  1. System Info and PBO Overclocking Video+Reddit Post are listed and linked, respectfully, below. So I like to use CPUID HWMonitor while I play games to see how my system is running. Watch the GPU and CPU boost because I have them overclocked and watch temps and the like. I recently updated my bios on my board to version 4501 and I properly set up PBO by tuning the PPT EDC TDC limits according to the video I watched. I started playing games and while watching the CPU Voltages I noticed that anytime a core had a load over 5% the voltage would jump to 1.4 and all the way up to 1.5. I'm concerned that my CPU is frying itself to death. There was a Reddit Post that I found where someone was asking the same question and the response was that it was normal for it to boost up to 1.45 but then go down but mine is, like I said, anytime the CPU has a load on the load. This can't be okay! Right? Or am I just unware that this is totally normal and not gonna kill my processor? System: r7 5800x; ASUS Crosshair viii Hero wifi; Corsair Elite Capellix 360 PBO Overclocking Video: Reddit Post: Reddit Post:
  2. Hi everyone, I'm not a native English speaker so I'm sorry if I make some grammar mistakes while writing this post. So I have a dell inspiron gaming model 15 7000, this baby has seen better days but unfortunately, during the last year, I've noticed some lag spikes while gaming low demanding titles, such as LoL and Valorant. I didn't make any changes to my system cause it didn't affect too much of my gaming experience. But during the last 3 months, the lag spikes went from 150fps to 1-10fps. I used CPUID HWMonitor to track my CPU and GPU performance and I ended up with these results:
  3. So I have my 8700k at 4.8ghz on 1.320 voltage. It works fine but I’m wondering if i should reduce it to something lower then that number.
  4. Hi all, I'm a bit stuck with my oc on the 10700k. First off all i just want to find out what my cpu is capable of, I will not run it 24/7 on max oc. Currently the max is: 5.1GHZ all core Ring: 47 1.33V LLC4 --> vcore around 1.337 according to HWInfo64 SA:1.2V(havent tweaked) IO:1.2V(havent tweaked) I trie 5.2 GHZ at 1.35V but no luck there. Setup: MSI Godlike z490 (good vrams, so no issue there) 32 GB 4*8GB 3200mhz cl16 2080 super Custom loop SOOOOO question: Any tips for me? How much further can I go with voltage? Any bois settings? (vram frequency ect) or have I just reached the limit of this cpu Thanks guys
  5. Hello, thanks for reading! I have a 10900K with a Z490 MSI Tomahawk, all I have done in BIOS is selected Game Boost, which offsets the turbo by +1, resulting in all core at 5GHz I have left voltage at auto, according to HWInfo max VCore did reach 1.40V, but only for a few seconds. At idle its around 1v. I understand that auto mode do often 'overvolt' the CPU but I don't want to do a manual 'overclock'. So, is leaving voltage at auto dangerous, surely the motherboard manufacturers wouldn't allow auto mode to go over the safe limits?
  6. I was wondering if this is normal behavior, because I've heard that any voltage above 1.4 volts isn't to be considered safe and should be cause of concern on the long term. Whether this is true or not is not entirely clear to me. My 5900X stays at an unconfortable 1.5 V almost ALL the time while casually working, like Visual Studio Code, Excel, Teams and browsing the web and when idling (under load it goes down to 1.35 V) temps get really weird, over 75°C with an Arctic Liquid Freezer II 280. I'm just wondering if this is normal behavior intended by AMD. This issue is driving me crazy, and when I run some Java-based program that hits the CPU (notably Minecraft Java edition) temps immediately get out of control and voltages are all over the place. Could this be a BIOS problem? I'm using a B550-A Pro by MSI by the way.
  7. Hi,are the VCCIO and system agent high for an intel 10400f?and the others? ,motherboard is an asus prime z490-a and 2x16gb corsair vengeance pro, i just activate the xmp1 for 3200mhz in the bios(the recomended one according to asus) and left everything on auto this is with 2min of aida64 stress cpu, fpu, cache and system memory temps seems really high, maybe the test is a bit agressive for the stock cooler or something is wrong?room temp is 31°c.
