  1. EDIT: All products talked about on this thread was announced. Including the AR glasses. We knew it. Summary Apple’s annual WWDC 2023 is coming up fast. Here is what to expect on June 5th. iOS 17 WWDC is where we first hear about the new iOS version. Rumors have said that a brand-new journaling app could be launched with a mood-tracker added on to see the everyday life of an iPhone user.] Sadly, that is all we know about the new iOS. I know, it’s not a lot. But hey, maybe a new app is coming! M-Series Mac Pro Rumors have surfaced indicating that Apple may be making a Mac Pro desktop with an M-Series Chipset. People have been talking about this for a long time, but it may finally come true. MacBook Air 15” Apple has always had the MacBook Air at 13”. They have experimented with an 11” model, but people speculate that a new 15” model with an M2 processor may hit the market this year, perhaps at WWDC. And now, for the final product (and the craziest.) Apple’s AR/VR Headset People have speculated that Apple would make a VR headset for years. Yet, they say this year (of course), “will be the year.” $3,000?? Well, it is Apple after all. And I’m typing this on an iPhone 14 Pro, so looks like they got me. I don’t know if this is “the year.” VR isn’t as hype as it used to, now it’s AI. Who knows if Apple will ever experiment with AI. Conclusion WWDC 2023 will definitely be an interesting one. I’ve watched WWDC for 2 years straight, and this will be my 3rd. See you on June 5th! Sources cnet mac rumors
  2. OK, not all of it. Some new features are improvements on old things. Some are features Android already has. "Put your phones together and send things like contacts to each other." Hmm you mean like NFC that has been first able to do this on Android (and Windows phone back thn) since 2010? Otherwise, the standby screen basically for when your phone is docked seems alright. Allowing good tracking to let someone know you got home safe is nice. Idk, it's features that have mostly been around, just tweeked, updated, or finally brought to Iphone. Some stuff Android has had.
  3. we could see mini-LED on MacBook Pro model, which are reportedly are being launched at the upcoming WWDC event, they will also feature a new design and colours (probably) and also ports and MagSafe are making a comeback, they will also have next generation Apple M series ARM CPU, (M1X). Quotes My thoughts This is very exciting news, I think the mini-LED is awesome(based on reviews I saw), the blacks are incredible, and also it prevents burn-in, which is a major concern with using OLED. Although Apple reportedly will use OLED for their iPad lineup next year according to some reports. Sources 9to5Mac - https://9to5mac.com/2021/06/01/mini-led-macbook-pro-shipments-reportedly-expected-in-third-quarter/
  4. Does anybody have any idea of what is to come of the WWDC 2017 this year for Apple? I was thinking of iOS 11?
  5. what do you think of todays announcements at wwdc
  6. Sources: Apple Insider, Geekbench, Intel I remember when almost everyone in this forum was criticizing Apple for putting a dual core CPU on a 13" Pro machine as well as maxing the RAM to 16 GB to a 15" Pro machine notwithstanding the fact that mobile Skylake is maxed out to 16GB LPDDR3 on a single channel. Well it looks like Apple is finally giving everyone is dying for. I was hoping this will get the Intel processor with mobile Radeon Vega graphics plus HBM on a single substrate but it turns out that's reserved for the G series processors: Intel® Core™ i7-8809G Processor with Radeon™ RX Vega M GH graphics Intel® Core™ i7-8709G Processor with Radeon™ RX Vega M GH graphics Intel® Core™ i7-8706G Processor with Radeon™ RX Vega M GL graphics Intel® Core™ i7-8705G Processor with Radeon™ RX Vega M GL graphics Intel® Core™ i5-8305G Processor with Radeon™ RX Vega M GL graphics Which means either they'll use mobile RX 580 or mobile Vega graphics on the 15" MacBook Pro. the image above is probably not happening with Apple including the rumored Mac mini refresh And typical for Apple's design they'll probably use a the U series processors like the i5-8250U with 4 cores/8 threads/15W TDP and UHD Graphics 620 for the 13" touchbar and non-touchbar MacBook Pro. What's for sure is that none of these laptops will ever come cheap but probably the same price as to what Apple is pricing it now.
