I've never seen this odd behavior in my life. Please help me. I believe this is related to the core issue of the problem. Let me set the scene: newly built PC, fresh install of Windows 10 with only the necessary drivers for the motherboard installed. I open up Edge to get the installer for the Discord application and go onto Nvidia's website to get the newest drivers for my graphics card. I'm sitting here with fresh Windows 10, nothing installed, just a blank desktop with just two installers, Discord and Nvidia. I click on the Discord installer and it crashes with some Java error. Okay, fine, I think, it's a fresh install of Windows. I restart the computer and try again, but the Discord application installer crashes once more. Odd. I try again and it crashes again. So, I try the Nvidia installer, which loads up to 28 percent and crashes with some 7Zip CRC Error. I think, okay, really fun and great. I decide to look up the error but find nothing very helpful, and I don't follow anyone's advice. I decide in that moment, 'I WILL INSTALL THIS.' For the next 20-30 minutes, I click on the installer and it crashes every time. But, someone one time said something about not giving up, so I just keep clicking. I click one last time, get up, and run around my house like a buffoon. When I come back to my computer later, the install has worked. I'm shocked. I ended up doing a similar thing for Discord, and the application eventually installed. I don't know what the heck is going on with this computer, but I really hope someone has a good reason for why that worked, even though it really didn't. I may have installed the drivers and Nvidia and Discord, and even a game eventually, but the game and Discord crash after opening. Discord opens for 2 minutes, then crashes, same with the game. So, I may have won and installed them, but they don't work. Please help, this is too odd for me. Hi! The system has 4 sticks of RAM , 8gb each, 2666mhz base and 3200mhz when in XMP profile1. The motherboard is a Gigabyte B550M DS3H rev 1.0, and I update the BIOS from f3 to f18 to address recent security issues. After updating, I noticed right way switching to profile 1 would no longer change the speed of the slots to 3200. I searched around and found a possible solution in this reddit thread. They said to reset the bios, turn off, pull the sticks out, and then put the first on the A2 slot, load the bios and then boot to windows, then turn off again put the second stick to the B2 slot, let windows load again. It worked perfectly for the first two sticks, but when I try the third it won't work anymore. Tried many combinations of sticks and slots with same results. Any ideas what I should do to fix it? Thanks

I wanted to do a dual boot set up, so here's a little context. I initially had Windows 10 installed on a m.2 NVMe SSD drive and then installed Windows 11 on a SATA SSD. Ran into an issue with bitlocker so I had to reinstall them both but decided to get a newer NVMe drive for my main. While I was waiting for that to arrive, I installed Windows 11 on my SATA SSD. I installed Windows 10 on my new NVMe drive, and then I ran into some issues, tried re-installing it again and it kept giving me issues. Turned out I had to unplug all my other drives and it finally installed. However, now when I boot normally, I'm taken to a blue Windows OS selection screen. I see three options as you can see in the image attached. Windows 11 works, and Windows 10 On Volume 2. The Windows 10 option without the volume label does not work. I don't know how that appeared, and is there a way to get rid of it? The other question I got here, which I'm not sure if it's related or not is about the boot menu. Maybe my understanding of this is incorrect so I'd appreciate it if someone can explain it to me. It lists two devices, first one is where my windows 11 is installed and the 2nd one is my Linux install. If I select thr first one, that brings up the blue Windows OS choice selection screen. Why is that being shown for that specific ssd? Why is my windows 10 on the nvme not listed? I went into bios and I couldn't find anything that would let me pick my. Nvme as a boot device. I was under the assumption that it would list the drives and then I could pick which OS to boot based on the device selection above. Is the Windows boot manager on that Sata drive because I installed Windows 11 on it first instead of having my windows 10 installed on tue nvme first? Does it even matter or impact anything at this point? Because I can reinstall everything since I don't have much on there anyways if it means doing it the "correct way."

