To save everyone time I have summarised the conclusion we came to in the thread. Summary updated 12th January 2024. The AX201 (CNVIO2) can only work with Intel 10th Generation CPUs or newer! The PCIe cards (in title) can work with some CNVIo laptops, it depends if the manufacturer included PCIe support as well in the slot and sadly they won't tell you, its trial and error. PCIe cards or PCIe to M.2 WiFi adapters will work great on desktops, although many with M.2 WiFi sockets can also be swapped out. I did on my ASUS Z370-I Gaming, but the same caveats apply if your existing card is CNVio, although it seems more common for them to support PCIe too than on laptops. The Intel BE200 WiFi 7 card is now out, it should work equally as well except theres a chance it wont be fully WiFi 7 compliant as the standard has not been ratified yet, although Intel seem to think its likely to be fine. As I wont be getting WiFi 7 until its ratified I will still cautiously recommend the Intel AX210 as it supports the full WiFi 6e (which will still work on WiFi 7) and seems to perform slightly better than the AX200 even on plain WiFi 5. Although strangely I've also found the AX200 performs better than the AX210 on WiFi 6, though did not test this on the laptop so it may just be differences in antenna design. Laptop that supports CNVIo2 but strangely seems to work better with a PCIe card: ASUS VivoBook S15 S533EA Laptops that came with CNVio cards but confirmed to be PCIe compatible: ASUS GL703G ASUS ZenBook Pro 15 UX580GE Dell G7 7588 Dell Inspiron 7586 2-in-1 Dell Inspiron 7786 2-in-1 Dell Precision 3530 Lenovo Y540-17IRH-PG0 Lenovo Yoga S740 MSI GE 75 Raider 8SG MSI GS63VR MSI GL65-9SEK (AX200 performed slower than original card but AX210 may fix that) MSI GS65-9SE MSI GL75 9SFK MSI GT72S MSI Modern 14 A10M ThinkPad X1 Extreme gen 1 (no bluetooth support as USB not supported on socket) Laptops confirmed NOT to work: Acer Swift 1 SF114-32 MSI GS75 - but was worked around by using spare NVMe socket intended for SSD. GS75 Stealth 8SF Motherboards confirmed to work with PCIe cards in their WiFi M.2 slot: Gigabyte B360N GSM (with M.2 slot advertised as CNVi 1) Motherboards confirmed NOT to work: MSI B360i The original thread continues below: Has anyone successfully replaced an Intel® Wireless-AC 9560 with an AX201? I tried on my ASUS GL703G and the laptop refuses to power up, or even detect the charger, with the card installed. When I remove it the laptop immediately tries to power up (like it remembered I'd pressed the power button and the blocking factor was suddenly removed). I even tried removing the battery to make sure it hadn't crashed the power management chip or something (kinda should have done that before swapping the cards I guess, but no damage done). ASUS do not blacklist cards, but they also refuse to provide any support for aftermarket upgrades, the usual response of "if it doesn't work, it must not be compatible". The seller I bought the AX201 from is repeating the same thing. I'm almost certain the card MUST be faulty to behave like this, as Intel clearly list the AX201 as the replacement for the AC 9560, both being CRF cards. https://www.intel.co.uk/content/www/uk/en/support/articles/000026155/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking.html It makes no sense a compatible but somehow not supported by the BIOS (why would it even need BIOS support if there is no blacklist?) card would prevent powering up. At worst I'd expect it to not be detected. Such a PITA after my other laptop, also by ASUS, went flawlessly upgrading from the 8265 to an AX200. I just knew CRF/CNVIo was going to be trouble.

Hello, my regular WiFi connection is supposed to be around 500 mb/s. Usually, my computer run it at around 200 mb/s. My antenna is facing right towards the satellite (I have a mesh system). Here's what I've tried: Force link speed to be higher than 100 mb/s. Restart the computer. Remove background apps. Help.

