EDIT: I have "worked around" this problem by using Rufus to create a UEFI-only installation USB. Guess I'll have to rely on having 2 USBs instead of one. Well, not too bad considering I have more than enough USB sticks. Thanks everyone for your input! ___ Dear LTT forumers, I am struggling to create a bootable USB drive for the installation of Win8.1. "Wait a minute, Win8.1 is terrible and receives no support, don't install it!" - Thanks for worrying, but I have reasons which I can not disclose due to an NDA. I need to be able to install W8.1 on both UEFI and Legacy systems. Currently, I am struggling with creating it properly. I have been following this video, but my USB does not boot into UEFI mode, only in legacy. What am I doing wrong? Thanks a lot!

So, I'm wondering this because recently my laptop's been VERY sluggish. For example, it took about 20 seconds to open task manager, but by opening Task Manager it made my web browser that I was using (opera) to crash a bit. That all was very annoying. But then I thought to myself, would Windows 8.1 be faster? I was wondering that because I know that Windows 8.1 doesn't have as much jibbersh/junk compared to Windows 10. Anyways, in conclusion will Windows 8.1 be faster for my laptop? (And it's just regular things that I'll be running, Excel, Word, Zoom, ect.) Btw here are the specs: Intel Core i5-5300U @ 2.30 GHZ (but Intel Turbo Boost makes it have a maximum of 2.69 GHZ) Intel Graphics 5500. Laptop: Dell Latitude E7450 (from 2015) P.S I'm fine with the Windows 8 start menu.

short version: Need help with WIndows 8 because old laptop running WIndows 10 slow and most of the drivers are made for Win8, laptop is Asus X450CC, need an in-depth guide cause its my first time whole story: I'm getting a new SSD soon for this laptop cause I'm still using X450CC slow as fuck HDD, so I'm gonna need reinstall everything anyway, so I might as well just revert this laptop back to Win8. The reason it was upgraded to WIn10 is because this laptop is my brother's old laptop and I recently started using it cause my old daily driver (Asus T100Chi) charging port finally reach its limit and isn't able to charge anymore, so I just yoink my brother's old laptop since he is not using it anymore, and man it's a massive upgrade, even tho it only got an i5-3337U, 8GB RAM & GT720M, but I have no idea why he upgrade it to WIn10. I also notice that when I play LoL my GPU is barely being use, so I search it up and I found this, and even though LoL is a CPU bound game, in a way it says that if the manufucturer has barely any drivers for WIn10 for this particular laptop, then it shouldn't be upgraded to Win10, in which the site has barely any. And since this is my first time doing these kind of stuff, I need a really step-by-step guide on how to do this Oh and since the site shows most of the drivers are for Win8-64bit, I'd want a guide to Win8-64bit UNLESS the drivers works fine in Win8.1, in which it should be but I'm not sure so I'm just gonna play it safe BONUS QUESTIONS: 1. Is there any Win8 debloater? All I've found is Win10 2. How do you unscrew a stripped screw? I've tried using rubber bands but the one I have are all not wide enough and are tiny-winny ones (Important because one of the screw is one of the screw of the HDD and I can't upgrade it if I can't take it out) 3. Once I get into Win8 is it fine to install the latest driver for a hardware? Or do I have to start from the first then work my way up to the latest because a lot of the site's driver say something like "oh make sure u have an older version first before installing this one m8"

Dear all. A few days ago I left my laptop on the lock screen when I went out an some friends of mine thought it would be a good idea I there were to turn on narrator, high contrast, magnifying glass etc. When I came back I turned all the settings off. However everything is ok apart from the fact some things are still inverted in colour such as the volume control, task-manager and the search bar for my web-browser (chrome). Thanks

I'll make this quick. So basically my neighbor did a Linus to his laptop and now the hard disk is dead. I think that it was previously installed with windows 8 pro QUESTION: if I replaced it and install windows 10 or 8 on it, can it grab the license key from somewhere in the hardware? or I have to buy a new license key?

So I got this Dell Inspiron for Christmas about 5 years ago... it was marketed towards gamers... and all I really played at the time was WOW, Minecraft, and some small indie games... now when I go to play wow it runs fine and no dropped frames and I'm gaming at 60 FPS... and then after about 30 minutes it gets really hot... the fans kick in... my lap feels like I have a molten piece of Metal... apart from that I love the thing... also here is the CPU Before and during wow Idle VVVVV During Initial Logon into wow VVVVV In the middle of New Dalaran... (one of the most populated places in the game) after 5 minutes of just standing there VVVVV Is the fact that Ive had it on for the past 1 day 10 hours 10 minutes and 58 seconds hurting performance... should I reboot every now and then... please tell me what I can do to make my PC run a little less hotter during gaming... and no do not tell me to close background programs because those pictures I showed you were without background programs running except the snipping tool... to obviously take the screenshots. -- Many Thanks, Ninjasupahsquid

I recently restarted my computer and during the restart, windows automatically updated. I since have lost 20-30 fps in CS:GO, but there is no other notable decrease in performance in other games. I've made sure all of my drivers are up to date and running well. It seems to be an entirely CS:GO issue. Does anyone have any idea about what might be going on?

Most of us know what the Windows 8 start menu looks like...it's like a screen. There are results online explaining that you can download some things to change it and make it a menu that pops up and looks nice rather than the original windows 8 screen. I was wondering if there was a way to change it from a screen to a bar (like in windows 7) without having to download anything. If not, can any of you guys recommend a downloadable add on/extension that can make it so I have a start bar rather than a start "Screen". I don't like the windows 8 start menu :*( Running Windows 8.1 64 bit. I don't like the first pic. Prefer the second.

Hi! I have recently purchased an SSD and have Windows 10 Home installed on my HDD (upgraded from 8.1). I was wondering if I create a windows 10 ISO on this PC to install it on the SSD would it remain activated when moving it across? As I don't have my windows 8.1 activation key and all win 10 keys are the same. Thanks for any help!

Hi everybody, My friend helped me build my computer and it has a 120 GB solid state drive. When he did disc management, it seems he placed my system files in two partitions. First primary partition has about 100MB reserved for system files, but another partition on that drive contains Boot, Page File, and Crash Dump. Is it possible to merge my 100MB system partition with the partition that contains the Boot, Page File, etc? That partitions contains the remaining 119 GB or so. Thanks!

Hello all, Just wondering, if I purchase a Windows 7/8/8.1 licence key at present, will I be able to use it to get Windows 10 for free as an upgrade? The reason I ask is that it seems very cheap to buy a Windows 7/8/8.1 licence key, so would it actually work and save me money? Many thanks, -Cameron

Yo guys, I've been thinking about my old laptop: great machine for its time, now it's just meh my mom is currently using it, but mostly only for web browsing and office word work related stuff my question for you is: do you think it's better to turn the pc into a chrome os machine, and teach her google docs, so it became a quicker more simple machine, or update the windows os from 7 to 8? also, if you could explain your opinion i'd be happy to read it as well TY
