Hi ! I have a GA-Z97X-Gaming 7 motherboard and i am wondering if Crossfire/SLI will be fine with it? 1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x16 (PCIEX16) * For optimum performance, if only one PCI Express graphics card is to be installed, be sure to install it in the PCIEX16 slot. 1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x8 (PCIEX8) * The PCIEX8 slot shares bandwidth with the PCIEX16 slot. When the PCIEX8 slot is populated, the PCIEX16 slot will operate at up to x8 mode. 1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x4 (PCIEX4) * The PCIEX4 slot shares bandwidth with the PCIEX8 and PCIEX16 slots. When the PCIEX4 slot is populated, the PCIEX16 slot will operate at up to x8 mode and the PCIEX8 will operate at up to x4 mode. * When installing a x8 or above card in the PCIEX4 slot, make sure to set PCIE Slot Configuration (CPU) in BIOS Setup to x4. (Refer to Chapter 2, "BIOS Setup," "Peripherals," for more information.) (The PCIEX16, PCIEX8 and PCIEX4 slots conform to PCI Express 3.0 standard.)

Hello Linus Community! Big fan, awesome show, good porn. I'd like to ask around before planning the next upgrade path for my family. I try to keep the systems as identical as possible because I do a lot of upgrades from a server over my home network. Never had issues, never had problems, but I am lacking in upgrade-ability for everyone at home. My Family's current configuration at home: Dad: i7-2600 (nonK) 12Gb DDR3 @ 1600 120Gb SSD OS Drive 1Tb (2x500Gb RAID1) GTX 690 700W PSU 80+Bronze Brother: i7-2600 (nonK) 12Gb DDR3 @ 1600 120Gb SSD OS Drive 1Tb (2x500Gb RAID1) GTX 690 700W PSU 80+Bronze Mother: <- Just a TV stream PC i5-2500 (nonK) 8Gb DDR3 @ 1600 250Gb WD Blue 7200RPM GT 1030 Antec Green 300W PSU My vision Currently is to do this for each family member: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/LZ4qsZ I have 2 AMD RX580s 8GB in Xfire in my main rig (Or whatever the new term for multi GPU is for AMDs Platform) that I don't use as much as I did when I was gaming, so I Could swap them in other family members PCs Since Dad and Bro play games still. My mother won't need a dedicated GPU since she just streams TV and the APU will be plenty sufficient. (for her I might even step down to the 2200G since too much horsepower is not necessary for 1080p streaming) My questions are: 1) Is this a good logic? 2) I have give or take 2000$ CAD to upgrade my family and I'd like to make it the most cost efficient. (will try to sell older PCs to recuperate some cost) 3) What can I Xfire with the New APUs from AMD? 4) Is there a better direction I could take this? EDIT: As mentioned above, don't factor in GPU and RAM prices since I'm disassembling my main rig and letting them use some parts. -
Ok, so I am a college student that works during the summer doing construction. I don't make a lot so I have to make my money last. I bought two R9 290xs last summer for $160 and $180. I was new to pc gaming and did not know much, I got two reference cards and an AMD motherboard and cpu (an freaking old cpu). I will be getting an i5 6500 with MSI Krait z170 motherboard (I am going for a black and white color scheme), 8gb of ram and a 1080p 144hz 1ms monitor (I wish I could afford a 1440p). What should I do about the two jet engines that I have for GPUs? After the parts I have to buy I will be spending a little over $600. I am trying to stay under $800 since $650 is about two weeks pay and I need all the money I can save. So if I can avoid selling the GPUs that would be awesome, but if a good deal comes up on something else I will consider it (if it will save money in the long run). I already have a case, PSU, and cpu cooler. With DirectX12 here I should be able to get better performance out of my GPUs right? Thank you in advance. FYI my usual gameplay is GTA V, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Battlefield 3&4 and whatever may come up with freaking awesome deals.