Hello, I've been having internet connectivity issues with my main pc (amd cpu, windows 10) for a while now and I cannot figure out why. Thought it was the WiFi card (Archer TXE72E), but when testing on separate desktop (intel cpu, windows 11) the card performed significantly better than my main. For example, I have a wpa3 WiFi connection that my main pc cannot connect to when using the WiFi card, but my second pc can with 0 issue when using the same WiFi card. Usually when the main pc tries to connect to the wpa3 connection it will either connect and have no access to the internet, or the WiFi on my pc will seemingly restart. I think it is specifically the main pc itself as I bought the Archer TXE72E to replace the previous TP Link WiFi card it was using because I was having the same issues with that one. If anyone has any advice on this that would be appreciated!

Post Body: Description of the Issue: I recently built a new computer and have been facing persistent WiFi connectivity issues. Despite seeing available networks and attempting to connect, I experience no WiFi connectivity. It's worth noting that connecting via my phone's hotspot works perfectly fine. Troubleshooter Details: The troubleshooter occasionally reports being unable to connect and, at other times, mentions issues with reaching the DNS server. No specific error messages are observed during these instances. DNS Settings: I've attempted to resolve the issue by swapping between two Google DNS servers (V4 and V6). While there was a temporary improvement, the issue persisted. System Specifications: Motherboard: B650 AOS Elite AX Processor: AMD Ryzen 800x3D RAM: 16GB G.Skill Trident Z Neo Storage: Samsung 990 Pro 2TB Samsung 980 Pro 2TB (x2) Graphics Card and Drivers: My graphics card is an RTX 4070 Asus TUF Gaming OC 12GB. I've recently updated my graphics card drivers to ensure compatibility and performance. PSU Wattage: I believe my PSU is either 650 or 750 watts. I will confirm the exact wattage later if possible. BIOS Version: My current BIOS version is SM BIOS 3.6, and I updated it recently. Software Running: No additional software is running, except for default installations, which include Microsoft's default security software. Previous Linux Dual Boot: I used to have WiFi working, and I recall successfully setting up WiFi during a dual boot with Linux. However, I have recently fully removed Linux. Video Attachment: Attached below is a video demonstrating the issue and the steps I've taken so far. [VID] If you could help me out, that would be great. Thank you. Also, if you need any other information. Feel free to ask.

Hello LLT community, I'm in need of some guidance regarding a much-needed Wi-Fi upgrade. When Plume was first released, my dad opted for it as the best available option at the time. However, it's become clear that an upgrade is long overdue. Plume is limited to Wi-Fi 5, operates on a subscription service, and is frustratingly slow to boot up. Our internet connection is through Comcast Business, and we're fortunate to have it provided by a FAANG company. We have a medium-sized home with a growing number of devices, and three of us are working from home, making a robust and reliable Wi-Fi network essential. Considering these factors, I've been contemplating upgrading to Wi-Fi 6E. It appears to be a suitable choice for our needs given its enhanced speed, capacity, and ability to accommodate a multitude of devices. However, I'd love to hear from the LLT community for any advice, suggestions, or alternative recommendations you might have. Your experience and insights would be invaluable in helping me make an informed decision. Here are some specific questions I have: Wi-Fi 6E: Is it indeed the right choice for our situation? Router Recommendations: Are there specific Wi-Fi 6E routers or brands that you've had success with? Mesh Networking: Should I consider a mesh system for better coverage in our medium-sized home? Compatibility: Are there any compatibility concerns I should be aware of when upgrading to Wi-Fi 6E? Thank you in advance for your insights and advice. Your assistance will go a long way in helping me choose the right upgrade for our home network. Best regards, carbon

