  1. !!New Problem!! My games are running, I am browsing the internet pretty smoothly, streaming, facebooking all with out any problems or issues. I am using a dedicated IP as well. But none of these apps (Steam, Uplay, Epic Games, Battle Net) are connecting to the internet. I actually deleted all of my storage, formatted all storage drives, created new partitions and installed WIndows to get rid of this problem permanently. But OMG this problem is persistent and I have no idea why this is happening. When I was installing WIndows, I was doing that with a boot ready USB flash that had an older version of Windows 10. Everything was working fine (Steam, Uplay, Epic Games started working properly) until the Windows started updating itself. When it updated itself to the latest version, the problems re-appeared. I noticed that one of the virus protection definition was not installed and was getting obstructed with an error code. But I managed to fix that. But the game launcher softwares continue to persist with the connectivity problem. At this point, I am guessing that everything works fine on the older version of Windows 10. The problem occurs on the newer version. But this can't be the actual cause of the problem as thousands of people are using the softwares on latest version of WIndows 10 without any issues. I really need some advice on this. I also tried looking up the "Error code - 21" that is popping up in steam but barely anything comes up in Google or Youtube. I contacted Steam help center and they mentioned its a network issue. But I don't know WHAT is the issue with my network because everything else is working fine and the games are running online as well. Seeking for some advice.........!!!
  2. Hello all, I recently put together a system a few months ago I linked the specs as a photo below. The build ran fine for about a month and a half until I ran into the first occurrence of the pink dashes. It was after I updated drivers like an idiot but it went away after a reboot so it was fine. It happened again 2 weeks ago but this time much worse I got error code 43. I tried many things to fix it like: -Updating bios -DDU and reinstalling older drivers -Resetting PC -Re-sitting Video Card -Contacted Nvidia support and downloading hot fix At that point I gave up and powered down the pc for the night and unplugged the power. After I had woken up and booted up the pc everything was in perfect working order. There was no difference in performance or anything. This “fix” lasted until last night where my monitors literally flashed white blinding me and froze. I power cycled the pc and when I turned it on I was met with the pink dashes again my second monitor got no signal and I was back to error 43. My restore points that I had saved magically disappeared as-well. This time I tried a lot of other options out of desperation, -Downloading GeForce Experience, it would say no driver detected and after updating through GE it would still show that I needed to update. -Removing video card, using DDU, replacing card and updating drivers -Checking for viruses -Resetting PC again -Letting windows update drivers (which would say it encountered an error) -Stopping Windows updates I already have it set in my mind that I will buy a new card but is there someone that knows how to fix this issue while I wait? I also don’t have another pc to test the card in because I am overseas.
  3. I've tried searching for answers to the below question with no avail. 1) When will the Windows 7 Update Servers (the servers that host all the OS updates for Win7) be turned off? i.e. when you install Win7 from its SP1 disc, when will Windows Update either not work or will not be able to download any updates from the server beyond the SP1 package you installed from. 2) As the latest disc/iso version of Win7 is SP1, is there a complete or near complete update package available from somewhere? i.e. instead of having to go through all the downloading of updates and reboots, is there an additional package you can download and put on a USB key to have Win7 fully or almost fully updated without having to go through the normal update procedure.

Hi everyone, i´ve had this keyboard form razer that i no longer use so i sold it, but even after delete the razer software and remove the device from device manager, "windows 10 update" keeps downloading updates for the device as "Razer Inc - HIDClass - 6.2.9200.16464" i dont have any other razer device, that keyboard was the only thing form razer that i had.
  5. Really starting to seem incompetent, but I just reinstalled Windows 10 on an old machine off of my nearly 4-year old installation DVD, as we don't have any USB sticks at hand(apparently), and I was just trying to update to the newest version of Windows after Lightroom told me the currently installed one was too old. Only problem now, it won't let me update, instead it tells me where is a problem with the error code 0x80240fff. Already tried running windows' own troubleshooting thingy and restarting a couple of times, but nothing's changed as of yet. Any input on the matter would be more than welcome... Thanks in advance!
