Hey everybody, on my Lenovo Yoga Pro 7, there is some kind of content "optimization" going on which changes the contrast levels inside VLC, the windows video player and also web content based on input from the facial recognition sensors. So basically, when I watch a video in VLC or another player, contrast is modified depending on the brightness of my environment. Mostly, that means way too much contrast and only when I put my hand over the sensors around the webcam, the contrast goes down to a level that I think is appropriate. This effects the entire window of VLC, so also the playback controls, but in my browser I think it only effects video and photo content. Stuff like my desktop background is also not effected as far as I can tell. Now I just can`t figure out on what level this is happening. I guess it must be a setting in Windows 11, or some Lenovo software, but everything I can find in the windows settings regarding automatic brightness etc. is turned off and I also can´t find a setting inside Lenovo Vantage that makes a difference. Thanks for your help and sorry if this is really easy to fix, maybe I just don´t know what to google but I can´t seem to find anything on this. My Laptop: Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 14IRH8 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-13700H 2.40 GHz NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050, 6gb Windows 11 Home 23H2

The fonts have gotten so small to a degree where I genuinely can't read it unless I'm basically pressing my nose against my tv. Pretty sure it's gotten to the point where words are written pixel by pixel. So far I've only noticed it on VLC, qbittotrent, and wallpaper engine. I'm using windows 11 with a 4k 65" tv. I've included pictures that will hopefully clarify what I'm talking about.

I had a idea I wanted to try for my private Discord server with 5 friends. I want to find a way that a program or a bot can stream a mp4 or similar file on a video chat automatically, say like I set the video to play for a specific time and/or I can select what plays later at another specific time. The purpose of this would be to host a stream party where we can gather and watch something, then when that file is done the next file could automatically play or wait until the selected time. Perfect for intermission. Also I was thinking bot or program so I don't have to be logged in while the file is going, so I can interact with other things on Discord without disturbing the stream. Would I need a dedicated account for this, would a bot or a script do? I have never done this sort of thing at all and I would like your advice. For bonus points, could this feature/bot be hosted on a Raspberry pi so my other pc or whatever is used is not taxed with this request? I am very new to this stuff, so any help is useful. If a pi can do it, I could have it connect to my NAS Plex server(when I get it going) if that is possible, so the pi itself doesn't have to hold the video files.

Hello I can successfully cast movies from my MBP to my TV when using apps like Stremio (streaming app), for instance. However, when I try to cast local video files from my MBP to my TV using VLC, it fails after a few seconds (maybe 10-20 seconds) without any error message or other useful information. This is not dependent on the video file apparently. Any idea on how to troubleshoot this? Thanks -a-

Hello all, first time posting on the forum so forgive me if it's in the wrong location. I'm trying to set my Intel nuc (i3 4010u 12gb ram) up on the TV (lg B9 oled) for my parents to watch game of thrones when I'm not on the playstation, but I'm getting stuttering playback with artifacts and it's unwatchable I've looked online and tried a few basic fixes including buying a new displayport to hdmi 2.1 cable. But it's still unwatchable I'm wondering if the pc just isn't capable of 4k video playback I've attached some photos of the problem as well as the pc specs. Its not a big deal if I can't get it to work, I just thought I'd let them enjoy my Oled when I'm not using it.

I'm running windows 10... When I play videos on the media players in my lap it becomes blown out like in the picture. VLC in the Top. POWERDVD in the bottom. VLC and windows default "films" app played video without any problem. But, other players I tried Potplayer, KMplayer, PowerDVD, played that video with blown out with brightness. (also I'm not the fan of enhacing color, motion smoothness, tru-theater, etc. I disabled all of them) When i tried to disable the display driver it becomes normal in colour. But, as you know the video become stutter. Pls help me.

Running POP_OS 20 LTS. So if I quit a running window of VLC it will close, but I can't open any other video again with VLC unless I kill the app. Also VLC does not show up in "top" in the terminal. I have to use "System monitor" the built in task manager to kill VLC. VLC does however show up in htop, but I don't know how to kill via htop. I have been having this issue since POP 19. It's very frustrating. How do I fix it?

