WCCFTech reporting, so take it with a heap of salt. Interesting positioning AMD is doing if this is true though. Naming scheme for almost all of the chips (1X00) correspond to the Intel Broadwell-E and Kaby Lake SKUs we'd expect them to be competing with (R5 1600X vs i5 7600K, R5 1500 vs i5 7500). Crossing my fingers that goes for price as well...I'd love to see a R7 1800X "Black" edition in the same price neighborhood as a 6800K, though that's probably wishful thinking since they've been putting it up against the 6900K in most tests. There was a leak on the most reliable of all websites, reddit, about Microsoft's upcoming consoles specs and rough performance. The 'news' was quickly deleted from reddit but not before screen shots were taken of the post and later verified by someone who is connected to the projects (though this same person apparently claimed to know about the PS5 so take that as you will). The contact claimed that the hardware specs were 'partially true' but didn't comment further. They did say that ray tracing will be a thing on the consoles, which if true is huge for the technology and could possibly hint that Navi (which is what is rumored to be in the console) could also support ray tracing itself to some extent. I don't know what 'verified' means on that forum so this could all be malarkey. The specs seem fairly reasonable though and not far off of what has been speculated in the past. Supposedly there is going to be a more cut down version that is meant as a streaming box, but that was more questionable as some of its specs were way overkill for a streaming box. CPU isn't surprising and was suggested before that it would be Zen based, I don't know if anyone expected it to be Zen2 as I haven't been following that closely. GPU isn't much of a surprise either as far as I can tell. 16GB of memory is respectable, but how much of that is going to be used for GPU and how much for CPU. I'm assuming that they are sharing. That's very fast storage for a console but might be too small for a lot of larger games. May be able to add external storage as well. I know that most of the people on this forum are PCMR members and don't care about consoles, but if the ray tracing turns out to be true that would be huge in more ways than one. For starters, it would show that AMD is capable of ray tracing to some capacity and that it may be coming with Navi (assuming that is the GPU used here). In addition, as mentioned in the below video, it would also give an incentive for developers to leverage it since they would know that based on how many consoles sold, at least that many users would be able to use it. Rumors of Nvidia's new GPU lineup have been surfacing a lot lately(no surprise to anyone, I'm sure), and this seems no exception. This article comes from wccftech, so take it how you will: Say what you will about these prices, but I personally think $3000 US is pretty high for just 50% more speed than a 1080Ti, which isn't even a $2000 card. Dropping the VRAM on the 2070 and 2060 seems to be an interesting choice, I'm not sure why they would choose to do that though. This is all very interesting. Again, the VRAM dropping by 1GB seems an odd choice for Nvidia. Check inside the spoiler for wccf's chart on memory technology changes: Going by their article, the RTX lineup is designed for ray tracing games, which aren't even a thing yet and likely won't be for another year or two. I don't know how games will change in the next few years, but I think it's safe to assume that ray tracing won't be fully implemented for at least another year. Often when I see a tech new and review post that has information that seems pretty fake I'll see people say "even WCCFTech didn't report it so it has to be fake." Why does everyone seem to think WCCFTech is so bad? They seem to usually be one of the first to spot Zauba listings for GPUs too so they seem OK. Just curious.

Seems like Nvidia wants to beat AMD in releasing the next generation of GPUS. Hopefully this will be an actual GP100 or GP104 card not like at CES where they showed a 900 series MX gpu. Definitely seems like Nvidia is trying to push this out of the door but at least eventually we will see GDDR5X cards later. It also seems that this card is aimed at higher resolutions with that 8GB of memory. So on or about the 27th of May we will see an influx of tech reviews on the GTX 1080. At least there still rocking the DVI port. HOLY $H!T, I know AMD did it first with the nano 'a high end graphics card powerd by a single 8 pin' but still, I hope AMDs Polaris well be about the same efficiency. What has been a nuisance in the past, now is becoming an actual problem. Especially that previously any "day one" performance issues could be usually fixed with an after release patch. Like when AMD featured TressFX in Tomb Raider (2013), that was patched to be handled efficiently on Nvidia cards. Now tables have turned and as CDPR representative stated in the article, in the case of Witcher 3, the usage of basically Nvidia locked features, on both AMD and Nvidia cards with similar results is not possible. A shame really, that we are forced to choose one vendor over the other in order to get "the full experience".

Alright folks preliminary pricing has been leaked by an online retailer from the phillipines. The GTX 970 would cost 19-22K Philippine Pesos which converts roughly to $430-$500 and the GTX 980 would cost 31-34K Php which converts roughly to $700-$770 according to PCHub . However it is unclear at this point if these are simply inflated pre-order prices or even perhaps include a currency conversion mark-up. Perhaps even both, so take them with a grain of salt. A picture of a Zotac GTX 970 also got leaked by the same folks. According to the original article which you can find here link. The the GTX 980 and GTX 970 will retail for $499 and $399 respectively which is noticeably lower than what the retailer has leaked. Official unveil of the upcoming GM204 Maxwell cards is scheduled for September 18th during Nvidia's Game24 event.

I commented about Intel making ECC RAM only available on Server CPUs and Linus Torvalds calling them out on it. This was the response I got (the guy happens to be the most insulting, name-calling, among other things person on there...and that's saying something). I am curious...was I wrong? Am I, a consumer, stupid to want ECC RAM on my Desktop helping to protect the decades on information that resides on my system? I use it in my server for that reason so why not on my desktop?
