Greetings, <Background Information> <Current Issue> My headset is throwing an error code 1-8. I have never experienced this specific error before and I hadn't even turned off my computer since the last play session where it worked. Nothing was installed or changed as far as I'm aware. The HP logo on the headset lights up, windows detects it as an inactive display, but it won't turn on. <Things I've Tried> <Specs> CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 3.8 GHz 8-Core Processor Motherboard: MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 Motherboard RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 64 GB (2 x 32 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory GPU: EVGA FTW3 ULTRA GAMING GeForce RTX 3090 Ti 24 GB Video Card (Headset plugged in via Cable Matters Displayport Repeater) PSU: Corsair RM1000e (2023) 1000 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply OS: Windows 11 64bit Bios: A.60 I run only one main monitor at native 1920x1080p at 60 Hz. It boggles my brain what could have possibly caused it. I really want to believe that it's a software issue, but at this point I haven't the slightest clue. <Image Descriptions>

Hello there, I bought a Samsung Oddysey Windows Mixed Reality Headset about a year ago. It has been serving me well and has worked pretty much flawlessly 90%, and the few times it doesn't simply reconnecting it and resetting the room boundaries usually fixes whatever issues. I recently purchased Half-Life Alyx during the Steam Summer Sale. Now, I normally run my VR games off my laptop with a GTX 1650 and a Intel Core i5 9300H. While this setup is not ideal for VR, it has been perfectly adequate for the simple games I have played like Beat Saber and Superhot. I bought Alyx knowing that there was a good chance it wouldn't run very well on my laptop, and I was right. I played for about 20 minutes and the high frame-times and low frame-rate started making me feel nauseous. However, I knew this would have probably happened so I decided to switch over to my desktop with an RX 580 and a Ryzen 1600, conveniently the exact minimum requirement for Alyx. Here are the rest of the specs. CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.8MHz GPU: Gigabyte RX 580 8GB (not overclocked) Motherboard: MSI Gaming Pro X370 RAM: 16GB 3200mhz HyperX Fury Storage (where the game is installed): 3TB WD Cavier Blue Power Supply: SeaSonic M12II 620W OS: Windows 10 Home I am running the game at low settings. The reason I don't usually play VR on my desktop is the room that it is in is quite small compared to the areas I can take my laptop too. It had been quite awhile since I last played a VR game on my desktop, but I didn't think it would be an issue. However, after starting VR I was having problems. First, the controllers would drift everywhere and even when they were tracking normally they would sorta shake making it hard to select things. Sometimes they would just go missing for a seconds on end and come back randomly. The worst thing by far however was the headset itself. At least every 30-60 seconds the headset display would say "Lost Boundary" and just freeze, spaz out for a few seconds, and then go back to normal for 30-60 more seconds until it happened again. It is nauseating. Sometimes, it doesn't even say lost boundary, the display will just freeze. You can still look around but it is just a black void around you. By the way, when all of this happens you can also see the freezing on the monitor mirroring the game. I can be pretty sure it is not the headset itself because everything worked fine on my laptop, even when running Alyx. I am also quite certain these issues are not Alyx exclusive as they happen in the WMR House hub place as well, but admittedly not as frequently. Here is a list of things I have already tried based on internet recommendations... Reinstalled Windows Mixed Reality Clean install of graphics drivers Disconnected everything except necessary peripherals from USB. The only things connected are the Headset and Bluetooth Dongle on the back ports and Mouse Dongle in the front port. The only things connected to Bluetooth are the controllers and a bluetooth keyboard. Tried connecting headset to different USB 3.0 ports. I even tried a USB 3.1 port, but it wouldn't even let me launch VR with that without giving me an error, so only USB 3.0. The headset connects via HDMI and my RX 580 only has 1 HDMI Port so I can't really do anything else there. By the way, the monitor I am using is connected via DisplayPort Turned off motion smoothing in SteamVR Lowered the "Quality" Settings in the Windows Mixed Reality Settings Cleared Environment Data from Windows Mixed Reality Settings Reinstalled SteamVR (and SteamVR for WMR) I have USB and HDMI 6ft extensions, and I tried disconnecting those but still the same. I'm starting to run out of ideas. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I tried to provide as much information as possible, but please let me know if you need anymore information on the setup. Thanks everyone!

