Hi, It’s tax season lol. Luckily I got a ok-ish refund. I got about $4400 CAD. I want to make tech and gaming videos on my YouTube channel. For that I need a decent gaming platform and a computer to edit video. So, I am stuck between 2 choices. Also, m keeping in mind, the subtotal of the things that i will be buying should be under $4000 CAD. As there will be gst and pst applied on purchases. 1st Choice: I can buy PS5 + XSX + MacBook Air 15” 16GB 1TB + Elgato 4K X + I already have a 4K TV. With these I will be able to record gameplay in 4K and edit on the MacBook, I have a lot of experience using Final Cut Pro. 2nd Choice: I can build a full Gaming PC, I will just have to put in another $200 in my total budget. The configuration I picked - 14700K + 4080 Super + TUF Z790-Plus + H150 Cooler + SN850X 2TB SSD + 1000W 80+ Gold PSU + 32GB 6000mhz + 4000D airflow case + 4K 144hz MSI monitor G321CU + Decent gaming mouse and keyboard. Here’s the thing, I do like the ability to have a computer on the go (MacBook), like I can lay on the couch, record a bunch of 4k gameplays and edit wherever I want. On the other hand instead of having 5 different devices, Gaming PC can record 4K using Geforce experience, edit using Premier Pro, and much more all in one. But it will fixed at one spot. Plzzzzzs HELP!!

So I am having an issue with cross play on my series x. I recently got an Xbox series x and was originally using a ps5 to play mw2. When I started to play mw2 I linked my acc and got all my content. Recently I have an issue with cross play, when I match make by myself I cannot get into matches with pc players and ps5 players. My cross play doesn’t work when I’m loading a game mode by myself. (I have cross play activated in the Xbox privacy settings). I have my Xbox privacy to play with other players on other consoles to “allowed”. The weird problem is I can play with other consoles when i am not host in a lobby. If my friend has cross play activated and when I join him, when he starts a match he gets into one and same as me since he’s host. Why doesn’t my cross play work when I'm matching up solo even when I have cross play enabled in he Xbox privacy settings tab?

A couple of friends and I we discussing Consoles vs PCs when it comes to specs and performance. Thats when we started to compare the specs of each one to the others and realized we should have a base compairison andbthat should be the equivalent PC components. I am having a bit of a hard time find a consistant compairison, but different sites have stated different hardware compairsons.