  8. I've been poking around at the PSU tier list and noticed that the B tier requirement is that the PSU must have full VAC input range. Why is it? Is it so that it could work in any country without using an adapter or anything like that? I live in 230V only country, so I should be okay to use 230V only PSU, right, or is it? Thanks.
  9. I've tried to Google what exactly VDDP voltage is, and I don't really understand it from the descriptions. Can someone help me understand what this voltage is? And more importantly, why is mine 0.0V?
  10. Hey guys, after I finished buliding my gaming desk - if anybody is interested: - I decided to upgrade my hardware. I got an intel core i7 6700k with the Asus Maximus VIII Hero . Like many people complain, I also realized the high stock voltage but I set it down to 1,15 volts and had no problems. After that I started overclocking. I got it stable @4,5 GHz with 1,25 volts on manual core voltage. Because I don´t want the CPU to run all the time at 4,5 GHz and higher voltages I switched to adaptive mode. Here the bios settings: But thats where the wierd stuff showed up. After starting windows the voltages got to 1,264 or even 1,28 volts even if I just start google chrome or something. On load tested with cinebench the voltage got to about 1,248 like I set in the bios. Is this normal or did I miss a bios setting? I just tested the same on manual mode again. Even there I have 1,264 volts on idle and 1,232 volts testing with cinebench but not as bad as adaptive mode. Hope you can help me
  11. I just put together my new PC, consisting of the following: an i5 7600k An ASRock Z270 Killer SLI/ac motherboard 8GB (2x4GB) of Crucial Ballistix Sport LT (2400 MHz) a Sapphire RX 470 4GB a Corsair H100i v2 I managed to dial in a 5GHz overclock, mostly stable. Under load, the voltage stays at 1.360 V, spiking up to 1.440 V occasionally. Is this a safe level for Kaby Lake? This is my first time overclocking, and I want to keep a nice and long lifespan of my new PC. Thanks
  12. Hi, this is my first topic on this forum. I have been doing some digging around and have not found a precise answer to my questions, so I have decided to start a new tread. I have a 6800K on the Asus Maximus V Edition 10 motherboard. The system has an open loop water cooling setup. I have it overclocked to 4.2Ghz with 1.410v stable. Is this overclock too high for the chip??? It's not stable with anything less than 1.410v at 4.2Ghz, not even 1.405v. Dropping it down to 4.0Ghz it takes 1.380v for it to be stable. Should I drop the overclock back down to 4.0Ghz or is 4.2Ghz alright??? Is my chip a bad overclocking chip??? Temps at 4.2Ghz is around high 60s to low 70s. Thank You in advance for any advice.
  13. Hey there, folks. I have some questions about my CPU voltage. In the BIOS on my ASUS Prime B350 Plus, I have my voltage offset set to 1.375v (base) - 0.09375v = 1.28125v, but I'm getting some really weird readings on it. I'm currently at stock frequencies for the time being because no game or application of mine really needs the 4.0 GHz overclock I achieved yesterday. Anyway, my voltages jump around. A lot. In theory, I should be sticking around 1.28v, give or take a few (that's the lowest I can set the offset without a random shutdown or BSOD), but I can see voltages in Ryzen Master jumping around significantly. The highest spike I saw was 1.425v, which is pretty worrying to me and much higher than it probably needs to be (unless I'm really mistaking what Ryzen needs). Secondly, I'm getting really absurd readings if I look at my CPU voltage within CPU-Z, showing spikes as high as 2v! Can anyone explain these things I've noticed: the high spikes I see in Ryzen Master with normal-looking voltage, and the absolutely mind-blowing readings I'm getting in CPU-Z? Take a look at this screenshot for my CPU-Z vs. Ryzen Master voltage readout comparison:
  14. So I've gotten myself a Radeon HD 7850. It's an overclocking beast and it's a known fact, I've reached 1050MHZ on the core without touching the memory clock for now. The problem is, no matter which software I use the voltage limit for the thing seems to be 1.210V, the same exact voltage that the card automatically ramps up to if any stressful workload is applied. Now as long as I remember, stock Radeon 7850 cards have the stock voltage somewhere around the 1.18V mark, correct me if I'm wrong. I'm using a VTX3D HD 7850, and I'm just wondering, am I doing something wrong, am I using the wrong software or is it a BIOS limitation of that certain card? For now I have tried MSI AB, Trixx and even AMD overdrive found in the CCC, nothing works really. Thanks guys
  15. GI need help with stabalising my overclock. These are some of the settings i am running with. I need advice on stabalising it, but i am unsure what are safe values to set in the voltages.
