  1. Just got given a HP Pavillion x360 -14- ba090na So far: I have given the inside a clean, a brush and hoovered the fan. I have reset and installed latest bios and drivers. Battery is good. I have run and passed all system/component tests in HP PC hardware diagnostics. It's a few years old 2018 maybe, apparently it's been used to play a lot of Rome total war. The fan is pretty loud even when just running basic tasks. But maybe this is just how loud fans are in these machines?! Aim: To run AOE II DE: which it seems to handle okay on low graphic settings but the fans are on full. QUESTION: Is it worth: a: installing an extra 8gb of ram? £40 b: taking apart the fan/heatsink and applying new thermal paste? Both require a fair amount of disassembly, having to take out the, battery, speakers and system board. (pictured) Will it make my AOE II DE experience any better, able to run high graphics? Would i be able to play any more intensive games with that extra 8GB of RAM? Or should i just try and sell it for peanuts?... spec: Product number 1UR69EA Product name HP Pavilion x360 - 14-ba090na Microprocessor Intel® Core™ i5-7200U (2.5 GHz base frequency, up to 3.1 GHz with Intel® Turbo Boost Technology, 3 MB cache, 2 cores) Memory, standard 8 GB DDR4-2133 SDRAM (1 x 8 GB) Video graphics Intel® HD Graphics 620 Integrated Hard drive 256 GB M.2 SSD
  2. So I have an 8BITDO Pro2, which is detected as X360 controller via Bluetooth, and I have OG x360 wireless controllers, which I can connect via dongle. Both work fine in Linux in my steam decks desktop mode as long as I don't have steam itself running. For some reason that results in the right stick moving the mouse cursor and the buttons not registering. I cannot use those controllers in gaming mode at all due to the same problem. They also register as multiple controllers at once, controller 2 and 3. 2 does nothing and 3 just is half and half, half as mouse and half as gaming device... My dualsense and DualShock work flawlessly right out of the box, even with gyro and the trackpad. I thought that especially the x360 controllers would just work, but they don't. Any ideas?
  3. Hey LTT forums, Would love some advice from the community. Been looking at the HP spectre x360 as my possible uni laptop. All the reviews I've read has been great and I am loving it. But I've been burnt by HP in the past with its horrendous customer service and build quality. Having to send my envy back to HP for repairs for 3 weeks straight during submission month was hell. I've been hearing HP has stepped up their game but I really can't be too careful. Would appreciate any feedback from the community about any recent experiences with HP and the late 2016 spectre x360. P.S. I live in Singapore, planning to get my laptop in Malaysia cause its cheaper there. P.S.S those wondering why not just get the XPS 13, the prices over here in Southeast Asia are overly inflated. Shame really.
  4. Finding a lightweight and slim laptop for- Occasional medium quality Adobe Ps Rendering ArcGIS works 2D AutoDesk. - I had HP Pavilion x360 in mind but it got a i3 Kaby Lake i3 7100U (With 4GB DDR4 2133 mhz RAM). Priced $729(!!) in a HP authorized store in India. AutoDesk is a power hungry software and I can't go above $750 for the laptop. I am all ear for any other suggestions.