"I am currently experiencing persistent issues with my Netgear R7000 router. To address these problems, I am looking for a new router that falls within a budget of around $250. The ideal router should support a large number of devices, including smart home devices like Amazon's Alexa and smart lights, as well as handle streaming activities seamlessly. My internet connection is provided by Verizon Fios with 1gb speed, and I use the Verizon CR1000A modem. On average, I have anywhere between 20 to 40 devices connected to the network, depending on whether I have guests over or not. My current Netgear R7000 is configured as an access point with Dynamic DNS turned off to allow the modem to assign IP addresses. However, despite trying various settings, the internet keeps cutting out on this router. Interestingly, my desktop, which is directly connected to the Verizon Router/Modem combo, experiences no such issues. Given the common issues associated with the Netgear R7000, I have decided to upgrade to a more suitable router. Any recommendations for a reliable router that meets my requirements would be greatly appreciated."

My computer is losing connection to game severs. it started a week after i got the pc and have bine the same for the last 7 months , every once in a while 1 or 2 an hour the game that I'm playing just disconnects from the sever or freezes for 10 to 15 seconds (players not game) and my discord stops and then restarts. my WIFI doesn't go out and even with ethernet this still happens. I don't think its my motherboards in build Wi-Fi because i have used a external Wi-Fi adapter and it doesn't change. i have bine told it could be my power supply because its not main brand and theres not emough power is going to my parts. it also might be my motherboard. I don't know that much about computers and with the games i like to play like rust where you have to download the sever again and sometimes wait in a queue to get back in. this makes imposable to play it with this happening.

ill cut to the chase suddenly wifi not connecting on my pc its only on my pc for some reason had pci driver issues, fixed them updated windows 11 all pending software updates checked out all reddit forums tried to update my mobo wifi drivers tried changing from 5ghz to 2.4 entering the right password ofc, either stuck on authenticating or connecting or just says cannot connect to this network only works when i use my mobile data as ethernet even mobile hotspot wont connect i have tried troubleshooting by doing "find and fix network issues", no good either when i go to settings>troubleshoot>other options>network and internet, it says the required app not installed on the device (i think its cuz i used a bloatware removing software? idk how to undo that, did it a long time ago and it doesnt say what app to install to run network troubleshooter) why all so suddenly mane edit: going into control panel>network and internet> Network connections>wifi>properties>configure>advanced under the advanced tab there is a property tab which says "802.11a/b/g/ wireless mode" highlighted blue (and many more below this) and to its right is the value select down menu with various options 1. 5GHz 802.11a (doesnt work) 2. 2.4GHz 802.11b (connects but is hella slow and not practical) 3. 2.3GHz 802.11g (works decent and is 1/4 of the speed i guess) 4. 2.4GHz 802.11g/b (same results as above) 5. Dual band 802.11 a/g (stuck on attempting to authenticate) 6. Dual band 802.11a/b/g (this was the default setting and doesnt work either) sorry i dont know much about wifi connectivity issues, i cant seem to make any sense out of this i feel like the only solution is reinstalling windows if its a driver issue? which i believe is not cuz i tried updating and rolling back wifi drivers in device manager and even swapping the selected drivers which were already on my system. any suggestions? wifi adapter: Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6E AX201 160MHz

First time posting to the forum (or any forum in general for that matter so forgive me if I do something incorrect). I have three computers in my house. All three of them are using WiFi 6 through PCIe cards. Two of the computers are side by side and one is in the next room over. Two of the computers are getting speeds I would expect (500-800 Mbps depending on network congestion). However one of the computers is getting anywhere from 8 Mbps to 100 Mbps. I know it is not a signal problem because it is one of the computers that are side by side and the other one gets great speeds. I have swapped the WiFi cards between computers and the problem persists with the same computer. I have mixed and matched antennas. I have made sure they are all using the same drivers. I even checked the network driver on my motherboard for my LAN just to rule everything out. It has to be a problem with the computer itself and not the cards/drivers but I dont know what else to check. I also have tried putting the computer as the highest priority on the router QoS, and have tried resetting network settings in command prompt using the "netsh winsock reset" command.