Let's start with some background. My school's computer club was granted money to purchase a TV, current-gen consoles, and a new AV receiver. We went with a Samsung Q80 something--4K, 65", 120Hz, the whole package. Alongside that, we purchased an Xbox Series X and a PS5, and followed the purchases up with a new Yamaha RX-A4A receiver. All incredibly expensive equipment by reputable manufacturers, so we assumed the setup would "just work." It did not. Let's dive in. RX-A4A The A4A is a 7.1-channel audio receiver marketed as being able to do full 4K120 HDR passthrough with ALLM, Dolby Vision, and other protocols being preserved via its many HDMI inputs and 2+1 (zone 2) outputs. Unfortunately, it does not properly broadcast this fact to the devices hooked up to it. This is likely due, as far as I can tell, to the functionality being added in a firmware update--it would appear that either whatever EDID database each connected device is looking at shows the A4A as not supporting higher bitrate content, or that the device itself broadcasts the wrong capabilities. It also completely disables video out whenever the screen blanks from a client device--i.e. when you load into a game on either console. God of War Ragnarok blanks till the end of the Santa Monica Studios logo segment, for example. This is similar to an older bug on 2020-era Samsung TVs where Game Mode would spam-toggle on and off during the early loading/splash screen segments of games. The A4A has less issues with EDID recognition on its second HDMI output, where it seems to pass through the host's information--the TV recognizes the input as the host device (i.e. the Xbox Series X tile shows up on the awful Samung game menu), and the device recognizes the display out as the TV. The HDMI out 1 is still needed, as it supports eARC and the second does not. These points likely related. However, the audio input gets automagically mapped back to the TV via CEC or some other detection protocol. Output over HDMI out 2 --> turn on console --> tv makes the game mode enabled high pitched awful noise --> audio input goes to TV and console cannot output audio. Trying to change the input blanks the screen, and then the TV gets some CEC input to switch back to HDMI out 1 carrying the eARC signal. This remains true even if you disable HDMI video output over the first port. Samsung Q80 I will not count the absolutely terrible interface (2021+) as a bug, but it should be noted that this is the single worst interface I have ever used on a TV, including the Panasonic Viera Link interface from 2010. I am talking ultra-bad. Anyway, the first issue I'll talk about is the broken audio passthrough interface. While the TV is perfectly capable of doing eARC audio, it will flat-out REFUSE to broadcast the ability to play anything above stereo, including on passthrough mode. Dolby is of course the exception here, but I would like 5.1/7.1 uncompressed to be available, and for some reason it is not. Using the PS5 or a PC, it is possible and easy to override the advertised capability. In Windows, you can just hit Configure in sound settings to select the configuration, and the PS5 has a nice, easy to interact with menu that lets you select the type of output device manually. With passthrough, it works flawlessly. However, the Xbox lack this capability, and will only give options for what the TV explicitly identifies as being capable of. The next issue is also with this so-called "passthrough." If the signal were being "passed through," there wouldn't be a second-long delay when using Atmos. Hooking the Xbox directly up to the A4A with HDMI output 1 (despite the incapability to do anything above 4K60/1080p120) yields perfect audio, with all options being enabled, and essentially zero audio latency. The TV should not add that much time and clearly, since it monkeys with the broadcasted capability, it is not actually passing through. This prevents me from using passthrough on the TV to circumvent the other issues. The TV has one last crippling issue that breaks key functionality: it reports different capabilities based on a predefined input list. Companies other than Sony have special tile icons for their devices on the TV menu, and each one goes along with a specific profile. This results in interesting behavior, where devices capable of more are restricted to what Samsung's profile thinks they can do. A great example comes from Switchroot Android. The latest update for the Android 10 version uses a device tree that identifies the Switch to other devices as in a Nintendo Switch (the previous versions showed as NVIDIA Shields). The Switch's stock firmware locks it to 1080p60, but the v1 is actually capable of outputting up to 4K30, and this capability is unlocked in Android and Linux. However, the TV sees a "Nintendo Switch" and assigns it the Switch profile. The Switch is then informed that the TV only supports up to 1080p60. Absolutely hilarious, and this bug has existed since at least the 2018ish models when Game Mode was new (haven't tested before that). That seems to be part of the issue with the first HDMI output on the A4A-that output is the only one that registers as the A4A and not the original host, and it likely is assuming the A4A is incapable of outputting anything better than 4K60/1080p120. It's also possible that the aforementioned A4A self-reporting issue is causing this behavior, but given I've seen this before I figured I'd mention it. Xbox Series X The big issue on this device is just that it takes whatever the output device says as law. On Windows, you can force your way over HDMI, be this by virtue of the GPU driver or some capability Windows has that Xbox doesn't expose. The audio passthrough issue seems to be worse on Xbox than other devices, but it's possible that it's just because my other devices don't support Dolby. PS5 The PS5 is able to override most of the bugs of the other devices, but has one weird quirk-when put through the A4A, while it seemingly can do proper video passthrough, We are prompted to redo HDR calibration every single time the device turns back on/is reconnected, even though the display information should be exactly the same. Additionally, though this isn't much of a bug and more of a missing feature, you can't properly control color space etc. for HDMI outputs on the PS5. Anyway, not sure if there's much I can do about this, but I highly doubt any of these companies care enough to help, so at least I get to rant. If anyone has found a solution, I'd love to hear it.
-
Can someone explain this to me? I don't generally keep up with this kind of stuff and mostly hear about it in passing, but I don't hear much the about the new Xbox consoles. Do they have performance issues? Is it just the fact that they don't have as many exclusives?

So recently my brother bought the series x and with game pass his internal SSD filled up quickly (we already have one external HDD.) and he wants to expand the storage with SSD that allows him to use the "Xbox Velocity Architecture" aka quick resume. But the only option (that i know) is to buy the Seagate expansion ssd at $7,420.71 MXN (366.98 USD) witch its to expensive for him right now because he bought the series x but my question here is. If I use a sata to usb 3 will he be available to use a sata sdd as a Xbox Velocity Architecture drive, obviously he can use it as a external HDD but will quick resume will work for games that are stored in that sata ssd. I haven’t found anything related to this, because every time I search for something with Xbox and SSD in the same sentences the Segate SSD appears. Tldr: Can I use a sata ssd to have quick resume on the xbox series x? (as in the picture)

