  1. @alex73630 posted this on discord, and I thought I would Share it with the forums. https://spectrum.ieee.org/tech-talk/consumer-electronics/audiovideo/haptx-inc-reveals-new-haptic-glove-for-virtual-reality https://www.engadget.com/2017/11/20/haptx-gloves-vr/#/ Haptx (formerly AxonVR) has finally publicly showed their haptic VR gloves, which are looking much better then their CES variant. As they say in the ieee article This is a big deal for immersion in VR, and is going to be very useful going forward. I am very excited about this as a VR developer, and can't wait to try them. The one thing I can am worried about is the time it will take for this to get into consumer hands. As I have worked on tech product launch timelines before, I can say that it will take no less than a year to get the cost of the (current) device down to under 2000 dollars, and will more then likely be delayed multiple times due to production issues, and changes in final design. I am guessing the current prototype cost is above 10000 dollars per unit. Though as long as they keep it platform agnostic (vive will be old school by the time it gets to consumer cost) it should work well as a developer and consumer device in the future. Part of the reason I am guessing the cost is so hi is because of the cost of micro-fluidics and micro air engineering is very hi. What do you guys think.
  2. Is a Q6600 VR Ready?

It's a quad core with decent clock speeds. I just don't know about single threaded performance and whatnot. Would this preform good with VR?
  3. I’m looking for a new motherboard. The advent of VR has left me very low in the supply of USB3 ports, and my current mobo has no expansion slots. I want your opinion, which motherboard do you think I should buy? The motherboard must have room for the following: - Intel Core i7 - 6700 3.4GHz 6th Gen Processor- 24GB DDR4 - 2133Mhz Memory(2x8 and 2x4)- 2 Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 4GB Video Card- 1TB 7200 RPM Hard Drive - 1 PCI Express USB 3.0 Expansion card. I also heavily prefer a low price to RGB.
  4. Saw that this hasent be posted to the forums yet. https://www.theverge.com/2017/11/3/16602674/logitech-bridge-sdk-htc-vive-tracker-keyboard https://www.engadget.com/2017/11/03/logitech-and-htc-vive-bring-keyboards-into-vr/ and here is the vive blog post https://blog.vive.com/us/2017/11/02/introducing-the-logitech-bridge-sdk/ HTC and Logitech have partnered to make a keyboard that you can use in VR. I predicted that they would make this about a year ago, and am actually surprised how long it took. I do VR game dev and there are definitely times that having a keyboard would be great. I am actually sad that they are using the vive puck instead of building it into the keyboard itself (which you can do). 100 dollars for the vive tracker plus however much the keyboard costs (bundle is estimated to be $150 ). Current use case that I would love having this keyboard for. 3D modeling (macros) in VR coding in VR web browsing in VR writing in VR searching through files in VR I hope logitech is already working on one with the trackers built in (it would probably lower the price in the long run). Also you wouldn't need to charge two items (tracker, and keyboard). To the LTT forum members, would you use this. If so what for, if not why not. also @LinusTech Ask logitech if you can test one out.
  5. Hey all, I've been in the mind set of getting a VR headset for awhile now(newb at it as well)... and with black friday at our doorstep... Wanted to see others opinions on how well VR games would run on this gaming laptop. Was planning on getting the Oculus rift as newegg has a sale on them soon for $350. Laptop: GTX 1070 i7 7700hq 16gb DDR4 500gb 960 evo Was planning on getting Fallout 4 VR when it releases on the 12th. But overall how does this laptop pair up with the VR world of games? Thanks!
  6. I saw that one gtx 1050 ti can run oculus at the lowest settings, but can 2 run htc vive or oculus at high setting?
  7. So i had this pc for a year now and I was originally gonna sell it after some time right, and get a custom build desktop. so at best buy this retailed around 1.7k but with taxes 2k$ so im thinking selling it for 1.6k or 1.5 to get some really good hardware for my desktop build. so any recommendations I can do to sell this for a good price without losing.
  8. So, first off hello i guess, By now im supyer exausted so im gonna try to keep things short for now. To begin, these Problems now exist for a few months. About in June/July I first had very weird tracking issues with my Vive. Later that month the base stations started turning off randomly during VR sessions und in about September Steam VR just stopped detecting my Headset AND the base stations. I tried a lot of things to "re-vive" my VIVE (get it?) pretty much except for formatting windows. Nothing worked so I decided to let the VIVE rest for a bit, maybe it'll fix itself over time, or so I thought. Today I wanted to fire it back up and it worked, for about 5 seconds, before the red LED of death turned back on and Steam VR wasnt shwoing any icons anymore, jut as last time. I spent the alst 5 hours searching the internet for solutions and NOTHING worked. I kinda dont wany to format my PC cause I have about 3.5 TB of Steam games installed on it and only a 50k connection so that would take a few weeks, but if it is the last option I'd do it. By now im really debating to RMA that thing and maybe get a new one. At this point im still barely in the warranty (I bought the thing on black friday last year (Nov 25th) so I have 6 days and counting before I may have 800€ of dead plastic in my room. So here's my cry for help, please!! :=) Basic Specs if you need: i7 6800k Rmapage V Edition 10 2x GTX 1080Ti 32GB Corsair Vengance Thanks, Nick
  9. Please help me confirm if this part list would be good for me. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/kVzg2R Thanks in advance. hjdaboss123
  10. Buy Acer Windows Mixed Reality Headset Amazon: http://geni.us/iJ1E6 Newegg: http://geni.us/qrT7 Windows Mixed Reality platform is here and we got our hands on an Acer headset..but can it compete with the Rift and Vive?