  6. Hello, yesterday my pc force updated itself while I was out walking with my dog. When I got back from the walk the pc was processing the update for about an hour, until the completing stage finally began. And the computer finally started rebooting after one hour + of waiting, here's where the problem occurred. My pc booted a lot more than it should've done, but I just ignored it and kept looking at my phone. This repeated about 20+ times before I got bothered by it and realized that something is not right. Before I knew my pc is stuck in an infinite boot loop, I let it boot a few more times while I looked at the screen, just to see if it was a part of the update sequence. It wasn't, so I powered off the pc like I've done other times when something gets stuck and it usually works, but this time it didn't, it just keeps on restarting. I've tried some widows commands without any success, for example, F8 or F10, as for the 3 boot fail method on windows, to try and get the pc to boot into safe mode/secure boot. At this point, I've tried everything to my knowledge and I can't seem to figure it out. I would appreciate a response on how to cope with this since I work from home and my work depends on my computer. I recorded the boot-up process on my phone for y'all to look at, the quick error message displayed is in Swedish. Heres the translation to English=" message one: Trying to restore the installation, message two: regretting/undoing the changes made to your computer" and then it restarts. A little side note, no clue if it's relevant or not but might be good to include, tried to go to the secure erase option on my system SSD drive in BIOS, and noticed that it is in a "Frozen Status" can this be the cause? If possible, it would be awesome to be able to fix this problem without having to do a system reset. Since I'm posting this from my work laptop, I don't have a way to do a file backup, and I have work-related files that are important. So maybe I can just reset my system drive and reinstall Windows. A quick note, I'm not that experienced when it comes to hard drives and resets, so, please I might just be speaking nonsense atm so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks in advance Computer specs Motherboard: B150I PRO GAMING/WIFI/AURA Bios Ver.2606 Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6600K CPU 3.50GHz GPU: Asus GTX970 4GB PCI-E TURBO Memory: 2x Corsair 8192MB 2133 MHz DDR4 Storage: Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250 GB (System drive), WDC WD20EZRX-22D8PB0 2TB(HDD) Example: IMG-0569 (convert-video-online.com) (1).mp4

  8. Hello, my computer is stuck updating: 2019-11 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1809 for x64-based Systems (KB4523205) - Error 0xca00a000 Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8 for Windows 10 Version 1809 for x64 (KB4486153) - Error 0x8000ffff under system and about it says i am on 1809 i have so far tried turning the serves on and off again also setting it to automatic. Also every time the computer restarts it installs an update but still no change. Have also turned off all non windows serves on startup. Tried installing the update offline with a direct download and this give me a error of "the update is not applicable to your computer". Tried to install net framework 4.8, 1809, 1903 and 1909 all giving the same message. Have also deleted all the files in SoftwareDistribution with still no change. any advice welcome. thanks F
  9. Hey all, Built my system 1 roughly 1 year ago, Specs: ASUS Strix 370E-Gaming I7-8700K OC to 5.15Ghz 32 GB Corsair Vengeance RGB pro, 3600 clock XMP 2x 1TB Evo 960s in raid 0 2080Ti Windows 1909. About 6 hours ago today I was just using my PC as normal OW on one screen and a stream open on the other when my computer DSOD on an IRQL not less than or equal error. NBD I have had this happen a few times as this was common when the 2080ti first launched and it had been about 2 months since the last time it occurred. however after this most recent instance of the crash I no longer get video out of the graphics card. I go through my POST make it to the windows loading splash screen and then both my displays report "No signal detected" I have tried may things in the last 6 hours, I booted into safemode to download the latest driver from NVIDIA and installed it, weird thing was that GeForce Experience did not recognize that I had just installed the driver it presented as if it needed to install again. After trying some other things including DDU again I reinstalled windows. After I clean installed I started the updating process, and installed 1703. Windows auto installed an old nvidia driver, and BOOM I had two outputs through my GPU on my desk top. I went to continue to updated windows to 1709 and after a while got back to the sign in page with both monitors still, then, my primary display just turned grey for a while and then both monitors reported no inputs again..... I updated the graphics card driver to the latest and it was reported as installed under device manager but again GeForce Experience did not recognize it as installed.... I then continued to update windows in hopes something would write whatever has happened and got to 1909 which is current. I got to my desk top for about 10 seconds with both displays before both screens died and reported no inputs again. I am done trying for the day and will clean install windows again tomorrow as that lead to the most promise and skip 1709 withe the unified updated patch tool, to see if that solves anything. the only other thought i have would be the BIOS on the GPU got corrupted, in which, that is beyond my depth of PC knowledge. If anyone has any ideas I am more than open to hear them. thanks for your help in advance. tl:dr No display after POST from GPU, currently suspect windows 1709 as the problem. tried about everything I can think of. potential solutions becoming out of my depth.