  7. Apple Worldwide Developers Conference: June 2015 The Apple Worldwide Developers Conference has started today and will take place between 8th-12th June at Moscone West in San Francisco. Typically, the Keynote takes place on the first day of WWDC whilst the other days consist of the developers trying the new technologies as well as taking the experience and knowledge of the team at Apple for assistance in working with the new software. Be sure to keep yourself updated on this thread for the latest on what's going on (especially during the Keynote) and also make sure to stick around for the Overview Post at the end of the Keynote... What To Expect Mac OSX 10.11 OSX 10.11 is expected to introduce a variety of bug fixes, security features and stability improvements over OSX 10.10 Yosemite. According to MacRumors, Apple is rumored to be working on a new kernel-level security system called "Rootless". Rootless will be designed to help limit malware from causing issues by preventing access to protected system files. Apple may also make some changes to IMAP-based apps such as Notes, Reminder and Calendars and put them on the iCloud Drive system to help increase security and aid the communication of different Apps. It's also believed that OSX 10.11 will have a new Control Center that resembles that of iOS with tools such as Wifi, Bluetooth and Do Not Disturb. Also, OSX may see the introduction of the San Francisco font, which was originally designed for the Apple Watch... iOS 9 According to MacRumors, it's believed that iOS 9 shall feature a new lifestyle management feature called "Proactive". The rumors tell us that it replaces the iOS Spotlight Search with more advanced search features to as well as a new UI to display content from different Apps such as Contacts and Maps. We're also led to believe that iOS 9 will see some Map improvements, which include the addition of transit directions, an augmented reality view as well as a "Browse Around Me" Points of Interest System... As well as this, it's said that iOS 9 shall include tools for Force Touch, which is believed to suggest that next-gen iOS devices will support this feature, which may also have several important security improvements. Like OSX 10.11, we expect to see the new San Francisco font become system wide as well as split-screen Multitasking and a new, revamped keyboard. New Streaming Music Service It has been suggested that Apple will debut its new, streaming music service at WWDC. It's believed to be a re-branded version of their existing Beats Music Service and would be likely to appear in iTunes and the iOS Music App. Rumors tell us that it'll be priced at the industry standard of $9.99 (USD) like other competing services. The service is not complete yet and Apple is still trying to complete the deals for the service, but it's believed that it will be Introduced at WWDC... iTunes Radio We saw the introduction of iTunes Radio several years ago and it's been understood that Apple is planned on introducing a new version of iTunes Radio. It's designed to complement the new music service, giving people a way to listen to music for free (much like Spotify). What would be nice to see is if Apple will begin to roll it out to more countries... Native Apple Watch Apps Since the launch of the Apple Watch, the Apps have been limited to running through a paired iPhone in order to be able to access then. However, it's believed that developers shall be provided with updated tools that'll help them be able to create native Apps for the Apple Watch... Apple Pay There is a possibility that Apple may make some Apply Pay announcements at WWDC. MacRumors suggested that a new rewards program may be introduced for the payments service, but information is few and far between! There is a chance that Apple will announce the expansion of additional countries, starting with Canada. HomeKit HomeKit is Apple's home automation platform which was first introduced at last year's WWDC. The HomeKit Platform will allow various connected devices to be adjusted from your iOS Device, such as Thermostats, Locks, etc... It's believed that the App will be called "Home" and may be introduced as part of iOS 9... The Keynote The Apple Keynote takes place on the first day of WWDC and is streamed via the Apple Website as well as through some Third Party Sources (which we are not aware of yet)... Stream Requirements To view the Live Stream on Apple.com, your system must reach these requirements: - Safari 6.0.5 or later on Mac OSX 10.8.5 or later. - Safari on iOS 6.0 or later. - Apple TV Streaming required 2nd/3rd Gen Device with Software 6.2 or later. For people without the correct devices and/or software, you will not be able to view the Keynote from the Apple Website. However, when I become aware of a secure third party link, I shall include the URL. Based