So for a while, I was struggling to get my Odyssey G7 to look good with HDR enabled. Games looked extremely desaturated and washed out. Almost a year later I finally discovered what was going on the whole time. Here's an explanation: On SDR, the Odyssey G7 defaults to 50 50 50 for RGB color balance. This is the correct setting and setting to 100 100 100 looks very oversaturated. However, on HDR, you have to set the colors to 100 100 100. When switching back and forth from HDR, the color balance will then automatically adjust to 50 50 50 or 100 100 100 depending what mode you're in. Some games now look mind-blowing (such as Horizon Zero Dawn), while others with mediocre implementation look actually acceptable instead of a gray mess. Not sure if this is fixed on newer monitors or firmware but just thought I'd leave this here in case anyone was struggling like me.

Hi I bought the Dell Alienware AW3423DWF and it is my first real HDR monitor. Before my main monitor was an IPS LCD (Asus VG27AQL1A) with HDAren't (which I obviously didn’t use). So I don’t have much experience with HDR anything. But I saw all the LTT videos praising the new QD-OLED panels and after some research and thinking, I ended up buying the AW3423DWF because that seemed like the best choice (at least for me) and when I got it, it was great. First off the ultravide format was REALLY nice, it took a little getting used to, but it was great and the same with the perfect blacks. But then there was the HDR, I was very confused because when I turned HDR on, it looked terrible, washed out, yellowish with the most bland colors on everything I have ever seen. My old generic IPS LCD monitor looked so much better in comparison, that i just couldn't understand, what was going on, so I searched and looked for wrong settings or anything that I might have done wrong, but I couldn't find anything. I did everything correctly, but it was not in any way like they say in any of the videos. They are always so impressed with how good it looks, how color accurate it is and how bright it gets, and that, the brightness, is a least a little bit noticeable with HDR on, lamps and shiny things does look brighter. So I am now asking here to get some help. I have some examples of the difference in color between HDR and SDR that I have taken with my Samsung Galaxy S21 FE. I tested it in Hitman 3 (Hitman World of Assassination), Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered (PC) and Far Cry 6 and it can be seen below. I also have other games with HDR support that I could test in if needed. The difference is very noticeable, the top and washed out one is with HDR on, and the bottom and vibrant one is with HDR off. The photos might be a little off, but in real life the one with HDR on is very bland, dead and washed out, whereas the one with HDR off has nice and more vibrant colors though nothing crazy (like how the photo might seem). Hitman World of Assassination - Chongqing, game graphics settings are all max Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered (PC) - Rooftop in Chinatown, game graphics settings are all max Far Cry 6 - Montero Farm, game graphics settings are almost max Another thing is that all internet browsing is just terrible with HDR, so I have to turn it on and off, whenever I go in and out of a game, but that’s fine, I mapped a key to turn windows HDR on/off. However even when viewing video in the browser it is still bad both LTT videos on Youtube and Marvel on Disney+. I also have some examples of that again taken with my phone. Disney+ - Avengers Infinity War Youtube - "Elon Musk vs. MrBeast - WAN Show January 5, 2024", max quality My monitor and Windows settings are: “HDR Peak 1000” HDR mode on the monitor, HDR, Auto HDR and HDR Video Streaming is on in windows and I have no color profile. My setup is: RTX 3070 and Ryzen 7 5800X. If more details are needed then just ask and I will provide them.

So here is a fun one I noticed that something looked off on my daily LTT viewings , colors are washed out on Chrome, brave and edge (left) but are fine on Firefox (right) I am on Windows 11 and have a dell s2721dgf with the ICC profile installed, 10bit is on in Nvidia but I have HDR off on the monitor because its only HDR 400 , messing with 8bit/10bit changed nothing. Some Google Foo found stuff about washed out colors and flipping on Force color profile to sRGB/sRGB Linear in chrome/brave to fix this , the only thing that did work was to change the profile to "HDR 10 (HDR when available)" I'm super curious as to why this is happening since HDR isn't even on , If I understand correctly (monitors/color spacing is not my area of expertise) HDR would allow 10 bit color so that might be why but wouldn't SRGB do the same ?

Specs: Graphic card: AMD Radeon (TM) R7 370 Series 4GB OS: Windows 10 64bit Monitor: Acer AL1703 1280x1024 60Hz 8-bit RGB Motherboard: ASRock CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6400 CPU @ 2.70GHz 4 cores Ram: 8 GB ram Basically when I record with ReLive or any other video capturing software the video image looks just awful, washed out colors, grainy/noisy video, not even near to the original. Tried playing with Display color settings in AMD radeon settings, calibrating monitor, changing brightness, contrast etc; even changed the settings in the recording software (OBS), and whilst it raised the quality for a bit, I was still experiencing the "grainy" video image. I've also tried playbacking the video with different players, all gave the same results. The issue also occurs in editing softwares. I have spent atleast half a year to figure out what the issue is, searched up many articles/forums and yet didn't find anything which would resolve my issue, therefore I'll be glad if someone here will resolve my issue. Hey guys, So I've recently bought a new monitor, the ASUS PG258Q and it was the first time I ever plugged the Display Port on my computer, but after changing the colors and gamma to my liking, I rebooted the PC and the colors appeared washed out. So I had to manually change the gamma to fix the colors everytime I turned my PC on. So here's a fix that might help you guys who are suffering of the same problem: 1. First step, press Windows key + R, write "colorcpl" and then press ENTER This Window should open 2. Second step, go to the Advanced Tab and click on Change system defaults... 3. Third step, untick Use Windows display calibration and close the windows afterwards 4. Fourth step, open the Nvidia Control Panel by right clicking on your desktop and selecting Nvidia Control Panel. Go to Change resolution, tick Use Nvidia color settings and select the Output dynamic range: Full, then apply these settings 5. Fifth step, go to Adjust desktop color settings and tick Use NVIDIA settings, proceed to configure the color to your liking, after configuring it apply these settings This seems to have fixed my problems with the colors on every reboot.
