help will be appreciated.

Hi, I have a Lenovo Y50 that's fairly new. My model comes with the intel i7-4710HQ and gtx 860M 4GB. I've been trying to find the answer to my question but after hours of googling, I can't seem to find the answers I needed anywhere (I found nothing but conflicting answers), so here's my problem : I might buy a new monitor, possibly the LG ultrawide (2560x1080) the 29" model, and I need to know if my laptop's hdmi port can handle it. I need it for college work, some video editing, and gaming. It would be very helpful to know, thank you for your help. -
So i need help to choose the best laptop for €1000 and i am betwen lenovo y50 1080p 960m(4gb) 8gb ram 265g ssd / y50 4k touch 860m 16gb ram 1tb hdd 8ssd/ msi ge62 1080p 960m 5700hq 12gb ram 1tb 7200rpm ! Pleasy i want advise from someone that realy knows about these laptops and not someone that just knows the specs!

hey guys, i was planning on buying a gaming laptop on a budget and was considering buying the lenovo y50. i was googling the reviews and read almost everywhere that the screen was mercilessly bad. i am really on a budget and would only shell out for a rog model if y50 is that bad. also i have read that the 4k model is set at 48hz. i was wondering whether i would have a problem playing games on 48hz since i do play most major titles(now on roomates pc ) and also coming from a hp dv6 laptop would i have any problems with the y50 display since the dv6 is not the best one around. so should i go for the y50(1080p or 4k) or getting a rog lap is the best thing to do ????

Amazon: $1,199.00 Ebay: $849.99 So I've been wanting to get a laptop for a while. I found this while searching on google. It looks like a pretty good laptop, especially for the price (4k screen for that price?). What you you guys think of the laptop? The ebay price is about at the top of my price range. I'm looking to get into some photo and video editing but my laptop I have right now just isn't going to cut it. I'm going back and forth between building a pc and buying a laptop, but I would really like a laptop that I can use for school too. I'm planning on mostly using After Effects, Premiere, and Photoshop (and probably a little gaming to). Right now, I'm thinking about getting the Lenovo Y50 http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/lenovo/y-series/y50/?sb=:000001C9:0001392F:&IPromoID=LEN524848 These are the specs: -4th Generation Intel Core i7-4720HQ Processor (2.60GHz 1600MHz 6MB) -NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M 4GB -16 GB RAM I know this isn't going to have mind blowing performance, but I can't spend a ton of money. From what I've read so far it seems to have pretty good reviews. Based on the specs what do you think I could expect? Would you recommend this computer and if not is there anything you would recommend around this price point? Thanks!

Hey there, I'm in search for a laptop to be bought in japan, and from all the models I've seen reviews and are compelling to me, basically only two companies seem to sell them relatively easy there, which are these, Dell and Lenovo. The notebooks in question are the Dell new XPS 13 and the Lenovo Y50, which you can find here http://www.dell.com/jp/p/xps-13-9343-laptop/pd?oc=cax5125sp13s08in1ojp&model_id=xps-13-9343-laptop and here http://shopap.lenovo.com/jp/notebooks/lenovo/y-series/y50/ Both of them can be bought with english keyboards so it's fine :v I basically want the notebook to take for the university and do some light 3d work on it (so if you want to suggest other notebooks, please make it an i7), I'm leaning towards the XPS for the SSD, battery life and portability, but a bit of fear of having a bad experience with dell (been through that) makes me lean on to the other side, lenovo's one (but I never had any products of them, so it's because I don't know it better). Just before I continue, I'm buying one of these notebooks from japan because here in where I live there's no company offering ANY notebooks with similar specs at a decent price (I've been through all of them), if I wanted to buy something like it I'd have to pay maybe twice as much, and I really can't afford for it and from past experiences I don't want to buy a subpar computer that will break in 6 months. So I'd like to know from you guys, what do you think of these companies, of their engineering and reliability, would you recommend me getting one of those or other ones? Any help is appreciated. Any advice would be considered and greatly appreciated.

Hi, I have a Lenovo Y50-70 (1080p model) and I am going for maximum possible battery life. I have disabled my Nvidia GPU outright as I do not use this laptop for Gaming. Should I underclock my CPU to about 50% so that the CPU would consume less power, or leave it at 100% so that the display will be on for a shorter time, hence saving power on the display. Which of these options will save more battery life than the other? Thank you.