  5. Hey guys, so it seems I should retire my surface pro 2 for a new 2-in-1 I was looking at the HP spectre x360 with an i5 and 8gb ram, looks great for my needs (would've preferred 16gb but they never go with i5s ) It seems perfect, but it seems like it doesn't work with an active pen. Now I am not a massive stylus user, but I do need it sometimes to jot down a diagram or formula while taking notes in onenote I went to a local computer store where they had this laptop and asked one of the workers if it would work with a pen and he replied that of course it would, since it's a touchscreen I don't put to much trust in that guy... But I don't see why it shouldn't be the case. I heard there is no Active pen support but honestly I don't need that, like I said, simple diagrams and formulas occasionally How can I try out if the model in the store can support a pen? Do you think it will? I have a surface pro 2 pen, should i try to see if that works? Thanks for the help to the clueless dude
  6. Update: Dec 18, 2017 Visit the Typing Test and try! Update: Nov 27, 2017 Due to lack of any documentation when this review was made, there is a misinformation about the location of the memory module. The memory module is not on the underside of the motherboard, it's actually beneath the silver cover, next to the M.2 slot. Original content TLDR version is at the very bottom. HP Envy x360, part of their premium line, is offered with a variety of specifications to choose from. They come with both AMD or Intel based processors, up to 16GB of DDR4 memory on selected models, 1080P IPS display, a solid state drive, including PCIe NVMe, and a mechanical hard drive. The stock configuration just provides the essential specs to get by, but it can also be customzied to your liking such as having a 4K display, combo based storage like SSD+HDD, or opting for a dedicated graphics. On the AMD side, HP only offers the FX line up with a Dark Ash color design, and on the Intel side, you get both 7th or 8th gen in a Natural Silver finish. Comparing the two different color designs, the Dark Ash does look nicer, but for Intel based platforms, there is no choice but to get in Natural Silver. Encountering the laptop, it immediately attracts you towards it, with is sleek design and beauty. While at it, opening up your visual senses, letting you know on what a proper good looking laptop should look like. When closed the laptop profile is quite thin measuring at just 0.77 inches, of course not ultrabook thin, but still thin enough, that it should fit into most laptop carrying case with room to spare for your other laptop accessories. Now even though it's not ultrabook thin, it's still good to have a bit of space in it, allowing internal components to have some breathing room, and not have it sandwiched all together. The built quality is extremely solid, as there is almost no sag or flex towards the screen or keyboard, all thanks to the use of a aluminum chassis. Opening the screen can be achieved with the lift of a finger, where its 360 degrees geared hinge, users can go from laptop to tablet, for when your on the move, stand, while watching your favorite shows or movies, and tent mode during game play or presentation. The screen itself also supports 10 point touch, as well as Windows Ink. With the supported Windows Ink pen, users can start showing their artistic drawing skills, highlight websites, or jot down reminders, and save them for later on. The pen runs on a single quadruple A battery and it's quite good. When using the pen, under the Windows Ink workspace, it comes in two modes, pen and free hand. In pen mode, only the pen input gets registered allowing users to rest their hand on the screen, just like as using a real pen and paper. In free hand mode, only your hand input gets registered, and not the pen. Typing on it feels nice as well, with the low profile keys, which results in less travel distance until it registers a key stroke. Based on personal typing test, the result came in at 81 words per minutes. The keyboard has backlit keys and a number pad on the side. Now some may not like the number pad, cause of the physical size limit of this laptop, to type comfortably, you'll need to sacrifice your viewing experience by place the laptop slightly to one side. The screen included by standard has a maximum resolution of 1920x1080, but with their Micro Edge display, it gives it somewhat a more immersive experience as you'll hardly notice the thin black bezels that surrounds the screen. Viewing angles are extremely good too, up to 180 degrees, with no color shifts, all due to their use of a IPS panel. The webcam is nice as well, with support up to 1920x1080 of video recording resolution at 30FPS, as well as the dual IR beams, for Windows Hello, for those that want to use their face as their security login. On to connectivity, there is a total of 3 usb 3.1 gen 1 ports, with one of them being type C, that also supports display port 1.2 via a adapter, no thunderbolt 3. 