I just built a pc and I'm using a GIGABYTE B760 Gaming X AX DDR4 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BSB6Z9B7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc= This board says it comes with wifi, but then I look in the wifi section it just shows what is in the attached photo. I don't really know what to do and ethernet isn't really an option. Please don't say anything about Ethernet, I know its better but I can't get it. But do I need drivers? If so this link takes you to my board and its drivers: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/B760-GAMING-X-AX-DDR4-rev-10/support#support-dl-driver-lan But if that is the solution, do I need all 12+ drivers? Or what do I need to make my computer work correctly?

Helo, need some input regarding my wifi issue. I got a confusing problem on my asus rog zephyrus g15 ga502iu running on windows 11 with intel ax200 wlan card. It cannot connect to my tplink ax73 router that is running on channel 40 with 160mhz band. But the weird thing is when the 5ghz band is set to only 20mhz on the properties page of the ax200 it can connect with internet. it also works fine when connected to wifi ac or wifi6 running on 2.4ghz 40mhz I have already tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalled intel latest driver but it doesn't solve it. Also tried to boot windows straight outta the original ssd also cannot connect when it is on 40/80/160mhz band. So i need some input, because i feel like maybe the ax200 card is broken? Or is there other thing that i need to try? edited to add some image

Hello Everyone I'm new to the forum and I've having the hardest time figuring this out. Just bought a EPUP EP-9636FS-Pro "https://www.newegg.com/p/0XM-01CT-00017?Item=9SIAH19DBZ0769" from Newegg.com. I attached a screenshot of my computer specs for ease of typing. I currently use a USB Netgear A6210 with Netgear Drivers and a launcher. The unit in question doesn't seemed damaged at all and I tried reseating it twice now in the PCI x8 slot since my GTX 970 eats up space for install in the PCI x1. Installed recommended drivers from manufacturer and it worked for a split second then stop picking up networks all together. I went to intel downloaded their software that auto updates drivers and it found a newer driver for the ax200. After that it stop working all together. It won't show up under network adapters anymore. I tried disabling and reenabling when it was there but nothing seems to work. Is there a hardware requirement I'm just not meeting? My PSU is 800 Watts Gold. I wanna try and figure out what is going on before I return so I just don't bother with a replacement like Newegg recommends. If nothing works I will just have to wait until Netgear comes out with a PCI or usb card that supports wifi 6. Lastly I forgot to mention my BIOS should be up to date since I installed a new SSD. Scratching my head with this one. The fan works on the unit and the RGB lighting works too.

Hi, I am looking upgrade my wifi system, at the moment I am using the modem that my internet provider (TalkTalk UK) with an Netgear Extender EX2700. I have researched Mesh WiFi and getting a better router that 'takes over' the orginal modems function and come up with lot of option. I personally was looking in £150 range for any improvement but can see a max of £200 depends on spec and future proof. I was suggested website below but its a little steep, https://www.amazon.co.uk/NETGEAR-Nighthawk-wireless-satellite-extender/dp/B01N4F1192/ref=sr_1_9?crid=21Q55MNV8OZP6&dchild=1&keywords=netgear+extender&qid=1613769178&sprefix=netgear+ex%2Caps%2C178&sr=8-9 My Problem: - there are more than 20+ devices on the wifi network including smart tvs, alexas, laptops, etc - signal is weak upstairs - i pay for 70mbs and as my house is an older one and electric not updated, I don't have ethernet port or wire coming upstairs to connect to extender so acts as a repeater - I looked into what frequency my wifi was on and matched with other peoples wifi near me so there is interference there but not really sure how to interpret data tbh and how to chnage what channel my 2.5+5 GHz runs on Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can improve it? Any suggest of alternative or comparison tables that I can view myself?

so for the past year or so I've just been using the router supplies by my ISP, but have more recently been having connection issues and weak signal around the house. I was recommended to set that router and "modem mode" and supply my own router. My only concern is I don't know which router are actually good/worth the price. so any help / recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

