wont boot Lenovo PC won't boot to anything plugged in.
Kostas0pr01 posted a topic in Troubleshooting
Hello guys, I am here asking for help. Today I was making some changes to some of my computers and I swapped some parts around. I have two Lenovo ThinkCentre SFFs (one is M92p other is M82) which I bought refurbished of a local seller in my town, then I swapped the CPU (i7-3770) and the RAM (12gb ddr3 1333mhz) from the m92p to the m82 and it booted successfully. After i did that i got the old parts from the m82 (i5 3570, 8gb ddr3 1333mhz) and putted them in the m92p. So i essentially swapped parts except from the motherboard (proprietary). Now when I try to power on the M92p it shows the logo but then it doesn't boot and it stays there. I have a hdd with windows 11, a ssd with windows 10, and an usb with ventoy, NOTHING will boot. When i disconnect everything it pops up with the "no os found, restarting in 1 sec" screen. I have tried different Ram slots, only one dimm, changing cpu, changing power supply, with or without gpu. If you you have any ideas please write them. Thanks a lot! btw sorry for my english-

So last afternoon, my PC is working fine. I then received 2 fans and a tower cooler. So I unplugged my PC, and then I unplugged the Intel (LGA 1700) CPU cooler. Since it's pretty hard to mount the tower cooler, I also unplugged my GPU and nvme to PCIe card. After the cooler is assembled, plugged on both 4 pin dan and argb port, I proceed to install the fan. The fan seems like able to be daisy chained, like each fan has male and female argb, and male and female 4pin fan. So I chain them, put them on front, and do some cable management to plug it on the appropriate port. Since screwing from angle is pretty hard, so I unplug the USB 3.0 header and 12atx cable, and plug them back after done with the fan stuff. After I plugged everything, GPU, PCIe cards and all, I plug my peripheral (mouse, keyboard, USB wifi) and plugged the PSU cable). I flipped the PSU switch and I press the power button. But then I'm surprised when it doesn't do anything, no lights, no sounds, nothing. I tried unplugging and plugging the PSU cable, doesn't work. I get rid of all front panel header and jumpstart it with a screwdriver, doesn't work. I get rid of every casing fan headers, still no response. My motherboard is MSI mag b660m mortar, so it has lights when there's a problem somewhere (CPU, GPU, ram, etc) but no lights at all. I tried reseating the 12atx cable several times, yet nothing changed

Hi all, So I've recently upgraded to a PC. I changed the CPU, motherboard, RAM, boot SSD, GPU and HDD. This means the case, PSU and fans are all that are the same as the previous PC. The issue is that despite the PSU giving power (connected keyboard and LED light do light up plus can charge a phone just fine) the PC only turns on occasionally. Most of the time the power button does nothing. The first thing I assumed was a faulty power button or connector. So I removed the PWR cable and tried manually bridging the pins. Exact same scenario. After I noticed that the time would often be incorrect I decided to switch out the CMOS battery, unfortunately, that didn't seem to help. Tried setting BIOS settings to default and nothing (btw with stock settings the CPU severely underperforms.) When it is on, its fine. Also in prolonged gaming use so I'd assume the PSU is fine. Hey everyone! I'm in a bit of a bind here and could really use some help. My PC is refusing to budge after a recent power outage. I'm rolling up my sleeves and trying to troubleshoot, but honestly, I'm feeling a bit lost. I've ruled out the power supply as the culprit – tested it on another rig, and it's working like a charm. Now, I've got my sights set on the motherboard. I attempted to kick-start it by briefly shorting the pins usually triggered by the power button (hope I'm using the right lingo), but sadly, no luck on the boot-up front. Any insights or guidance would be seriously appreciated My Specs: EX - H110M Intel Core i7-7700 16 GB Ram T-FORCE (TUF) RX580 Sata SSD CV 650

Ive had this pc for around a month and I wanted to overclock my ram to the freq the ram states it is supposed to be, which is 3600, but when i try to enable xmp and set the freq to anything above 2133 and press save and reset, the pc doesnt reset and nothing pops up meaning it does not boot to bios at all. I have to turn it off and then it will go to bios but the overclock isnt successful. Could anybody out there know the problem? Motherboard - Asus b250f strix GPU - GTX 1060 6bg Processor - Intel i7-6700k @ 4.00GHz, 4 cores Memory - G.skill Ripjaws 8gb x 2 3600 freq Thank you to anyone that helps.