2 of the usb ports also has sleep and charge. A combo microphone / headphone jack is also present as well as a standard size SD card reader, and a HDMI 2.0 port capable of driving 4K at 60Hz. There is no ethernet port on this laptop due to its thin profile, so anyone that needs one, will have to settle with a adapter. Other things it has is a power button with built in led, hdd status led, volume rocker, and charging port also with a LED indicator. Using the different modes features on this laptop with its 360 degrees geared hinge. Laptop mode was your standard laptop experience, nothing too special about it. Both Stand and Tent mode offers similar expereience, and is only useful when running programs or games that supports touch screen functionality. Out of the these 2 modes, tent mode is the better option, because the speakers and keyboard will not literally become the bottom based of the laptop and get covered up or scratched by the surface it's put on. Tablet mode with the windows ink is a neat feature, you get to walk around holding a unique pen, while writing on the screen, like you're at the forefront of technology. But this awesome status of yours, is short lived, due to the laptop's physical size and weight of 4.75 pounds, your arms will get tired really quick. Anyone that will need to use their laptop constantly in tablet mode for work or school, will have to look at those with less weight, and with a screen size of 13.3 inch or less. When transitioning from laptop to any other modes, you'll need to pay close attention to where you're holding it because, there is a great chance a program or important document can be accidentally closed off due to the laptop's thin bezel. Speakers by BANG & OLUFSEN sounds pretty good. The track pad is decent, click buttons is a bit on loud side, and battery life is average. At 100% charge, using it for web browsing and other non intensive task, it last about 5 to 6 hours. Charging it back up to near full capacity takes around 1 hour or so, with the use of their built in HP fast charge. One feature that wasn't stated on their site or product page is whether the battery has their built in Smart technology, which stops charging once the battery reaches full capacity, to prevent from over charging and reducing the battery's life span, and to prevent from constantly plug and unplug the charger, increasing the chances of breaking it. They do have a web page with a explanation on this technology, but doesn't specify which models supports this feature. On some of the competing laptop vendors, it comes with a windows utility that let's you know for sure, if you have this feature not, and can also be disable for those that don't want to use it. Upgrading components on this laptop can be accessed by opening up the bottom panel cover, where it reveals the internal components. But the amount of user accessible upgrade is extremely limited. The only components that can be swapped out are the storage drives and battery. All other components will require further disassembly of the laptop just to reach them. To save yourself from this hassle, just go with the highest specs you can get, within your price range. At stock configuration, this specific HP Envy x360 is equipped with a Intel 8th gen Core i5 based on the Kaby Lake-R architecture, with Intel HD graphics, a total of 8GB DDR4 2400MHz, 1TB HDD @7200rpm, and Windows 10 Home Edition 64bit. Benchmark and performance results is perform on a customize version of this laptop, that has a Intel 8th gen Core i5 4C/8T @1.6GHz with Intel HD graphics + Nvidia MX150 graphics with dedicated 4GB of GDDR5 vram. Intel 120GB SATA SSD, and Windows 10 Professional 64bit. All other specification is exactly the same as the stock configuration. Because of the limited capacity of the SSD, all games are running off the external 1TB HDD and everything else is running off the SSD. All are running at stock settings, since there is no overclocking on this laptop. First up on the list is Cinebench R15, a popular cpu benchmark, to see how well the cpu performs Next up are some synthetic benchmarks. The benchmark settings are as follows 3DMark Fire Strike for High Performance PC at 1920x1080, DirectX 11 3DMark Time Spy Extreme at 2560x1440, DirectX 12 Unigine Valley at 1920x1080 High settings, DirectX 11 Unigine Superpositon at 1920x1080 Medium settings, DirectX mode Here is PCMark8 Next up LuxMark Time for some gaming benchmarks. Numbers are in Frames Per Second (FPS). Some games are frame capped and those without mentioning of what quality its running at, means those games don't offer those settings. Now for some real world benchmarks Temperature Price starts out at msrp of $720 dollars for the AMD FX platform and Intel 8th gen stock configuration is just $10 dollars more, starting at $730 dollars. The pen cost $60 dollars for models that does not come included. Some models can be customized by selecting the list of parts that can be choose from. There are different series these laptops, so pay close attention to the model you want, because the physical appearance and design are different from one another. HP Envy line of laptop has always been about having premium quality parts without breaking the bank, and the HP Envy x360 seems to have meet this goal, by giving users a premium looking laptop, with a reasonable price tag. 7. I need help identifying a problem on 2017-07-13's recent usage report. I'm confused how the device could possibly be suspended with 75% and wake up to a 44% battery. The thing I notice is that my HP Spectre x360 15.6" was just pulled out of my bag very warm to touch. The device did not respond to key presses but the power button is lit up and so was my volume mute indicator. I proceeded to just force shutdown and reboot, as you can see in the battery report, it was indicated that it was still suspended. I'm curious to know your opinion on how my device was still "on" but be "suspended" and very warm to touch when removed from my bag. 15:26:49 Suspended 75 % 57,658 mWh 20:55:59 Active Battery 44 % 34,373 mWh battery-report.html Edit: I've attached Event viewer events here. EventViewerExport.csv I do see that the computer somehow was awaken almost immediately after put to sleep.

