Hi y'all I have a question. I have a few friends that are real peformance geeks. so they upgrade their pc's every so often. However they don't sell their components. So I actually get their "Old" components from time to time. I got an R7 2700x last time. and i'm quite happy with it. but there is a small problem. I had a coolermaster liquid 120 for a while, However the pump isn't functional somehow. So i had to put in another Cpu cooler. However my friends didn't package the included Wraith Prism/max that came with that Cpu. So i Had to take the stock cooler of my old cpu i had laying around in my attic. This was an Wraith spire, a cooler that was included with my R5 2600x. Its a bit smaller than a wraith prism/max so i don't know if its sufficient for a NON overclocked 2700x Could it damage my motherboard or cpu or is it fine? like a bit hotter than with the normal stock cooler it came with.? That is the only thing i want know. because its highly likely that it will take a week or 2 before my friend finds the cooler in his attic. Thank you for your patiance and or comment. Has anybody found a way to change the stock 1st gen Ryzen's cooler LED colours? OpenRGB doesn't support it and web results don't result in anything meaningful. Also tried running ASUS RGB utility thing under wine, to no avail. -
Hi. I have a question. Im building a new system with a ryzen 5 3500x. I have an existing system with a DeepCool Gammax 300. It’s kind of an okay cooler and inexpensive. Just wondering if i should use that or just the stock Wraith Spire cooler? The gammax 300 is about 6 years old. I know I can probably test that out myself but I kinda dont want to trouble myself with all the thermal compound and everything. I've been looking at reviews of the 1700 (as I might end up buying one) and one thing that worries me is the thermal compound in the Wraith Spire cooler. One of the websites managed to rip the CPU out of its socket while trying to remove the heatsink. It's that nasty, almost glue-like thermal compound that you get with stock coolers. I was thinking that I could remove the compound and replace it with my own. Anyone with a Ryzen here done that by any chance and did it have any adverse or positive effects?

Hi guys. This is my first time building a pc. I am using the wraith spire cooler. But the problem is that I couldn't line up the cooler holes with the given backplate initially. So I had to remove the cooler lot of times during the installation. So do I need a new thermal paste coz I have mounted and unmounted it lot of times? Also this was only during installation but not after powering on the system.

Hi guys. Do you think I need another case fan to keep the temps low while using the stock wraith spire CPU cooler other than the two provided case fans with the corsair 270r? I have included the case pic for reference. And I will be also installing a graphic card in the case.

Hey , i'm mounting wraith spire cooler(r7 1700) on Asus prime x370 , and i have never mounted a cooler with screews(read noob) , and I was expecting to find in the cpu box how much should I tighten the screews, but it's not included and i cannot find it anywhere , not on the amd website or anywhere on the net.

I just finished watching Paul's video on how to OC Ryzen 5's the easy way but I'm still left with questions so am hoping someone here knows. While awaiting replies I'm gonna review my BIOS again & take some pics for reference just in case. 1: Will OC'ing in the manner mentioned here, implement the new frequencies on boot or only while stress testing? 2: My board doesn't have a separate Clear CMOS or BIOS button, it's just done by bridging 2 connectors, how can I test these OC's without risk of getting hard locked? 3: How much do I increase or decrease voltage increments by when instability is encountered? 4: How much do I increase Core Clocks increments by for the same thing? 5: Should I just pump 1.4v in if the auto setting doesn't let me go higher than 3.7Ghz & if not should I just do an offset if my MSI B350M allows? Specs: Ryzen 5 1500x MSI B350M Gaming Pro 16GB G.Skill DDR4 3200 (running at 2133 for now) EVGA G2 550W MasterCase Pro 3 Wraith Spire Cooler Samsung 850 EVO

I have Ryzen 5 1600 on a MSI B350M Mortar and when I launch BIOS it reports 60C CPU temp. Which is weird. When I went off BIOS and launch HW Monitor, it reports 43C and 50C when I multitask. I am thinking maybe because I didn't screw Wraith Spire properly? I didn't screw it tight enough because I thought I might break the processor. Is this temp normal? Why is it reporting different temp on BIOS and on Windows? Also, temperature here in my country hovers around 30-36C as it is summer.

