Hi, I require motherboard for my vostro 3500 with i5-1135G7, but i couldn't find a reliable store or listing, i looked at AliExpress but there are so many listings that i get confused which one should i look into, If anybody can help me with finding the correct product, ill buy it as get my laptop's board replaced. Story goes as follows, that i bought vostro but after a few months it stopped working with black screen, i sent it to the shop i bought it from they took 3 months shipped it to Dubai or US i don't know, they charged me for shipping then when i get my laptop back it was working fine, then after a few months again it went dead, at that time i took it to a repair man as i remember the warranty was over i think, but any one i took it to wasn't able to fix it, and now i am with a dead laptop which i bought with my savings hoping that a brand new one will last me longer but as it turns out everything happened opposite . It's been some time it's still dead as no one can fix it, and i can't get a hold of a new motherboard for it. In all this process one ram got bad and i think my power supply has also gone bad, after so many trips to the repairing people. Service Tag: 6HX6LB3 Thanks, In advance for helping me out.

Specs: Vostro 3910 I5-12400 8GB 512GB 300W PSU W10P 21H1 I'm trying to install a RTX a2000 which has a max power draw of 70w, but when ever I install the card and install drivers the machine will just shut down, upon rebooting it will shutdown again and basically becomes unusable. So I uninstalled the drivers and put in a 1050ti that has a max power draw of 75w, installed drivers ext, ran a 3D mark no problems at all so I don't suspect it to be a power issue. What over issues could be causing the RTX a2000 to be so unstable and unusable?

(TLDR warning) Hi, I'm looking for a daily use lightweight medium performance laptop with the following min specs: - Quadcore - ~4GHz (Boost) 16GB (or 8 + empty slot) 512GB PCIe ( extra slot would be nice NVMe or SATA) No preference on graphics My priorities are lightweight (below 1.5kg or 3.3lbs) followed by durability or overall quality(not just build quality), and I shortlisted the following laptops: - 1. Acer Swift 3 or Lenovo Ideapad 5 (running Ryzen 5 4500U) 2. Dell Vostro (running i5-1035G1) TL;DR In the long run would it be better to go with a Ryzen 5 4500U laptop (with average quality) or an i5-1035G1 laptop (with relatively good quality) ? In real life performance, will there be a noticeable difference between the Ryzen and Intel CPU's ?

So I have this Dell Vostro 3669 from 2017-ish, that I was planning to upgrade hardware wise and I was wondering if the upgrades that I'm about to do are still worth it or even plausible in 2020. So my plan is to add a Palit GTX 1050 ti that I found second hand for around PHP 3,800 (roughly $75 USD), I also considered a RX 570 and the GTX 1060 but they are too steep for my budget at around PHP 6000 to PHP 12,500 ($120 to $247) and I was also considering to replace the CPU from a i3-7100 to a i5-7400 which I dunno if the difference between the two (If you know the difference let me know and also If you guys have a better suggestion please leave it in the comments). Thanks My use for this PC is for gaming on light e sports titles (CS:GO, LoL, Tekken 7) I don't mind graphics that much since I set cs-go to 1024x768 and I also wanted to use this PC for some light editing (if it's even possible) FULL SPECS: i3-7100 8GB 2400mhz DDR4 ram (Dual-Channel 4x2) Seagate 1TB HDD Stock Dell PSU

so i wanted to have a external battery for my laptop the charger for my dell vostro 5568 provides 19.5V to the laptop i took a dewalt 18v drill battery and connected it (i know the 18650 lithium cells makes the fully charged battery go to 21.25V but i read somewhere that electronics could operate in between 10% so im thinking that is fine) but there was a 3rd wire in the laptop cable. i measured it and it was 3.4V DC and also 3.4V AC for some reason i took and connected one of the cells of the dewalt battery and it gave it 4.25V that is a litte high which comes to my problem when i plug in the dewalt battery it says plugged in not charging (in windows)