Hi, I've been using a WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3 PCIe card for a few years, but now I got a new motherboard, which has WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 onboard. So I simply removed my old WiFi card. I proceeded to install all the drivers the motherboard prompted me to (including Intel WiFi and Bluetooth), then updated the Bluetooth drivers again using the Windows updater. Now, I can't connect to any devices I have already been paired to and I can't remove those devices from the paired list. (It says an error occured while trying to remove the device or something like that.) When I serch for new devices to pair with, it shows me available devices but I don't own them so I won't try connecting to them. All devices I own are paired already. That is a problem, because it means I can't use any of my Bluetooth devices right now. I'm almost certain this is a driver issue, but I don't really know what to do about it. Can you help me?

Hello, I'm trying to install windows 10 to my old pc, but I'm stuck at the "loading" screen right after choosing whether I want to install windows 64 bit or 32. I tried running Linus Mint from my USB and it worked, but I hadn't tried installing it to the pc itself to see if the same thing happens, but yeah. I updated the bios, took the cmos battery out then back in. I'm quite lost actually. I haven't tried reseating hardware yet, but do let me know if I should do so and any other steps that may be relevant. Advance thanks to any helpers. Specs is i5 7500 gtx 1060 b250 pro4 Using old hdds for this build from 2016 and older, that actually do work and that's all that should matter?

I currently have a homebrew Windows 10 PC running a Zen 3 CPU and an NVIDIA 2080. My current setup works fine, but I'm wondering if I upgraded to the Zen 5 CPU (for the extra processors and the bigger cache), which uses a Radeon graphics subsystem, would that cause problems with the NVIDIA card? Would it be a pain to configure, since I don't need two graphics systems (and I like the NVIDIA card fine)? Should I use a different upgrade path? The mb is an AORUS X570, if that matters.

This is a continuation of the last post, but it has been solved under that branch, no more torrenting but I discovered that my branch that I seldom visit due to my nature of work, has violated the company rule, the PC I set for them, but the senior (earlier) employee requested Microsoft Office to be installed, Even though I ask them if they use Macro or not, and they say no. So I command them to use LibreOffice. However, this so-called "IT" employee got used to being under my dad's leadership, that don't care about security and legality, was accustomed to using crack software. But since I took over, 2 branches are already under my control regarding the tech. Since the senior so-called IT, know each admin password for the computer, he helps them install the cracked Microsoft Office. How do you resolve this?

I am not sure if this is the right subforum to post this, but here we go. I have a potato laptop with a Pentium N3710 processor, 4GB RAM, and Intel HD Graphics 405. It has been 3.5 years since I use it as my daily driver. Even in 2023, I am still not able to use Windows 10 on this, because of a bug from the Intel HD Graphics driver. When I install the driver on Windows 10 (No matter if it’s the OEM-provided one or the latest one downloaded from Intel’s website) and use a program that uses hardware acceleration, the screen blacks out. Especially if you are using Zoom, and someone shares their screen, the black screen will come in most cases. Although it is possible to disable hardware acceleration from the zoom settings, and so for Microsoft Office and Edge/chrome, that is barely a workaround. Even if I don’t use the hardware acceleration in these programs, I absolutely have to use it in the VLC media player, otherwise, the video will stutter for sure. The same problem never happens with Windows 7 or 8.1. A quick Google search shows fixes like using your secondary NVIDIA GPU for hardware acceleration, but I don’t have a secondary GPU. A lot of folks have been able to fix it by using OEM drivers or tweaking random settings from the HD graphics control panel, but I am sure it was kind of a placebo thing for them, and the problem is not actually fixed. The black screen issue does not happen all the time, I used Windows 10 1809 for six months until this issue reappeared, and this issue is more common on newer Windows versions. But the issue eventually does appear. My processor has reached the end of its service lifetime, I cannot really expect a fix from Intel now even though I am facing this issue since 2019 I think, but I do not know if I will ever buy a laptop with Intel integrated graphics anymore. That was a big rant, but does anyone know a solution to this? I have already lost hope regarding this issue and using Windows 8.1, but I would like to get rid of outdated software and upgrade to Windows 10.