While stress testing my Ryzen 5 1500X at 3.9GHz on 1.3750V (Core) & 1.1V (NB/SoC) I got the following shock in Aida64 Extreme 5.92.4337 Beta. Although it should be noted that even though those are the voltage values I set, what my BIOS actually implemented were 1.384V & 1.112V respectively. A few minutes prior I saw temperature temporarily spike to 86c then drop back to 78. My PC was still running even after Aida turned red but I panicked, shut the system down & set everything back to Auto. Should I try it again to see if my CPU actually throttled down or did I come too close to killing it? Rest of Specs: MSI B350M Gaming Pro, BIOS 2.8, EVGA G2 550W, 3GB MSI GTX 1060 Gaming X, 16GB G.Skill DDR4 3200, 250GB Samsung 850 EVO, Windows 10 Home 64-bit Version 1703 (Build 15063.540), Cooler Master MasterCase Pro 3, CPU Fan is set to run at max while both 140mm case fans are on Auto so 900ish RPM.

After updating to 2.9 from 2.8 BIOS on my MSI B350M Gaming Pro I noticed something odd after trying to reapply my previous stable 3.8GHz OC. Just like before I manually input 1.350V, which the board rounded up to 1.360 which was fine. Now however it's rounding up to 1.4V that I know for 3.8 is very unnecessary. While gaming my temps aren't exceeding 55C, usually in the mid 40's although from past experience I know this voltage would result in 80C or higher when under Aid64 Extreme full load. Here's a screenshot of all the powers for my chip that HW monitor is claiming, to play it safe I'm going to revert my CPU to stock settings for now. 1: Is there anything I should worry about enough to justify rolling back to 2.8 BIOS? 2: Is there something I can tweak to get the voltage I want to actually set?

Will it allow for overclocking to 3.5-3.6 GHz? Does it make a lot of noise?

This is the stock cooler that comes with Ryzen 5 CPU. I'm more into silence than overclocking, so this review is coming from a different perspective. I've seen Youtube comparisons, and a good budget cooler like the Hyper 212 Evo appears to offer meaningfully lower temperatures for demanding tasks. As a stock cooler, the Wraith Spire is designed to be easily accommodated. It is narrow enough to allow room for the RAM slots and short enough to be used in very small form factor cases. It has very good build quality for a stock cooler and it's more aesthetically pleasing than perhaps a majority of aftermarket coolers. It is very easy to install. You just screw the 4 screws in evenly (i.e. 10 rotations per screw, rinse, repeat). It comes with thermal paste pre-applied. As far as noise goes, it won't be appallingly loud for most people. If you don't plan on overclocking or running intense loads, it will be somewhat quiet. It's definitely quieter than fans on the original Xbox One's and PS4's. But it's not up to par for a low-noise PC. It's, by far, the loudest part of my build (with except to the GPU at full load perhaps). If you want silence, or maximum gaming performance, use an aftermarket cooler. Otherwise, for a free cooler, it's not that bad. There's no problem in keeping this cooler in your system until you can afford to upgrade to a better one. Rating: 7/10 (if you're getting it for free) 6/10 (if you're paying for it)

Hi people, So I received my spanking new Ryzen 1600, and, of course, the Wraith Spire cooler came with it. The pre-applied cooling compound appeared yellow -brownish (see attached). Is this normal? I contacted the seller and they claimed "Thats oil within the paste that settles. This is normal and what the paste is made up of." What's your take on this? EDIT: picture failed to attach the first time round.

In my brand new build, I have a masterbox q300l with one fan on the back side that was included. I have an rx 580 and a ryzen 5 2600. According to Speccy, the GPU and motherboard will stay in mid to high 30 C degrees. But when I am just internet browsing the cpu temp is high 80s. So should I get a new fan cooler (I am using stock wraith spire w/ stock thermal paste) or add more fans for the top of the case (or front)?