  16. Hi i just have a quick question on power supply voltages, it's just out of interest. In the picture i've attached i know the formula is (watts = volts x amps). For the +12V Rail in the picture doing volts x amps gives you the correct number. (+12V rail, 83.3 x 12 = 1000w (ruffly, 999.6w to be precise)) But when you get to the 3.3v and 5v rail the wattage is combined. How is this number calculated because doing (3.3 x 25 = 82.5) + (5 x 25 = 125) = 207.5, this can't be correct since it shows 150W. So my question is, how is this number (150W) calculated?
  17. Hi All, I'm new to overclocking and PC building, but have got my i7 5820k to 4.5Ghz and it's not crashing in Unigene Valley, Heaven, 3dMark Time Spy or Aida64*. Parts list is here: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/rT8wcc At idle, the temps run around 28 to 33 degrees. I've upped the CPU multiplier to 45 and memory to XMP profile 1 (2666Mhz) and it runs at 72 degrees indefinitely (over 3 hours so far) with CPU, Memory and GPU tick boxes selected (not FPU, cache or local disks). Also, I've pressed the physical GPU higher power limit button on the graphics card, I'm running the graphics card at 1100Mhz via Trixx, and I've upped the Trixx software power limit to +50%. I haven't changed any other settings, and the CPU core voltage builds from 1.19v to 1.243v in CPUID. I believe the core voltage is set to variable voltage as again, I haven't changed anything else. However, When I run the AIDA64 system stability test with every tick box selected aside from "stress local disks", the system will crash within seconds, hence the asterisk (*) above. When I'm gaming or running the visual benchmarks mentioned, It's not crashed once for over a month now.. only while stress testing above in AIDA64 with FPU, Cache and local disks selected . Should I just leave it be and be happy with the OC (and likely start gloating), or does the FPU or Cache test crashes indicate a problem yet to surface if / when I start encoding videos. All the best, ChrisDiz
  18. Hi all, So i want a few questions answered, y is it that i can get a stable overclock with a lower voltage using aida64, then when i use prime95. Aida 64 i can get 5ghz at 1.3v but i think i could get but still testing... all my cores are 100% and staying there and no crashes... and avx is at 0 and temps are about 80-84 max on 1 core When i use prime 95 i have to put on a avx offset at 2 and my voltage is about 1.34... to get a 0 avx i have to go higher and my temps are round the 95- 100 mark What i want to know is whats the best way to make sure my system is stable for gaming i dont do anything on it other then game and watch films Are these temps to high? And i want to know if there is a way to get my temps down and still have the avx at 0 And i want to know is it better to have the oc stable from prime or aida?