I've realised that my USB wifi adapter (TP-link wn722n) is causing issues as it's LED doesn't stop blinking during the shut down process.I decided to disable it, before shutting down or restarting, in the "change adapter options" ( the window which lists all network adapters), the icon will change to disabled but wifi adapter won't be disabled (LED still blinks) and the wifi icon in the lower right corner reports an error (yellow exclamation mark).I can't even eject this device (I can see the device icon in the task bar, but after right clicking on it there isn't "eject" option).Because of this, my PC can't shut down.I've used the same adapter on another PC (windows 7) and it worked without any problems.Driver reinstallation didn't help.Unplugging the adapter doesn't help either. EDIT: this doesn't happen always

Hey LTT, Does someone of you may have a LG Gram 14T990-U.AAS8U1 and hasn't re-installed the operating system? I have this LG Gram model and I re-installed Windows. It was Home but I installed Pro as I needed pro features. What I didn't realize was that LG doesn't offer these drivers on the website nor on their LG Update software and I didn't make a backup. So they are now gone as I wiped the complete SSD. I need drivers for the backlight keyboard and the Goodix fingerprint sensor. Had several calls with LG and several e-mails and for some reason they refuse to send me the drivers... I even advised the person to ask their R&D department. Sadly no luck either. So if anyone of you may have such device around and could share these drivers with me that would be awesome. Regards, Alex

Ok, this started to happened when I installed a new 2tb m.2 but here's the thing, it works. hold my data/ games and it runs them. I can be running heavy games on my computer without a problem for hours, BUT let's say I just leave my computer on just the main wallpaper or ANYTHING ELSE. It will soft lock by losing internet and I can't open app/ files or restart it. I must shut it down by holding the main power button. Sometimes I know when the crash is going to happened. My audio in my headset will start crackling a little or cut off completely. One day I was able to get task manager open before it hit. And it showed that my D and F drives we both at 100% (my D and F are hard drives). But here's the kicker, when I do that test a couple of more time my C or G drive will be at 100% (C and G are m.2s). so I don't know what's going there. Also side note, I some how lost the ability to connect to my 5g wifi. I really don't know if that's a sign for some thing but it's something. Also as of today I checked my bios and it say my 2 8gb ddr5 ram speed has lower it's stock speed, was 6000mhz now it's on 4800mhz. I don't overclock my ram. And let me tell you every thing I have done to try to fix 1. Check/ update driver 2. Done like 20 different commands on command system to check health and errors on the storage 3. Re installed Windows 4. Remove the new m.2 5. Remove one of my ram stick 6. Doing something to the modem and router All of these didn't work I am going to blow my brains out. I need this computer for school surprisingly and I spent to much money for it to give up Please help me, I'm a lost in this soft lock computer hell. Ryzen 5 7600x

I have a few computers that I use for production stuff, audio, video, etc. The one machine is Windows 10 Pro, the other 2 are laptops that are Windows 11 Pro and Home. Where can I get LTS licenses for those machines? Especially the Windows 10 pro machine, upgrading to Windows 11 is COMPLETELY out of the question because of all the licenses for the audio and video software. Also, I REFUSE to upgrade to Windows 11 on my main work machine, it's bad enough that my 2 laptops have it. For the defendant's future, my Windows 10 Pro will have to stay that way and need LTS support. The same goes for my Windows 11 laptops, I will not install whatever next Windows there is because I do not want anything to do with the useless A.I. none-sense they've built into what comes next. Also before anyone says it, no Linux is not an option for me because of the video and audio editing software I use on a daily basis. Thanks in advance!

I've been trying to use my Sony A5100 (ILCE-5100) Camera as a Webcam since it's much better than my cheap 10$ webcam. To use the camera, I must first need to download their app, Imaging Edge Webcam. After I tried to install it, nothing happens. No apps, nothing. Tried reinstalling it and it brought me to a dialogue that says something among the lines of "It's already installed, please uninstall first to install the application again.". I then ventured unto my C: drive, in it there's a Sony folder that has the Imaging Edge Webcam application located. Whenever I try to launch the app, this dialogue shows: Not long after I just decided to put the whole folder in the bin and installed it again since there's no Uninstall.exe in the folders. Still nothing shows up, and the folder is made again in the same directory. Launching the .exe still puts the dialogue above. I am completely lost. I have 0 idea how to fix this, Googling and using the fixes provided does nothing. Is there something wrong with my Windows installation? Or is that completely unrelated? I do remember using a debloat software about a year ago to lighten up Windows' CPU usage, but that's it. I've never encountered this at all before this particular app. Like... never.