My PC: -MSI B460M-A PRO -i3 10100f -2x8gb ram 2133 oc to 2666 (manual oc) -Corsair VS450 450W 80PLUS -XFX RX 580 -TP Link Archer TX3000E WiFi 6 intel ax-200 pci-e x1 card Hello, due to renting a room I'm forced to use a wifi card in my pc. I bought a TP Link Archer TX3000E WiFi 6 intel ax-200 pci-e x1 card and to my suprise it works great ,however I have a really annoying problem with it - sometimes after powering on the pc it's not being recognized by the system. It will work just fine for 2-3 days, then the next time i power on it simply doesn't get recognized, not only in windows but at a hardware level - when i check the board explorer in the bios it shows that the x1 slot is empty. The only solution I've found is to reseat it in the slot - then it works. A simple restart won't do the job. It's really annoying. It happens only when the pc hasn't been powered on for a while, like overnight. I would use the pc just fine, wake up the next day - it doesn't work and i have to re-seat it. It never happens after a quick reboot, the PC has to be turned off for some time in order to not recognize the card. I'm using the latest BIOS with default settings, the latest intel ax200 windows drivers and I'm sure that the card is seated properly. It is most likely not a problem with the card itself - I've had an ASUS card before and refunded it because of the same issue. Please help

Hi Guys, I've been dealing with a weird issue lately, please take a look and let me know of any ideas. I think I'm missing something PC = Speedtest to my ISP is fine. Most local speedtest servers show the expected results, but external servers are much much slower. Example: Miami-hosted speedtest servers are slow(not limited to Miami). Windows update and xbox downloads slow. Steam has a local server and downloads fine. I have also noticed much higher ping to Miami on this PC- 49ms vs 190ms sometimes. This PC is has slower speed, and higher ping overall, being much worst on external servers Linux VM on this PC gets much better speedtest results.. Ping to ISP is fine. Ping to my router is fine Laptop = Speedtest to my ISP is fine. Speedtest to Miami and other external show better speed. No issues on smartphone. Expected results all along Both on WiFI with 85% signal strength approx. Compared Windows wifi settings between both, no major diference. I have troubleshooted DNS, reset NIC, reinstaled drivers, upgraded to Win11. Tried different router. -PC WiFi is definetely able to reach the 350mb expected speed. As I can see it when doing speedtest to my ISP, cant blame them, cant blame the NIC. I'm not sure when the issue started, but I do remember much better ping, speedtests and downloads speeds. X570 pro wifi (using onboard wifi with the antenna thing) - Intel Wifi 6 AX200 160mhz Speedtest to my ISP - PC and Laptop Speedtest to external Linux VM vs PC side to side Results where similar when sharing NIC with host and when on passthrough mode

Hello! Having some issues with my home network performance, I've got 1gbps speeds which I get downstairs close to the router, my main PC is upstairs where I'm only getting 200mbps either on WiFi or using 1.3gbps rates power line adapters, I also bought a fancy nighthawk WiFi mesh system which also basically doesn't work. The electrical cabling is pretty old and the walls are all brick with concrete supports, is there anything I can do apart from running cat5e across the carpet and up the stairs? Thanks guys

Hi Everyone, Currently, I have a 5600x on a Gigabyte X570 Elite Wifi ( which i dont use the wifi module because I have a Wifi 6 router and I bought an aditional Wifi 6 PCIe Card ) I have on the x16 an RTX 3070, on the x4 slot a Wifi 6 Card (the module itself is x1), and on the other 2 x1 slots I have 2 more GPUS for mining using PCIe Risers ( 2070 and 1660 super ). Also, I have an NVME drive attached to the PCIe x4 NVME m2 slot on the motherboard. Everything works fine, all devices are detected and can be used, until I hit the PCIe Wifi card with a huge load ( lets say a speed test ). At that moment, the internet drops drastically, even losing all connection, and the mining cards also lowers their usage. Here is a link to the motherboard specs: X570 AORUS ELITE WIFI (rev. 1.x) Specification | Motherboard - GIGABYTE Global Can someone help me understand what is going on? Do I have too many things attached? I'm lacking PCIe lanes? PD: I tried configuring the Bios to use PCIe Bifurcation to have 2 PCIe x8 ( as Slot 1 and 2 ), but it didn't help.