  10. Hey guys, so Im really in desperate need of help over here, getting Ryzen 3600 up and running. Quick recap, so you know where I'm at: - Started off on Wednesday with: out of the box 3000 ready B450 board (MSI B450 Gaming Plus Max) - After initial setup of windows: kept getting BSODs and had programs crashing etc. [MSI Live Update apparently did not pull the latest BIOS version. So I tried to manually update the latter, which I could only get running after complete disassembly and using the Flashback option on my board] - I get back into Windows 10, everything updated etc.: but still random BSODs, programs just shutting down, or not opening up at all. - I've used: chkdsk sfc /scannow DISM commands (the one that gets missing data from online, dont remember it right now but I can look up if necessary) sfc then said there were no issues detected anymore atfer reinstalling League of Legends, I got crashes again and sfc reported faulty data yet again - So I have turned to the hardware side of things: another one of my SSDs is now in use [The SSD has been formatted on my laptop and worked as a boot drive flawlessly before - on my older 6600k system] - I get into WIN10 install utility and proceed to select Win 10 pro. - At like 80% of the 2nd install step, i get a popup basically saying Windows couldnt be installed "Error code: 0x8007025d" - I google that, seems to be an issue with RAM. - I swap out my Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 2133 Mhz, for a backup ddr4 stick I once bought on sale, thinking another machine was broken. [Ballistix sport Gaming Memory 2400 Mhz] So at this point I have: a new board new cpu backup ram in use changed the SSD All I actually migrated is the PSU and GPU (which wasnt the point of the upgrade in the first place.....) I successfully installed win 10 pro and immediately go to windows update, not installing any programs etc. so I hopefully dont get any software conflicts that bring me back to the sfc and dism debacle. Like the 2nd thing being installed (within Windows Update - some cumulative update, i think 1903) freezes at 73%. The PC doesnt really respond anymore. I was able to move the window of Windows Update around, but i couldnt minimize it, right click on homescreen or taskbar etc. So I shut the PC down, check my BIOS settings. Everything set to auto, Speeds and Voltages seem all alright. Temperatures are ok. There seems to be no wrong setting or failing hardware. (I have AHCI and CSM with legacy support enabled. Selecting UEFI wouldnt let me boot into the Win 10 setup on the USB stick in the first place) Windows boots up successfully and gets back to updating and actually finishes one update. Then it said "requires a restart". So I do that since I wanna do everything step by step and just get this damn machine up and running. Now Im stuck in a Shut down -> POST beep (I knew why to activate that -.-) -> Win attempting to repair -> Blackscreen and repeat. Im really at my limits. I never had to check my BIOS this many times, thinking I did sth wrong. I didnt even spend as much time in BIOS or Windows Setup Process overclocking, let alone initially setting up my 6600k. And back then, that was my first PC. Please tell me what to do now, since my troubleshooting just doesnt cut it apparently. Im running in circles. I thought that after a couple of months everything would be at least stable enough to get it running. Its been like 20 hrs tinkering with this machine and despite the great value Ryzen offers, Im about to ditch this whole accumulation of worries and problems and get a fkn mac mini for christs sake. I just wanted more performance for making music (SMT). I was so excited. Deciding between 3600 and 3700x took me months. But by the time I get this load of *** running, I could probably already have recorded a whole album on my laptop about how horrifying ryzen 3000 was to me - at least so far. This is the first time Im just really tilted and out of solution - attempts PC wise, so I apologize for my salty attitude here I hope you guys understand. Y'all are my last resort before i return this machine tomorrow, cuz these 300 bucks definitely didnt make me wanna throw 500 tantrums a day. Greetings, Chris!
  11. Hello, I just made my account here to ask this question because I need help. My PC has always frozen when Windows 10 wants to restart during the update process. In the past few months, Windows 10 told me that if I don’t update, my version would lose support in November (I was on 1803), but whenever I tried updating, all it did was freeze, forcing me to press the reboot button on my PC. I always had to do that multiple times, but whenever I did it around 70%, it said something like “undoing changes to your PC”, so it changed its mind I guess. But the other day, it asked again and when it froze at 60%, I pressed the reboot button and it did the same thing; it then went to the login screen and froze. It did this every time I restarted or turned it on after turning it off. I had this exact issue when I first built my PC last year and installed Windows 10 and it wasted my whole Summer. Since all the technician that I went to did was do a clean install of Windows 10, that’s what I did. He could never figure out what caused the issue, software or hardware. So after doing a clean install of Windows 10, I checked for updates and had a few minor ones. It froze like before when restarting, but only once this time and no further issue occurred. It seems to only break like it did when big updates want to install. Here are my hardware specs. I hope someone is able to answer why this is happening. CPU: Ryzen 5 2400G RAM: 16GB DDR4 2400 MT/s Motherboard: MSI B350 PC Mate 120GB SSD 1TB HDD Ask if you need more details.
  12. Hey y'all, Might just be paranoid, but I might be infected. I've already scanned with malwarebytes and windows defender, and both came up clean. But I've been having some weird issues lately. Discord keeps crashing consistently (every 10 minutes on the dot, might be unrelated), System process is using around 20-40MB/s disk at any given time, and no matter what I do, absolutely no shutdown commands work. Start>Shutdown doesnt work, shutdown /s /f /t 0 doesn't work, as well as a tap of the power button does absolutely nothing. Now, I'm not sure if it's the new Windows update, or some bad malware. I did just pirate a game, but I also just updated, and I'm not sure which it is. There aren't any sketchy processes running that I've seen. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!