Hey guys, So I've had a 2nd 290x for around 2 weeks now, assumed it was working and all the games were broken -.- But it appears as if the 2nd gpu is replicating the data from the 1st gpu, if that makes sense. A friend of mine figured it out, after running rivatuner we realised that the 2nd gpu usage was duplicating the 1st gpu's usage every time it updated. E.g. GTAV: GPU1 45% GPU2 45% 1sec later GPU1 55% GPU2 55% And etc, I tried disabling xfire via the catalyst control center and it made no difference, obv usage went to 0% but FPS stayed the same. On all games. I've tried AFR which still glitches textures, but fps remains the same. Sometimes I have less performance but yeah. Everything recognises the card, but it's just not working? Googled for hours and couldn't find anything like this. Can anyone help? Cheers guys P.S I'm running unigine heaven as we speak EDIT: Tried reinstalling drivers with driver sweeper etc, did this around 5 times.

Hi! 4K is slowly becoming the new standard and I'd like to do a transitional build. One that does both. 1080p for the more intensive games and 4K for the less. I will also edit videos and create games on this machine. Once I upgrade to a new system, a single GPU will handle 4K smoothly. I have a 1080p monitor and all the peripherals, as well as an HDD. These are the specs I'm thinking about: Gigabyte Z97P-D3 CM Storm Scout II Gaming Ghost White 2×MSI Radeon R9 390 8GB Kingston SSDNow 120GB HyperX Savage 2400MHz 16GB Samsung 28" 4K LED 28D590D Corsair RM850 Windows 10 This would (currently) cost me $2456.48, which I can afford. Should I do this now or wait until the 100-series of motherboards? Should I do this at all?

Hi everyone I was thinking if you buy a new pc should you make sure the PSU can go with 2 GPU's for upgradibility? Let's say for example you're working with a single GTX 760 and you want to upgrade your GPU, would you buy a 2nd GTX 760 or would you buy a single 960? What is the cheapest option when you take in account that when you buy the 960 wou will not need to have

Hello, I'm looking to upgrade my desktop in the fall, around the end of august, and I was wondering what you all recommend considering my preferences and uses. Here's what I'm using currently: i7 3770k intel processor @ 4.2ghz oc z77 extreme 4 motherboard r9 290 sapphire trix-oc (no further oc) 16gb corsair ddr3 using xmp3 in bios, no further oc 512gb mx100 crucial ssd 730w modular power supply (not sure on the manufacturer, at work right now) 3 monitors, I game at 1080p (usually not across monitors) but would like to get a 2k display soon and game across This PC has served me very well since I built it around the Holidays 2014, but I'd like some more graphic performance out of my build. I'd start by upgrading my power supply to something closer to 1000w (which I'm almost certain I need to run 2 AMD cards). I'd like to eventually SLI or X-fire some cards. I play games quite often, and while my 290 has performed admirably, I'd like a little more. I do video editing and play AAA games when I have the time, so I'd say it's a worthwhile investment for me. I really don't have a preference or "fanboy" status with AMD or Nvidia, I will buy what's best for me. I've had positive experiences in both camps and don't hate on either. I "prefer" AMD because of how Nvidia feels very... corporate and clueless about customers, but I'm not sure if the Fury X will be enough alongside my 290 to push the performance I desire. If I do get a Fury X, I would eventually replace my 290 with another most likely. So the immediate question is: 980TI alone, or 290+Fury X? Consider the upgrade possibilities, and the OC potential of the configurations, and let me know which you would go with! I'm looking for stability and performance. I appreciate any other advice as well in relation to my build.

I know alot of people don't even use or even remember Xfire, but several of my friends and I have been using it since it came out. Now it seem they're shutting down all of their social services, which im assuming also means the chat client itself. http://social.xfire.com/If you still use it or used to have want to retrieve your videos/screenshots from their servers you still have time to do that. RIP Xfire... https://www.change.org/p/xfire-to-bring-back-the-xfire-client-and-the-classic-website

Budget: around 1.5k euros *would be nice if I could get amazon.co.uk links or at least retailers in Europe* You can see my rig in my signature down below. Best possible boost with fifteen-hundred euros. I accept any possible upgrade idea that includes budget money allocated for an ultrawide monitor, if you cant propose one just consider the fact that money for that has to be left over! Go wild and thank you in advance! My thoughts before this post: grab another 280x and xfire it. Water cool+oc my cpu. Another 8gb of ram and a larger/better ssd. OR---- Simple, Intel CPU Rig for gaming and editing. You can check out my current rig in my signature so you can tell me what parts I can keep. What I'm looking for: 1) 60+fps gaming on an ultra-wide monitor that has to be included in the build, or at least money set aside for it. 2) OCable cpu setup, if that makes sense Go wild and thank you in advance.

