So I personally think wall mounted PCs looks really cool and I've wanted one for a while but it wasn't until now that I realized that they aren't that hard to make. So I'm transferring my current PC to a custom wall mounted case thing. Materials needed: 2ft x 4ft board (will probably be cut) (owned) Black spray paint (owned) Computer parts (owned) Screws (owned) Velcro (for mounting SSD) (owned) Corsair Spec-Alpha (for motherboard tray, front I/O and other case stuff) (owned) Zipties (owned) File (owned) Dremel, wood saw, etc (owned) Bad MS Paint mockup: I'll probably start working on this tonight so watch for updates!

Hi! This is Hollis again, and I am wondering about mini ITX builds. I'm thinking of building an overkill console killer, wall mounted in the Lian li PC 07S (Inspiration from Bitwit), and there just aren't any GOOD gpus that can fit in the case. I heard about vertical pcie slots, maybe someone could link me to that cause then I could use a slim asus card like a 480 strix and have it going vertical and then I could just Tetris the psu and it would be good. Thanks for help!

First up, big fan of LTT and have been lurking on these forums for a while but never posted. Be gentle. I'm looking for some basic concept validation before I get overly invested in what might be a really bad idea. I'll preface this by confessing that I've never built a rig from scratch and pretty much everything I'm suggesting would be the first time for me. That being said, here's my goal. I want to build a custom wall mounted sculpture/case in the shape of a snarling/howling wolf and, where possible, incorporate pc components into the motif. (see this link for sort of what I'm going for) It would be water cooled with a custom hard line loop in an attempt to show rivulets of blood or possibly blue ice. I have a figurative tonne of scrap aluminium that I'd like to use for this project. I'm thinking the pc would be mounted on a wooden back board affixed to the wall with the the aluminium wolf attaching directly to it with sufficient clearance between for the pc components. The specs on the PC itself are debatable but I'll be using my existing 1080ti as the starting point and trying to build the highest quality gaming rig I can with the parts available within my budget at the time. I realise that this sounds like a very ambitious project for a newbie who has no experience with wall mounting, woodworking, metalworking or water cooling but I really want to give it a go. Has anyone tried/succeeded in custom building a wall mounted rig? Are there any pitfalls people can steer me around? What am I not considering? Am I out of my tiny mind for even considering this? I'd appreciate some feedback, preferably constructive stuff but if you just want to laugh at me that's cool too. Thanks in advance.

I recently got two Sapphire HD6970 cards, but they're the blower style cards and they're loud af and they barely fit in my case anyways. I had an ATX motherboard laying around, new in box, because I bought it 3 or so years ago, not realizing my case only fit a micro-ATX. Having recently installed a Linksys WRT56G in the shed to get some internet there, I started planning to move the Folding rig to the shed. There it can be as loud as it has to be without bothering me. Mounting an ATX board to the wall: I used these little hammer-in M3 size nuts to get some mounting points: Mounting the Gigabyte Z77 board on the wall with the i7-3770 and RAM already installed: Using spacers behind the board to get the right distance from the wall, this is the result: Next up is the power supply, it gets a spot right underneath, little protection pads to avoid scratching the cover: Whatever gauge wire I had laying around to strap it in: Screwing some 120mm fans to the wall to get some airflow across the parts: An assortment of SSDs: Hooray, it is alive. Up next is mounting those heavy 6970s Ready for business. Tested and working correctly.