  10. Got my HP Spectre x360 today. Its the late 2018 model with the following specs and gem cut design : Processor: Intel I7 8750H hexa-core processor @2.20Ghz Video Card: Geforce 1050Ti with Max-Q Design & Intel 630 via Optimus Technology Memory: 16GB LPDDR3 (Dual Channel) Storage: 256GB Toshiba M.2 NVMe SSD [Soon to be upgraded to 1TB Crucial P1 M.2 NVMe SSD] Display: 4K WLED Display @60Hz Battery: 6-cell, 84 Wh Lithium-ion Battery Color: Poseidon Blue Ports: 2x USB Type-C™ Thunderbolt™ 3 (supports HP Sleep & Charge, DP1.4, PD 3.0, Data Transfer); 1x USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A (HP Sleep and Charge); 1 HDMI; 1 headphone/microphone combo Additional Features: Fingerprint Reader, IR Camera w/ Windows Hello, Intel® 802.11b/g/n/ac (2x2) Wi-Fi® and Bluetooth® 5 Combo(MU-MIMO supported) Basically, I am testing this laptop and so far I've had it for a few hours and it is AMAZING. Not a single complaint, but I know that this laptop comes in many models and no one has really done a solid 100% review of this laptop. I am not a content creator but I am more than willing to answer any questions at all or run tests and provide results for anything that anyone with questions about this laptop would like to request. Please let me know what you'd like to know/see and I will provide. So far this post is pretty spot on https://www.reddit.com/r/spectrex360/comments/9xzllv/gemcut_hp_spectre_x360_15_i7_8750h_gtx_1050ti_maxq/?sort=new Below are some section specific corrections/additions to what is mentioned in the post above : -[Thermals - 5/5] So far, I have not done any extensive thermal testing so I will update this section once I have more information; However, within the few hours I've had it, I did a simple league game just to test and for the duration of a 32minute league game, this laptop did not exceed 75c. Will update soon, and anyone who would like specific thermal tests please let me know below -[Wireless Connectivity - 5/5] I did a wifi speed test on Xfinity 150mb/s internet ( not ISP equipment, but using Ubiquiti equipment ) from two rooms away and got a perfect 168mb/s down and 12mb/s upload. Went all over my house and even outside the front door and found absolutely no disconnections/slowdowns. So far so good, again if you've got any specific scenario or more extensive testing you'd like please let me know and it will be done otherwise I may not look further into this but will inform if I come across anything on everyday usage at home and elsewhere. -[Keyboard - 5/5] I may just be sucking off HP here, but this keyboard is AMAZING. Best laptop keyboard I have EVER used. Spectre line has always been praised for its keyboard but this one is honestly top of the charts. It feels really good, and while it may take some getting used to because of the island num pad causing the trackpad to be a bit off-center, if that isn't a turn-off for you or if you are willing to get used to it ( i did within a few hours tops ) then you will be 100% satisfied with this keyboard. Amazing, and I 100% agree with the reviewer it is awesome. [Sound - 3/5] Honestly, i am not the keenest person when it comes to audio quality so with that being said... I love these speakers. Sound solid, there isn't much bass but at least they are pretty loud without any distortion (fill up my room, which is larger than most I'd think since I work from home and have my "office" in one corner while I have a TV, couch, bed, walk-in closet, bathroom and still enough space to workout comfortably with a bench press on the side of the room). -[Battery Life ?/5] Still needs to be tested, so far I charged it to 100% out of the box and have been using it for the past 6 hours straight, it is currently at 45% and I have completely set up windows, downloaded a few programs like chrome, discord, etc and I also ran crystal disk and played one 32min league of legends game. Brightness is at 60%. Again, any specific tests you'd like just let me know! Okay. So, hit me with those questions and requests! I will be actively checking this post (at least for the next few weeks) so feel free, I will be guaranteed to reply within a maximum of 24 hours ( honestly might reply within minutes if I'm sitting at my desktop or on the laptop ) I would also like to request Linus review this laptop at some point... I honestly believe that you guys would be blown away and give a 8 or 9 out of 10 recommendation for the lowest... Maybe if this gets enough attention they might consider it, but either way, I love you guys