I use an HP Reverb G2, a Windows Mixed Reality headset. I play all my games through SteamVR, and it's worked flawlessly in the past. Now when I try to launch Beat Saber, an animation and sound first plays that's similar to when SteamVR first boots from WMR. Then, once I'm in there, Beat Saber resets to my default centre position rather than what I usually recentre to in SteamVR; and I can't open the SteamVR menu, which seems to indicate to me that SteamVR somehow handed the game off to WMR. And then, when I try to play any song, it just blackscreens and never responds again. Custom songs don't load either. Other games work fine, like Hot Dogs, Horseshoes, & Hand Grenades; they don't seem to load up in WMR since they don't exist on that platform. I have tried: Verifying the game files Uninstalling and reinstalling the game I don't even know where to begin to fix this. A friend suggested it might have to do with Windows overriding my AMD graphics drivers, but the support page for fixing that is under maintenance, so I can't follow the steps there. Please help!

Hey guys so around a month and a half ago I upgraded to windows 11 and have had zero problems and actually liked it until now. Earlier this week I received the HP Reverb G2 and was excited to use it until I ran into issues with steam VR. It was crashing at almost every game and the games that loaded had bad performance. This is after me changing some of the settings and runni8ng them on a PC that has an RTX 3070 FE and a 5600x as well as a NVMe SSD and ample cooling. After consulting the HP Reverb G2 subreddit, it sounds like Steam VR isn't compatible with Windows 11 at the moment and my best course of action is to try to go back to Windows 10. I was wondering what the best and easiest way of doing this is without loosing all of my files. I've never done something like this before and I'm terrified that I might loose some of my game progress, recordings, mods, or ending up having to reinstall every game I have on my P.C right now (a lot) all over again. I'd really appreciate any advice or guidance for this cause I really don't want to screw this up and mess up my P.C.

What is this? Never happened before on my rig. It only happened when connecting to G2 (gone after restarting computer). I've been using the PC and playing demanding games without any issues . P.S: SteamVR seems to be crashing a LOT also, especially on Half-Life Alyx. My rig is an i7 9700k and a 3060 ti with 32 gb of ram

At the Build 2017 event today, Microsoft has announced that pre-orders are open for the Windows Mixed Reality development kits from Acer and HP today as well as a bundle kit from Acer that includes motion controllers. From Hot Hardware: http://hothardware.com/news/acer-and-hp-windows-mixed-reality-headset-dev-kits-now-available-for-preorder As far as hardware specs that Microsoft is recommending for developers, they say you should have a hexa-core or greater Intel i7 or AMD Ryzen 7 1700 processor, GTX 1060 or RX480 or greater and at least 16 GB RAM system. In addition to the headsets, Acer is also releasing a bundle that includes Motion Controllers. http://techreport.com/news/31891/windows-mixed-reality-gets-motion-controllers-and-a-399-bundle As far as pricing goes, the Acer headset will run you $299.00 or $399.00 for the bundle with the controllers and the HP headset is priced at: $329.00. It's nice to see that these development kits will appear to be reasonably priced although how well it works without the external cameras or IR emitters may be a factor, especially with the Acer controllers appearing to require some kind of line of sight with their headset.

I feel like this is a problem nobody is getting. Yesterday, everything ran fine. There were no issues at all, and it felt as smooth as a baby's bottom. Today, however, I got job simulator and wanted to play. So I plug in my headset, launch mixed reality portal, and I get into the hub world. Before I could do anything, it crashed. By crash, I don't mean the portal crashed, I mean my entire pc just switched off. I have tried absolutely everything. From putting my computer on wood, because maybe the psu wasn't getting proper air, reinstalling mixed reality, just trying over and over, updating all the drivers I could update, ect... what else is nobody but me is having this issue. Please guys, I beg you. My pc specs are: AMD RX 590 8GB fatboy FX-6300 six core 600W evga psu 8GB ram BIOS version F1 Windows 10 64-bit If anyone needs me to elaborate on anything, please ask. I'm tuckered out.

I have bought two HDMI 3m extensions and 2 USB 3.0 3m extensions just for only one HDMI cable to work. So i need help from someone who knows a 3m USB extension that has been PROVEN to work with the lenovo explorer. My USB cables are up to spec but whenever i plug them in i get a notification saying ''usb device not recognised'' and mixed reality portal gives me error 7-14. I have tried everything i could to get the cable to be recognised so the problem must be the cable itself. So someone who knows a 3m USB cable that works, please show me. Thanks.

I was setting up my WMR and my VGA cable only showed a resolution of 1600x900 while it was setting up. If I tried to get it to 1080p it would say invalid source format or something along those lines. When I was done it went to 1080p as nothing happened. What could have caused this?

