Hello everyone, I've recently put together a new PC build, and I'm looking for some feedback from the community, particularly regarding its performance in World of Warcraft at high refresh rates. My goal is to achieve a smooth gaming experience above 144Hz in 1080p. Here are the details of my build: PCPARTPICKER CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600 3.5 GHz 6-Core Processor Motherboard: Gigabyte B550M K Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory Storage: MSI SPATIUM M370 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 3.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive Video Card: ASRock Radeon RX 6700 XT 12 GB Video Card Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower Case Power Supply: Thermaltake Toughpower GX2 600 W 80+ Gold Certified ATX Power Supply I'm using the ASUS TUF Gaming VG249Q1A monitor, which is a 23.8” 1080P monitor with a 165Hz refresh rate and FreeSync Premium support. I believe I've done my best in assembling this build and I'm quite optimistic about its performance. However, I wanted to reach out to you all for your thoughts and suggestions, just to be sure. Thank you in advance!

*See solution for results* Proof of life: Nothing wrong with my current hardware, this is purely for testing purposes since I have the hardware laying around. Applied the same overclock through MSI Afterburner to my RTX 4090. Screenshot of task manager is simply to demonstrate the hardware, at this moment the system was installing several applications and installing Warframe through Steam, which mind you, was CPU limiting the ~800Mb/sec it would otherwise download at. See the below posts for the data, solution marked as the end result.

Good morning I'm seeking some explanation for my system behavior in World of Warcraft System: Cpu: ryzen 7 5800x (pbo2 enabled, curve optimised at max getting 4.95 to 5.05 ghz Gpu : msi rtx 3060 12gb Ram 3200mhz Ram,Case cooler all good temps not the issues WoW: dx 12 I'v been playing WoW for a long time and i'm pretty familiar with the game and how system perform in different situations the game, i'v been playing on a 1080p monitor 165hz, while playing Raids(big encounter with 20ppl lot of spells and chaos) my cpu usage were about 17%-30%, while my gpu was under 45% with 100-to 120 fps with very high setting I tried DLDSR recently from nvidia 1,7×(1440p) , then suddenly in raids specialy i was getting higher frames betwwen 110, 130 fps with cpu not going above 25% and gpu 60% Outside of raids on gpu bounds area still i'm getting 10 to 20 frames less So is increasing resolution in mmo end up getting us higher frames in cpu intensive encounters on a capable cpu?

Summary January 23 has now come and that means Blizzard games including: World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, Diablo 3, and Overwatch (2) have been shut down in China. The shutdown shouldn't come as a surprise, as it was first announced in November 2022 when Blizzard and Chinese publisher NetEase were unable to reach a renewal agreement. The company’s services in China were suspended at midnight local time on Tuesday, marking the end of an era. Quotes My thoughts This is a really unfavorable scenario, as I know WoW and other Blizzard games are really popular with people all over the world. I also know that the Chinese gaming demographic is one of the largest, reaching 664 million in 2022. Millions of Chinese gamers are affected by this and who knows how long it will be before they gain access to their Blizzard games again. It's good to know that Blizzard is trying to figure out a solution and is already communicating with a prior Chinese publisher. Additionally, it's also good to hear that players are able to back up their history and saved progress while awaiting for another publisher. In the mean time, it will suck for Chinese gamers to have to be overly-patient while an agreement is reached between Blizzard and another publisher. Sadly, they will have to find another game to play in the mean time. Hello, I recently upgraded my first PC build from an Nvidia 1060 6gb to a RTX 3080 because I found one at decent price and got a bit excited and bought it even thought I knew it would be a bit of a bottleneck for my setup, however I have been experiencing very low framerates across different titles (Cyberpunk 2077/ Fallout 4, WoW). I will show below screenshots of my FPS vs another rtx 3080 (found on youtube) which I took in the exact same location and options as it's more than a 100 fps difference which is frustrating : My specs ( XMP profile enabled) : CPU: AMD ryzen 2700x / GPU: Rtx 3080 10gb / RAM :16 gb C14 2400 Mhz / PSU :Seasonic G12 GC Series, 80 PLUS® Gold, 850W / Motherboard(Updated BIOS 2 weeks ago): Asus X370A / Display: Samsung Odyssey 144 refresh rate, 1440p , I was thinking of buying new RAM at 3600 speed, but the ones most affordable are at CL16 latency, not CL14, but even so, I don't think it should account for this FPS gap... I also used user benchmark: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/56742189 and everything seems ok (except maybe for the SSD a bit) And 3d Mark (Demo version) : My FPS and Usage: : How another RTX 3080 performs with the same options but with CPU Intel i7 10700k / 32 gb RAM 3200 or 3600 frequency :