So I've been troubleshooting like all hell and I can't seem to get borderlands 2 or the pre sequel to run well at all. I don't know what the issue is, but these games just don't want to run well on my setup. I play with an average of about 80fps @ 1080p outside of combat, and 30-40 in combat. Pretty much the same performance with one card. Setup: i7 3770k @ stock 2x reference MSi r9 290's ASUS Sabertooth z77 EVGA Supernova G2 1000w 8 Gigs of ram Things you should know: -ALL drivers are up to date along with my mobo's BIOS -It is NOT a hardware issue, I have great performance in every other game. -PhysX is set to low (off) -If you're wondering why I'm running xfire'd 290's @ 1080p, the answer is a 144hz monitor. -I've verified cache -It is a legal copy -Gpu loads bounce all over the place for no reason even in low fps, e.g. gpu1 will pop up to 80+ usage, gpu2 will drop to 0. gpu1 will drop to 0, gpu2 will pop up to 80+ -My cpu usage never goes above 60%, and because it performs well in other games I can confidently say it's NOT a bottleneck.

I currentl have a GT640 in my PC (Borrowing from a friend). I am going to buy an R9 280. I have a spare HD6770, and I want to know whether I'll be able to put them in crossfire? From what I know, crossfire works with any two AMD cards, so surely it will work? I want solid answers, please don't leave one-worded replies. Thanks .

Can anyone give me some details about a DCCFX-P2 "paddle card"? I gather that it's used for a hybrid xfire setup between cpu/onboard gfx and a dedicated card. I just found it in an older pc and I'd like to know more about it.

So, am I the only one who gets flickering textures all over the place in BF4 right now? I know that this was an issue before, but apparently that got "fixed" a while back. The thing is, my 2 R9 290s scale beautifully with this game and I would love to use both of them, but as soon as I enable crossfire the flickering starts. When I disable it the flickering stops immediately. I tried running the game in borderless window mode instead of fullscreen and the flickering stopped, but my second card also dropped to 0% - 20% usage. I'll try some more things like disabling frame-pacing and whatnot, but this seems very odd to me. Oh and BF4 is the only game that does this, btw. Sleeping Dogs, Tomb Raider and every other game that supports corssfire properly does not suffer from flickering textures in any way. I tried it with both 14.4 and 14.9 WHQL drivers.

Hi, thanks for looking at my post. I'm looking to expand my graphics horsepower and the cheapest way I can do that now is to get another 270X (as I already own one) and run them in crossfire. Can I do it with my PSU? If not, are there any other suggestions that wont break the £200 mark?

I was told by a friend who is more knowledgeable than myself within the PC world, that it is possible to crossfire a HD 7870, and a R9 270. I've had a look at AMD's charts, I can't find any that confirm this. I was wondering if anybody could confirm this for me? Any response would be appreciated Many thanks Gannicius

So, I looked for the answer to my question in the forums before posting, so hopefully I didn't just miss it entirely, or it's just no here. Sorry if this has already been asked... I have been looking to update my system's GPU, from an XFX 5970 Black Edition Dual-GPU card, ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150460 ) to something a little more modern. Especially since I have really only recently been getting into BF, and BF4 is pretty beast, I want something to run it with Mantle, so I have been throwing around the idea of either one R9 290x from Gigabite, or 2 R9 270x cards (4GB models) from the same company. I know diminished returns will come up somewhere, but my question is this: will the two R9 270x cards in crossfire out-perform the singular 290x? And is it worth it? The price of 2 of the 270x cards together is less than a single 290x. Plus, who doesn't want 8GB of GDDR5 in there? Here are the pages for the cards I'm considering: R9 270x (X2) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125496&cm_re=270x_windforce-_-14-125-496-_-Product R9 290x http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125499&cm_re=290x_windforce-_-14-125-499-_-Product Any info or opinions would be greatly appreciated, as long as it is constructive, please. If you want to know what system these will be going in, the info is in my signature below.