I bought a hp mixed reality headset off of ebay in September of 2019. It came with the headset plus motion controllers, I just had to buy a cable (940814-001). This cable is $150 USD (before shipping and taxes, would be around $200 after), for a 3.6 meter HDMI 2.0 and USB 3.0 to their proprietary connector. There are no third party cables. I was able to get it down to be cheap so that I would around $150 total. I then proceed with the purchase only to have the next day it canceled. I get a call saying they reorder it, but for the full price, I tell them I was supposed to get it for a discount. They say they can't verify this and would have to call the original person. After a couple of days I get them to give me the discount and i was able to purchase this. $250 for a VR headset with controllers is not bad. Two weeks ago my audio get messed up. Video and motion still work. I have a warranty on the cable still so I'll send that back and get a replacement. There returns say they don't cover anything other than hp.com, no parts store. Luckily, they accecpt and I send my cable and they send me... the wrong cable. I tell them they sent me the wrong cable. They tell me they only handle RMA request and ill have to ask there parts sales team. So I email them... after awhile of send emails they tell me that they don't have the cable I need, even if on their website it says its in stock. I ask for my original cable back. I get and RMA request, which I hope is my cable. nope. Its the same cable they keep sending me. They offer to me to refund my cable, but not the headset or controllers. I told them I want a full refund for all of this and I'll send it back to them, or I send it all back and they send me a new headset system. They said they can only refund the cable. I get why HP does this, and I don't want to be mad at the people who helped me, they were quick to respond and they probably following protocol. But I can't use this. I only work in the summer. And this summer I can't work for obvious reasons. So it's not even like I can buy a new headset. (I'm removing all names and information but everything is from the email) https://pastebin.com/DRgnC8cr

My WMR headset (Fujitsu) works fine on my laptop (Asus GL502). But it doesn't seem to work on my desktop (8700k, 1080 Ti, 32GB Memory, - Factory Settings) I keep getting this error message: "Something went wrong 2181038087-4" According to https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/mixed-reality/enthusiast-guide/troubleshooting-windows-mixed-reality But none of these suggestions work at all no matter how many times I reset my PC. Would appreciate any help I can get. Thanks!

I am looking to buy a VR headset this black Friday sale. But I am not sure what VR to get. (deals below is the best I can find for Black Friday 2017 when I am writing this post&ever 99 has round up to the nears 100&some of the deals may be offline only) HTC Vive starting @ $600usd (include a $100usd audio strap&$40usd Fallout4 VR) by Office Depot Oculus Rift starting @ $350usd (include 6 games and controllers) by Best Buy Windows Mixed Reality starting @$300usd(Lenovo Explorer Windows Mixed Reality Headset with Motion Controllers) by Microsoft Store ps: you can get the Dell one with +$50 by dell PSVR @ $200usd by target & $300usd (w/ PS Camera & Gran Turismo Sport) by dell & Walmart Now for the real talk, I want to get a PC VR that's meant PSVR is out. I also want to get a cheap one, but I don't want to lose the availability to play Most of the VR games. Vive and Rift have already support most of the games, But Window MR I am not sure what it can do. It said it will support Steam VR, But I am not sure if the games inside Steam VR will or will not support it. Anyone have a VR and know can VR games can cross-platform support or not, and how Windows MR perform?(most reviews say it's great, But I am not sure do it even support most games or it can only act like a premium window and internet browser)

I'm having a weird issue with my samsung odessy+ headset controllers in steam vr games. i have never changed anything since i got this headset and now my controls seem a bit messed up where i cant move with the touch pads or move well with them anymore. My game example is that in Arizona sunshine i need to use the touch pads to sprint and move but the touchpads are just super inconsistent where i might sprint or i would walk at a really slow pace. i have been using the anolog sticks to move in that game instead so its not so bad except that i cant sprint with analog sticks since clicking them just opens up the steam overlay for both analog sticks. in Pavlov Vr i cant sprint at all or even use the tough pads to move even tho the tutorial tells me to so i cant progress in the tutorial. i cant even reload my guns since it uses the touchpads to drop the magazine. Both touch pads don't work in that game for me so it makes it unplayable. i can only go move around in that game using the analog sticks same with Arizona sunshine. Moss is the only game i haven't had any issues in. I have reinstalled wmr for steam and steam vr but the issue persists. if i check the controllers in the steam overlay to test them it shows everything working properly even the touchpads show presses and accurate finger placements. i have checked online to see if this is a issue with people but cant seem to find anything like what im experiencing. I have absolutely no issues playing Moss all controls work the touch pads work and everything.