  13. So I was updating my custom built pc but then the display wouldn't apprear so I waited and then closed the pc and reopened it and it worked. I tried to update again, same thing happened, I attempted the same thing and now it still won't display. The keyboard and mouse leds aren't on so it's probably a pc issue. Thanks for the help
  14. A highly important aspect of owning property, such as your computer hardware, the data on it as well as any data it generates, your Windows operating system, and other software you've purchased, is exclusively being the person that has the authority to make decisions over it, and being able to make the decisions that you know are the best for your situation. As the European Union and Australia's top courts have ruled, and as even the US Supreme Court has indirectly supported, you own the software that you purchase, and you possess full property rights apply to your personally-owned software (with no comparable court in the world ruling contradictory to the European Union and Australia's top court rulings). The ownership rights that people possess over their software naturally includes full decision-making authority concerning whether their software may become modified or not, such as by updates. In recent years, ever since the release of Windows 10, Microsoft has shown itself to be struggling to grasp the understanding of these things. Microsoft's efforts to oppose and sabotage Windows and PC system owners' ability to control and stop updates from being installed on their machines and modifying their OSes and storage drives against their wills constitutes a clear violation of property laws and is vandalism of people's computer systems and their personally-owned Windows OSes. If you'd like more information about your ownership of your software, including Windows 10, and to learn about the nature of software licenses and EULAs, you can check out this link: You legally own the software that you purchase, and any claims otherwise are urban myth or corporate propaganda Despite Microsoft's ongoing failure to meet its legal obligations to respect Windows owners' rights and property, there are a variety ways to take back control of your OS and make it more secure and reliable by controlling Windows Update. Here are 10 of them: Method 1 One method is by using the Group Policy editor. The Group Policy editor is only available in Windows 10 Pro and Enterprise. If you have Home edition, you will have to follow one of the other methods. Setting the Group Policy editor policy for Automatic Updates to Disabled does the following: "If the status for this policy is set to Disabled, any updates that are available on Windows Update must be downloaded and installed manually. To do this, search for Windows Update using Start." To Disable the automatic updates group policy: Step 1 - In the start menu, search for Group Policy, and open the policy editor Step 2 - Navigate to: Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Windows Update Step 3 - In the folder containing policies for Windows Update, double-click on the policy titled "Configure Automatic Updates" Step 4 - In the top-left area of the window that pops up, check the box that says Disabled Step 5 - Press OK to close that window If you don't want to stop Windows Update from letting you know when new updates are available, but want to stop automatic downloads and installations of updates, then follow this guide: If following that video guide to stop automatic downloads and installs of Windows updates, then after about 2 months, you might start getting full-screen pop-ups after you boot into the OS saying that updates are available for your OS. There are additional guides online showing how to disable those full-screen pop-ups (which shouldn't be happening in the first place, but Microsoft is not a good company and acts abusively by nature). Method 2 --- now possible with Windows 1803 and newer! Windows Update can be fully disabled by opening Services and then disabling the item for Windows Update. To re-enable Windows Update at a later time, just re-enable its service. If using Windows 1803 or newer, you will have to first give your Windows account "ownership" over the WaaSMedicSvc.dll file that's located in C:\Windows\System32, and possibly over the entire System32 folder. A guide on how to do that is here. After you have control over the WaaSMedicSvc.dll file, then do the following: Step 1 - Go to C:\Windows\System32\ Step 2 - Locate and delete or rename the file WaaSMedicSvc.dll Step 3 - In the start menu, search for and open Services Step 4 - In the Services window, search for Windows Update and double-click on it to open it. Press Stop, and the set the Startup Type to Disabled. Then press OK to close the window. If you need to re-enable the Windows Update service at a later time: Step 1 - In the start menu, search for and open Services Step 2 - In the Services window, search for Windows Update and open it. Press Stop, and the set the Startup Type to Disabled. Then press OK to close the window. If using Windows 10 1709 and earlier, then the WaaSMedicSvc.dll file that automatically resets the Windows Update service isn't there, and so all it takes to disable Windows Update in earlier versions of Windows is this: Step 1 - In the start menu, search for and open Services Step 2 - In the Services window, search for Windows Update and double-click on it to open it. Press Stop, and the set the Startup Type to Disabled. Then press OK to close the window. Method 3 Here is another Group Policy editor method. If you have Windows 10 Pro or Enterprise, you can run the Group Policy editor (GPEdit.msc) and set the Windows Update Source to a non-existent URL. Step 1 - In the start menu, search for Group Policy, and open the policy editor Step 2 - Navigate to: Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Windows Update Step 3 - In the folder containing policies for Windows Update, double-click on the policy titled "Specify Intranet Microsoft update service location" Step 4 - In the upper-left of the Set the policy to "Enabled" Step 4 - In the top-left area of the window that pops up, check the box that says Disabled