I'm trying to install Windows 11 on this unsupported PC using the Rufus method, when booting into it from the UEFI mode it boots showing the windows 11 logo then the top of the screen gets some colored artefacts and then the computer restarts back to the old windows. What should be done in this case? When trying to boot from legacy mode it shows an error stating something about a memory error ramdisk or something and no option works. I reseated the ram and they work well anyways. I swapped the ram slots and the issue persisted. The already installed windows loads and operates normally with no component seeming to cause issues during use. The PC is a Dell Precision T3600 with upgraded compatible RAM and SSD. Thanks

So I ran into a small hiccup while trying to install Windows from my SSD. Managed to boot into the Windows 10 installation setup screen, worked all the way to the stage where I have to select/format partition to install Windows 10. It kept giving me an error which said: "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. the selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, windows can only be installed to GPT disks" I tried to convert the drive (through diskpart) from MBR to GPT and accidentally cleared the entire drive, including the Windows 10 setup (which was on the same drive). I want to know if its possible to: 1. Copy new Windows installation media to the same drive using my Android (not rooted). or 2. Is there a way to download the ISO through cmd. The reason for all this is because I don't have a USB stick with me atm. I can pick one up later but I want to know if this is possible. Also; 3. I'm still on the Windows installation screen even though I cleared the drive and formatted it. 4. I have access to notepad / CMD. 5. Do I have any other options besides these?

Recently purchased a 1TB Samsung 970 Evo plus to use as a boot drive for my existing PC, and tried to install windows onto it. However nothing I've tried has worked. So far I have: Reformatted the the m.2 multiple times (quick and full), including deleting down to un-allocated space Changed BIOS settings, including fast boot (on and off), CSM support enabled/disabled (drive currently only shows if enabled), changing safe boot options Used Q-Flash to update bios, from F10 to F35 (Worked under neither, current number of re-flashes at 2) Tried different versions of installation media via official Microsoft installer and Rufus using different formatting options and the official windows iso Tried reinstalling the Samsung NVME drivers x3 Tried following multiple guides Tried creating a partition on the drive with a copy of the installer (wouldn't detect) The drive does show up in drive manager when booting from my old sata ssd however samsung magician does not detect it. Bios does not detect partitions on the m.2 but does on all other storage. Have verified that current USB windows installer is good by reinstalling it on sata SSD after wipe Hardware MB: Aorus X570 Elite CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X GPU EVGA GTX 970 At this point I'm wondering if maybe it's a hardware fault with the drive itself? Being detected by drive manager makes me doubt this as does lack of errors when reformating it. The other obvious problem would be user error, but for the life of me I can not figure out what I'm doing wrong. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am able to select the drives I have connected and format them, however when I go to install windows after it has done the file copying it then proceeds to restart and boot back to the USB installer. I checked my BIOS and the only bootable drive is the USB.

Tryint to format in NTFS, FAT32 or exFAT doesnt work and simply just doesn't complete. Have i fuc*ed up my USB? now to be clear i did buy a very cheap USB and this might simply be karma biting me in the ass but hopefully its still salvageable.

Hey guys so I have an issue I have been unable to find any solution for: I went from a computer that worked perfectly, to then letting it sit for 2 days, and then when I came back, it began really falling apart. It will blue screen for a number of reasons, and give me differing area codes. For instance, I got (just yesterday while troubleshooting) a PFN_List_Corrupt, Memory Management, and two KERNAL_TRAP error codes. After trying to run CHKDSK, and it still failling, I decided to just remove the SATA drive it is on. This decision to just remove the drive, since there's nothing super important on it, came after trying to work through the boot cycle for about 2 hours. I then downloaded another windows file onto a flash drive, and then downloaded it into my NVME drive; however even after switching between EUFI and Legacy UEFI, it made no difference. I am still unable to select to boot of of my NVME despite the SSD being removed. Here is my build: CPU: i7-8700k Ram: 16 Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX 3600 mhz GPU: 1070Ti Motherboard MSI z370 I assume theres no need for the PSU and Case, etc.

Hi, my brother just bought a new System with an ASUS PRIME H610M-E D4 and an i5-12400F. While trying to install Windows 11 to the newly bought m.2 there was no internet connection. Apparently, the standard network driver that Windows normally would uses didn't work. After offline-installing windows 10, downloading the Intel Network Drivers from the motherboards support page from another PC and "updating" the driver of the not recognizable network interface in device manager with the downloaded driver, Ethernet works again. Unfortunately, as W11 now even requires a network connection when installing W11 Pro, I dont see a solution to install W11 on this PC apart from offline-installing W10 and then upgrading to W11 (maybe an older W11 build might work as well, as the first one didn't require a connection). I know that while selecting the drive to install Windows to, there is an option to load drivers for more complex storage solutions like SANs. Is there a way to install network drivers while installing W11 too?

Hey guys! So I just built my new PC and of course need to get Windows now. I want to boot from a USB drive and was wondering if I can just buy Windows 10 from the Microsoft website and click the "Download" version. Would this basically just install the media creation tool with a key? From there I can just plug in the USB and download it to that and boot my new PC from the USB. If this sounds bad to you, do you have any other recommendations? Thank you for all your help!

Hello all, I am planing on upgrading my Laptop HDD from 500GB to 2TB. If I simply replace my HDD and install Windows 10 off of a USB will I need a Windows 10 Serial Number to do so (I do not have it as my laptop came with windows 10 pro preinstalled)?

