Hi all, I am encountering a strange error when installing a fresh build of VMware ESXI 8.0.2, its a brand new server with no VM's being hosted. (Server: DL380 G10, writing to a 300GB RAID 1 array for the hypervisor) After installing, on boot we briefly see this plugin activation failure: "Jumpstart plugin restore-security-policies activation failed" (Please see image attached). Some web surfing mentions a TPM issue, but we have not been able to find anything concrete. Logs from VMware host site provides the following: 2023-11-23T05:17:16Z Wa(180) vmkwarning: 0:00:00:00.792 cpu0:1)WARNING: Elf: 3487: Ignoring undefined symbol __divti3 2023-11-23T05:17:16Z Wa(180) vmkwarning: 0:00:00:05.855 cpu0:2097152)WARNING: Helper: 1059: 13 not found 2023-11-23T05:16:46.096Z Wa(180) vmkwarning: cpu0:2097152)WARNING: VMKAcpi: 809: PCCT table defines no PCC subspaces 2023-11-23T05:16:56.092Z Wa(180) vmkwarning: cpu24:2097616)WARNING: DVX: 262: DVX heap size exceeds maximum heap size. hallo. I had a problem with vmware when i used a kingston DTSE9G2 as a boot usb. The usb created multiple partition of 250mb and the rest not registered. Does anyone know which usb stick (type, brand and/or specific usb) is best for vmware to boot. Thank you in advance

Been banging my head against wall all night trying to get a gpu working on esxi tried gtx 760 and then i read that NVidia is evil and blocks consumer grade cards from VMs so I tried an rx 470 both get error 43 any ideas or should i just give up now? My plan was to use 2 gtx 1070s because I already have a couple kicking around but looks like NVidia is out of the question. I'm not ready to invest in more amd cards until I have some proof of concept. any help would be great.

vmware esxi PFsense won't gain internet connection in esxi 7.0
DJ Sierra 117 posted a topic in Networking
hello everyone, I have been scratching my head trying to get my esxi instance of PFsense to connect the out side internet via static. I have it on the "VM Network" <---- External default vmware vSwitch connection and "VM Internal" <---- Internal vSwitch I created. it can connect to VM's behind the PFsense instance but not outside to the wider internet via the "VM Network" this has worked before in 6.7 but seems to be giving me trouble since moving to 7.0 any help would be much appriciated. Thank you in advance -
Budget (including currency): 2500ish (If there was a good reason to go higher I might consider it.) Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Initially for fort nite, but long term it will be an ESXI host Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): My son needs a decent rig to play games on with his friends before he leaves for 2 years. After that it will be converted to an ESXI server for use in my house. I already have a 1080Ti that will use with it for gaming, and also have an Adaptec controller and drives I will put in raid configuration once I convert it. Here are the parts I am thinking to buy, just need to get feed back on compatibility and also if you think something could be better or if something is missing please offer input. So I just did the startup wizard for pfsense hit the reload button then go to web configurator and now it says it cant connect to it so I try to ping it.....it comes back successful. What could be the issue? Things I've tried. 1)powering off then on the VM 2)restarting the modem 3)reset it(was able to get to the wizard and set it up again then it did the same as before) 4)testing the configuration on another machine (worked) Please help I need the VM back online quick. Hi guys, we are trying to convert 3 windows ESXI instances to Hyper-V as out customer would like to move to hyper-v. We decided to use the starwind V2V converter after some success with in office testing. When we came to doing the project live we were able to convert 2 out of the 3 instances. the 2 we converted were set up in Legacy mode. The last one which is the Domain controller is a UEFI Windows Server 2012R2 instance. it converts successfully but when we try to launch the Gen-2 instance in hyper-v, we see the spinning dots and the get an error of "windows has encountered an error and will reboot" I believe it also says inaccessible boot device but the screen only appears for millisecond before rebooting. After a second attempt with the same results it loads into recovery mode. unfortunately the customer does not know the root / recovery AD password as we need that to open CMD to try running some commands. We have left everything as in on the ESXI and left it there. We have also booted into a ISO image and tried all the bootrec / bcdedit commands suggested online but none of them work. We tried doing a Acronis 12.5 Backup of the server and then restore it as a VM this also failed with the same simptoms we also installed a shell server 2012R2 in UEFI mode and the tried to restore the C drive from the server to the C drive of the shell 2012r2 but the results were still the same. We have created a ESXI VMDK as well to test in office to see if we can boot that on our test environment and try to perform some more in house testing. Does anyone have any suggestions we could try ? not sure why the boot device is inaccessible after the conversion. all the other servers had no issues. Thanks !

Dear friends and form members This is a plea for help Last week we had a power outage in our facility and ever since we have noted, that our database server is very slow... (VM ware server with virtual machines) We began to investigate the drives a and everything and the last thing we noticed that the VM has no l1 or l2 or l3 chache values. is it possible that during the shutdown the bios or something got reset and the cpus are not working optimally? Can we assign the cache to the vm in ESXI? The reason for this conclusion is that a dev server with much older hardware had 3x the performance with the same dataset. How can we fix this? Any idea is welcome...

Why don't consider to create a video about create the best cheap esxi server ever, the new Atom platform and the cheapest equivalent xeon will work good. There is a lot of people working from home, or just freelances that ask me sometimes about this. A lot of Ram is gonna be a must, and internal SSD's + external NAS are very common too. This will rock a lot! Thanks for your job guys!