Step 4 - In the lower-left area of the window, under Options, set the intranet update service address and the intranet statistics server address to a URL that doesn't exist Step 5 - Press OK to close that window Method 4 Use 3rd-party program NTLite to completely remove the Windows Update module from Windows. Removing Windows Update via this method apparently, or might (according to one person), also remove the "turn Windows features on or off" section in the Windows control panel. I don't know if this is true, and it sounds strange to me, but if it does then individual Windows components can still be enabled or disabled using PowerShell. For information on how to do that, visit this page: https://www.ghacks.net/2017/07/14/use-windows-powershell-to-install-optional-features/ Here's a quote of the comment which appears to me to claim that removing Windows Update via NTLite also removes the "turn Windows features on or off" section in the Windows control panel: Method 5 In Windows 10 1803, Microsoft behaves criminally and vandalizes Windows owners' OSes by re-enabling WU-restarting scheduled tasks and the WU service via a new service titled "Windows Update Medic Service". If "Windows Update Medic Service" could be independently disabled, it would be possible to first disable that service and then disable the Windows Update service and have it stay disabled. However, Microsoft is not an honest and fair player, and doesn't respect their customers nor even treats them as people with legitimate interests and goals concerning their personally-owned OS. So, things aren't quite that straight-forward. However, they're still somewhat straight-forward, and here are some programs that will block Windows Update and disable the offending Windows Update Medic service: 5.1 Disable Windows Update with one click using StopUpdates10: https://www.thewindowsclub.com/block-updates-windows-10-stopupdates10 Alternative link: https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/stopupdates10.html 5.2 Block Updates on Windows 10 using Windows Update Blocker, a 3rd-party tool which disables Windows Update: https://www.sordum.org/9470/windows-update-blocker-v1-4/ Alternative link: https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/windows_update_blocker.html 5.3 Block Updates on Windows 10 using StopWinUpdates, a 3rd-party tool which disables Windows Update: https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/stopwinupdates.html 5.4 Control Windows Updates with Sledgehammer scipt: https://www.ghacks.net/2019/04/28/control-windows-updates-with-sledgehammer-formerly-wumt-wrapper-script/ Method 6 There is a method to disable Windows Update involving using an offline Windows account (instead of a Microsoft account) described here: https://www.wintips.org/how-to-turn-off-windows-10-updates-permanently/ For people not wanting their personal and personally-identifiable data harvested by Microsoft, it is strongly recommended to use a regular, "local" Windows account anyway and not a Microsoft account to log into Windows, as using a Microsoft account significantly increases the amount of personally-identifiable Windows usage data that is harvested by Microsoft. Method 7 SimpleWall is a 3rd-party firewall program that has built-in protection rules for Windows Update that can be enabled. https://www.thewindowsclub.com/simplewall-block-applications-from-using-internet Method 8 There is a registry tweak to disable Windows Update, which might work for people on Home editions of Windows 10: https://www.forbes.com/sites/gordonkelly/2015/08/26/windows-10-how-to-stop-forced-updates/#55d4846e46f6 Step 1 - Open the Run command (Win + R), in it type: regedit and press enter Step 2 - Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU Step 3 - In there create a ‘32-bit DWORD’ value called ‘AuOptions’ and under ‘Value Data’ type 2 and click ‘OK’ Step 4 - Open the Settings app (Win + I) and navigate to -> Update and Security -> Windows Updates. Click ‘Check for updates’ which applies the new configuration setting Step 5 - Restart your PC Alternatively, you can try this registry edit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU Key: NoAutoUpdate Type: DWORD Value: 1 To enable updates again, remove the "AU" registry key or delete NoAutoUpdate DWORD. This Microsoft documentation offers alternate registry edits to disable Windows Update: Or: Method 9 You can also manually block Windows Update in your router's firewall, or in 3rd-party firewall software such as Comodo Firewall and PeerBlock. An advantage of using this method is that there is nothing that Microsoft can do to over-ride, reset, or ignore the block. Be aware that some people have claimed that adding Microsoft servers to the Windows hosts file and to the Windows Defender Firewall will not block then because Windows 10 is maliciously designed to ignore any instructed blocking of Microsoft's own servers. I don't have confirmation that this is true, but if it is then you're going to have to block Microsoft's servers in a a 3rd-party firewall program such as those mentioned previously. These are all or some of the Microsoft servers to block in your router's firewall or 3rd-party firewall software to block Windows Update: windowsupdate.microsoft.com *.windowsupdate.microsoft.com *.update.microsoft.com *.windowsupdate.com download.windowsupdate.com download.microsoft.com *.download.windowsupdate.com wustat.windows.com ntservicepack.microsoft.com *.ws.microsoft.com That list was last updated in 2015, so there could be some servers to add to it. There is an updated list of Microsoft's data-harvesting servers to block, and a hosts file with Microsoft's data-harvesting servers already included in it, here: https://encrypt-the-planet.com/windows-10-anti-spy-host-file/ There might be an updated list of Microsoft's Windows Update servers on that site, too. Method 10 You can turn off your Windows 10 OS' connection to Microsoft's Windows Update server. "Used to download operating system patches and updates. If you turn off traffic for these endpoints, the device will not be able to download updates for the operating system." Source process: svchost Protocol: HTTPS