I updated the bios on my Z-170 Deluxe and when I boot the password sign-in screen sticks to my background unless I refresh the screen or select the entire screen with my mouse. I asked someone about this and they said it could be some windows load order issue or something around those lines. I can game just fine and there is no issues outside of this at boot. Boot times are also slightly longer.

I recently encountered that stop code after tried to install Windows Sandbox on Win 10 and now I'm stuck in restart error looping. Tried using common solutions like using sfc or dism but it haven't worked in cmd via advanced start up option, starting in safe mode but still cause same bsod. I have a lot of stuff stored in computer so reinstall Windows is only the last resort. I'm not sure reset Windows and keep files and apps can delete Window Sandbox or not so haven't tried yet.

I've been trying to install UE 5 on my computer but the epic games launcher couldn't download it because the files kept on getting corrupted for some reason. I decided to try restarting my pc to see if that fixed it however it did the exact opposite because now my ssd is showing a blue question mark and is not showing on file explorer and disk management cannot recognize it and added show nonpresent devices on the registry editor and still nothing, I don't think it's even appearing in the bios as it only talk about one sata port being used when I have two. I have other computers that I might be able to use for trouble-shooting but I'm honestly expecting the worst, is there any fixes that I can still try on my computer either software or hardware before I do that? If it helps, the ssd in question is a 2 tb Crucial MX500 2.5" ssd that I got late December last year

Hi, thanks in advanced. From some reason the Fortnite game stopped working. It worked many times before, but it stopped. I did nothing special, maybe it occurred around the time I moved the games from C drive to D drive. It launches but I only see a black screen. I can even hear sound but no picture (a skip bottom on the right bottom corner that leads to nowhere). Therefore, I think it is a GPU issue. I googled endlessly but none of the steps below helped. * I modified the GameUserSettings.ini from the local app data * I deleted the GameUserSettings.ini and let the game recreate it * I updated the firewall * I did a clean installation of the latest NVIDIA driver * I updated all windows update * I checked directX is okay * I uninstalled and reinstalled the game * The anti cheat is installed again (I never mess with it) * I tried computability mode but I'm not sure I did it right. * I tried to launch from Epic and from GeForce exp. * I tried full window, window, 100% scale, 125% scale (I saw this on the internet!). * I tried to reduce the settings in different ways but nothing helped. Any other game works - Subnautica, Rouge, Hogwarts Legacy, Sims4. I even run a GPU benchmark successfully. Even Fortnite itself works on my other weak laptop, just stopped working on my PC. other GPU games work fine. From task manager: * GPU 3D utilization = 1% * Dedicated GPU memory usage = 3.9GB * Shared GPU memory usage = 0.3GB I have RTX 3060 TI founders edition with AMD Ryzen 5 3600X, 16GB ram and windows 10 22H2. help please

I keep receiving an error when I try to use startup repair on my pc. I had cleaned a M.2 SSD Drive that did not have anything of importance on it using Diskpart, then restarted my computer to find that It won't boot into windows anymore and when I try startup repair it would give me the LogFile: Srttrail.txt error. Now it is giving me a LogFile: error with no specified file or file location I am not sure as to how this would happen, but I have had this issue before with the same M.2 SSD, but that was when windows had been installed onto it. I have tried to refresh windows, but that fails when trying both local and cloud installation. I have tried using the windows media tool, but it does not seem to be working either. My goal is to fix this without losing any data. This is all happening on a HP Pavillion desktop with a few parts changed, R5 3500, GTX 1070, 256gb M.2 SSD, 500gb WD Blue HDD, ADATA 500gb SSD, 400w OEM PSU. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated and if any more information might be needed, just let me know.

I have an old laptop Lenovo Ideapad 300 with intel celeron N3060 1.60 GHz CPU with 1 core and 2 threads, 8 GB DDR3 RAM, 250 GB Sata SSD and windows 10 home. My problem is that the cpu is so slow that I can barely play youtube videos at 720p on chrome(with charger plugged in and without any other programe running in the back ground). But I want to play the videos at 1080p. Any recomendations what should i do to make it happen i.e debloat windows 10 or install an other OS such as some version of linux or chromebook OS or change the browser from google chrome to something else? Having said that I am comfortable using windows OS because that is the only OS i have used extensivly. But I am open to try other OS as well.

Hello, Long story short, I have a docx file saved on a computer at work. I have ownership of this file and should have full control of it. I wanted to have 2 more people modifying it so I added 2 more people in security, they only have read, write, execute permissions. Now, I messed up and deleted myself in the list. So now I can not even see it. And the other two’s account can only read write, so I can’t put myself back in from their accounts. No one else has access to it. Is there anyway to restore my permission on the file without bothering admin privileges? thanks!! PS: I can’t reset the parent folder’s permission because that would require admin privileges. I’m trying to take care of it myself.

Mobo : MSI A320M pro-vd/s Cpu. : Ryzen 3 1200 ( stock cooler ) HDD : 1 TB WD 10EADS PSU. : Gigabyte PB500 80+ bronze GPU : zotac GTX 1060 amp gddr5x Ram. : 2× 8gb crucial ddr4 2400mhz Monitor : LG22MP68VQ My windows was running fine till yesterday when I decided to update my windows and I downloaded windows update from.official website and after it rebooted the system wouldn't boot into windows .. I didn't care abt the files and decided to format the drive and install from usb. I did use the official windows and tried to install for 4-5 times n each time it would reboot after 'copying windows files' was done n it wouldn't complete the installation . so I tried with pirated one which completes the installation on all the drives and each time after restarting it states getting devices ready, and then the screen goes off while the system stays running.. after a while I restart the system and it just stays on a black screen with cpu ez debug led ON. At times it says since I restarted the installation crashed. If my bootable usb isnt removed after first restart, it just reboots into the installation again. I asked for help on tomshardware and they said since I pirated windows, they won't help me and closed the thread, so ...please help.

So just to say I am a long time viewer of LTT, but this is my first time in the forum's so if I've missed something or if this is the wrong place I do apologise. So I have a Lenovo y70-70 windows 10 laptop, 16gb ram, core i7, 1tb Samsung Evo SSD (fitted around 1 year ago). So starting around May I got the occasional blue screen, but I didn't think much of it. I was moving and stuff so unusually my laptop was hardly used for a month or so. The blue screens are getting worse though. Sometimes it's multiple per day other times I'll get a week without any. Sometimes it's when I open a program other times its when I wake the laptop from sleep. Here is the list I have recorded over the last month or so: dpc watchdog violation video memory management internal kmode exception not handled system service exception (ntfs.sys) critical process died bad object header bad pool caller kernel security check failure system_thread exception not handled attempted write to read only memory memory management faulty hardware corrupted page Nb. I don't think it's ram, I have two 8gb sticks in the laptop. I took one out, still occasional blue screen. Swapped it with the one still in the laptop and also blue screens. All help and advice is really appreciated. I don't want to replace the laptop if possible as except for this admittedly large problem it's going great.

Pc specs: CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 Mobo: B450 AORUS PRO WIFI RAM: G.Skill trident z RGB 3600 (2x8gb) GPU: Strix vega 64970 evo 250gb PSU: SilverStone ST65F-PB 650W Windows version: 10.0.19042 Build 19042, W10 64 bit BIOS: Lastest BIOS, F60e Issue: whea uncorrectable error on windows 10 From what I can tell, this is a BSOD that is caused because of either Drivers, Hardware or been unable to write/data issues. It happens when I play some games, the main two I play now is Rocket league and CS:GO and it usually happens a lot faster in Rocket league, usually under a minute. When using the computer to just watch youtube/twitch and whatnot it has yet to crash at all. So far to test what could be wrong I have: Re-seated Ram, my m.2 and ram. Ran 2 different ram tests both came back fine. Ran 2 different storage tests, both came back fine. Lowered ram speeds, no overclocking at all on my system. Updated BIOS to latest. Updated all drivers. DDU and reinstalled my audio and gpu drivers, trying multiple GPU drivers. Done a cclean and defragger just in case. I have now gone ahead and tested ram at 2133, 3000, 3600 all of which didn't work. I have now reinstalled windows and everything else and its still happening. I think I may have forgotten some things I have tried but if I remember them I will update my post. At this point I am completely lost and I don’t want to do a fresh install since I have very limited data where I live (or at least until I go to uni but thats still over a month away). I have found to just open the game in the main menu and play music/video on youtube will cause it to BSOD pretty fast, usually under 45 seconds Any help would be amazing, thank you.

Evening all! I was bought a custom built pc a couple months ago by my wife and to begin with it was fabulous. Ran like a dream. However recently its begun to crash at random intervals and it's caused some panic. I'm a complete newb when it comes to fixing this sort of thing so I've turned to the community for aid! My system is as follows; AMD Ryzen 5 3400G APU Gigabyte B450M ATX Motherboard Kolink 600W 80 Plus PSU RTX 2060 (Gigabyte) 16gb Vulcan Z T-Force memory 2 x Seagate HDD (1TB & 2TB) Like I said, worked totally fine up until a few weeks ago but now it has random crashes for seemingly no reason and to top it all off if I dare to have something plugged into the front USB hub (usually a vape mod that's charging) it won't even start up. Lights will come on but the fas will ramp up to a ridiculous level until I unplug it and even then it will get stuck on the Gigabyte logo with options to enter the BIOS etc... So any help with this would be really appreciated, as the alternative is sending it back to the builders and that'll put me out for a week or two... Thanks

MB: ASUS Hero ROG VIII WIFI MB OS: Windows 10 Pro External HD: Seagate Backup+ For years the two USB ports on my external hard drive have worked fine. I did have to update Windows 10 & my chip set recently, hence the tags to them. I plug my USB memory stick into it, fine. I plug my phone or tablet into it, fine. I go to my web camera, or my headset it doesn't work. Ideas?

Working on a customer PC and the Iron Wolf Pro 4TB drive he purchased isn't being detected. I've tried new SATA data and power cables. I tried every SATA port on the ASUS ROG Strix B450-F gaming board. Is there a setting in the BIOS that needs to be changed if you're using NAS drives? I need help! Thanks in advance!

Hello :3. So I have this goergeous 180 hz monitor that displays 180 fps animation on windows 10. But when I extend the desktop to another screen which is a 60hz. Window's animations (and especially [win] + [left/right arrow] animation) are shown at 60 fps even on my 180 hz display. The same thing happens with window dragging. When i drag a window in 180 hz monitor it works fine (the window moves on screen at 180 fps) but when even a tiny bit of the window enters the 60hz monitor display area, the part of the window still in the 180 hz area starts to move at 60 fps. So I wandered if there was a trick to tell window to run everything in 180 fps even in 60 hz monitor cause it's currently killing my eyes. THX!

My onboard network card was working fine over the weekend. Sunday afternoon, it wants to install the latest updates, which included the push for Windows 10 Build 1607. Let it install, then shut down my computer and moved it back home (was at a friends lanning for the weekend). Plug in my machine last night to do some work, and the network card isn't available. Check device manager, and it says it cannot start the device. I've tried uninstalling the Intel Network Connections version 17.3 (which came with the Asus P8Z77-V Pro motherboard) and installing 21.1 which is the most current driers for that Intel NIC, I've tried uninstalling 21.1 and reinstalling the 17.3, I've tried using whatever Windows detects it as.. All of them return an Error Code of 10 - cannot start device. Any suggestions on next steps? I don't have remote access to the workstation at the moment (haven't setup a secondary network connection on it as of yet), so further information or troubleshooting steps will have to wait until tonight, but I would greatly appreciate any advice on what those next steps might be. Thank you in advance for your time!

Hi guys, I wanna share and probably ask any solution to my problem regarding my windows 10. Problem started when my PC start to show BSOD,first it show something about "memory management error" then another BSOD,I don't remember what it said. But the main problem is,when I tried to do something do C drive, then when I reboot or shutdown, the thing that I did was like not being saved by windows. For example, when I download a software,it was stored in downloads folder on C drive. The next thing when i reboot or shutdown,it disappeared. But oddly enough, when I sign out of my account, the settings are normally saved (not reboot/shuting down PC). I kinda edgy about this thing then I quickly want to reinstall windows by USB. But when I tried to,it can't be installed on my C drive and I cannot delete it's partition either. One info said that the disk may fail soon. Is the problem laying on my SSD? Or is it somewhere else? Anyone have something similar? Anyone can help? Thanks before. FYI: I ran a S.M.A.R.T monitor on my SSD and it showing in good health, test it also and it's fine.

Hey guys, I did a clean install of windows 10 on a new ssd with the latest update of windows 10 and latest nvidia gpu driver. Test out the game that I always play and I lose around 30 fps, before I was hovering around 60-80 fps. I switched back to old ssd and fps maintained between 60-80 fps. So right now I'm at dead end, what should I do?

Just built a PC, been about 10 years since I have built one so I don't know if it's something I am doing wrong. But to keep things short. I tested all parts before installing and also boot Linux from ram using a USB and everything works fine. Just after installing windows 10 fresh copy from USB after initial setup ( screen saying "getting everything ready for you") the pc restarts like it should and goes back to the same screen for the rest of initial setup and then locks ups and moves no further.( the little circle comprising of the little circles)-stops moving and doesn't continue on with the boot up. Things I have tried ----------------------------- Disabled fast boot , Cleared CMOS, Checked all connections , Booted with no USB devices connect, Changed boot order multiple times, Reinstalled windows multiple times, And updated bios. Am I missing something here? The hard drive was from another computer with windows on it working before moving it to the new case but different mother board.