on last year, VLC Media Player may be required... Please note that it's common for the Apple Live Stream to be buggy or not work at all, this is a known issue, so please expect some downtime (last year's WWDC was especially buggy). Other Keynote Information The Keynote will be taking place on Monday 8th June 2015 at 10am (PDT). Here's some useful time conversions: - 12pm (CDT) - 1pm (EDT) - 6pm (GMT: British Summer Time) - 7pm (CEST) - 8pm (MSK) - 1am (SGT) - 3am (AEST) - 5am (NZST) The Live Stream is here: http://www.apple.com/live/ If you are unable to watch the Live Stream, you will be able to watch it on YouTube in several days: http://www.youtube.com/user/Apple To view the Live Stream on Windows/Android, please follow these instructions: 1) Download VLC Media Player. Windows DOWNLOAD. Android DOWNLOAD. 2) Launch the VLC App. 3) Navigate to the 'Media' tab and select 'Open Network Stream'. 4) In the URL field, type the following link: http://p.events-deli...u8/atv_mvp.m3u8 5) It may appear not to work, but wait until the video has begun (10am PDT) and then refresh the stream. Everything should work! Please note, this thread is open to discussion about the Worldwide Developers Conference and questions relating to WWDC, but please refrain from discussing Stream Issues, otherwise the thread will become cluttered with many different subjects and users may find it difficult to source information. The Keynote: In Pictures Tim Cook kicked off the Keynote and began to discuss the 26th WWDC... The Adoption Rate of Mac OSX Yosemite was shown to have been at 55%... Mac OSX 10.11 would then be known as 'El Capitan'. During the Demo, we was shown some new features within OSX, such as the Pinned Sites and ability to Mute Tabs. Spotlight was the next to receive the loving 'Apple Touch' with a new UI and Natural Language Recognition. Snapping also was announced for 10.11... One of the most important things for OSX is the transition from OpenGL to Metal... It's announced to have a 40% Greater Rendering Efficiency as well as 10x Draw Call Performance, this was shown with the game 'Fortnite'. The developer beta is out on 8th June 2015, with a public beta coming in July and a full, free release in the Autumn. The Keynote then moved onto iOS, and like OSX, had seen a massive Adoption Rate of 83%. iOS 9 is to see some new features within Siri, including a new User Interface. A new feature, Proactive Assistance automatically brings up your playlist when you plug in your headphones... Siri will also now hunt your E-Mails and SMSs for caller information, as well as being smarter with suggestions. Still on the subject of iOS, Apple Pay was discussed. 'Square' is launching a tap and pay system that will support the Pay system... Apple Pay will be coming to the UK in July, with support for a variety of banks including HSBC, Halifax and Santander. It also will be introduced on London's Public Transport, too... Passbook has not been made redundant and is being replaced by 'Wallet'. Apple Maps is also receiving some loving attention, too with 'Transit', which helps you plan your public transport routes. News will be a new App within iOS and will allow you to personalize what News Stories you'd like to know about. The Keyboard is also seeing some new features with a new Toolbar as well as Trackpad... Like OSX, Multitasking will be a massive part of the iOS Overhaul... Compatibility however for the Side-by-Side Multitasking will be limited to the iPad Airs and iPad Minis. A well as the reduction in size for iOS 9 (now only 1.3GB compared to 4.6GB of iOS 8), battery life has been drastically improved. As well as HomeKit now being remotely accessible via iCloud, CarPlay has now seen true car integration. Swift has seen some new updates, and is now completely Open Source! iOS 9 will also be supporting all the same devices that iOS 8 would support. Including iPhone 4s and iPod Touch 5G. The Public Beta will be released in July and the Full Release will be released in the Autumn. WatchOS was the next thing to be discussed, with Native Apps being introduced. Complications and Time Travel was also introduced. Essentially, every iOS feature is being placed natively into the Watch... The Developer Beta is available from 8th June 2015 and will have a Full Release in the Autumn. Then, there was 'One More Thing'... Apple Music is confirmed! A 24/7 Radio Station will be launched called Beats1, featuring Ex-BBC Radio 1 Presenter, Zane Lowe. The Launch for Apple Music will be 30th June and $9.99 per month, and $14.99 for families of up to 6 people. It will be launching in over 100 countries for Mac OSX, iOS, Windows and Android. The best of it is, the first 3 months will be free! I would like to say many thanks to 'Victorious Secret' for providing the Live Updates throughout the Keynote as well as the Images