Hey all, I've currently hit a bit of a roadblock attempting to upgrade a Dell Vostro 270s. As of current it has a 3rd generation i3 installed, but I'd ideally prefer to upgrade to a 3rd gen i7 if possible. Regularly supported, the Dell website says that it supports up to 3rd gen i5s. I've seen a few articles about people being able to update the bios to A11 or something newer and being able to fully support i7s. It's a B75 Express chipset, so no reason it shouldn't support it, I just would like to know for sure before hitting the purchase button. I'll have to update the bios etc., assuming it'll work, but the A11 bios support i7s on other boards. Looking at the current config, with a BIOS update, I can't think of any reason in which upgrading to the i7 3770 wouldn't work. Has anybody has success with this? Any recommendations? I'm hoping this should work, could make for a very cheap gaming PC once upgraded. I got the system for free with 8gb of ram, and have an RX 580 on hand. As long as I can upgrade to the 3770, should be a great rig. This is the current config: Intel Core i3 (3rd Gen) 3220 / 3.3 GHz Number of Cores Dual-Core Chipset Type Intel B75 Express Processor Main Features Hyper-Threading Technology, Intel Smart Cache Processor Socket LGA1155 Socket

I am currently looking for a laptop mainly for school but also so video editing and play apex legends, borderlands on the weekends. However I have a concern when it comes to temps and build quality especially since I live in Jamaica so it is hard to get repairs done locally and my Max budget is 1100. I had an Asus vivibook n580vd but the hinge completely snapped on me and my warranty finished so I am looking at a new laptop. Currently in terms of specs and price the Asus is looking the most appealing to me but I feel if I could find another i5 and 1050ti xps on sell outlet I would take but there are none at the moment. Asus: ASUS VivoBook K570UD 15.6" Laptop, Intel Core i7-8550U, GeForce GTX 1050 4GB, 16GB DDR4, FHD Display, 256GB SSD + 1TB HDD, Fingerprint Sensor, Backlit keyboard, K570UD-ES76 Casual Gaming Laptop https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07B2DTYFX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_yDgBDbMF6RTMX Dell: https://www.dell.com/en-us/work/shop/dell-laptops-and-notebooks/vostro-15-7000-small-business-laptop/spd/vostro-15-7590-laptop XPS: sold out yesterday , gotta cross my finger and hope I get lucky

I have a Dell Vostro 200S, it is a PC without doing any modification like changing CPU, adding GPU, or adding more RAM. This PC had a bloated capacitor on board when I discovered it in my friend's hostel, so I asked my friend to solder a same model of capacitor from another broken AMD motherboard which had been struck by lightning. Yes, it does boot, but you might need a bit of luck to get it booted. First time I let the power on for like nearly half an hour until the power button turns blue, and if I plugged in the front USB panel's pin, the light will become orange. Sometimes it can boot instantly after being switched on, but sometimes not. So the only solution is to keep the power on even not in use to avoid the hassle of luck. When it can be booted, I tried to flash the BIOS once again using the file supplied from official website, but seems no luck. Format to another OS seems doesn't work too. I saw that it has a clock warning, but I don't think the battery is the cause of RNG booting. I'm going to sell this PC because I want to upgrade my main PC to 4th Gen i5 instead of keep using Q9500 which is getting hotter and hotter during idling, but I want to gain as much value as possible, by at least making it work. Can somebody help me to figure out the problem? Specs: Intel Pentium E2200 2GB DDR2 (1GB x2) WD Caviar Blue 80GB 7200RPM HDD Intel G33 Express (Manufactured by Foxconn) What's causing Yellow button: Slot in an R7 240 GPU Connect front USB What's the last success boot situation: Connected it to extension which directly connected to wall plug Boot without VGA plugged in Boot without Keyboard plugged in Boot without any USB plugged in Wait for at least 15 minutes to let the power button turns blue Doing nothing, left everything plugged (Happens randomly)

