I'm not sure if I should post this here, but i saw other people post about things here and they have had help so here I am. Recently my pc has started randomly alt tabbing out of games, and i don't know why. Actually it's not the first time it's happened It's happened before and I reset my pc and it fixed it until about a week ago where it started again. I don't know how to resolve this issue and it's quite annoying as you'd imagine. I don't have much running in the background, mainly logitech hub, razer, steam, and nvidia. that's about it. i've downloaded absolutely nothing since the past few weeks and it's started about a week ago so not sure what could have caused it.| I was on windows 10 and I switched to windows 11 as I thought it may fix the issue, no it did not. Any help? Thanks

My windows doesn't detect chrome as an application that can use the microphone, not that it's not allowed, it straight up does not detect chrome. This results in that I can't use Google meet since chrome doesn't detect any microphone inputs and windows don't think chrome needs one. I've tried reinstalling chrome but that didn't do anything, it still refuses to show up under "desktop apps" in the microphone settings. Is there any way to manually add an app to that menue? Can you think of anything else that might help? SNZgE7y_d.webp

Hi folks, I'm new here and registered to see if you will please help me solve an annoying problem. When I change the volume in the systray volume slider it won't make the "ding" sound anymore, so I have no idea how loud it will be. I have attached a screenshot. In the "Volume mixer" the ding sound is present when changing the volume, just not in the modern UI. It is literally the only single sound on my PC that doesn't work. I'm on Windows 10 19608. Oh and obviously I have scoured google and forums and reddit for hours. It's a rare problem but I'm definitely not the only one who's come across it. Haven't found any source/thread with a solution though. What I have troubleshooted so far Rightclick speaker icon -> sounds -> sounds [tab] -> change from windows default to no sounds back to windows default and save in between. Make sure Windows Background.wav is assigned to asterisk. Checked all my mute settings, but this couldn't be it anyway since I still hear all other sounds including system. Uninstalled all Audio devices and reinstalled drivers with no internet connected. Run the Windows 10 audio troubleshooter. Check the registry in: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps -> All sounds configured properly. sfc /scannow Made a new local user account as a test -> BOOM IT WORKS. [ROOT PROBLEM] The windows 10 modern UI volume slider that pops out from the systray does not play the "Asterisk" audio event when moving the slider around. The same event triggers fine in other locations where it should, like the volume mixer. This problem only exists on 1 user account, on other accounts its fine. [ROOT PROBLEM] Simply creating a new user and migrating the current user there is not an option, I tried, the problem migrates along with it quite happily. I don't want to reinstall Windows. Besides if I'd have to make a new account and I can't migrate half of it just doing a reinstall/configure/backup restore will be faster. Probably already faster than this post. But where's the fun in that.

Right so I run a dual boot set up of macOS Sierra and Windows 8.1 using Clover as the bootloader. Specs are as follows: So ever since I created this setup I've always had some minor issues with windows (ironic considering MacOS gave me 0 issues other than no sound at first). I've managed to fix these little things here and there but there's one thing that to this day still annoys the shit out of me. For some reason Windows is ALWAYS an hour behind. I've tried it synced to the internet servers, I've tried to set it manually, I've even tried to manually set it two hours ahead but nope, nothing fixes it. Day light savings time is off and it actually adjusts the time properly (as in it's still exactly an hour late on DST and off DST as I've had this set up for two years now). I checked the BIOS and MacOS and both have the correct time. If someone has any clue what on earth this is I'd appreciate some help. Windows 10 up to date on fixes -Sleep only seems to work if one does not (yet) have a VLC window open playing a video. I understand why at times sleep fails to work but if I push the Sleep button it should work without fail. Suspect other dvd and video players behave the same way. -fails to clean up a process after running some applications. It is reasonable not to clean up after a thread goes south but process clean up should be total and infallible. Periodically the only way to get a properly running system is to reboot. Often this occurs after running some games. In addition on two of my machines even when I shut down VLC the system still will not sleep properly (have not tried it on my other machines but expect they would act the same). Much of the time my video state is bad and the screen behaves badly. I consider these kinds of issues to be fundamental and such things should not occur. Probably other users have similar issues. I for one would rather have the base system rock solid rather than the fluffy updates that come from the Redmondians.

Today i was searching in Facebook marketplace for good deals for my new low bugdet pc I foung a RX550 for 10€, and in the title it said "For parts, broken" And under that he said that he rebooted his PC and after that he just got a black screen. I reached him asking what was the computer doing before (because i read that it might be a AMD driver problem) currently waiting answer. I just wanted to ask what you guys think that it is the problem Will update as soon as i get a answwer Update: He said that the GPU was tested by someone and it has voltage problems. Maybe if i underclock it?