Hey guys, I am going off to film school in a couple of months, and I need a laptop to do my editing work, and also maybe some light gaming. I am going to be using the following applications: Adobe Premiere Pro Adobe After Effects Adobe Photoshop Sony Vegas Pro. DaVinci Resolve Lite I am thinking about the Lenovo Y50 4K version, since reviews say that the 1080p version has poor colour reproduction. Also, the Dell Inspiron 15 7000 series (2015). It would be great if i got some advice on which laptop to get. And also if the laptops mentioned above are good enough. Games that I would want to play would be: GTA V Far Cry 4 Battlefield Hardline, etc Running these games at high settings isn't a priority. Even if the laptops manage to run these games at meduim or a bit high, it's okay, but the laptop should be fast enough for the above mentioned editing applications. (Also, since I live in India, getting my hands on brands such as MSI or Asus is hard, especially the higher end ones.) My preferred platform is Windows, since the highest end MacBook Pros cost a bomb here. (They're around $3000 completely maxed out) Thanks in Advance!

I have recently purchased a Rode VideoMic Go for DSLR use but could not seem to get it to work when it is plugged into my laptop? I pluged it into the headphone/mic combo jack on my Lenovo Y50 and the notification popped up saying it detected a device but it does not seem to be working? Help please?

I'm looking at two Laptops, the only difference is the processor. I was woundering the porfomace difference. I'm not worried about battery life; just about processing power per dollar. I will have to do rapid prototyping for school and need the horses to run both. I feel like the i5 in the Y50 is going to be enough but if it will be a lot smoother with the i7. The i5 is a Haswell and the i7 just launch so I'm really not sure on the performance increase just for my purpose. If I was just going with gaming I would get the Y50 and be done.

About 2 weeks ago, I purchased a y50 from amazon/lenovo. The laptop was working fine for a bit, and then all of the sudden the keyboard stopped working. No feedback from any of the keys, including the "num lock" and "caps lock" LEDs. I plugged an external keyboard in, and that worked fine. I proceeded to reinstall the mouse and keyboard drivers and got nothing. I opened up the bottom to see if anything was loose, and didn't immediately see anything wrong, so I closed it up. I even went so far as to completely reinstall windows, and STILL nothing. Someone please help...

Is there anyone here currently or had use the Lenovo Y50 with the i7-4710HQ and gtx860m 2gb version. (tn panel , not the ips one). there's an offer right now in my area selling it at 775USD.. (my budget was 800 , and luckily this one jumped right in) i would like to get a first hand review on it. *Note , i've watched linus's review , but i needed others as well. i am more interested in the gaming and portability review. i'd be buying it by the end of this week or early next week.

Hi, i have a lenovo y50-70 laptop. i recently used a 2gb ram card from a old card in my y50,i later realized that it was ddr3 not ddr3l . Windows recognizes it and i have a total of 10gb now (8+2) ...is it safe continue using it or should i just remove it? and also is 10gb of 1333mhz better than 8gb at 1600mhz...i know the difference in speed is not so noticeable, but will the gain in memory space out-way reduction in speed ? Thanks

You can also buy it through B&N gold discount (free registration) for $760 which is pretty good deal This one comes with an Intel 7260 Wifi card, unlike other Lenovo models that come with an Intel 3160, which is a good advantage.. The HDD is a little slow, but you can replace it with a good SSD or SSHD for low price with the upcoming deals (or a $100 MX100 anyway) -
Hey guys i need a laptop for college and i cant decide between the two laptops: Lenovo Y50 or the Asus G550JK. The laptops specs that ill be choosing will be: Lenovo Y50 - Intel Core I7-4700HQ, 15.6" FHD Antiglare 1980 x 1080, NVIDIA Geforce GTX 860M 2GB DDR5 VRAM, 8 GB DDR3 RAM, Hybrid 1 TB 5400RPM+8GB SSHD Asus G550JK - Intel Core I7-4700HQ, 15.6" IPS FHD Antiglare 1980 x 1080, NVIDIA Geforce GTX 850M 4GB DDR3 VRAM, 8 GB DDR3 RAM, 1 TB 5400RPM HDD With regards to the HDD, i'll be upgrading it to a 128GB SSD from Kingston/Samsung EVO so it wont matter what the default HDD in the laptop is. I really value the cooling system of the laptop, and as of today there have not been any professional reviews of the cooling system with regards to both laptops. If anyone has any idea how the cooling system and noise level when playing games and just normal work it would be great to let me know! Please help and comment on which laptop you guys think i should buy. Thanks! (P.S the games i play are: Starcraft 2, League of Legends, Battlefield 4.)

I just got a Lenovo Y50 about a month ago. I love the thing, but there is one slight catch: The freaking TN panel. Sometime in the future I want to switch it out for an IPS panel. I know that since I am switching panel types, Lenovo won't actually have a replacement IPS panel for this specific notebook. So the question is, where can I get a decent IPS replacement panel for cheap that will fit this laptop? I saw a video of someone replacing the panel with one from LG, and it costs around 80-90 dollars. Is that a good price, or can I find one for cheaper?