I recently installed a 2080ti graphics card on my desktop and ran WoW. The frame rates are still struggling when in the open world or in a raid. So now I am wondering what kind of cpu can effectively run wow at high refresh rates. WoW is an old game that is not properly optimized to use multiple core cpus even with an update in the latest expansion that was supposed to fix it. Most of the time wow is maxing out a single core. So I am wondering what kind of CPU would run wow well (144 refresh rate in ultra) in 2020.

Hey there, I'm wondering what I should upgrade to play games on max graphics at 1080p. The games I play are Vanilla World of Warcraft (low demanding), World of Tanks and Overwatch. I can already run World of Tanks at medium on the non-HD client and can play WoW comfortably at max. My rig consists of an Asus gtx 650 ti boost graphics card, an AMD FX-8320 CPU, 8 GB of DDR3-1333 RAM, a Samsung 850 pro SSD, an Asus M5A97 R2.0 motherboard, and a 650W psu, I have a corsair RM750x psu and a 1200W as well. I want to know if there are any easy upgrades I can make to play World of Tanks and Overwatch at max graphics, 1080p and know if I'll have any bottlenecks from any parts of my current build. I was thinking of buying an AMD RX 480, because of the great price in canada right now, and gpu to keep this build AMD, but am open to any suggestions. Thanks, I'll be happy to hear input on this.

Hey folks, I got a quick question here. Today I decided to pick up Legion and resub to WoW for the first time in several years, and I've got a question about the game's performance. My rig is in my signature, and apparently that's not enough to max the game and run it at 144 fps (I use a 144 Hz monitor). Is that really the case, or is something messed up here? Benchmarks put my system about where it should be. Unigine Valley on the Extreme HD preset at 1080p scores around 90+ fps and Cinebench scores 1230 multi-threaded and 163 single-threaded as nothing is currently overclocked. So nothing seems wrong with the on-paper performance. Is WoW just badly optimized or badly optimized for Ryzen? It never seems to max out GPU usage.

Ryzen 5 1400 (temps are fine) (latest AMD drivers installed) MSI A320M Grenade (updated to second latest bios) Mushkin REACTOR 250GB WD Blue 500 GB (unplugged but freezes still occurred) (previous part in the old build) G. SKILL Ripjaws V Series 8GB 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2400 (tested memtest and it passed w/ no errors) ASUS Geforce Dual GTX 1050 Ti (previous part in the old build) EVGA 600 B1 So I am trying to find out what is wrongs with friend’s computer. Computer freezes when playing world of Warcraft (also when opening the blizzard app: closed and it still freezes on other games) or Ghost recon wildlands. It occurs randomly. No overclocks present and blue screens have occurred . I thought it was windows creator update, but I think I ruled it out by installing windows 8.1(both fresh installs ). How can i find the thing that is causing the freezes ? What should i be looking in event viewer ? (randomly i am thinking it could be dog hair could haven gotten to the socket ?)

Hi guys! I've recently built my first server and put freenas on it. In the near future I will probably go with ESXi and virtualise freenas on it but for now i've only got freenas. I'd like to run my own WoW server on it so I can play around with it and maybe play with some friends. Do you guys know if I can make it run in a freenas jail? Thanks!