Hey guys, i really need some help. Roughly 9 months ago, I build my new pc. Since I build it, I have had random crashes/black screens during games or when in idle, but never during stress test or anything like that. My specs are: AMD Ryzen 5 7600 GIGABYTE Radeon RX 6800 XT GAMING OC 16G ASUS TUF Gaming B650-Plus 2x16 GB G.Skill Ripjaws 5600MHz Noctua NH-D9L NZXT C850 Gold (850W) OS: Windows 10 I have tried the demo of 3dMark, all OCCT benchmarks, cinebench r23, memtest86 and some other benchmarks. My PC never crashed during these. The speeds and temperatures stay at normal levels, even after like 3 hours or more. But most of the time it just randomly crashes in games after like 20-30 minutes. Sometimes it only crashes after like 2 hours or even never . The games which crash it are basically all games that I currently play, so Valorant, Cyberpunk, Fortnite, Forza Horizon 5, GTAV, and some more. I am running stock speeds on both GPU and CPU and over-/underclocking or changing anything hasn't helped ether. I've tried all DOCP profiles and turning it off has also not helped. I am running the newest chipset and gpu driver, as well as the newest BIOS. (I dont really think that matters scince these crashes exist since I build my PC). The Windows Event Viewer also doesn't help. I only get: - Error: Eventlog (ID: 6008) - Critical: Kernel-Power (ID: 41) But these 2 show only after the crash, there is no event before my pc crashes. Currently I really don't know what to do anymore. The crashes are just getting really annoying while im playing with friends and it's also not like the PC was cheap. Thanks for reading all that, I hope someone can help me.

I have a newly built pc with a 7.1 Surround Sound Box for audio. I have 3 amps plugged into it (Front, Side and Rear). I configured the sound in playback device settings, and surround sound worked fine during that. But when I try to use surround sound to watch YouTube, etc., only the speakers connected to the front speakers port does anything. Can’t seem to make it use the other speakers as well. Any ideas?

"System" task is constantly waking up my dgpu. Every 3s it changes from "gpu 0 3d" to "gpu 1 copy" in task manager which ends us in disgusting battery performance. Hw monitor shows that gpu jumps from 1w to 11-16 wats when system does it. I have done reinstalls, power plans, battery checks. I don't believe that laptop with the most efficent power plan with 42kwh battery can discharge in 1,5 hours if im lucky and having max 1 site open when the producer says that it can do 5h of light tasks. Also i can't test what would happen if i killed system because win won't let me do it. ps the intel igpu is not overworked, 20-30% max load Gpu model: 1660ti maxq system: win 10 laptop model; hp pavilion gaming 15 cpu 10300h

Last month battery capacity fell below 10%, it stopped charging. So I ordered a new one and received the battery this week (2021-05-05). After receiving the new battery, I replaced the old battery and plugged the charger. Without waiting for it to fully charge, just to see if the battery was getting detected, I turned on the system. It showed 86% battery available and also indicated that it is charging, so I shut down the system and kept it for charging. After an hour or so I checked to see if the battery indicator turned green, it was still yellow. The surface of the battery was pretty hot at this point. So, I immediately unplugged the charger and took the battery out and allowed it to cool down. After some time, I reinstalled the battery and turned it back on (without connecting the charger). This time it showed 10% battery. I thought it would be due to the battery change, so to allow the battery to fully charge I shut down the system and plugged the charger. Again allowed it to charge, this time I checked the battery temp (by touching the surface) at regular intervals but didn't find any heating issue. After waiting for more than 40 minutes, I turned it on (plugged in state) , but it was still showing 10%. Then I disconnected the charger, to see if the battery was draining or not, after 2 - 3 minutes of usage, the battery charge dropped by 1% (9%). Also I noticed one strange thing, that is the battery indicate icon is not showing any indication of charging. It stayed still and shows battery percent 8% available (plugged in). Its been over two days since I installed this battery, it is still showing 8% available (plugged in) I checked the board to see if there are any issues, didn't find any damage.