  11. I've been following LTT since the early days. All of my setups were built with knowledge learned from Linus's videos. So here's my build, finally finished. Also added RGB Hue Lighting to my whole room. Oh man.. I'm getting poor because of LTT Your freaking RGB Virus infected me, haha. But I love it tho.. :> https://imgur.com/gallery/YFpSM Follow the imgur link to see more pictures :-) https://imgur.com/gallery/YFpSM
  12. Valve claims that only 9.4% of current gaming rigs are ready for VR... but as that number is based on the results of the Steam Hardware Survey, we don't think that it paints an accurate picture of the proportion of gaming PCs that are ready for VR that people actually intend to use for VR gaming. So, being a part of this awesome forum community full of enthusiasts, we decided to see if we could paint a more accurate picture of the current state of the "VR for PC" market. If you plan on using your gaming PC for VR, please take part in this test. Run the SteamVR Performance Test that Valve currently has available (through steam, you can find it at this link), and once you have your results, please do the following: 1. Comment below listing the following specs of your PC: Rig name Cpu Gpu Ram Score 2. Add a screenshot of your SteamVR Performance Test results. 3. Answer the poll question in this thread. And that is all we need! Thanks so much for taking part in this fun little survey - let's see how many of you are truly ready for VR gaming! If you thought this was cool and want to take part in another fun survey that we have here on the forum, check out @Jumper118's Cinebench R15 thread here.
  13. I own an Oculus Rift and recently realized its potential in simulations so I started looking into different control methods for war thunder but I'm not sure what to get. obviously I want this to be immersive and was wondering about any suggestions ~$100-$150 (like a flight stick or yolk). also I'm not sure what is used more in the game, flight sticks or yolks.

  15. I am looking to buy a VR headset this black Friday sale. But I am not sure what VR to get. (deals below is the best I can find for Black Friday 2017 when I am writing this post&ever 99 has round up to the nears 100&some of the deals may be offline only) HTC Vive starting @ $600usd (include a $100usd audio strap&$40usd Fallout4 VR) by Office Depot Oculus Rift starting @ $350usd (include 6 games and controllers) by Best Buy Windows Mixed Reality starting @$300usd(Lenovo Explorer Windows Mixed Reality Headset with Motion Controllers) by Microsoft Store ps: you can get the Dell one with +$50 by dell PSVR @ $200usd by target & $300usd (w/ PS Camera & Gran Turismo Sport) by dell & Walmart Now for the real talk, I want to get a PC VR that's meant PSVR is out. I also want to get a cheap one, but I don't want to lose the availability to play Most of the VR games. Vive and Rift have already support most of the games, But Window MR I am not sure what it can do. It said it will support Steam VR, But I am not sure if the games inside Steam VR will or will not support it. Anyone have a VR and know can VR games can cross-platform support or not, and how Windows MR perform?(most reviews say it's great, But I am not sure do it even support most games or it can only act like a premium window and internet browser)
  16. So I have a (Amazon) Asus GL502VS-DB71 and I am getting a vive. I wanted to make a VR backpack because the cables that are tethered to you are limiting. I have this backpack Amazon. I would think that it would fit my laptop. I need help selecting a battery pack that would power the vive and if it can power my laptop. I think the vive's base stations connect wirelessly through the vive's headset usb. Please help!
  17. So many people are saying how only 10% of computers can run the vive. So who here really owns a vr ready computer? Please no VR hate comments.
  18. I would be making a pc for oculus rift and light games, would this work? -cpu r5 1600 -gpu gtx 1060 6gb -mb asus prime b350 plus -ram 16gb gskill ripjawsV -case bitfenix nova -sshd firecuda 1tb

  20. What's the point of a good gaming monitor if you are going to play with VR?? Why do some VR devices cost 10$ whilst others cost 400$ What exactly is the difference? 21. Pimax Kickstarter: http://geni.us/8nwp1fB Wait... you can get an 8K VR HEADSET!? Well... sorta...
  22. Ryzen 5 1500x Gtx 980ti vr build

Hi, I'm planning on building a system for my htc vive that i'll be getting. The specs are a Ryzen 5 1500x, gtx 980ti, a decent am4 motherboard, a hyper 212 evo, 16gb of ddr4 2133 (probably fury x) and a 600-750 watt psu. I can get the gpu and hopefully the cpu used and the total cost should be around 950 cad. Is that a decent price and is this enough power for most vr games? And will there be a bottleneck of some sort! -Thanks in advance.