Comparing old Dell hardware for optimal setup.
SWATermelon posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
I recently received a couple unwanted, old desktops: 2 Dell Optiplex 745's and a Dell Vistro 220. I have decided I want to use some or all of their parts to make something better. I do not know which one has the better cpu, motherboard, etc. If I could please get a couple opinions of which component is best of the options, I would be very grateful. Some additional details: the optiplexes have different service tags: 35hhpc1 and 4nfd2d1. Does this mean they have different configurations, or is it just weird for no reason? -
The Mighty Radeon-Powered Dell Powered by a low-power Radeon and a cheap LGA 771 Xeon Aim: To build a computer capable of running GTA 5 and other demanding games for a low price. Do you prefer watching videos? Watch my video about this system here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2JtjN2MEd8 Original Specs: Intel Pentium E6500 @2.93GHz NVidia GeForce GT 310 No RAM No HDD New Parts list: Dell Vostro 230 The backbone of this build. I got this machine for free, with a Pentium E6500, no RAM, an NVidia GeForce GT 310 and no hard drive. The Vostro 230 with its compact chassis is powered by the G41 chipset, and features Gigabit Ethernet, 6 USB 2.0 ports, 5.1 Surround audio, a DVD drive and a SD-Card reader. You can pick these up for about 60-100 USD used, although the price heavily depends on the condition and the specs of the system. Intel Xeon E5420 The minimum CPU for GTA 5 is the Core 2 Quad Q6600. Our E5420 is one generation newer, and 100MHz faster, so it should have no problems playing the game. The CPUs 80W TDP should be no problem to cool for the stock 95W cooler. This CPU has been sitting on my desk for way to long, so it was about time for it to be installed in a system. You can get LGA 771 CPUs like this for around 25 USD. 8GB DDR3 1333MHz Although the minimum requirement for most games these days is 4GB or less, having 8GB is a nice luxury, especially if you want to have more than two tabs open in Google Chrome. 8GB was what I had in my RAM bag, and it happens to be the maximum amount of ram supported by the Vostro 230. You can get used OEM ram like this for around 20-30 USD. Gigabyte AMD Radeon HD 7750 2GB DDR3 I picked up this GPU at the local hardware store. The Radeon HD 7750 is based off a cut down version of the Cape Verde core. Unlike the fully unlocked Radeon R7 250X with its 640 shaders, the Radeon HD 7750 has 512 shaders, so we can expect performance not to be too far behind the Radeon R7 250X. In addition, the Radeon HD 7750 draws all of its power from the PCIE slot, allowing us to use the stock PSU that came with the Vostro to save some money. I payed 600kr (approx. 70 USD) for this card new, but you could probably get a better deal on the used market. WD Blue 1TB This drive is nothing special, but it does its job of being the main storage device in this machine well, and I already had this drive lying around. Drives like this go for around 20-30 USD used. Total price (estimate): System: 60 USD CPU: 25 USD RAM: 25 USD GPU: 70 USD HDD: 20 USD Total: 200 USD I only purchased the GPU for this build, the other components were components I either got for free or already owned. Build: The build process was fairy straight forward, with the only major hiccup being the enormous amount of dust in the system, but after some dusting this was a non-issue and the building process could continue. LGA 771: If you want to know more about the LGA771 mod, see this brilliant post by @harrynowl: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/365998-mod-lga771-to-lga775-cpu-modification-tutorial/ For BIOS modifications, I have made a guide for the Vostro 220. Do NOT use a 220 BIOS in a 230, but the basic steps remain the same for both models. https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/555957-guide-lga-771-mod-for-dell-vostro-220/ Overclocking: The Radeon had no problems with overclocking the core. The cooler was more than adequate, with temperatures never exceeding 55c during my testing, while staying very quiet. I was able to overclock the Radeon HD 7750s core to 950MHz with the power limit on +20 for good measure using MSI Afterburner but the memory on the other hand did not want to be overclocked at all. Hey everyone, So a couple of months ago I broke the screen on my dell Vostro 3450, after removing the screen I tried powering on the motherboard and ended up shorting the motherboard. I took it all apart and kept the processor and the ram. A week ago I bought a new motherboard and screen of off eBay, when I put it all back together it will boot into the bios but as soon as I try boot into an OS the laptop freezes. I tried using different boot devices and that didn't help, I replaced the ram, without any luck. More recently, it won't even power on, however when I plug in the power chord the battery charges. What do you guys think is the problem and Id love to hear how you would fix it. P.S I'm considering buying a new processor Thanks in advance for the help.