that are used in this OP. WWDC 2015: Overview So, we saw several new things from Apple this year's Keynote for WWDC, let's recap on what's new... Mac OSX 10.11 'El Capitan' Apple made it known that the new version of Mac OSX would be called 'El Capitan', which confirms our suspicions that they've moved away from the big cat generation of OS names. However, we saw several nice, new features within. Some of these include: - New Swipe Commands & Tabs within the Mail App. - Pinned Sites & Tab Mute Function within Safari. - Improvements to Spotlight with new a new User Interface and features such as Natural Language Search. - Mission Control has been greatly improved, now being smoother, cleaner and better optimized. - Side-by-Side Window Management is now an integrated feature in OSX. - Many performance improvements made. - Metal for OSX. Improved rendering performance by 50% and 40% improved rendering efficiency as well as 10x performance improvements in games. There will be a Public Beta that is released in July with a free, full release in the Autumn. iOS 9 iOS 9 is more of a face lift compared to the extensive updates that both iOS 7 and iOS 8 were. One thing that many will rejoice about is the fact that the iOS 9 Download File will be only 1.3GB! Let's take a look at some of the new features... - General improvements to Siri. - Quicktype Keyboard, with a tool bar for different features/tools (eg. Cut, Copy, Paste). - Multitasking has a new UI as well as new gestures for side-by-side app viewing (iPad only). - Unknown Phone Numbers will attempt to be identified by E-Mail Contact Details. - Spotlight is heavily improved with a new User Interface and API Search. - Will automatically note in calendar any invitations you receive. - Offers most common Apps depending on which you use at certain times of day. - Battery optimizations made in iOS 9. - Large improvements to Apple CarPlay. - Variety of improvements to Maps App, with the introduction of "Transit". - New App called 'News', that allows you to personalize what stories you want to know. - Swift will now be open source. Unlike OSX 'El Capitan', we was provided a list of compatible devices for iOS 9 - these are: iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad Air, iPad Air 2, iPad Mini, iPad Mini 2, iPad Mini 3, iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and iPod Touch 5th Generation. The Public Beta will be available in July, with the Full Release coming in the Autumn. Apple Pay Apple Pay was also discussed during the Keynote, although there wasn't quite as much to talk about. Still, this is an overall roundup of what's being planned: - Expansion of Apple Pay to the United Kingdom. Introduction coming in July! - The 'Passbook' App is now known as 'Wallet'. - Apple Pay will include support for Store Cars, Loyalty Cards and Rewards Cards. WatchOS WatchOS launched alongside the introduction of the Apple Watch and is set to receive its first major update. Some of the new features include: - Introduction of Native Apps for WatchOS. - Timepiece includes a variety of new watch faces (such as PhotoFace) with Complications. - Wallet will become a usable feature within WatchOS. - Siri is more advanced and works alongside your iPhone. - Your Apple Watch will remain paired with your iPhone as long as they're on the same Wifi Network. The Developer Beta will be available today (8th June 2015) with the Full Release becoming available in the Autumn. Apple Music Apple Music is probably the thing that people have been most intrigued about, here's what you need to know: - It's designed to be a 'Revolutionary Music Service'. - A 24/7 Global Radio Station called Beats1 will be available with Ex-Radio 1 Presenter, Zane Lowe. - Search & Stream Music from iTunes within the Music App. - "For You" is a personalized selection of music based on songs/artists that you listen to. - "New" allows you to discover new songs/artists as well as new Chart Music. - "Connect" allows the Artist to connect with fans, and for them to Like and Comment on the Artist's Posts. - New Mini PLayer within the Music App on iOS will show when music is playing. Apple Music shall be launching on Tuesday 30th June 2015 for Mac OSX, iOS, Microsoft Windows and Android. It will cost $9.99 per month or $14.99 for families of up to 6 people. However, Apple are providing Apple Music for FREE for the first 3 months (although we believe this offer will not be lasting too long). So, that's about all you need to know from this year's Keynote for the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference 2015. This year mainly was home to Software Updates and developments in Music compared to the last few years with the introduction of the Apple Watch and Mac Pro. Still, let's wait for the Apple Worldwide Consumers Conference to see what they have to offer us!