  19. So my computer has been shutting down unexpectedly while I’ve been playing Fortnite, ever since season two came out on Tuesday. I will be playing the game, and then all of a sudden the computer will shut down. It’s happened four times already, twice last night after only like 45-60 minutes. I posted this below to the /r/fortniteBR reddit initially to see if I would get other responses with the same issue, but so far nobody has echoed my issue. For reference, the computer and its hardware is four years old. GTX 980 Ti i7 4770K 16GB RAM Then someone said it is probably a PSU option, that the PSU is probably failing and linked me to this page: https://www.maketecheasier.com/signs-symptoms-of-dying-power-supply/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf Here is what Open Hardware Monitor is reporting for the values. The site says to look at the 3.3V, 5V, and 12V values, but I'm not sure what the AVCC, 3VCC, 4VSB, AND VBAT values mean, but they're all hovering right around the 3.3V marker. I think the 3.440V is only 4% off, and there aren't 5V or 12V readings that I can see.
  20. I have a few questions regarding the voltages on the Ryzen 5 3600. After I assembled my new Rig a few days ago I was quite unhappy with the behaviour of my R5 3600, it would constantly jump around between 30 – 45c°at idle, causing my fans to perpetually ramp up and then again slow down. It was quite annoying. In my attempts at fixing this, I encountered the high idle voltages of the R5 at around 1.45v. After researching a bit the principle is basically, at least from what I understood, that the voltages are high under low load or high single core load, but it is supposed to have lower voltages under sustained heavy multi core load. Now to fix my original problem I manually overclocked it to 4.2 ghz at a set 1.3 core voltage, while disabling “precision boost” and enabling “Amd cool and quiet”. So far the system appears to be quite stable, though I admit I did not subject it to sustained testing. But there haven’t been any problems while running prime95 for around 30 minutes or the occasional gaming I did since then. The idle temps are down to a stable 28c° and under load I am at around 65c° max. Cinebench R15 gives me around 1670 for multicore and around 198 for single core. All in all I am quite happy. But there is still a voice of concern in the back of my head. All over the place they tell you not to mess with the stock settings for the R5 3600 since it would mess with the “high voltage with no load – low voltage under high load” principle for no performance gain. So what voltages does it actually use with stock settings under load ? And more importantly am I in danger of degrading my CPU with my sustained 1.3v ? Thanks for helping me out.
  21. Hi everyone, I've been reading about safe cpu voltages lately and it seems like no one has mentioned going above 1.39 for the cpu. I also noticed in hwmonitor my cpu's voltage is at 1.424 if I got that right. Is this safe for the cpu and it's life span? I have a h100i v2 as my cpu cooler.
  22. My offsets aren't working and my CPU is idling at 35-45c with water cooling I have changed the offset to both + and - but it either defaults to 1.4v+ on boot or under volts my ryzen 5 1600 this didn't happen before new bios and I don't know what the old bios version was Mobo Asus prime b350 plus
  23. So my pc has been malfunctioning for a couple of weeks now, it freezes and crashes randomly, specially when I'm playing games. The problem is that I'm not sure what the cause is. I already checked if I have bad ram with MemTest86 and I didn't get any ram errors. So now I want to check if the problem comes from my power supply. I downloaded HWMonitor and these are my voltages. I would appreciate a lot if someone told me if these numbers are ok. Thanks in advance.
  24. So i recently bought a 3700x and a MSI MPG X570 GAMING PRO CARBON WIFI, and i saw i was getting high temps at idle (from 44 to 60, most of the time being closer to 60 than 44) and Voltages jumping from 0.987 to 1.487 or 1.5 constantly, like it weren´t even "idling" and the speed stays arround 4.0Ghz constantly. I have the stock cooler with a pretty decent (not highly agressive fan curve) and y have alredy tried some things as: Disabling PBO and Enabling Cool n´ Quiet, setting the Ryzen power plan to balanced, even to energy saver but neither of these worked. I tried also to set te voltage to "normal" but my mobo doesn´t give me that option (I only have: Auto, Override, Offset, and AMD Overclock so i didn´t tried any of these yet). I don´t know what else to do or if i should try something else. Please, if someone could help me or tell me if this is allright and i should not worry would be great. Thx. (Btw, the software i´m using to measure all of this is HWINFO64, and i also tried with HWMonitor too, but no difference).
