Looks interesting. My browsing of products gives me the impression that 1) you need the LED product 2) you next need a ?controller hub to plug the LED product into 3) the Hub needs power from the mains power supply. 4 ) the Hub uses a USB to program the LED but I draw a blank on discovery on what software/system other than a maker having some presets files online 5) I don't think I actually saw (starter) kits containing all the items I might need on E Bay. So I was wondering what if I liked the idea of a 8x32 LED matrix or maybe more to cover the case plate below the GFX card, and above the PSU like some cases have. What would I need to read or hardware to buy to make it work off the computers PSU and Win 10 OS

Welcome all to my graphic equaliser build log. A graphic equaliser is simply a graphic display of various frequency bands of audio. My plan is to build one from LEDs (specifically an LED strip), and mount it on my wall. I've actually done a fair bit of work on this so far, but I wanted to make sure i was going to actually finish the project before I posted about it. My plan is eventually to have this mounted on my wall. The basic operation is around the MSGEQ7 graphic equaliser chip and an Arduino Uno (Atmega 328p) microcontroller. The MSGEQ7 outputs an analogue voltage between 0 and 5V based on the amplitude of a given input within 1 of it's 7 frequency bands. The datasheet can be seen below for those of you who are interested: https://www.sparkfun.com/datasheets/Components/General/MSGEQ7.pdf I can go into more detail on this if people are interested, but I won't waste my hypothetical breath on it if no one is! This output is connected to an analogue input on the Arduino, and read by the software. The Arduino then drives serial data to the WS2812S LED strip (using the FastLED library). The LED strip is RGB and 5m long (300 LEDs). I've split this into 7 frequency bands, so each 43 LEDs represents one frequency band. The idea is that each band lights up a number of LEDs based on the volume of the sound in that frequency band (i.e. a graphic equaliser). The software is the magic part of this project, so the code can be seen below, plus some photos. The next stage is to get the hardware soldered onto strip board, and cut up the LED strip into 7 parts. I'm hoping that the code doesn't need much change from this point as I am trash at software (I'm an electronics engineer) compared to hardware. I'm having a bitch of a time getting a new spool of WS2812b 12v RGB LEDs to work with my Asus ROG Strix B450 mobo. My steps thus far, which have yet to result in the strip lighting up at all: 1. Connected entire reel to Asus RGB cable, curious if it would light up. Ensured the orientation was (hopefully) correct, aligning arrow on Asus cable with red/12v wire on strip; connected Asus cable to mobo RGB header--no light. 2. Assuming the strip was too long to be powered by the header, I cut off a section approx. 48 cm.in length. Connected the string to both headers, and tried a calibration with the Aura sync software. Selected both combinations of headers in the program and mobo headers--no light. 3. I'd like to use a multimeter to test the strip in case it shipped faulty or I accidentally fried it, but aside from checking continuity of the 12v and ground rails, along with some probing of the LED pins themselves, I don't really know how to see if the strip is still functional. 4. For the hell of it, connected the short LED strip to a 12v Makita battery via the 12v and ground pins--no light. I recently updated the BIOS to the most recent version (3003), have the newest version of Aura Sync, and can control the native lights on the board without issue. Hello. I have an Asus TUF H370 Pro Gaming motherboard with a 4 pin (12V) RGB header. I want to power and sync a WS2812b LED Strip having a 3 pin (5V) connector. Is this possible? Are there any adapters available out there? If no, can I DIY it? Or, are there any long cheap LED strips for a 4 pin connector? Thank you. Hi, I ordered an addressable RGB strip and made sure to buy them in the format listed in my motherboard manual (ws2812b), but they have a totally different connector on them than what's on my motherboard. These look more like fan connectors while the motherboard slot has 4 pins spots in a row with one missing 2nd from the right. So, do I need an adapter or something or should I buy new strips? I attached photos of both the connectors and the diagram for the slot on my motherboard. Z390 taichi, i7 9700k, gtx 1080, phanteks enthoo pro m tempered glass, corsair ax760, 500gb samsung 970 evo, 2tb 7200rpm hard drive, etc.

This Tron Suit is a Disney TRON licensed costume that I have attached LED's to. Currently, sequences are generated with jinx, but I plan on testing with xLights software as well. The following video is a test of the LED's on the front of the suit. This test allowed me to fine-tune the delay between state updates sent to the lights. This setup demos the music visualization capability of the suit using an Arduino uno microcontroller and 98 ws2812b neopixel LED's to display light sequences developed with jinx . I have two esp32 variations and one Raspberry Pi 4 coming so that I can test alternative methods of driving the LED's. I'm wondering if anyone has any input on software and hardware variations and tweaks that would allow for smoother animations (more FPS). I still have some head-room, I think, so I could push the current system a little harder, but any suggestions are welcomed! So I've bought myself the Asus Maximus Hero X, with the intention of making use of Aura. I knew about the 2 4-pin aura headers when i bought it, but I was surprised to learn about the WS2812B header it had as well. My question is where can you get compatible strips for this WS2812B header? I know this standard exists as strips, many don't include an image of the ends to make sure it's the correct connector. Would this be the correct kind of strip, assuming it has the correct ends? http://amzn.eu/audRcjL - Having had a look it seems to have 3 pins, but right next to each other, not with the gap the Asus board has, so I think it is the wrong connectors, even if it does have the correct 5V, Data, GND designations. If an LED strip has the wrong connectors, where can I get replacement connectors so I can wire it up myself? I'm located in the UK, and would rather not by from abroad if possible, as I'd rather not have to wait weeks to get them, but I will if it's the simplest option.

Hey so i found these kinds of LEDs and they seem to be really awesome because you can do a lot of differnt effects with them. My question/idea can i use an Arduoino Nano ( and some access components) to power and controll them? I plan on having a little case for the Arduoino and then a usb plug ( from the pc ) going into it and from the case there will be a little extension cable for the strip that delivers power and data. Is something like this possible ? And if so , is it complicated to build ? I have never soldered ever in my life befor and i dont know much about electronics