  8. Apple has just officially announced its annual Worldwide Developers Conference for this year. The conference will take place in San Francisco as usual in early June. WWDC will officially kick off on June 8th and run through June 12th. Apple’s WWDC opening keynote serves as the unveiling stage for the next versions of iOS and OS X. Apple’s press release for the conference teases the announcement of “the future of iOS and OS X” as we would expect. Earlier this year, 9to5Mac reported that Apple will unveil iOS 9 later this year with a focus on performance improvements and overall stability as Apple moves to address recent quality control issues rather than foundational features. Apple may also reveal the Watch SDK for making native apps for the Apple Watch rather than the current collection of WatchKit apps which run on the iPhone and project information to the wearable. Tickets cost $1599 for attendees this year while 350 scholarships will be awarded to student developers and participating STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) organization members. Definitely stoked for this conference. Judging from their tagline "epicenter of change", looks like they have something big up their sleeve Source: https://developer.apple.com/wwdc/ http://9to5mac.com/2015/04/14/wwdc-2015-announced-for-june-8-12-in-san-francisco/
  9. It looks like Linus's prediction may be coming true. PocketNow and BGR reported, there are rumors that Apple will launch a smart home software platform in the upcomng WWDC 2014, to compete with Google, or even Samsung. Apple's offering would probably be similar to the others, and ipads and iphones were use to control some of yr home appliances, lighting, or even home security system. Apple was also rumored to be working with several unspecified device makers, to bring appliances and accessories for this new smarthome platform. http://bgr.com/2014/05/26/apple-smart-home-iphone/ http://www.pocketnow.com/2014/05/26/apple-smart-home-at-wwdc
  10. Apple's yearly keynote @ the WWDC ( world wide developers conference) has been a very surprising event. Apart from Announcing iOS 7 and a new line of Macbook air notebooks. They also announced the new OSX. After joking they wanted to go a different way with the lion name and step from the cat races. Craig said it would be called Sea Lion. Too bad. The name is "Maverick" based on the many surfers in California. They made big changes and additions to the OS such as: longer battery life, 72% less cpu activity while idle, iBooks on mac, Safari web browser with a new engine... http://www.apple.com/osx/preview/
  11. Apple broke tradition and announced hardware at WWDC. M2 Macs are on the way with bigger GPUs and tighter integration with macOS, iOS, and iPadOS - The PC world may need to rethink its priorities.
  12. WHAT IS YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE NEW OS X 10.10? My thoughts. 1. PhotoBooth is missing? Well maybe its just me, I did not have success to find photo booth, well I use photo booth a lot taking just simple photos of when I am sending emails and stuff, and when it is missing I quite don't get where apple is going here when they include a camera on all of their computers not counting mac mini and mac pro (and thinking that apple tv is not a computer) 2. I love the new look Holy crap, I just love the new layout and the design of the new OS. It looks so simple, and so premium, well I looks like I cam finally say that apple has consistency with heir devices. The thing I like the most is the transparent design of the design. Well I don't know why, but its awesome Only thing I don't like is the buttons, feels like different style would work nicer. 3. I heard that Final Cut pro dose not work. Well even though I have the application, I cant even open it, it has this random x mark in the application. Maybe this is the thing, but I read that is that crashing is the problem? Can you guys tell me whats the problem? or the problem I am having is the problem? but I don't really care since I use premier and AE. Well that is some of my opinions on the new OSX 10.10. What is yours? do you just hate Mac and Apple it self, well I think its amazing, and I am more use to it so I like it more than my PC sorry PC fans out there but, No matter what people say I think that Macs are a great Laptop to cary around with. - Phantomore
  13. Hey guys, I am going to open this thread so that real-time discussion can happen between all the people that will be watching the WWDC Keynote live in a few hours. I will also (try) to write a summary of what is happening live. Never done that before, but that is what reporters do there so I'll have a go... Feel free to discuss the announcements as they are made. Hoping for some great and interesting announcements, even if things such as the iPhone 6 or the iWatch probably won't be that relevant to me...