Hello and welcome to my guide for performing the LGA 771 mod on your Dell Vostro 220(s) tower. In this guide I will explain the process of preforming the LGA 771 mod on the Dell Vostro 220, specifically focusing on the process of modding a bios and flashing a modded bios. Disclaimer: I am not responsible for any damage to you/your equipment, proceed at your own risk. Tested Systems: Dell Vostro 220 with G45M03 motherboard revision A00 and A03. Note: I have only tested this mod on the Vostro 220, not on the 220s, if you have a 220s and you successfully followed my guide; please let me know so I can add the 220s here EDIT 29/05/17: Confirmed in the 220s (board rev. A00) working by @xpentor STEP ONE: Follow this great guide by @harrynowl to prepare your socket and CPU for the LGA 771 mod. This is 100% necessary to get your CPU to physically fit in the LGA 775 socket, come back when you are ready! If you have completed the guide successfully your CPU and your CPU socket should look like this: NOTE: You might want to edit and flash your bios with your old CPU if windows will not boot with your new LGA 771 CPU (as it did for me). STEP TWO: Download and extract the following files, we will need them later. STEP THREE: To know which microcode to update, you have to know your CPUID. To find your CPUID you can go to http://www.cpu-world.com/ and search your CPU model number (e.g. E5420) in the top right corner. When you have found the page for your CPU (e.g. E5420), scroll down to "CPUIDs" under "Architecture / Microarchitecture". Select the correct CPUID by identifying the S-Spec number of your CPU, the S-Spec Number can be found written on the IHS (integrated hat spreader) of your CPU. For my CPU, a Xeon E5420 S-Spec SLBBL, the CPUID is 1067A. STEP FOUR: Open MMTOOL and load your BIOS rom file. Go to the CPU PATCH tab and Browse for your microcode patch file. The microcodes can be found the desktop-LGA-771-775-microcode.zip file you have downloaded earlier. You want to insert both of the microcode files that begin with your CPUID. For my E5420 with the 1067A CPUID, I want to insert CPU0001067a_plat00000011_ver00000a0b_date20100928.bin and CPU0001067a_plat00000044_ver00000a0b_date20100928.bin. NOTE: You have to add platform type 4, 40 or 44 (plat000000XX) microcodes for your lga 771 xeon to work, these are the only microcode that are for lga 771 xeons. STEP FIVE: We now have to flash the modded bios using AFUWIN. Open the 32bit or 64bit version of AFUWIN depending on your OS configuration. Open your modded BIOS file, and under the "Setup" tab, "Block Options", select "Program All Blocks". Then click "Flash". Now, shut down your computer. When you have shut down your computer, you want to clear the CMOS. NOTE: Clearing the CMOS will reset all bios settings including the time and date. From the Dell Vostro 420/220/220s Manual: When you have reset the CMOS, you want to enter the BIOS and load deafault settings. STEP SIX (optional): While I did not have to do this for my E5420 in my 220, @xpentor reported that disabling SpeedStep was necessary for the mod to work with a E5450 installed in his 220s. STEP SEVEN: Make sure you have competed all steps 1-5 and that your LGA 771 CPU is properly installed. Your new LGA 771 Xeon CPU should now work flawlessly in your Dell Vostro 220(s) tower. If you have any comments or questions please reply below and I will try to respond as quickly as I can

I was looking at upgrading my dell Vostro 220s ram, and I found these two 4 GB ddr2 dimms on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-SAMSUNG-8GB-2x4GB-PC2-6400-DDR2-800-240pin-DIMM-Desktop-Memory-For-AMD-CPU-/361185336397?hash=item541852dc4d:g:B7YAAOSw3ydVrhsr The ad states that these dimms only works on AMD systems, but the Vostro 220 is an Intel system. Although this thread says that the 1.3.0 bios (latest) of the Vostro 220 will support up to 8gb of ram: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/301783-30-dell-vostro-slim-220s-ddr2 The dell/foxconn motheboard only has 2 ram slots, thats why i need to use high density 4gb dimms. Will 8 GB of ram work in my Vostro 220? Current system specs: Dell Vostro 220 case Dell Vostro 220 motherboard (Foxconn G45M03) G45 Chipset 2 x 2 GB ddr2 800mhz Xeon E5420 (LGA 775 to 771 mod) Radeon 5750 60 GB SSD Corsair CX500M Please do not suggest upgrading the motherboard, the case doesn’t have a removable rear io shield

Well I got some new headphones(HD 598) and my computer can't drive them well (I can hear sound but its pretty bad quality. I was just wondering what will be the best sound card I could get for my system because my computer is pretty old and there are probably some hardware limitations. I was also thinking of improving my cpu and getting some gpus. PC Specs: Dell Vostro 220 CPU: Intel E2200 (2 cores, 2.2Ghz) Motherboard: G45M03 Ram: 4 GB (2GB inItial but upgraded to 4 GB) Power supply: 300 watts No graphics card No sound card Thanks for all the replies!