  23. EDIT: Long story short, this post isn't really relevant anymore. The orignal project I was panning here has evolved into this: IDK, here was my original planned build because why not... Base Parts List: $300 - Intel i7-7700K -- http://amazon.com/dp/B01MXSI216 $60 - ASRock H110M-ITX/AC -- http://amazon.com/dp/B01AVPBOFI $125 - G.SKILL TridentZ RGB 16GB (Because why not?) $50 - Logitech G410 Atlas RGB Keyboard (Tenkeyless, to match the "compact" theme of the build!) $40 - RGB 120mm Fans, 3 Pack (These sure are cheap. Too cheap?) -- http://amazon.com/dp/B0748C844 $650 - GTX 1080 Ti Founders Edition Used
  24. Introducing the B-Tech Arctic computer case! At only 5.2 liters of internal volume, it's one of the smallest ITX cases with full-length GPU support on the market! (That's right, smaller than the RVZ03 or even the Sentry case!) The Arctic case achieves a stunningly accurate "console aesthetic" look thanks to it's glossy plastic exterior construction, ample vent holes, and clean, screw-free external design, including on the back and bottom! But just because your computer looks like a console doesn't mean it should perform like one! That's why Arctic supports full-length GPUs and comes standard with built-in liquid cooling! It even includes a built-in 1500W DC power supply (2x compact 750W AC bricks), with future battery-pack expansion planned! But it doesn't end there. The Artic isn't called "Arctic" for nothing. It's got built-in sub-zero cooling capable of handling over 550W of total system heat dissipation! That means your system could be cooled down to 0° C FREEZING even at LOAD! And if you don't want the extra power consumption and noise, you can simply swap the Arctic A/C Block in the loop out for the regular Radiator Block, thanks to our custom designed quick-swap fittings that allow detaching parts of the cooling loop without draining! Sign up for the mailing list here! For progress updates and to be notified when our Kickstarter Campaign goes live! But of course, you need photos! Here are some 3D renders. These are NOT proof of concept renders. They are taken using the real model, not a striped-down version missing internal structure or interconnects. The Arctic Case in Glacier White. The top intake is a custom designed ~100mm RGB 4-pin fan. The final design will also have a backlit logo on top. The case can be opened quickly and easily thanks to the innovative magnetic-latch system, which sends power and data for the LED illumination through magnetized contacts, making the case side-panels totally wire-free. Arctic Case in Cobalt Black: From the side, you can see the 360° addressable RGB LED ring. A non-slip rubber pad with an intricate pattern lines the bottom of the case to give it a two-tone look. From the front you can see 3 of the 8 individually controllable 4-pin exhaust fans. A/C units connected to the watercooling loop with a custom copper heatsink block are positioned behind these to achieve CPU/GPU temps BELOW ambient! And did I mention there's a flipping TURBO BUTTON!? You'll also notice there's no power button. That's because it's capacitive! To turn the system on, simply tap the left-front area of the case. Of course, you're probably also wondering how on earth we're controlling 10 independent 4-pin fans (including the pump) and over 70 zones of RGB lighting... Well, existing 4-pin fan splitters are not able to control fan speed independently or even report individual fan speed, leaving you with no way to ensure your fans/pumps are still working properly, not to mention they're way to big to fit in a case this small, so we decided to come up with our own solution. Introducing the Arctic Control Board! Able to control 12 independent 4, or even 3-pin fans with per-fan auto-config and per-fan RPM control. Plus, it has RGB lighting control, capacitive touch circuitry, A/C cooling control, case-open detect, and even front-panel IO! Front IO: 1x USB 2.0, 2x USB 3.0 2x Reassignable HD Audio Jacks RGB Illuminated Capacitive Power Button w/ Adjustable Sensitivity User-Configurable Turbo Button (Mechanical MX Blue-like Switch, because why not) What's Included with the Case: The case. Obviously. Custom 1500W PSU (98.5% DC-side efficiency, not cheap!) w/ Dual (also custom) 750W AC Power Bricks. Pre-assembled copper CPU & GPU water loop. Universal CPU waterblock. Dual thermoelectric A/C radiator units. 8x 60mm side fans, 1x slim ~100mm RGB intake fan. 64 pixel 360° addressable LED ring. Dual-channel smart RGB controller & 12-channel 3/4-pin PWM driver with per-fan RPM feedback. And, if you don't want to build a system yourself, pre-built configurations featuring delided 7th-gen Intel i7 CPUs, ASRock Z270 Motherboards, NVMe SSD Storage, and watercooled NVIDIA 1060, 1070 Ti, or 1080 Ti GPUs will also be available, starting at only $920! We already designed and tested PCBs, prototyped proof-of-concepts, and part-fit tested with cardboard, foamboard, etc. But we're not there yet! Here's what still needs to happen: Plastic case prototype, More part-fit testing. Refining pressure-fit and screw hole sizes based on material properties. Kickstarter video! Building an epic system in the thing! Once we've done all that, we can launch the campaign to gather funds for entering production! Current estimated launch date: Mid-February, 2018. Sign up for the mailing list here! For progress updates and to be notified when our Kickstarter Campaign goes live! B-Tech Arctic. Compact Liquid-Cooling for the Masses!
  25. Surprise this wasn't posted yet (unless we searched wrong). For those with deep pocket...