Hi, I just bought an xbox console and so far I'm loving it except for one thing that drives me crazy. As I've found out, the xbox has no proper audio outputs, so I'm only limited to the jack on the console. I have a Logitech PRO X wired headset that comes with a basic usb DAC and there is no way to connect the DAC, which makes the audio poor at best. I've been searching the web and found suggestions to use an HDMI splitter (such as this one ebay) so that I can use the other HDMI output to get the sound using a 3rd party device. I could not found any splitter from a reputable brand that could output a 4k @120 Hz video and I'm kinda afraid to try a generic one similar to the one I linked. Can you suggest any that has worked for you? My other problem is that even if I find the right splitter, I would need to convert the hdmi plug to an usb in, so that I can attach my Logitech usb dac to it, but so far, I could not find any converter that could do this (and I think due to bandwidth or any other incompatibility issues there may be none). This brings me to my other question: could you recommend a DAC/AMP that accepts an HDMI input and has a Jack output? So far, i could only manage to find the Evolve 2 4K or this one also from essence, but those are way above the money I would spend on it. I'm a complete n00b when it comes to audio tech so any advice is appreciated.

Which is the best monitor for the Xbox series X <=32"?

Hello everyone. I built a new PC and it runs great, but i found that there is an issue with some games on steam and the xbox controller i am using. I rember this being an issue with an other build i did but forgot the solution. I also already tried to toggle some settings on steam but it seems to only work for some games and not all. And the reason why i know it's a Steam issue is because games on other launchers work as they should. Another random thing though, is with the settings on from steam, anpther shooter I was playing, jumping in the game would cause the gun to fire for some reason. The issue changed when i turned the controller settings off in steam. It wasn't even a game launched on steam. >Settings i tried: Toggled all settings off. Toggled these settings on. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi guys, Thinking of upgrading my Xbox one X to Series X|S depending on many factors So planning to ditch my 1080p (Asus vc239h) and upgrade it Should i pick a good 1440p monitor or a cheap 4k monitor, is the difference noticeable ? Or should i just stick with the existing 1080p ? I don't currently have any complaints with it other than speaker volume being low (which i very rarely use, so can be ignored). Price Range: £250 - £350 (during this black friday) (Guess its a small budget) Screen Size: 27" preferred, I travel around so it should be able to fit into my checkin trolley bag (not sure if 32 inch will fit safely in the bag) Panel Type: IPS preferred Speakers: Required Type of Games i play: Mostly single player, so not much of competitive gaming Purpose: Gaming & Netflix

MAJOR EDIT: After doing more research today it seems the mention of the Xbox Series X is actually WRONG, the chip apparently is closer to the PS5, it was just that the original mentions of this chip were calling it an Xbox Series X APU. Summary AMD has released a motherboard and APU kit that consists of slightly defective PS5 (Previously said XBox Series X) chips that can be used as a conventional computer, but requires GDDR6 memory to function, is only compatible with select GPUs, and only has Windows 10 Drivers. Quotes My thoughts Like the previous Xbox's APU, I think the releasing of slightly defective chips is both a good and bad idea, while you possibly get some decent APU performance, you also have the issues that may arrise by the fact they are by definition, defective (What I mean by this is, it's not fully stated what defects, other than most likely, video output, these chips have, are there thermal issues? for example, and if so, what limitations are put in place to prevent these, it's a bit vague in the article), and with limited Operating system compatability and driver support, this could be a very hard sell. If they had more support I could easily see these as low power versions of AMD's upcoming APUs which would be excellent for server based applications, especially with a recommendation of only 250W power supplies. But as they are right now, I don't see them having a future. since new gen consoles will have more upscaled 4k than native 4k I am wondering how will 1800p look on my 65" tv (LG CX). some people say that it looks as good or near native 4k and others say that it looks really bad. does it depend on the game? does an upscaled 4k game look as good as a native 1400p game? thankyou.

I seen the other day that the new Xbox doesn’t have a optical port which isn’t good because I use that for my headset and have been looking for something that would allow me to keep my headset instead of having to buy a new one. I was first looking at getting a hdmi audio extractor but couldn’t fined one capable of 1080p at 120hz only ones capable of 4K and lower at 60hz. I’m not bothered about 4K because then I would have to buy a new monitor. I then started looking for an analog to digital converter which I found but am now wondering if I’m going to get a delay in my audio when gaming because now my audio has to go through the extra step of getting converted but the picture doesn’t or is there a better solution to this that I haven’t found yet?