Hi! I'm new here - please show leniency I recently (today) built a new PC. Containing these parts: Motherboard: MSI B550 Gaming Edge Wifi CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X CPU FAN: Noctua NH-D15 GPU: Nvidia GTX 1080 (will soon be replaced as soon as my RTX 3080 arrives) RAM: 16GB corsair Vengeance LPX (3200Mhz) PSU: Corsair RM850 So I have installed the CPU, GPU, RAM - everything - and when I press the start button. Nothing happens! So we've tried it all. re-check the cables (no problem), even re-seat the motherboard in the case. I did read up that you have to update the bios through flash bios (I have a USB stick with the latest bios available) and when I tried it - the bios flash LED did light up, start to blink & then after a few seconds it shut off (which made me think it was done) but apparently it should at least blink for a few minutes, right? So I need help ASAP. I have no idea what to do!!

Hello, I recently built a budget PC ~750$ and overall (after a rocky start) everything has been working great. This is except for one post issue I've run into. It has always happened but I only recently narrowed down the 'cause' of this issue. For some reason, if my monitors are both turned off before turning on my pc, it will never post. The most life I get is the first post LED (dram) staying solid and having to force power off my system. This is a relatively non issue because it just means I have to turn on my monitor a few seconds before my pc, however it does become pretty annoying at times. Is there anyway to fix this? Specs: ASUS GTX 1060 6GB AMD Ryzen 5 3600 Thermaltake Smart 500W 80+ Certified ASUS TUF Gaming B550-Plus Motherboard 16GB XPG Z1 DDR4 3200MHz (2x8) (running 3000MHz as it has refused to post at 3200) Silicon Power 256GB NVMe Boot Drive As I said this is a new build, and my first, so this could easily be a matter of a simple BIOS setting that I haven't enabled/disabled. Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone. I've got a prebuilt PC, that I've been using for around 3. I went to turn in on today, and it just won't do it. At first I thought it might have been a tripped the switch in my extension cord, so I switched it to my wall socket. This unfortunately didn't work. I've tried to flick the PSU power button to both sides, because tbh I can't remember which is which. Last I used it was yesterday or the day before that. Any help is appreciated.

I turn on the PC and it boots into BIOS. The SSD is displayed under the SATA tab, but doesn't show up as a bootable device. I've tried legacy and UEFI startup, I tried with my old SSD from my PC before and it didn't boot, and I tried a fresh install on a HDD I had lying around, neither work. It boots into a USB with windows installer fine, it Can install windows to a new drive (HDD), but then that drive still can't be detected. Windows boot manager also doesn't detect the drives at all. The SSD is a 2.5inch btw. CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X @ 4.9GHz CPU Cooler: Corsair iCUE H100i RGB Pro XT Motherboard: ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (4x8gb) GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT SE Sapphire NITRO+ 16GB Here are my steps I have taken: - Enabled the default D.O.C.P. profile [PC Fails to Boot] - Did the above BUT manually set it to 3600MHz [PC Fails to Boot] - Disabled D.O.C.P. putting to "Auto" and Manually adjust memory speed to 3600MHz [PC Fails to Boot] - Updated BIOS to lasted BIOS [Same issue still occurs. Conclusion: I cannot get my RAM to reach 3600MHz or Higher no matter what I do. Everything MUST RUN on Auto or it doesn't work at all. I am not understanding what I am doing wrong or what could be the problem. My computer runs like a dream, but the memory not running 3600MHz bugs me.

I was in the process of trying to fix a BSOD issue, and I reset the UEFI to defaults as recommended here when this happened. I can’t get it to even boot now. I’ve tinkered with the fan settings in UEFI, but can’t get it to stop doing this to even try to fix the other issue. I have a Corsair AiO on the CPU, and I think the pump is what is connected to the CPU fan header.

Hey, I just ran sfc scan via and it found a corrupt file and successfully repaired it. I shutdown the computer afterwards to see if the scanning and repair drive message would be gone upon boot and I’m stuck on a black screen... any idea what’s wrong? (I have loads of family photos etc that are not backed up ) edit : I’m running windows 10 Thanks for any help, Lex.

I am building my first computer/home server. I finally got it done and it won't boot or even turn on. I rechecked the power supply and the motherboard which seemed fine. Then I made sure everything was seated properly and that was ok. If anybody knows what could be wrong, please let me know.