  11. On paper the new HP Spectre x360 2019 should be the ultrabook to rule them all, but in practice... things aren't quite so simple. Buy the HP Spectre x360 On Amazon: https://geni.us/AVVl4Ad On Newegg: https://geni.us/ABqaB0
  12. Hey Guys, I have recently bought a HP x360 which has a keyboard backlight. My problem is, that it turns off after 30 seconds of not being used, which destroys the whole purpose of it for me. So I was wondering, if it was even possible to control this feature, and if so if there is a software, a guide or atleast a starting point (for me) for this. Thank you in advance for your answers
  13. How to install internal HDD in HP Pavilion x360. There is only a dummy provided with no casing and cables. I am asking because I already have an internal HDD will all my data in it. https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B07QNM6NSF
  14. Hello LTT forums, I have HP Envy x360 with 2500u ( 15m-bq121dx ) which gives me plenty of early adapter tax lately. I wanted to update to Adrenaline 2020 today since I read good things about it (FREE FPS) and honestly I hoped for a tiny performance boost while playing WoW or HoTS and get rid of some BSODs related to display driver. So I began with simply clicking update button. After updating, my task manager showed like 40% CPU and GPU usage by Adrenaline but I did not care at first. After testing in HoTS I was pretty happy with the outcome. But then my fans would be blowing all the time and it was annoying while browsing web (only like 4 chrome tabs). So I started my investigation. I read somewhere that clean install would probably solve the issue, so I did just that (I did use AMDCleanupUtility) in safe mode and then installed drivers again. It solved the issue, great! Now to the problem part. While browsing through Adrenaline I found something odd. My Freesync was gone - apparently drivers for the screen itself were deleted during clean install (my guess). I tried to reinstall HP provided drivers but my display is no longer FreeSync compatible. Windows sees my display as "Generic PNP display" and I can not update drivers for it. HP Support assistant does not provide anything that could solve the issue, but I will try their diagnostic tool (I am THAT desperate). This is my 1st VRR panel and I really loved it, I don't want to go back Q_Q My question is: Is there any way of solving this issue without factory reset ? Will factory reset even work? I am asking because I bought this PC as an refurbished and upgraded unit (more RAM and m.2) from a third party seller and I am not sure if everything will work. I spent some time trying to figure it out, but without luck. This is honestly first time I am asking for any IT help in my life (apart from work, where I can't do anything on my own since I do not work in IT). Have a great day everyone!
  15. So I came across this problem after I bought a new laptop. The trackpad works fine most of the time but if I move the mouse cursor a tiny bit, and quite fast, it jumps back to the previous position and registers the gesture as a tap and the cursor "clicks". I've tried different drivers, and dug through all of the trackpad settings I could find but to no success. I'll attach a GIF showing how it looks. I'm using an HP Envy X360 13-ag0804no running on Windows 10 Home. The trackpad is a Synaptics SMBus ClickPad. It's probably just a simple setting I haven't found yet but does anyone know why the cursor behaves like this?
  16. I brought a HP-14BA130TU from Harvey Norman (australia) for $888 AUD it has 8gb of ddr4 ram a 768p tn panel touchscreen and i5-8250U cpu, i have been using it for a bit and it kinda sucks 128gb of storage is very little. and the tn panel is absolutely terrible!! makes the whole convertible x360 thing useless if u put it in a mode where you see the paenl upside down colours or PLAT!! theres another laptop at the store on sale now, acer aspire 5 the code name ends in AV, its 768P and has identical specs i5-8250U but it also has a MX130 and 256GB SSD for $10 extra, $898 laptop should i buy? is the screen any good? i bbelieve its tn but i think its still better than hp also both of these laptops normally sell for over $1000?!?