So, I follow many of LTT videos and love both the insane state-of-the-art-over-the-top-builds and the completely budget ones. The different test also give me so indication of what middle-range PC’s can do, however, despite watching the videos I’m a bit scared of throwing myself into a build. Both because I don’t want to completely overdo the PC but at the same time have difficulty finding out what I need. As the title suggest I mostly play WoW and LoL as a casual gamer to relax in my spare time. I know they are not the most demanding games by any means. I want to play them on high/very high/ultra or whatever the highest settings are to get the best experience of the games. And this is my problem. What kind of system do I need to fit this without going over the top? I currently play the games on my work laptop (Lenovo Ultrabook X1 Carbon) with the following specs: - Intel core i5-6300 CPU @ 2.4 GHz - 8 Gb ram Intel HD graphics 520 1. Budget & Location My budget is 5000 DKK (app. 800 USD) which should cover everything including the case and monitor. Location is Denmark. 2. Aim Play WoW and LoL at maximum settings. 3. Monitors A good one for WoW and LoL ? 4. Peripherals I have mouse and keyboard, but need a monitor and a Windows license. 5. Why are you upgrading? Not upgrading, building new from scratch to substitute my laptop. Any help is very much appreciated!

Doing some shopping for my girlfriend for the holidays and I was looking at getting her an Acer Z35. I had built her a computer a while ago and her current specs are a gtx 770 4gb model and an i5 4670k. She mainly plays World of Warcraft and I want to make sure it's able to support the 2560x1080 resolution or if I should consider upgrading the video card to maybe a 1060 also. Ideally, I'd like her to be able to run at least 80 fps average so she could benefit from the higher refresh rate with g-sync.

Hey guys I am trying to see if there is a way to build a cheap computer for my younger brother that can handle wow. Doesn't need to be max graphics or anything crazy like that though I am hoping for it to be able to at least handle sub-1080p at a stable 60fps. I think he will be using a 15inch display from his Gaems system that is 780(?). It does not need peripherals or windows just the tower itself. So I was hoping you fine people could help me piece together a pc for around 200 which I know is a tall order. Even just advice on used parts I should keep an eye out for and prices for said parts. Thank you all. Kithkannin

First and foremost we're on a tight budget of 650 dollars. My friend who isn't techy needs a recommendation. USE CASE - My friend only plays 1 game and that's what the laptop is gonna be for - World of Warcraft. She'd like to run it at 1080p highest settings. So what would be the best budget laptop for her? My current recommendation (couldn't find better specs than this on amazon) - Asus TUF FX505DT Gaming Laptop, 15.6” 120Hz Full HD, AMD Ryzen 5 R5-3550H Processor, GeForce GTX 1650 Graphics, 8GB DDR4, 256GB PCIe SSD, Gigabit Wi-Fi 5 https://www.amazon.com/R5-3550H-Processor-Graphics-FX505DT-AH51-Keyboard/dp/B07VBK4SYS/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2T5DIK9SOOXVS&keywords=asus%2Btuf%2Bgaming%2Blaptop&qid=1580962376&sprefix=asus%2Btuf%2Bgamimg%2B%2Caps%2C427&sr=8-1&th=1 Considering the budget would this be able to run world of warcraft at above 60fps with a 1650 card and what kind of fps can we expect with these specs? Also should she wait a bit considering the new cards coming up soon which might make the 1660 laptops more affordable. So should she wait or would this be a fairly powerful machine for world of warcraft? Also if you have any other recommendations for below 650 dollars with better specs I'm open for suggestions.

I’ve got a strange issue that started occuring a few months ago. When I log into WoW it works fine for 30mins - 90 mins. But suddenly the screen starts freezing for a little bit. - This gets more and more frequent, and the freezes gets longer and longer each time. And it always end up in WoW not answering. Relogging solves the issue for a little while, then it’s starts again. After reading a few threads here, I’ve ran the userbenchmark just after a reboot of the computer, and one run while the problem occurs. I’ll also link a pastebin to my DXdiag. Hopefully someone can find a solution to this mystery. YT link to video of both of the benchmark runs: youtu.be/1VOafqf7bx8 Pastebin of DXdiag: WkW7vhPA