Ok so for about a week now I've had this idea of wall mounting my PC, I know it is not original at all but there is so little information out there so I'm scared to even get started with the simplest thing. PC parts that I'm going to use (my current rig) - Mother Board Asus Maximus VII Hero - GPU GeForce GTX 970 - CPU Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790K CPU @ 4.00GHz, 4001 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s) - RAM Vengeance Pro Series 16GB (2x8GB) (I believe but I'm too lazy to check) - Power Supply Corsair CX750 ATX Power Supply (Again I believe but I'm too lazy to check and I know it is over-done I wanted to be ready for any upgrades) - CPU Cooler Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO (Once again I believe that is it something very similar though if it's not the 212 EVO) Questions (Please be specific with your answers) 1. Can the parts be directly mounted onto a piece of wood? Or do I need plexiglass or something similar? - I would rather not spend the extra money and time customizing a mount 2. Do I need to get a PCI-e x16 extension cable? Or can the GPU be directly connected to the motherboard with no risk of falling? - If I need the cable what is the best one to get to many bad reviews on everyone I have checked out saying bad quality control? 3. What I/O power switch should I get? 4. Will my CPU cooler be safe from falling? 5. Should I get a few fans or not? - I do some 3d rendering (and if you don't know when you do a render it kills your CPU since its all done on your CPU except for tiny stuff on your GPU) Any other advice anybody has would be greatly appreciated

Hey guys, A few weeks ago I started work on my first ever pc mod for a spring break project and it's finally done. This was done on a tight budget and old parts laying around so don't be to impressed with the specs okay. Let's start with the specs. LMAO as you can see these are just spare parts lying around because my smol little 15 year old self couldn't spend a lot. The project begins with mounting my lga1155 motherboard to the 1/8 in Baltic Birch plywood left over from making a few longboards (Seen in later pictures, bottom 2). I originally started by screwing motherboard standoffs into the wood but I decided to go with something more secure so later I used m3 screws with plastic 3d printed spacers in between. The bleed edge celeron in all of its glory lmao I began to plan everything out with pencil as well as start making holes for the cables. The holes were eventually cleaned up with a file. Test boot with my other computer because my power supply hadn't come in the mail yet. This was right after I had gotten my GTX 560 off of craigslist for $50. Bask in the 2011 era graphics card and all its glory. I eventually began mounting everything else to the piece of wood including the graphics card separated from the motherboard. Getting the nut screwed in was very difficult. I cut off the extra wood with a table saw and also cut the trim for the edges of the board. I took everything off and began my first coat of pure white paint. I later applied a second. I chose this paint to match the trim of my bedroom. I began painting the trim pieces orange. The 2 extra cheap $5 sketchy PCI-E riser cables came in the mail. I took off the tape and carefully inspected the sloppy solders. One of the risers was fine but I noticed a small imperfection on the other one while looking through a magnifier glass. The 2 solder points were barely connected and I proceeded to force them apart with a razor blade. After testing both the risers worked which was great because I didn't want to buy the $100 3M ones. I smothered the solders with hot glue for strength and then covered that in electrical tape. I began taping off the board for painting. It was very tedious work. The painting was ruff and took a long time but I finished the design and it made a very good "10 ft mod". Never the less I'm still very happy with the painting because I had little to no painting skills. I added the trim that keeps the board of the wall and hides the wires with glue and assembled the entire thing and it was done. I added picture frame wire hangers to the back and mounted it to my wall. The power button was added later to the top left. I'm veryyyyyy happy with how this build turned out. It was my first ever mod and I made on a very tight budget. I plan to upgrade the processor later but for now it sorta works okay. Thankfully this isn't my main rig. My main has a gtx 970 and an overclocked FX 8350 and a Samsung 850 EVO all in a NZXT S340. This was just a fun spring break project that I finished a few weeks after spring break. Spring break was gross and rainy. I don't have the cable management situated yet either for any of the i/o. I actually made this entire build log on this PC.

Hello there! I am planning on constructing a wall mounted gaming pc and all the planning is going just fine except for the cooling bit. As it's hanging on the wall freely out in the air I don't know how much of it I need and not even if the situation boosts the cooling or makes it worse. I'm planning on water cooling the cpu with a Corsair Hydro H110, but am uncertain about the GPU. Will the amount of fans (two in my case as I'm using a GTX 770) be enough or do I have to water cool that aswell? If that is the case I would instead need a fully custom (and much more expensive) water loop, which really isn't preferable. If you have any thought on the topic then please respond