  17. Hello, I'm planning to buy a laptop under $800.I came across many laptops and the one which is stuck in my mind is HP Envy x360 with Ryzen 5 2500u 256 GB SSD +1TB HDD with 8GB ram for $750. I've looked up many reviews and some say screen is not good, some say it is okay, idk what to do.Which other laptop will you suggest ? Also, I'm concerned about the battery life.If at all you recommend this,Should go with 12 gb ram or will 8gb be sufficient? Will the processor benefit from the extra ram? I'll be using this for casual gaming and browsing. Here's the link to product: https://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/hp-envy-x360-15z-touch-laptop-3ec81av-1
  18. Is the 2019 HP Spectre x360 really as bad as the review? (How did HP fail this hard?) I am thinking about buying the 15 inch 512 GB model (2019).
  19. So, this morning I bought a brand spanking new HP ENVY x360 - 15m-cp0012dx . With a 2nd gen Ryzen 7 processor with integrated Vega graphics, I figured the machine would be a breeze for my programming job which is what it's meant for. Turned in on, the first thing I did was mute it to block out Cortana. The computer worked great all day, teaching my new IoT server platform who's boss. After that, I learned my left speaker made a loud hissing and popping noise whenever active, one of my hinges was a little off, windows hello is sometimes great and others useless inconsistently, the Vega drivers are not ready and gave me blue screens, and YouTube videos do REALLY weird, indescribable things. Wow. I bought an HP laptop years ago and the CPU literally desoldered itself from the board. Only HP can release such unfinished, half baked products. Let me know if you want me to post benchmarks and gaming experience Specs: Ryzen 7 2nd gen mobile processor Vega 10 Graphics 8GB of DDR4 RAM (One slot empty according to windows... hehehe) 256GB SATA SSD 1920x1080 touch screen with privacy filter (Which ironically prevents the user from seeing sometimes )
  20. Hi guys, This is a touch one- Bought a new laptop - model no hp x360 14 cd0087tu has an 8th gen i5, 128gb ssd but no graphics card , so integrated graphics only yesterday, i played csgo for the first time in 3 months on this laptop and ofcourse it got heated but not by much. I'd say it handled the game well and I'd consider it a 30-40 min casual gameplay. The backstory- I was high, it was late at night and we used the hp touch pen for acout 10 minutes for fun and sketches and then played cs. Now, after that, I was listening to some songs on youtube on high volume( dont know if it matters ) and put my head in a 'head down' position for about 20 seconds maybe . Next thing i know, when i put my head up, i had these weird lines on my laptop in the bottom portion. These were vertical lines. the touch is working on that area although but it is a bit grayish and it seems that the quality of the screen display output in that portion is of lower resolution. I have attached snapshots. Please do see them. I did not break the laptop, touch the laptop, it didnt fell down, nothing hit it. IDK what happened. but it happened. I am in urgent need of help as I am a student and cannot wait for HP care to sort this thing out which will definitely take weeks. If my screen is lost then the only choice is HP, until then im open to suggestions. I'm thinking this is due to overheating or some battery issue ? IDK !! Thanks in Advance
  21. So first of all, I hate hate hate laptops. Compared to a desktop, they're more expensive, lower power, less reliable, and... I could go on. However I tend to go travelling or on trips away between half a dozen to a dozen times a year, and I've been toying with the idea of getting a laptop to have guaranteed access to a computer on my travels. I do already have an iPad 4 which I've been using for years which serves most purposes, however there's functions it doesn't have which I would like to have whilst we're away. For example: Unloading pictures and videos from my DSLR (& other cameras / drones / etc) SD cards to a HDD Potentially being able to edit them whilst I'm away instead of having to wait to get home and use my more desktop PC. So being able to run Photoshop & Premiere Pro would be something I'd want to do. Ability to potentially play some games on the go, however it wouldn't need to be anything super excessive. One of my favourite games is Civ V. Whilst any laptop will do it, the ability to more easily remote desktop into my computer would be handy. Splashtop works perfectly fine on my iPad & OnePlus 3T, but being able to do it through a computer would definitely be easier. I do like the idea of the 360 degree folding laptops, as it allows them to be used similar to a tablet, but I