Destination: *.windowsupdate.com Destination: fg.download.windowsupdate.com.c.footprint.net For more information on that approach, see this link: https://mspoweruser.com/these-are-the-websites-your-clean-install-windows-pc-connects-to-by-itself/ Method 11 Prevent Windows Update's ability to connect online via the registry. I haven't tried this method and I'm just reporting it as I've seen it stated. People should be aware that the reason why Microsoft tries to prevent Windows Update from being disabled is not due to security of your PC (if that was Microsoft's goal there would be a security-only updates setting, and it would be truly security-only), or making things easier for Microsoft's support efforts (which are dedicated from the outset of a new Windows release to run for a certain time-frame, and can't be reduced otherwise Microsoft would be guilty of false advertising), but is to provide Microsoft as many opportunities as possible to reset your Windows and default programs settings, as well as your data-harvesting settings, all back to the Microsoft defaults where Microsoft is able to harvest as much personal and personally-identifiable data about you as possible, while having lots of opportunities to add more data-harvesting to your OS. And at the "Basic" setting, which is the most minimal data-harvesting setting in Windows 10 Home and Pro versions, Microsoft is continuously harvesting your personal and personally-identifiable data from over 3,500 individual data points. Altogether, that data forms a meticulous and comprehensive picture of all your activities in your Windows OS. Also, Microsoft's documentation on the volume of data they are harvesting at the Basic setting is incomplete, as watching Microsoft's Diagnostic Data Viewer tool on the transmitted data reveals transmitted data containers that can't be referenced in Microsoft's documentation. Selling your personal and personally-identifiable data is a big part of Microsoft's business model now - despite that it is actually illegal for Microsoft to do it because Windows 10 is legally and factually a product (which you own) and not a service (which you merely access). So, Microsoft harvesting your data is analogous to a thief entering your home, taking your possessions, and selling them for profit. This activity by Microsoft, where they commercialize Windows owners' PCs without a license, constitutes the indictable crime of unjust enrichment. Another major reason why Microsoft wants to force Windows updates on people's personal Windows OSes is because the large bi-annual Windows 10 updates grant Microsoft frequent opportunity to deliberately break any 3rd-party UI customization software twice a year. Microsoft does this because any 3rd-party UI customization software stops Microsoft's own UI systems from harvesting your personal and personally-identifiable data. Since Microsoft wants to steal as much of that data from you as possible so that Microsoft can then sell it for their unjust enrichment, Microsoft seeks for chances to break your custom software, and typically does so with each major update when Microsoft resets your Windows, program defaults, and data-privacy settings at the same time. Trying to reason with Microsoft is like talking to a deranged psychopath who doesn't care about you in the least and who is only looking to exploit you as though you are not even human, and expecting them to see common sense and express empathy. Microsoft seeks to dominate and harvest, and not to serve and take into account its customers' needs and interests. Under Satya Nadella, Microsoft views its customers as its enemies to be defeated. I hope this help many people regain their rightful control control of their operating system and to have a much more comfortable and stress-free experience in their own OS. Old information: In Windows 10 version 1803 and onward, the "Windows Update Medic Service" keep re-starting Windows Update and related scheduled tasks and re-creates Windows Update related scheduled tasks even after a person manually stops them, disables them, and removes the scheduled tasks. You could find another way to disable Windows Update Medic Service, which otherwise keeps re-starting Windows Update, and then disable Windows Update and any associated scheduled tasks. http://batcmd.com/windows/10/services/waasmedicsvc/ One way to disable Windows Update Medic Service might be to disable Remote Procedure Call, which is what starts Windows Update Medic Service: http://batcmd.com/windows/10/services/rpcss/ Or by deleting the file "WaaSMedicSvc.dll" that's in the %WinDir%\System32 folder or possibly replacing it with another file and setting its permissions to "read only". There is some information on disabling Windows Update medic Service and preventing it from re-enabling on this page: https://www.sordum.org/9470/windows-update-blocker-v1-1/ Method -- (superceded by current method 2) Remove the files for all Windows 10 services that violate the commands of the system and Windows OS owner. As of Windows 10 1803, the three offending Windows 10 services are: - Windows Update (wuauserv) - Windows Update Medic Service (WaaSMedic) - Update Orchestrator Service (UsoSvc) Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS), which might be thought of as also being involved, reportedly doesn't have any influence over the Windows 10 updates regime. The files to be removed to stop the 3 offending services are all in the directory Windows\System32, and are the following files: wusa.exe - windows update stand alone installer wuapi.dll - windows update wuaueng.dll - windows update wuauclt.exe - old windows update UsoClient.exe - update orchestrator usoapi.dll - update orchestrator usocore.dll - update orchestrator WaaSMedicAssessment.dll - new medic service WaaSMedicSvc.dll - new medic service WaaSMedicPL.dll - new medic service One Windows owner has reported that removing these files has fixed the Windows Update service from re-starting without authorization, without any detrimental effects on the rest of their system's operation. I haven't tried this method myself, and if anyone wants to add their feedback after trying it, please do.