My specs are listed, and I will include some pictures - But I'm having issues with a 'hot' M.2 SSD. After a boot into Windows, HWiNFO64 has the drive sitting around 34-40c. But as soon as I launch a game, it will spike up to almost 80c - and it never comes very far back down. I played a couple rounds of World of Tanks almost 48 minutes ago, been sitting in Windows with only two tabs of Chrome open (this tab & a Messenger one) and the drive is still sitting in the upper 60s to low 70s. Last night I removed the drive & it's heatsink. There were a couple bubbles under the thermal pad, which I replaced with a new one I cut from a sheet of Arctic Thermal pads. Previously I was using the stock Wraith Spire cooler & the drive never got above 60c with the bit of airflow that cooler provided. With my current Enermax T50 cooler, I tried seating the fan lower down, closer to the mobo to get airflow under the cooler & to the surrounding hardware but it obviously isn't helping. I'd obviously like to keep the T50 cooler on the CPU, both for looks & performance, but not if my boot drive is over heating. The Spire usually tops out around 65-68c with my workloads, so it's a viable option, but a lot louder than my current config. I have two Corsair ML 140MM fans in the front of the chassis that are running around 1400RPM. There's another two 120MM fans in the roof that I put in last night, running around 1200RPM. The RAM is obviously an airflow obstruction, and there's the USB3 cable that could be moved for a bit more airflow maybe. But aside from swapping back to the Spire, anyone else have any options - aside from just cranking the front fans?

Ok, now I'm not having any heat issues for starters. I only slightly OC my Ryzen 7 and I'm not currently putting it under any heavy stress. I'm just thinking ahead. Which does solve my own question I guess but is the wraith spire that bad and should I wait to replace it? I guess that's the real issue. Thanks again for your response. Happy Friday!

The fan stopped spinning, is there any way to RMA the cpu cooler for ryzen? I was changing the board and moved the cpu cooler off, I placed the 2600X on to the X470 from the B450. After I plucked the cooler on it never spun again. Cpu works fine tho

So I have to pat my back that today I managed to overclock my ryzen 5 1600x to 4ghz with my brothers wraith spire stock cooler while managing not to melt down my PC. The temps are actually quite good and i intend to use it on daily basis since it is rock solid. I managed this on my ASUS b350 gaming board simply by overvolting to 1.4volts on vcore. Sidenote I also managed to oc my hyperx fury 2400mhz 2x8gb to 3200mhz :D

Hello, my CPU was running a little hot. Attempted replacing thermal paste, unscrewed cooler, back plate mount for cooler fell off of the motherboard, removed cooler and it pulled out the CPU, tried replacing everything after thermal paste and no power or lighting other than a usb light.

So I'm using stock cooler on my Ryzen 2600x + ASRock b450m mobo, and I found that it idles at around 35~37C with -100mv vcore offset and XMP, but no PBO. I'm only using 2 stock coolers supplied with Meshify C, and I noticed that they are pretty bad... especially the front one is barely moving in any air. So I decided to add more fans before considering buying an aftermarket cooler. But that is just my case, and I wanted to know how other fellows are doing with their Ryzen X-chips. I bought 2600x since at the time of the purchase it was only ~$20-23 more expensive than 2600 and I thought I can just go with the stock cooler even with PBO, and I actually have seen people enabling PBO with the stock cooler, some of which actually show equal or even better result than the one using an aftermarket cooler. But it definitely requires better cooling overall inside the case it seems, and I wanted to know the setups of other people using the chips (say what cooler/how many fans you're using, the UEFI setup etc) and their opinions about the stock cooler. Hi I have a spare wraith cooler at home and I was thinking of selling it but I changed my mind and wanted to offer it to my little cousin, the thing is he has a ryzen 3 or 5 (can't remenber right now) and I don't know if the cooler is compatible, does anyone know if it is or not? would really apreciate feedback soon given he's birthday is coming up and I know he'd like it