Hi LTT. I was just browsing secondhand graphics cards, as I for a long time have considered to upgrade my current AMD Radeon HD 6870, and I found one who is selling 2 Sparkle GTX 580. It's from a Danish website and he is selling both of these cards for 1950 DKK ~ 355 USD. To give you something to compare it to, the price he is selling both of his 580s for (355 USD) could buy you a single GTX 670 or R9 280X, if you wanted a GTX 770 you would have to add another 20 USD. The reason I'm asking whether this is something I should consider or not is, that I fell my computer is starting to lack in power. From my profile you can see the specs of my system, but in short I run a i5 2500K @stock (planning on overclocking in the next week or two) and a single Radeon 6870. As it is right now I wont be able to run both cards without replacing my PSU, which is something to consider as well. I want make a completely new build at some point, with custom water loop, the lot. That's obviously going to be expensive, so I don't want to waste a bunch of money right now on something I'm going to replace within the next year or two. I've had the 6870 for a couple of years now and it served me well and I haven't really felt like I wasn't able to play the games out there, until know. BF4 is running with low FPS, so I need an upgrade. Lets say I'm able to get one GTX 580 for 175 USD, would that be worth the money, or should I try find a PSU I could use for my future build as well and just go for both cards? Could a GTX 580 last me for a year or two. I don't have demands on running everything in ultra and 80+ FPS. I prefer FPS over details, so I rather run at medium settings and getting a higher FPS to take some advantage of my 120Hz monitor. Right now I run BF4 with all on low and everything disabled, so I'd be happy just to take this up a notch. Cheers Shaqalac.

Hey Guys/Gals, I've been giving a lot of thought lately to possibly ditching nVidia as my GPU of choice and moving to the dark side (AMD/ATI). I have been having non-stop driver problems with nVidia fro what seems like the last year and they simply just have too many problems with 4 monitor scenarios w/ surround enabled on Windows 8+. nVidia is aware of the bugs and claim they are looking for fixes but then multiple driver drops occur and nothing has been gained. I keep hearing that AMD has had a lot better multiple-monitor experience overall and that is what I'm all about! I keep hearing that SLI > XFire so if you want multiple GPU's nVidia is king but I would like to hear some thoughts from you guys on the matter. Also I've recently got into LiteCoin mining just for fun and I hear that AMD cards excel at it hugely which also makes me think they might excel at some other tasks like 3D rendering, video rendering, etc. What are your thoughts on this? I would like to know what you guys think the ideal setup would be for stability and performance with 4 monitors (3 of them as a single display in game)? Right now I have twin EVGA GTX 680 FTW+ editions in SLI and I run Windows 8.1 64bit.

Crossfire with Asus P8Z77-V LX2 Motherboard
Ebinlaw posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Im about to buy a korean 1440p monitor and i was just wondering if its okay to crossfire my HD 7850 on this motherboard. It has PCI-E 3.0 [x16 speed] and PCI-E 2.0 [x4 speed] lanes. Im able to get another 7850 for 90€. If its not smart to do that, then i need to wait till summer to buy a new GPU. -
Pretty much up there, since an APU rig may appeal to me if it works with a 7770. Also, could I Hybrid Crossfire the 7770 with an A10-6800K since it is nearly the same card as the 7750? One more thing. Can someone find me a decent motherboard (form factor doesn't matter) with the A88 chipset and FM2+ socket that would support the above? I appreciate it. (No ASUS boards, they are too bling.) I will consider ASUS actually. @NohbodyKnows

Why are there no R9 280X's with 4GB VRAM?
mygirlfriendsucked37dicks posted a topic in Graphics Cards
Greetings forumates, first time poster here. I want to be able to play GTA V when it comes out in 1080p @ 60fps, don't care about anti-aliasing. I just ordered a Seasonic SS-660XP2 ATX 12V/EPS 12V, 660W, 80 PLUS PLATINUM power supply and after a promo code EMCYTZG486 it was only $100 and theres a $20 rebate. All I need now is the graphics card. Maybe an ssd... Maybe you guys recommend something else. I have 8GB of ram, an unlocked AMD FM1 APU @ 4.6 GHZ. My budget is <$325 and thats as far as I can strech it.