I bought new ram and a cpu put it all in and it wouldn’t boot. Left in the ram and reinstalled the old cpu and got it to boot. But as soon as I put in the new cpu it only power cycles and only my gpu fans turn on. Operating on windows 11 and have tried resetting cmos. Any suggestions would be helpful thank you

Hello LTT community, I'm new to the forum and I hope I can get some advice. Thanks in advance. So my PC was pretty much new on every component except storage drives, GPU and PSU, which I keep. It was built back in March 2022 and has been working fine until recently. At first I was playing a game and my USB devices (mouse, keyboard and controller) disconnected and came back after a few seconds so I just didn't pay attention and keep playing. The next time I would use my PC I got some random freeze on Windows, nothing responded and I had to restart using the case button. I got a bit worried but then again everything worked fine after. Since that freeze everytime I would try to open a game then I would be able to play for 'x' amount of time until the game and sound would stutter for a few seconds and I lose control over m&kb but the game simulation might even keep running full speed or might just freeze. Re-plugging to different ports wouldn't help since it looks like all USB ports would just die(even though they don't seem to lose power, since RGB stayed on all the time). When restarting after the freezes I would sometimes get the "insert boot drive and press a key to continue screen" but restarting again a few times will make it boot to Windows. My first fix was to reconnect my SATA cables on different ports, reseat RAM and GPU then check if any other cable was loose. That day I was able to play games and use the desktop for like three hours with no problems so I though everything was fixed and went to sleep. Next day on first boot my drives won't get recognized again and playing games or using the desktop led me to freezing again... Didn't know what to do at this point so I though it might have been a Windows or BIOS issue but after a fresh install and new BIOS(F15c) the same would happen... After talking to my friends they told me to that maybe the SATA SSD I use for Windows was dying and that I should reinstall Windows on my newer M2 SSD. So I unplugged my SATA SSD and HDD (just in case) and tried to boot but it won't even do it, GPU and CPU fans would spin full speed indefinitely. I removed one stick of RAM and it booted again no problem, reinstalled Windows on my M2 SSD but noticed my Ethernet port would not connect to the internet and I restarted (from Windows as normal)... after that restart the PC wouldn't post ever again... I tried resetting the CMOS, I tried booting with two of my RAM sticks on all different slots but nothing would work. At this point I think the MB just gave it last breath. But maybe there is something else I could try? At least it's still on warranty but with the difficult times in my country (Argentina) I don't even know if they are willing to give me a new board. Sorry if my grammar is bad, I hope everything is at least somewhat readable. -Gigabyte B550 Aorus Elite V2(F15c) -Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 2x8GB 3600mhz kit -Corsair RM650x PSU 80+ plus gold -Ryzen 7 5700X -EVGA RTX 2070 -Kingston 240GB SSD(usual boot drive), WDC 1TB HDD, WDC 480GB SATA M2 SSD (on CPU lane)

My laptop won't boot linux (HoloISO)
ayama posted a topic in Linux, macOS and Everything Not-Windows
I have a GF75 Thin 9SC laptop with a 4GB GTX 1650 and 16 RAM. I have a problem that it doesn't work to install linux on it, and I tried HoloISO because I liked the idea of steamdeck but being on your computer and so on and I want to try it every now and then when I install my laptop when I boot it he writes me '' Media cecking ... '' and when I look in the bios for the hard boot mode it doesn't read it anymore, and I don't understand why my laptop has linux support but it doesn't want to start and I would like it too to use this linux steamdeck os 3.0. Can I get help with this problem? -
I built my PC in November of 2019. Parts were (originally): r5 2600, asrock b450 pro4, (2*8)16gb 3200mhz crucial ballistix, gigabyte windforce rx 560 4gb, 256gb nvme ssd, 2tb hdd. It worked just fine and I successfully used it as a hackintosh just out of curiosity. I have since upgraded from that gpu to a powercolor rx 580 8gb. I have not tried to hackboot with the 580 until last night. I wanted to check that catalina would work with the upgrade so i uninstalled by game drive and boot ssd and installed the mac hdd. I did this because i thought it would be more simple than dual booting through bios. after i plugged the hdd in it wouldnt post. fans spinning and lights on, no post. i reset the hardware back to my boot ssd and game drive and it still wouldnt boot. I panicked and borrowed my friend's pc (r3 3200g, msi b450m pro-vdh max, evga gtx 960 2gb, (2*8) 16gb gskill 3600mhz stock but running at 2666mhz for some reason) so i could troubleshoot and make sure i didnt kill my parts. First I put my 2600 in his system. Booted just fine, so the processor wasn't dead. Next I put my 580 in his system with my 2600, boot successful. I then put his 3200g in my motherboard and booted just fine with on board graphics. so my motherboard, cpu, gpu, and ram are still working. I went back to my original config and didnt boot. It seemed to be a bios issue, so I went into the bios with the 3200g and set everything to default settings and tried my 2600 again, unsuccessful. I popped out the CMOS battery and left it out overnight so it would have plenty of time to discharge (I know that probably wasnt necessary but other people online said it could take that long). I put it back in this morning but still didn't boot. Any ideas? The next step I was gonna take was updating the bios. Considering how risky that could be, are there any other options that would work?