Hi, I am looking for a monitor to use for my xbox series x. I am choosing between a monitor with 1080p 144hz and 1440p 144hz. The problem is that I will be using an elgato hd60s game capture but it only records up to 1080p at 60fps so should i just get a 1080p monitor? Or can I play in 1440p and my viewers will be able to see only 1080p video with lots of complicated editing as I have a low spec pc. Also, the games I will be mostly playing are simulator like forza horizon and motorsport and f1 franchise. I will also be playing minecraft and rarely fortnite and other games of that genre. Please could you help and give any suggestions. Thanks

Hi, I am just looking for some guidance of getting a monitor. I'm looking into either getting a 1440p or 1080p 144hz monitors with my series x. The thing is that I want to be able to stream my games onto twitch and shorten them for youtube. I am not sure if there is a certain recording resolution limit for the series x. Also if you know how to stream games on xbox to twitch and edit them for youtube do i have to use a capture card for it and if not tell me the pro and cons with streaming without a capture card an with. Sorry if this looks like a mammoth task

Wondering if anyone knows how I can connect my xbox series x (which seems to only have an HDMI output) to my 120hz 1440p monitor and take advantage of full use since the monitor is a little older it has hdmi 2.0 and displayport. So basically I am wondering if a HDMI 2.1 to displayport cable will work correctly?

CPU: * 8-core Zen-2 Renoir (12mb total cache) bare minimum cache * 6-core+SMT Zen-2 Matisse (35mb total cache) bare minimum core count, aim for 3600X or tweak a 3600. * 6-core+SMT Zen-3 Cezanne (19mb total cache) recommended * 6-core+SMT Zen-3 Vermeer (35mb total cache) even better! * AMD/Intel CPU with similar performance or better. GPU: * Radeon RX 6600 XT (bare minimum, matches PS5 RDNA2 in TFLOPS) * Radeon RX 6700 XT (recommended matches the Xbox Series X in RDNA2 TFLOPS) * AMD/Nvidia GPU with similar performance or better. RAM: * DDR4-3200 16GB minimum, 32GB dual-rank kit is probably best. That about sums it up, prices for each item will no way in hell beat a console but at the very least it is yours & should last about as long if you plan to match them. Disclaimer: PC ports may suck major ass and cannot always be a 1 to 1 comparison...

With both the upcoming consoles having fast NVMe storage, how will this effect PC gaming. During playstation's PS5 stream they put a lot of weight on how developers can utilize the speed of NVMe. If future games are optimized for fast storage how will this effect people still using HDD's.

Hello LTT Forum comunity, Since the Xbox Series X will have the capability of being able to have a HDD drive connected to it to store next generation Xbox Series X games on , but won't be able to have them be played straight from that HDD drive , it should still be possible to connect a external SSD drive up to the console via USB to house games on, But more importantly for the time being... Being to be able increase the copy & transfer speed times of games from a external SSD to the internal SSD drive & the proprietary external SSD expansion card ? So weather or not the external SSD connected via USB is capable of having the games played directly from it , until proper compatible drives are released on the market. You should still be able to get the added benefit of faster written transfer speeds from SSD to SSD then what you'd typically get from a SSD to HDD drive , correct? Such as using a M.2 NVME SSD enclosure connected via Thunderbolt/USB - 3 to USB 3.1 or a 2.5" SSD drive Bay down to a regular external SSD drive should work fine to increase the transfer/copy rate from the External drive to the internal Drive ? I'd been discussing it with some friends , And we're just looking for a bit more of a Definitive answer. But logically if you can connect > House > Transfer to a HDD drive , then you should be able to do the same with a SSD to increase transfer speeds. But how much Quicker is it going to be & is it possible to get the time down to pretty much instantly transfer or at the very least down to a Few seconds 10-30 seconds. As we get closer to to release of the Xbox Series X & PS5 I'm sure this is an issue that's going to be brought up quite a bit. As I'm sure people aren't going to want to wait the same amount of time to download a game to transfer from drive to drive & are going to look for a solution in order to minimize that time as much as possible. Thank you for your time , I hope you, your family, friends & Colleagues all remain safe & healthy during these Unprecedented times .

Hi, I just got the Xbox Series X but am already facing a problem with it. I believe it only supports 120Hz on monitors that have that timing in there "preset display modes", I believe it has something to do with EDID timings (not 100% sure here, learnt all of this today). So you can have a 144Hz monitor but it wont run at 120Hz on the Xbox Series X if the resolution/refresh rate is not in the presets table of the monitor. I know the monitor I have (Dell S2719DGF) can do 120Hz at 1440p as when I set up a custom resolution in the Nvidia control panel on my PC it worked fine, and the monitors OSD was reporting 1440p at 120Hz. Its also important to note that it works at 1080p 120Hz, and that resolution/refresh rate is listed in my monitors display modes table. I basically need to know if there is a way of adding additional preset values to the table stored on the monitor, because if there isn't I believe my options are to either hope Dell updates the drivers for the monitor and adds 1440p/120Hz to the table, or hope Xbox fully unlock the display settings allowing you to choose settings that aren't "officially" supported. I dont think either of these are likely to happen, so I fear I might be stuck if there is no way of solving this myself. I have spoken to both Xbox and Dell support, and they both ended up blaming each other, which I could see happening before I started this. I have attached an image of the table I'm talking about with the timings in-case I didn't explain it very well. Any help will be much appreciated! Thanks