More problems, yay! Last time it was my GPUs, now it's my games... I just want this to end Anyway, my problem this time is that in the last couple days my World of Warcraft has gone from running seamlessly with no issues, to the game freezing whenever I move my cursor. Note: Moving the Camera and turning my character with the mouse is fine, but whenever the cursor is on-screen it makes the game freak the fluff out. PC Specs (If this helps): CPU: I7-7700K (Overclocked to 4.8 Ghz) GPUs: Amd RX 480, Nvidia GTX 1050 ti OC edition (I just had a problem that was resolved with these last night, so I doubt it's the cards. However, I have also been getting a "World of Warcraft cannot start up 3D acceleration whenever I try to chose a card.) Storage: 128 GB SSD, 1TB WD Blue, 4TB WD Blue Other Notes: This is a Lenovo pre-built, specifically the y900, which is no longer available on their site.

Okay so.. I've had strange fps issues in WoW for 9 months. My cpu and gpu usage stay really low so my fps also is low. And if i change my graphics settings higher or lower my gpu & cpu usage change accordingly to keep the same fps (for example if I have 40fps with everything at low I also have 40fps with everything at ultra) My parts: I7 4770K Z87-Pro 1070ti Strix 16gb HyperX Black 1600Mhz Evga Supernova G3 650W Kingston UV400 480gb ssd Kraken X62 cooler I have been in contact with Blizzard engineers, nvidia engineers, intel engineers... and they all ran out of options what may be causing the issue. So believe me I have tried almost everything you can ever think of. I was starting to think it may be a hardware issue but the thing is no other game has this issue. And I had the same problems with my gtx 1060. Soooo.. any magic tricks which could help?

Greetings man! I want to build my own PC, but because I'm only 14 and my mom will buy the parts, it must be a budget computer. 1. Budget & Location I can use ~100€ monthly for parts for the computer, so if the PC will cost 1000€, I'll wait 10 months. I live in Germany. It would be great if you will give me links to ,,mindfactory.de" and not amazon etc. 2. Aim The Computer is going to be used in gaming. The main game I'll play, will be World of Warcraft (I wish i could have something around 60-100FPS on med-high). 3. Monitors I need just one Monitor 1080p 60Hz 4. Peripherals I need some peripherals, and that would be a mouse with 12 buttons on the side, a simple keyboard without any macro- and multimedia buttons. I also want a 900x300mm mousepad and an on-ear headset with auf good microphone. It shouldn't look weird and the only colors can be used are black, red and black-red. Thanks and remember the keyword ,,budget".

First time poster so i hope this is the right place to post this. I am looking to upgrade my computer for playing mostly WoW. I play alot of other games but none as much as WoW. My computer specs: Intel Core i3-4160 3.6GHz Dual-Core Processor MSI H81M-E33 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard Pareema 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive MSI GeForce GTX 960 2GB Video Card EVGA 600B 600W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply I'm looking to buy either a new GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 WINDFORCE OC 6G ASUS STRIX GeForce GTX 970 Overclocked 4 GB Or CPU: Intel i5-6400 (or maybe you can give me a better option) As of now i am hovering around 45-60 in secluded areas and around 30 in raids and highly populated areas. I've heard that WoW only runs on one core so it made me think maybe a new graphics card would raise my fps. But I'm not that great with computers although i did build this one maybe you guys could shed on light on what i should buy. The maximum amount of money i would want to spend is $250, MAYBE a little more if it is worth the extra money.

I recently got a new custom PC from DinoPC, downloaded the pre-patch for Legion on World of Warcraft and noticed immediately that my frames were pretty low whilst in my garrison. I set the graphics settings to the level 7 preset (mixture of high/ultra). I know MMOs are particularly rough on CPUs but I would expect more frames than that. Ive updated the latest drivers through Nvidia Experience, as well as optimised the settings for WoW. The frames don't really go above 30 though when doing that. Could anyone help me troubleshoot what the problem may be? Specs are below: AMD FX 8320 Black Edition NVidia GeForce GTX 960 4GB 16 GB DDR3 RAM Corsair 650VS (650W) Seagate 1TB HDD