Hi folks! I am upgrading my PC in the upcoming few days and I have one small question. I have a good old i5 3570 doing the job for me now but I really want to try the ryzen platform so I have invested in an upgrade. My question is on the software side of the things though. I upgraded to Windows 10 a few months back and since then I have personalised it and my library so much (many programs, games installed on a secondary drive) I became lazy to want to reinstall it. However I have a few concerns about drivers. Is Win 10 smart enough to find the latest drivers if I just boot the system up with the new hardware and the same storage and Windows as before, or should I make a clean install after a platform change?

My office (workplace) have all windows system and almost all the systems are running Windows 10 Pro 1803 and I want to upgrade all of them to 1809 and I do have a bootable pendrive with 1809, now my question is what if I do regular steps of installing windows but by the time the attached window appears I select "upgrade windows" instead of "custom install" is it worth it, if I just want to upgrade from 1803 to 1809 version?? My office internet is just 4 Mbps so cannot imagine updating via Windows update. TIA

Hey, I upgraded my pc with new motherboard, CPU and new OS drive. I am having a issue where I can’t proceed the Windows Installation because of my peripherals not being detected by the Windows Installation. I’ve tried every port on the motherboard plus a usb hub without any luck. I also disabled the USB Legacy Support in the BIOS. Microsoft tech support is closed atm so I am trying here.

Is it save to install windows on a striped volume?

I was setting up my new workstation pc, MoBo: Gigabyte x470 aorus gaming 7 wifi Processor: Ryzen 7 2700x Ram: XPG 16 GB Graphics Card: AMD Firepro W7000 HDD: Toshiba 3TB SSD: Samsung 970 evo 250GB I want to install windows in my SSD and use 3 TB HDD as my secondary drive. But while installation, i couldn't complete partition without 730 GB unallocated. According t some threads in the internet, I used a software to convert drive from MBR to GTP that allowed me to use that 730 GB but it deleted the system reserved 500 MB partition. So when I restart windows wouldn't load. Is there any way to Install windows on my SSD and have 3TB as secondary drive? Thanks in advance.

Hello, so, I've bought a brand new SSD and I've tried to install windows 10 on it with a bootable usb that I've made using the tool downloaded from this link https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 but, no matter what I do the usb drive was not detected. I've set the "usb storange drive" at the top of the list in the "boot sequence" on the bios but neither with the new SSD or the old HDD that I have the bootable usb its not detected. The usb drive its new as well. If you have any idea of what could be happening please let me know, thank you. NOTE: My PC is the Dell Precision m6600 (sorry for the bad english)

I am just sooooo freakin' tired of these BSoDs that my brain has stopped figuring out the real cause of them. Now, it's a pretty erratic system behavior. Here's the current status: I deleted all the 4 ssd partitions incl. recovery, and system reserved MSR (which I normally do while installing a fresh OS copy). Then I just had 3 random BSoDs until now in three tries while the files were getting ready for installation: IRQL-NOT-EQUAL-OR-LESS-THAN, Kmode Failure and Cache Manager. I am installing it from a san disk 3.1 flash drive. Before this, I was running RS4 with all the July updates and driver updates but still I kept on having like 10-20 discrete BSODs/day depending on the pc usage. I tried googling and researching on them despite of having very less time for this bullshit but I literally found nothing that could be useful in this scenario. For eg. they say try sfc /scannow and run windows memory diagnostic, now how can I even perform any of those when ny system can't even boot properly. i don't know if my BIOS is bad or whether the drivers are messing with the BIOS (moreover I don't know how to cure such problems out of the OS environment in the first place cuz the C drive is already formatted and I don't have any recovery images). Now, to be clear, I have always been aware of all the silly things that can trigger these BSODs like missing drivers or anything shit like that and I never O.C. my A10 7890k beyond 4.5 GHz (given that it's factory 4.3 max turbo unlocked) nor do I mess with my 1600 mhz (max freq.) gskill ram because of my mobo (asus a88x-ma/usb3.1) that doesn't allow me to go beyond that. So, I'm just trying over and over again to at least install a fresh, newly updated RS4 OS and then deal with all the possible cures. I am seriously so fucked up with these BSODs that I can't describe my frustration in words! UPDATE: Windows 10 Pro RS4 Build 17134.167 ver.1803 has been successfully installed. My rig: a10 7890k (presently oc'd to 4.5) with stock wraith cooling gskill 128cl1000 8 gb -1600 mhz a88x-ma/usb3.1 mobo Kingston 120 sata ssd msi gaming x 4G 1050ti 580w Deepcool DE-580 PSU WD 2TB GREEN HDD SEAGATE 2TB BUP SLIM PORTABLE STORAGE

I recently got a laptop and it didnt come with an ssd, however i now want to get one. I really just need it for the OS installation of windows 10 so i know i only need around 64gb for some headroom and updates. I had a few questions about upgrading it. 1. Do all laptops have the same size slots for SSD's or do i need to look for a specific size? 2. Is windows easy to transfer onto the ssd from a hard drive 3. What cheap SSD's are good? I dont need anything crazy, just a decent ssd that will launch my programs faster. Also, my laptop is an HP Omen 15

Hello everyone. Yesterday, I bought an SSD and a drive caddy. I plugged SSD to caddy and slided it into my laptop and it works with speeds advertised. So SATA port of DVD didn't caused any bottlenecks. Then I downloaded Windows from their website. Installed Windows on SSD. It doesn't have a seperate Windows Boot Manager. It uses the one in my hard drive. When I try to boot old Windows on my hard drive it works fine. But when I try to boot from SSD it gives some kind of blue screen with this error: 0xc00000e and the description is "\Windows\system32\winload.efi is missing or corrupt". When I look files of SSD I can see that file exists there. Also I read a lot of guides from Internet and they all say you should unplug old drive before installing but my laptop's harddive cant plugged off without tearing it all apart. So I can't do that. Any suggestions are welcome. This is disk management screenshot:
