Hi community, i hope you all have a nice holiday. As you know christmas is family IT support time. Because of this i now got an old Fujitsu Lifebook S760. It was replaced by a new notebook and now i can play with the old one. At first i wanted to reinstall the system at time of release (Windows 7 Pro). My goal is to have a working retro pc for some old software. Everything works fine. Except: The device's speakers are not working. I installed every driver from the Fujitsu support page specifically filtered for my device's serial number. The Realtek High Definition Audio Driver also shows up in the installed progams list. For unknown reasons the audio only works when I connect the notebook over HDMI with a monitor with built-in speakers. Then everything is fine. How can i get the internal notebook speakers to work? Specs: Fujitsu Lifebook S760 Windows 7 Professional, 64 Bit Realtek High Definition Audio Driver ALC269, Version 6.0.1.5911 (08/17/2009) (installed and visible in all-programs-list) Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD, Version 8.15.10.2025 (12/18/2009) In the attachments you can find screenshots. Got a handover pc from my brother- I3 530, 2gb ddr3, amd radeon 5450, 1tb hdd, The hdd already had win7 (32bit) installed so i didn't try installing anything else. But he gave it to me disassembled so after i built it, it only got to the win7 logo, after that the screen becomes black and nothing happens, I can run it in safe mode though without any problems also i can connect to the motherboards VGA and run it normally. Only when i use the gpu it doesn't post... tried installing latest drivers but it says 'Detection driver error' while running the amd software... any help will be much appreciated

Hey LTT friends, I cloned PC-A drives which was on Win7 and I want to put these cloned drives on PC-B which is a fresh install. Does PC-B absolutely have to be Win7 to be able to accept the cloned drives or can my PC-B be Win10 and have no issues? I hope I'm making sense... I have a key for win10 so it would be a waste to not use it but before I do anything and possibly lose all my data, I wanted to know if this was possible. Thanks for any help/advice, I greatly appreciate you all and what you do!

I grabbed from work an old Thinkpad T420 computer with win7pro activated, It doesn't have the COA certificate on it I removed the mechanical hard disk and started a clean install with Win10 on a blank SSD I was hoping that the activation would carry over on Microsoft site but it did not work Before I go to extreme measures, is there any way to extract the activation key from the old hdd? If I put back the old mechanical HDD, will the upgrade to windows10 need the COA?

Hi Guys, So I've recently gotten round to building up my new tower and couldn't be happier - Win10 on a WD Black NVMe Drive, i7-9700k @ 4.9GHz, GTX 1060 6Gb etc etc. My problem comes in that I want to have a dual boot option from my old tower so I can access a load of stuff I have on there when I want to. I figured this would be easy. It should be in theory. However, my old rig started life as a HP Enterprise system. It ran what I believe to be a cache raid system whereby it has a tiny 20Gb Intel SSD, as well as the 500Gb spinning disc. The way it was explained to me at the time was that read and write went to the SSD first and then was written to the HDD. This brings me onto the issue. When I plug in my HDD to my new rig and mash F2 to get into the BIOS, the HDD is not there as a boot option! Exiting from that and heading into my Win10 boot, it allows me to see the Win7 drive. I can see the OS files. I can see the public documents (although not the documents of specific users). When I enter the disc management tool in Win10, I can see the partitions of the HDD, including one which shows as OS, however underneath it, it only says "Primary Partition". The "boot, pagefile and crash dump" monikers are missing. When I plug in the old 20Gb SSD, there's nothing on it. It just shows as "Unallocated". It seems to me that my MBR has gone missing somewhere along the line here and since I have no experience of undoing the witchcraft that seems to be cache raid, I'm reaching out for help. Can anyone explain how I can make my old HDD bootable again? Couple more points to note: I've not got an image or backup of the Win7 disc so simply doing a fresh install is not an option. Also, the tipping point for me building a new rig was the power supply failing on the old tower. Since it's HP Enterprise and therefore proprietary (rip off merchants!!!), I cannot even plug the old drives in back the way they were and do anything from the old system. Anyone any ideas? So, I currently have a 1TB HDD and would like to add a 250GB 960 EVO m.2 ssd to my system and use it as a boot drive. However from reading articles online it looks like alot of work re-installing windows 7 onto a m.2 (nvme) drive. Is there anyway I could just migrate the OS to the SSD?

So I have built my very first intel based PC, and my second build in total, but sadly I can't enjoy it right away. In fact, I spent an entire day trying to make it work to begin with. Before I get into the problems, the specs: ASUS Z170 Pro Gaming Aura Intel 6700k (stock) CoolerMaster Hyper T212X ASUS STRIX GTX 1060 6 GB 2x 8 GB Corsair Venegence LPX 3000 MHz DDR4 (XMP profile enabled) Corsair RM750x 80+ Gold PSU Samsung 850 EVO 120 GB SSD (Boot & OS) Crucial MX300 525 GB SSD > CoolerMaster MasterCase 5 Pro upgraded from an old FX 8350 + GTX 780 Ti build. Right off the gate my assumption is the OS I'm running, which is Windows 7. I'm not a big fan of neither 8.1 nor 10, so I tried my luck with my age old USB install of Win7. Putting everything together, the PC would not let me install Win7 on any of the drives, claiming some sort of drivers would be lacking. Installing the SSD's in my old build, however, allowed me to put Win7 on it and then boot from them in the new system. Pre-installed Intel LAN drivers on my SSD so I can download everything else once the drives are back in the new system. It sounds short and simple but me getting to the point of the system reliably booting without system lock ups (and trying to figure out how to install anything without the drivers for the USB controllers working, until I got the idea to pre-install LAN) took me a whole while. I went through multiple re-installs of the OS on both SSD's until it stopped freezing and crashing itself to death. The price for a reliable boot off of my 120 GB SSD was me no longer being able to choose my SSD's for boot priority (simply won't show up in the list) which means every time I turn on the system I have to mash F2, then F8 and then choose my boot OS. But at least it's running and the GeForce Drivers no longer killed the system. The next problem would be strongly fluctuating core frequency. So I have no idea about intel but is it normal for the CPU to fluctuate a ton when going from idle to light tasks? Like I'll be sitting anywhere from below 1000 MHz to about 2400 MHz and it keeps adjusting depending on the load, but it also causes really sudden spikes and hitches when I start heavy loads like starting up a game. I feel like locking the frequency would made far more sense- Is there something wrong with my settings or CPU? Overall I'm getting really weird vodoo type issues on this system which I feel has to do with my outdated operating system and the way the OS handles the hardware in terms of load distribution and stability. On default fan configurations, my system would be dead quiet but whenever I go from low or medium to high load, the CPU would spike to (up to) 77°C for a brief few seconds while my cooler ramps up rapidly. Again, this causes massive hitching and sometimes even freezes up to system lock-ups. Adjusting the fan-curve seemed to help a little bit with that, but the fluctuating core clocks still worry me. Furthermore I (for some reason) can't use Firefox anymore- Apparently my connection is not secure? Never seen that problem before. Chrome works just fine but I do need both browsers to work, and Firefox won't let me access anything. I'm sorry, this post is already way too long, but those are some of the problems I'm dealing with. Am I right in my assumption that a fresh install of Win10 would likely fix all these problems? Or is it something else entirely? I'd like to avoid moving away from Win7 if at all possible. Thanks for taking your time to read through this.

Acer Aspire t 605, EVGA 600 w PSU, Nvidia GTX 1070 I have attemted to install win 7 on my newly built PC, It went thru with the installation until it restarted to complete the setup. After that it told me that win 7 was not compatible with the hardware (which it is) and now it refuses to see any bootable media like usbs / cds. Nothing works anymore and it says : Reboot and select proper boot device ... The best part is, the media it booted before is now rejected. (And I changed the boot order in the bios aswell - Nothing changed; aswell as legacy and secure boot. I also tried a full cmos reset, with no results :C) PLEASE HELP, thanks in advance :3

Sup folks, I've been having this issue for quite awhile now, I still don't know how to fix it. My PC says there are updates that need to be installed, which is true, but when it reboots to install said updates, it's stuck at "preparing Windows configuration", then abruptly shuts off and reboots normally, without installing any updates. The Windows update windows keeps popping up saying that I need to install important updates and that the pc will restart in 15 minutes (which for now I have resorted to opening cmd and stopping Windows Update manually by "net stop wuauserv") Operating system: Windows 7 Service Pack 1 64 bit Hope someone knows how to fix this issue. Hey all~ I've been told that this amazing community is great for helping each other out, sooo~ This is my question to any of yall who can help me out here. Any any one tell me, what I should do upon a clean install of Win 10 - in order to keep CPU utilization down from background, keep my performance up, no bloatware, uninstall preinstalled apps like MS store, etc... Basically put my Windows 10 on a diet, and just have it almost barebones... any and all input would be great!. So far, I've only found Ultimate Windows tweaker.. but i know there's a lot more. I upgraded from a hd6850 and a 500w psu To a gtx 770 and an Evga 600w not bronze just a reg 600w and i am getting random shut downs after minutes of playing games like csgo, and etc. And sometimes it wont let me boot onto the gpu when its a priority display device.

What OS is better for old PCs? win 10 or win 7. will windows 10 run faster than windows 7? TIA

This is the story of how it happened, if you want to get to the problem you can skip ahead to the seperated part. So this morning i decided to take out the second HDD out of my new rig since yesterday i had transfered all the files that i needed from it on the HDD i was gonna be using. The reason being i needed the second one for my bro's PC which is made from the left over parts. Anyway, i turn on the PC: "BootMGR is missing press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart" i restart... same thing... i try to use my Windows 7 disc... it doesn't work... (and just so you know my Windows 7 disc is like super old and im too lazy to download a newer version from microsoft and put it on a USB) after awhile i decide to put back the other HDD back. So here is what happened, when i was installing Windows on the drive i wanna use i had the other drive as the boot one and i had it still even after installing Windows so i was starting my windows through the other Windows (which doesn't work on this PC) and so i have deemed that the Bootmgr does not exist on the current Windows i am using. And so the question is: Is there a way to take the bootmsg to my current Windows or do i have to reinstall?

Hi All, I wanted to know how I can go about setting a static IP address for my PC that I move around a lot. I would like for it to have a static IP address when it is on my home network but use DHCP everywhere else. I am running Windows 7 and am aware of how to set a static IP through the IPv4 settings within my wireless card, just don't know how to do it without screwing up wireless access on other Wi-Fi access points. I also have another computer running win 10 that I would also like to do this on. If you know of any ways I can achieve this on that PC too I would appreciate it. Thanks,

I know that kabylake with Z270 will only work for Windows 10, but has anyone tried to run a skylake + Z270 with Win7? Is Win7 not supported when it detects the cpu, the chipset, or both? I just randomly checked a Asus Z270 motherboard and they have drivers for Windows 7, even 32bit. TLDR: 6700K+Z270, will it support Windows 7?

I installed windows 7 because my oncle is an computer scientist and he give it to me.? As you probably see, my new computer doesn't have USB 2.0 port , only USB 3.0 x3 and a type c connector but they bolth not working in win 7. I used a software which changes the ISO files for integrate usb 3 drivers and it works for the installation, but now I have my computer with win7, 4usb port which doesn't work and no wireless connection ( my wireless card need drivers for function .) Hello, I'm in a need of help here. I use Teamviewer to control my friends computer when it needs things to be worked on and everytime i try controlling his computer it keeps crashing and locking up his pc, but not mine. I had my friend uninstall the program and restart the pc then install the program again. It still does the same thing. As a test i took and win 10 laptop controlled my win 7 desktop and it runs like a charm Why does teamview keeps crashing on the firends computer? When I came downstairs a few minutes later, there was a blue screen of death that I (ignorantly) didn't take a picture of. From what I can recall, no games were running when the crash happened. Tried rebooting, POSTs just fine, but only a black screen after that. No mouse cursor, no blinking underscore cursor...just a black screen. In the UEFI, the recovery disk and my storage drives are recognized. BIOS is up to date 1. Normal Boot: POSTs fine. Then black screen where the "Starting Windows" screen should be. No blinking cursor, no mouse. Keyboard is unresponsive to NumLock and CapsLock. Pressing power button instantly shuts down PC. 2. Booting from a USB Recovery disk with Win7 Pro on it. "Windows is loading files" progress bar fills along the bottom, then the "Starting Windows" screen with the logo appears for 2 seconds before a black screen. No blinking cursor, no mouse cursor, keyboard unresponsive to NumLock/CapsLock. Must press and hold power button to shut down PC. Here's what I've tried so far: - Removed GPU and all other PCI cards. Monitors plugged directly into motherboard using both VGA and DVI to two monitors. Both are showing the same thing. - Checked all my cable connections to make sure things are secure. - Checked all RAM and slots one by one. All are OK, but I'm running 2x4GB right now just in case. Tried 1x4GB stick, no changes when booting. - Unplugged all other storage drives from power and SATA. Only my OS SSD is hooked up right now. - Tried Clear CMOS. Also tried resetting all motherboard options back to defaults. No changes to booting. - Tried an alternate power supply for the computer. A brand new Antec HCG-850M No changes. - Tried Pressing F8 to enter advanced boot options when booting from USB recovery. Booting into Safe Mode enters a loading list of files, then a black screen. No response from numlock/capslock. Power button press and hold to shut down. I've always been able to fix any startup shenanigans with a recovery disk, but this one has me stumped. I can't even get into a command prompt at this point. My guess is as good as any. I'm hoping it's not a fried CPU because that's going to suck for my wallet.

Good day! So I have come to reach out for help on how to fresh install a Win7 from a flash drive. Here's the story: So the new pc have brought to life, I borrowed a CD containing Win7 installer and stuff, and currently I'm copying the contents to my flash drive. Now here's the problem, I'm very new to this topic, hell even my friend tells me what to do but unfortunately, I don't understand shit because I'm anxious at doing this crucial stage. Here's my question, once I've copied everything to the drive, and I chuck the flash drive to the pc. How am I able to install the OS from the flash drive to the pc? Just a heads up, the pc is completely new. It has nothing but BIOS on it. Please help me, it would mean the world to me if I am able to run my new pc. Thank you very much for the help.