  15. Hey fellas, Quick question, should I update to the latest version of Windows, windows 10 1903 now? I saw it poped up in my settings, saying my version of windows 10 will be no longer supported anytime soon. But, it seems like the new version use to have many incompatibilities with gaming. Does windows fix them now? Shall I do the update? I usually play LOL, Starcraft2, CSGO. I will play subverse. Here is my laptop info below: Gigabyte Aero 15x V8 i7-7850H GTX 1070 Max-q DDR4-2666 16G M.2(PCIe) SSD 512G Many thanks, SpaceHunter
  16. Hello, I tried to update windows and it's beem stuck on prepairing to install for about about 1 hour, anyone know how toi fix this?
  17. Restart and update to stay in support Support for the Windows 10 April 2018 Update end in November 2019. Restart to install a supported version of Windows. [Pick a time] [Restart tonight] [Restart now] __________________________________________ Hate to be "that" person, but is this legitimate? Windows normally dont ask nice and discrete to be updated/restarted. The reason for my "paranoia" is the timing, as I just earlier today downloaded some Chrome extensions: a few google analytics & tag related. I also visited random websites to gain the knowledge to opperate them. Nothing alarming tho, general explainers of google analytics & tags, general explainers about website domains, general explainers about DoS. Windows Defender Security Center showed a yellow icon 3 sec ago, I clicked on it to see what it wanted to tell me. It then said "everything's OK" and turned green. Could just be random. The update message is overlapping the screen, so its on top which is unusual. It removed itself as I wrote this, and is now living in the notification tab in the right corner. Just wanted to hear what you guys think.
  18. I bought a new RTX 2080 ti from Asus and when I tried to run a game with RTX the option to do so was greyed out. From what I've read it's due to my windows version being 1803 and it needs to be updated to 1809 or the latest 1903. But when I try to update with the update file from Microsoft's website, the process downloads and finish and when I restart I get a blue screen reverting everything back to 1803. I was thinking that there is a bug in 1903 that creates this, but when I tried to get the previous 1809 version it's nowhere to be found. Google searches just ends up with click-bait articles and stuff that just point to 1903. Why is this happening? How can I update to a stable and working version of windows that enables RTX on my card?
  19. So...my computer did the usual Windows 10 update without telling me, overnight. The difference is, this time it corrupted my boot partition! I'm wondering, has anyone else seen this problem? My techie dad was the one that saved me. I was going to reinstall windows from a recovery drive, but he was able to get the system reset through the Dell tools/troubleshooting repair options. The Windows recovery options all failed. Will we ever have anything good to say about the Windows 10 Home edition, or are we just all unwilling guinea pigs? I was one month over my warranty on this PC, and Dell wouldn't even offer me phone support without somewhere between $120 and $365 for coverage. Even though I was pretty sure I just needed someone to walk me through the non-Windows recovery options. Thought it was worth sharing! If nothing else, my brain is fried for the day. Too many nerves.
  20. Hey guys. I just updated my laptop to the latest version of Windows 10 1903. I will be downloading the update while studying and install the updates at the end of the day. I will put my lap on sleep when I take some breaks. But after the latest update, after downloading the new patches, my pc will show a blue screen error at around 11:00 pm randomly. It also shows an error code Memory error. But my laptop has 16 gigs of ram and has a 1 TB mechanical hard disk. After the blue screen error, the system reboots and shows updating pc. It's soo annoying. After the update, it messed up my firefox plugins and layout. What will be the reason behind this? It happed a couple of times.
  21. Windows updates got you down? Do you dislike some of the new features of a windows version newer than 1607? You want to avoid any further feature-updates but still get the bug fixes and security patches? You don't care about any Windows 10 features like edge, the WINDOWS STORE (might be actually important to some) or Cortana (or maybe you wish they did not exist)? If your answer to all or most of these questions was a “yes” then you might be a prime candidate for a version of Windows 10 called “LTSB” or “Long-Term Servicing Branch”. This editions intended use case would be critical applications in large businesses. It will only get thoroughly tested security patches, no annoying updates and will forever be on the feature-level of 1607 or the “Anniversary Edition”. It comes without edge, Cortana and even lacks an image viewer. More to that later. It has a special disk-check running at startup which saved my work after a power outage and gets all the features from the “Enterprise” editions of windows. You down? Wanna switch to LTSB? Try all this out in a VM first (I personally use hyper-v, if you don't have a windows pro version then you might wanna give VMware player a try). A few warnings: -this should only be done by more advanced users, you won't really find help on any issues which might be OS related as LTSB is almost strictly used by businesses who talk directly to Microsoft about any problems -not that many drivers come preinstalled (compared to the normal Win10), prepare to spend some time on the internet or even better; grab the latest drivers for all your devices and expansion cards beforehand -microsoft won't sell you a key to this os, more about that later though -as I mentioned before, no windows store Still here? Then let's get started! If you have a legit key of Windows 10 you should connect that with a Microsoft account ( see this article ) in case you'd like to go back to that. Now well start downloading LTSB, not from a Microsoft server but from a site called “The Eye” which is NOT a pirating site. This is completely legal. Windows 10 LTSB from “The Eye” After the download has finished, use Rufus (recommended by Linus) to create a bootable installer USB. If you have troubles getting the PC to boot from your created USB then reformat it and set Rufus to “DD”-mode, this fixed some issues I had myself. Now just install it like any other version of Windows 10. Deactivate the telemetry crap and create a local account. Done. Now over to some programmes I’d recommend: -ImageGlass, a very light yet powerful and versatile image viewer -SpyBot - anti beacon to remove the last bits of tracking -ClassicShell will add better windows search and will enable you to finetune the look of your taskbar. I’ve set mine to fully transparent, just beautiful! Now you are left with an unactivated copy of windows. This might be ok to some, you can just set desktop backgrounds by right-clicking the downloaded image, but others want the “full” experience. Sadly this is not easily possible as MSFT won't sell keys to LTSB to the average joe. Stay away from cracking programmes, please do. You just got a fresh install of Windows, why get malware all over it? Utilising small written lines of batch code that use licensing servers accessible by the public to activate windows is pretty easy. I find this morally ok as there is no way of buying this version and users with existing windows keys already gave Microsoft their money. If they would let me buy it, I would be happy to pay, but they won't. BE CAREFUL! If you find a way of doing this then you NEED to know what you are doing and you NEED to know what that batch file is doing. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS AS THIS IS BORDERLINE ILLEGAL Hope you enjoy your update-free windows experience!