Now that we have most of the information about the PS5 & Xbox SX, we can make better choices about a couch gaming setup purchase. Here are some paths that don't lead to any discussion first: I have all the Youtube money, let me buy ALL the things. No real discussion here. I only have the budget for my gaming PC, so no console for me . No real discussion here. PCMR for the win, F*** consoles . No real discussion here. I don't see the point of couch gaming. I will play all the games on my gaming PC. No real discussion here. I own an older TV or I don't own a TV, so buying a next gen console doesn't make sense. I'll keep playing on my PC (or on my old gen console). No real discussion here. I don't care about native 4K HDR. I'll stream the games with Gamestream on my Shield TV (4K HDR streaming is really not that well implemented or supported). No real discussion here. My TV is 5m (15 feet) away from my gaming PC. Let me buy a bigger HDMI cable and spare me lots of unneeded expenses. No real discussion here. Now the last category, the one that actually forces you to make some choices: you have a gaming PC, and need something to be plugged to the TV for couch gaming. Two years ago, when I bought the PS4, I would have told you a PS5 for sure, because of the exclusives. But some things have changed: The Xbox Game Pass turned out to be a really good value (PC + Xbox + EA Play) compared to having to buy every single game. Plus you can still play the fast paced games on your gaming PC with a 120Hz+ screen, a mouse and a keyboard without having to buy the games again. I consider here that a native 120Hz 4K TV + HDMI 2.1 is still out of reach to most people. More and more things that used to be a strict PS exclusive, now only are a console exclusive or a time limited exclusive, meaning they will come at some point on Xbox or at least on PC. Horizon Zero Dawn is a very good example for that. Final Fantasy too. Now the choices: Actually, let me not buy a console, but build a 2nd gaming PC, an HTPC. My opinion: first, you lock yourself out of the few remaining strict console exclusives, if you care about those. But more importantly, this costs a lot of money, for what you get. A 4K capable GPU, like the recent RTX 3070, costs alone the 500$ of a console. Then, for the next years, if you want to keep up with the latest graphics settings, you have now 2 PCs that require a GPU upgrade. IMO the cost of this to have slightly more realistic rocks and grass doesn't appeal to me. I can justify upgrading my main gaming PC once in a while, but not 2 PCs. If I build a HTPC to never upgrade it, then why not buy a cheaper console then ? Let me buy a Xbox SX My opinion: this turns out to be the best option right now IMO, as it is the one that gives you the most flexibility to play almost all games between your gaming PC and your console, without having to buy games twice, thanks to the awesome Xbox GP. You will lock yourself out of the very few strict PS exclusives remaining though But not as bad as it used to be. Let me buy a PS5 My opinion: only makes sense if your soul really cannot live one day without access to some exclusives like God of War 2 (nothing confirmed yet on exclusivity). Since the exclusives are now becoming less and less real exclusives, this choice makes less and less sense. Also, if you want to play a cross-platform game, you have to choose between buying it on Steam/Epic/... or buying it on the PS store. Once done, you cannot go back. If you get the PS Plus, you cannot choose to play the games on your PC, if they are fast paced games suited for mouse, keyboard and HRR screens. If you already own the Xbox GP for PC only, every game you would like to play on the couch (say Tomb Raider in 4K HDR), you will have to buy it again on the PS Store. Makes more sense then to get an Xbox, and with all the money saved buying duplicate games or subscriptions, buy a 2nd hand PS5 later. Also, why keep a gaming PC if you are fine with couch gaming and slightly less sharp graphics after a few years, you might say ? Well, because BRs like PUBG, Warzone & MMOs like WoW or ESO & other games like Anno or CIV still make the PC pretty much essential. But I think that I would enjoy a game like a next gen Tomb Raider far more in 4K HDR on a big screen with 50-60 (stable) fps, rather than at 120 fps with slightly better graphics on a 27 inch screen without HDR. And buying a high-end 1000$+ HDR monitor when you already bought a nice 4K TV doesn't make much sense to me, money wise, compared to simply buying a 500$ console. Even if high-end HDR monitors come down in price, they still cannot compete in size with 50 inch+ TVs for watching TV shows and movies. What do you think ? What is your take on this. I don't pretend to have the absolute truth on this, only one of many opinions