Lately I’ve been having some issues with the PCIE connectivity on my Dell Vostro 220 that I use as a HTPC. The GPU was running at PCIE 2x instead of 16x. I decided to try to rebuild the system, and when doing so, I realized the motherboard was severely bent around the CPU socket. I was able to straighten the bend up, and the GPU ran well at PCIE 16x and the machine seemed well... Until now. Now I’m getting the same problem as before, and I’m thinking something is damaged around the CPU socket, which is preventing the full 16x bandwidth. My suspicion is on the motherboard as I’ve tested different CPUs (a Celeron 440) and CPUs (a Radeon 2400xt), with no luck. Current system specs: Dell Vostro 220 case Dell Vostro 220 motherboard (Foxconn G45M03) G45 Chipset 2 x 2 GB ddr2 800MHz Xeon E5420 4 cores @ 2.5GHz (LGA 775 to 771 mod) Radeon HD 5750 60 GB Kingston SSDNow Corsair CX500M I’m currently considering getting a new motherboard, more precisely this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-G45M03-JJW8N-Vostro-220-220s-LGA775-Motherboard-No-BP-/371511503882?hash=item567fcfac0a:g:bJgAAOSwd0BV4Gwu#shpCntId Any tips on how to fix this problem without getting a new motherboard? PS: The case does not have a removable rear io shield, so getting a different motherboard won’t work

I have a Dell Vostro 200 Slim Tower, and I was looking to see what would be the most powerful graphics card I could put in it. I believe the computer has a 250 watt power supply if that helps. The motherboard is a model G33M02. The current graphics card is a 128 MB ATI Radeon X1300.

So, this is the year when i finally upgrade my netbook and get a laptop and i don't want one that will last me for 6 months, i want one that can last for the longest time as possible. That is why i have been doing my research and saw that buisness laptops are the most reliable ones and most upgradable aswell and offering more features in a less atractive but more functional design. My family has had bad experiences with both HP and Samsung support and laptops in my country and great support with Dell and Lenovo, so i will try to avoid the first 2. I am going to be upgrading it to 8gb of ram and a 256 gb SSD so the base specs appart from the cpu/gpu don't really matter. The use i will give it is going to university, web browsing, watching videos and playing at most minecraft, so if it does that it is fine for me. That is why i want something relatively light and with good battery life. Here are my options in an relativly organized way. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzlSiBk6puy3QUZURGZNWXhaNDQ/view Right now i like them all, the problem is i don't know what to choose, the i3-5010u, i5-4210u+GT740m or i5-4300m... The i3 has the power efficency, the i5+gt740m has more graphics horse power and the i5 has a lot more cpu power. Any experiences with Dell's latitude/vostro or the Thinkpad line?

My Dell Vostro 2420,One of three identical laptops, gets stuck at the dell logo and stays there. If I press and hold any key,the blue bar fills up and the OS usually boots.(I can't access advanced boot or boot options, hardware test (thorough mode) passed).I only recently upgraded from windows 8 to 8.1update and the OS worked...I gave it to a friend...and a week later,I got it back,But now...the OS doesn't boot, After getting past the dell logo in the aforementioned way,I only get a ocassional flashing Connectivity symbol on the left corner and the mouse pointer which disappears and reappears when moved.I am in need of urgent help..

Lenovo Thinkpad L440 vs Dell Vostro 5470 vs something good that you guys might suggest i am considering these two laptops for my gf for uni which she will be attending from home it has to have a reliable reputation such as lenovo thinkpad has even thou it is an entry level L (dont really know vostro line from dell) performance wise really doesnt matter but at least it shoud holdup for 5 years and she isnt much of a gamer (not at all really ) so graphics performance is irrelevant and she has my old gaming pc at home she will be mostly using it for web and writing essays - which doesnt sound intensive but once she is going something like 15 chrome tabs and 3 pdfs and 3 word documents are normal specs should be something like this, but i am open to suggestions with good reasoning dvd drive is not needed at all size should be between 13,3 and 14 inch should be light since she has to carry it in bag for whole day sometimes great battery life is essential for sometimes she has lessons from 10 am to 3 pm screen resolution is just a bonus for price has a higher priority for cpu i am considering i3 or i5 if it is in a price range - dont know about lower grade and if ti will be powerfull enough price is best around 600€ with 700€ being too much my location is Slovakia, Europe and it is from www.alzashop.com hence i came up with these two laptops and i am struggling which one to choose so i am asking you guys for advice and is there big performance difference with low voltage mobile cpus vs normal mobile cpus ?? Lenovo Thinkpad L440 + removable battery + trackpoint (red dot) + vga + display port + 4 usb ports + 2 memory slots - 1366*768 - 2,2kg Dell Vostro 5470 + i5 + gt 740m + 1,6kg + thinner - 1366*768 - 1 memory slot (need to change and not only add) - only hdmi - non removable battery - low volage cpu thanks for your answers