  22. So theres lots of windows updates and I always do them right away because 9 times outta 10 when my PC gets a weird qwerk it's because windows wants to update. I have no idea how that works but literally know theres an update as soon as my PC acts funny. So I always do them, 30 mins ago I did one and PC rebooted as usual and boom windows is now broken and telling me windows needs to be repaired! This have happened to me atleast 3 times in my time using win 10 and always from an update. Pretty sure it's always been a reinstall to fix sort of thing but ughhh I do not want to reinstall it.. there must be some way to fix the install. I am going to have to start making backups before windows updates.
  23. So here I was innocently letting windows 10 update itself last night and this morning. Then I started GTA... I was getting 40-50 FPS on a 1070ti at 1440p... low and behold windows had reactivated it’s weird power saving mode, and my overclockEd 2070 was running at 2.15 ghz instead of 4ghz on all cores. Turned it off, and reset Nvidia power setting to performance and I’m back into business. This is just and FYI should anyone run into a similar situation
  24. Hi there, First time posting, and I hope I checked every box of the "Read before you post" sticky Just built my first system in a long while (mostly from used parts, though all coming from running pc's) and after finally installing Windows 10 (from an iso straight from MS) and getting everything up and running, I installed steam and 3DMark demo and basically any bench I run, the error msg "dxgi_error_device_removed" appears, and the run is halted. This happens many times, and updating the graphics driver changes nothing and after all that, more errors start coming. I suddenly got an error message saying that I need to install .Net framework 4.5.2 every time I try to open DAEMON Tools Lite, and trying to open Discord presents me with the error "Update.exe - Application error. The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000135)." I click yes on the .Net error and it starts the install process, but after a little while it hits me with "HRESULTS 0x80240017" From there I go and check out Windows Update, and sure enough, there is an update available called "2019-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1903 for x64 based Systems (KB4497935)" I hastily click on update now, the update finishes and it asks me to restart the computer, which I do, but upon entering the OS, it prompts me again to install the same update, which fails every time i try to perform it. After a touch of googling, I found some threads mentioning both an SFC scan and a DISM check, and neither one finds any errors. So to simplify: windows update = broken .Net framework = broken benchmarking = broken OS - Windows 10 2019 - 64 bit MB - Gigabyte F2A88XM-D3H (used) Bios - F5 AMD AGESA KaveriPI V0.0.8.1 01/09/2014 CPU - AMD A8-6600K (used) RAM - 2x4GB DDR3 (used) GPU - Sapphire R9 295x2 8GB (used) PSU - Corsair AX860i (new) OS drive - Samsung 830 128GB SSD Steam library drive - Seagate desktop 2TB Nothing in the system is Overclocked I don't know how to describe my problems better, but if anyone could point me in the right direction, that would be awesome! Best regards, KeZeel Iceland
  25. Guys last night I updated my windows. I have a Qualcomm wifi card and its respective driver. My wifi router can support speed upto 10Mbps (1 MBps). But after update I am only getting speeds upto 400Kbps which is insane. I am only reciveing the native speed only by sitting just near therouter. I did a driver update and it no change was seen. I uninstalled and installed the wifi driver again and still showed no promise. Further I did a troubleshoot and saw some errors which was fixed automatically, still no improvement in speed. I reverted the update and the problem seemed to be solved. But after reinstalling my AMD radeon drivers it kicked back again. But this time when ever I plugged in the charger, I cant even connect to my wifi. Wifi works pretty well if I unplug the charger. Should I restore windows to its factory version? Guys please help I cant play fortnite ?