Hi There! I always come on her to find basic answers but this time, it's a posting time situation . I bought a i7 3930K + Asus Sabertooth x79 Motherboard, with a Asetek Water Cooler pre-installed for around $300CAD, to upgrade my girlfriends FX-8120 Gaming Rig. Basically upon buying it(Obviously used), he said it came out of storage. Showed me it booting it up into windows, and I was like stupidly, seeing all the components working and booting into a drive, I was set and bought it. Upon bringing it home and setting it up in a new case, began all the problems. So installing it wasn't much of an issue, I took of the cooler, and cleaned the CPU in the socket, and cleaned the cooler, and reapplied it with new thermal paste(Arctic Brand). I booted it into BIOS and seen the Temps keep jumping into the high 60's, and then stable out at 70C. I turned it off, and began to do research on if I applied the thermal paste properly and or if the fan/rad configuration was correct. With that said, I booted into windows and it then jumped to 80-85, so I turned it off completely. The next day(Today as of posting) I came to the conclusion that it was obviously the CPU cooler, I reset the BIOS, and while the battery was out I went to the local computer store where they still do curbside pickup, and bought a Cooler Master Hyper 212, and here's where things get crazy. After ONLY switching the cooler out, not touching the RAM, the CPU(again at this point, still never taken out of the socket), the computer won't even boot/post(I still don't know the difference), basically it won't boot even into the BIOS. I've tried reseating the RAM, reseating the CPU(At this point I've taken it out), checked, and no bent or broken pins, the points of contact on the CPU looks fine(I was super scared I cracked the CPU or something by putting the CPU Cooler, but it doesn't seem I did), RAM I tested in the older build, as well as the the PSU, which I've tried a spare as well. I've tried like almost everything myself and a couple friends can think of. I currently have two leads; - After I installed the motherboard the first time, and releasing after what the problem was, I unbolted it, from the case. In doing so, one of the standoffs seem to have came off from the case and is stuck to the bolt from the motherboard. I've read that sometimes standoffs like this COULD be something, not sure any information on this would be super awesome. - Secondly, my friend is searching for his case speaker(the 2-pin one), so I can get the Beep Code, and figure out from there what is going on. I really don't know what to do here, as the motherboard light IS on, but I've also read that that doesn't really mean much and I shouldn't really trust the light. I also didn't man-handle the CPU(I'm super super careful), also no cracks or loud noises when doing the cooler. I didn't do this on carpet I did this on hardwood flooring, but the PC was on carpet when used but not open so I don't see how this matters. I don't think he sold me a bunked system because it did boot into windows on his and MY side. I think it ran real hot because the CPU cooler died, while it was in storage, not sure about that situation but. And before anyone says anything YES I checked ALL connections multiple times, THOROUGHLY. With COVID going on, I can't really test it anywhere, nor can I really justify, spending more $$ if it's already lost cause, I wouldn't mind spending ALITTLE more but yeah. I hope someone can help me, ill answer any questions I can answer, thank you for reading, and have a great day! Hope everyone stays safe out there!

PLEASE HELP. I have an x79 motherboard with an i7 3930k. It has 4 sticks 4gb each at 1333 mhz. I know the mem works. When I plug it into power, the green. Led lights up. It hasn't been used in a while so I used the bios flashback feature, and it worked correctly to flash the latest bios. The cooler works. I tried to turn it on, and it didnt do anything. No fan spin or any sign of activity other than the led. I also tried bridging the per and ground pin on the mobo to turn it on, no luck. I thought my problem was the bios, but it went ok, but the pc still wont turn on. ANY HELP WOULD BE IMMENSLY APPRECIATED

Hello. As the title states, I am having trouble getting my new PC to boot. I built it in the case first time, and nothing happened. I then built it outside the case on a wooden table, and it worked and brought me to BIOS, and all parts worked. I then built it back into the case, and it once again would not boot. My MB is the Asus Z390-A Prime, and my case is the NZXT h510. I feel like this may be a standoff problem of my motherboard touching the case and causing it to short/not boot for safety measures, but I don't know why that is the problem. The very middle standoff is just a pin instead of a screwhole, and my case came with a bag of standoff (see images below), but I don't know what they are used for. As you will find below, I have images of the MB backplate and standoffs that came with the case. In the first image, the very middle standoff/screwhole has a pin through it, and I don't know what this is for or if its a problem. Thank you in advance, I would greatly appreciate any help that can be given. https://imgur.com/gallery/eoSYU6m

I have two graphics cards in my computer, a radeon r9 200, and a radeon 7900, and whenever I have the 7900 plugged in, the computer won't boot, or display on either graphics card, but then, when I unplug the 7900 from the power supply, the R9 works fine, and I don't have any shops or friends around me that have a graphics card that I can test with. Could this be a problem with the power supply, or drivers, or would it be a dead graphics card? If I unplug the R9, and leave the 7900 connected, the computer will boot, but wont display anything.