suppose it isn't something that is absolutely necessary. I would also like it to be touchscreen, but again it isn't something that is absolutely necessary. I'd prefer 16GB of RAM, but given the price point I'm looking at I'd settle for 8GB. The potential to upgrade in the future would be nice. With my general disdain for laptops, I don't want to purchase a cheapo laptop, get disappointed and frustrated with it's crappy performance because then I'll just never use it. However, I also can't afford do spend thousands, nor would I want to on a laptop. So I have been thinking about buying a refurbished laptop with the idea being that I'd be able to get a slightly used or somewhat older model that is higher spec without having to pay full price for it, similar to buying a used car instead of a new car. Which has seemingly lead me to the following laptops: Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 3rd Gen - £629 (with Windows 10 Pro) (for a modern, X1 Carbon you're looking well over £1000): https://www.tier1online.com/728-20bts0mx00/lenovo-thinkpad-x1-carbon-3rd-gen-8gb-240gb-ssd-i7-5600u-full-hd-grade-a HP ENVY x360 AMD Ryzen 5 - £679.97 (brand new on HP's website they're £850, so it's nearly a £200 saving): https://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/refurbished-hp-envy-x360-amd-ryzen-5-2500u-8gb-1tb-128gb-ssd-amd-radeon-v-a1-2ph22ea/version.asp HP Envy x360 again but £0.02 more expensive, but otherwise looks to be the same: https://www.laptopoutlet.co.uk/hp-envy-x360-15-bq150na-15-6-full-hd-touchscreen-2-in-1-laptop-amd-ryzen-5-2500u-2-0-ghz-3-6-ghz-turbo-quad-core-processor-8gb-ram-1tb-128gb-sshd-windows-10-home-64-bit-2ph22ea-abu.html?___SID=U Tier 1 Online also has some slightly even older, bit more damaged X1's that are a couple hundred pounds cheaper but ARE touchscreens: https://www.tier1online.com/refurbished-lenovo-thinkpad-x1-carbon/?sort=bestselling I was pretty settled on the X1 Carbon 3rd Gen but realistically, whilst Thinkpads are legendarily reliable, it probably doesn't actually best suit what I want. Although I wasn't sure I'd find a better deal. Then I came across these HP Envy x360's with the AMP APU which seems like it would actually be better suited in many ways, however the more I research into it, I've found lots of people complaining about issues with the laptop freezing, the screen being too dim and poor representation of the sRGB palette, not to mention the displays coming from a bunch of different manufacturers which is causing quite the variance in quality. Whereas I'm aware that the particular Thinkpad I've found isn't the Yoga version, isn't touchscreen, and won't be any good for games, but being a Thinkpad I presume / except it to be much more reliable especially given the fact I'm looking at purchasing a used / refurbished model. Further helping it, the Thinkpad does come with a one year warranty, whereas the Envy x360 comes with only three months. There is currently an X1 3rd Gen on eBay at about £250 but with a day or so to go, it's likely to go up in price and doesn't look like it would come with any form of warranty from the seller: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lenovo-ThinkPad-X1-Carbon-14-Third-gen-excellent-condition/142833567220?epid=141019033&hash=item21418b45f4:g:i7EAAOSw0J9bIn9G One person mentioned that the Envy x360 came with a privacy screen function, where you press a button and the makes it impossible for the people next to you to see your screen, which I thought sounded like a fancy, but good feature. However I can't find any mention of this anywhere else, other than for the more expensive Spectre models. So... basically, can anyone help me pick a laptop? Well I'm either buying a laptop or a HTC Vive, but whilst my heart says go for the Vive, my brain says that the laptop is the better purchase as it will serve more use in the long run. What do people think of these laptops / deals? Should I be looking elsewhere, or for any other laptops? Any advice at all, really? Edit: I've also found some other slightly more expensive laptops, but not really had chance or now got time to really look into them or see how they compare. Ideally these are more expensive than I'd like to pay, but if anyone can advise me on these as well that would be great! Oh and as far as I'm aware, these are all brand new, unless I'm mistaken. So I suppose that is something to bear in mind with the price. 25. Okay this sounds both logical and weird for some reason to me. "The account will work on both X360 and Xbox One but the multiplayer won't" Ahm wat? I probably don't get it. Source: http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/22/microsoft-no-cross-platform-play-between-xbox-one-and-xbox-360/