Hello, I want to get a PCIe Card with at least Wi-Fi 6 for my desktop. I am currently between the following 2 1st https://www.amazon.de/-/en/gp/product/B08P555HVL/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A192LWQ3S1ZXZH&psc=1 2nd https://www.amazon.de/-/en/gp/product/B07YVNM1WX/ref=ox_sc_act_title_5?smid=A3JWKAKR8XB7XF&psc=1 My 3rd option could be the https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GC-WBAX210-rev-10#kf but they do not deliver to my country!!! I would like to have your opinion and potential recommendations!!!. Note: I live in Cyprus so I can order from Amazon Germany or UK most likely with delivery to my address

Hey guys, So I recently switched internet providers and upgraded my WiFi service plan to Frontier’s FibreOptic Gig Service which is supposed to deliver ~940Mbps download and ~880Mbps upload. However when I run speed tests on my phone I’m hitting maybe around a third to half of what I should be expecting. The tech who installed the fibre optics box inside my home told me not to use the provided ISP router because it’ll bottleneck the speeds I’m paying for so I bought a new one but I’m still not seeing the speeds I was hoping to achieve. My new router that I bought a few days ago is the ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AX11000 802.11ax Tri-band Gaming Router cause from what I’ve seen it should be more than sufficient for my needs. Besides the very basics I know pretty much nothing about WiFi or what could be bottlenecking my connection to where I’m not receiving the fastest speeds possible. Please help. Some information I don’t understand but may be useful/significant: - Location is Southern California and we have fibre pretty easily available for the most part in my area. - The tech who installed the frontier box said that my neighborhood has “GPON” and he wished we had “XPON” cause I assume it’s better in some way (idk what it does). - The frontier box that was installed (think it’s called an “ONT”) is connected like this: ONT>Ethernet>Coaxial>Ethernet>Router. Don’t know if this is significant in any way but the signal is going through a lot of different kinds of wires so I figured I’d include it. I did three different speed tests with mixed results on my iPhone 12, all taken back to back within 5 feet of my router. I’ve attached screenshots of the result. None of them is anywhere near where I had hoped they’d be. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!

So I murdered my beloved Asus x99-deluxe by apparently creating a short-circuit and – not specifically due to SARS-CoV-2019 btw. – am pretty much broke. This rearranged Dual CPU motherboard sounds like a fun alternative for me – I mean no WiFi/Bluetooth which sucks and no 2 LAN ports and shitty sound – since it would feel better than having to buy a weaker board than what I had in the beginning, without the coolness factor of an at least "kind-of-upgrade"... Now I have to figure out three things, that I can't find anywhere about this motherboard X99 Dual CPU Motherboard Set LGA 2011-3 CPU DDR4 Motherboard : https://www.ebay.de/itm/324616877087?hash=item4b94ac741f:m:mb3xpPOc73zOHHha2iCFDbg Can it use consumer x99 CPUs (i.e. 2x i7 5820k)? It says x99 but I am sure it's actually a server chipset... Do my 8x HyperX Fury DDR4 sticks work with it? Can I somehow add WiFi/Bluetooth affordably to one of the m.2 slots? Does it really have USB 3.0 pins and USB 2.0 pins as it's stated in it's description? Does it have clean IOMMU groups for VFIO? It is one of the things I needed in my rig because I have a NVDIA gpu I passed through to a Windows VM and I accessed it with looking-glass, which is something I would like to be able to still do... I hope someone can help me with some of those. Cheers from someone who ALWAYS manages to break his own hardware goldsteal