Hi guys, recently for about 2 weeks my PC is running into this problem where any sort of video playback would be not sync with its respective audio after a few minutes into the video. The only way to sync them back was to rewind the video a bit. The solution lasts for about 2 minutes before the problem occurs again. I have run into this problem when I play local media stored on my hard drive, ( both MPC-HC and VLC has this problem) as well as on Youtube and Netflix and anime streaming websites. For VLC, I have even gone into the settings and set the audio desync compensation to about -15 and the problem comes back after a while. But the setting remained at -15. Whatever is happening, I think its related to my windows or my pc as a whole and is not restricted to my media player or network connections. The sound is always faster than the video. Never the other way around. I don't think it happens while im gaming. (usually i use headphones while gaming so I am unable to tell for certain) Heres some info about my setup. My PC is connected to my monitor (ASUS VX278H) via HDMI to my Gigabyte GTX 1070TI. I use the Creative Stage soundbar for my audio. It is connected to my MSI B150 Gaming M3 motherboard via an optical cable. Did any of you guys come across this problem before? If so, how did u fix it?

So I set the G8 key on my Logitech keyboard to "Open media player". This should open my default media player, VLC. Instead, it opens WMP. I found this strange since WMP isn't set as default for anything, including .cda files, which supposedly control this function. This isn't a serious problem, but is still a annoyance. Thank you, and have a nice day!

Hi all, I was hoping I could pick your brains for a moment. I have an issue that just nags at me with every YouTube video I watch and every video I play in VLC. I don't seem to have the problem with Netflix, however. At the very beginning of each video I watch the sound is absent for the first second. I say absent because it isn't out of sync -- it just isn't there. Now if I pause the video and rewind to the beginning it will be there as the video starts. So when I open a video in VLC or click a video in YouTube I never hear whatever audio is present in the first second of play. It isn't a huge deal, but it bothers me enough to ask about it. Thank you in advance. And JohnnyCorporalTech just made me realize that this only happens over HDMI and not with headphones. Thank you Johnny. And good Lord have I Googled the heck out of this. edited: coherence, clarity.

Hello all, Does anyone know the minimum requirements to use VLC? the reason i'm asking is becouse i want to re-use my old laptop as a video player but i keep having tons of artifacting. This is the laptop i'm talking about: Samsung NP-N110 Intel Atom N270 (single core) with 1GB DDR2 ram, i know is a realy weak pc but i'm sure it could handle video back in its days. I have installed Windows 10 32bit, ram usage is about 700MB at idle, i have read that it might be becouse the single core cant decode fast enough or perhaps i need more ram.

I routinely play 4k video content at accelerated speeds. However, Potplayer drops frames and lags the video stream, and VLC glitches up on my rig (new i5 and RX 480). An example is posted below. I'm playing either MKV or RAW video. How do I stop this?

CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 stock cooler GPU: GIgabyte GTX 1050ti 4GB OC Gaming Motherboard: Gigabyte AB-350 Gaming 3 Monitor: Full HD Connection: HDMI Now I know my motherboard and CPU supports 4k video playback, but I am not sure about the GPU. My monitor is not 4k, but from what I know, this is more related to hardware. I am fine with Full HD, but I want to see if my system can handle 4K or not. I tried some samples and they are super choppy on VLC. They work better on MPC-HC with the CCCP codec pack. I have downloaded the madVR codec cause I heard it is the best codec. However, I am not sure about what settings will be optimal for my PC without causing any BSOD(GSOD) or any other issues. What will be the correct madVR settings?

I have a SONY BRAVIA XBR55x850d Android TV. I am trying to stream form a Synology NAS 916+. I have tried who things that do not work. First the native video/audio apps are not connecting to it. Second I would like to use the VLC app to stream audio/video. But I am not sure how to get it to connect to the server. I have contacted VLC support multiple times with no response and I cannot find any documentation to walk through the process. Advice?

So I've been making some guitar recordings using Audacity and the USB connection from my amp. Nothing too strange. However when I save them (using .wav though idk if that matters) it appears to be trying to auto-create the cover image for the audio file. Like for example I had one that I named "life is a highway", because that was the song I was playing, and it automagically put the actual cover for the real song as a tiny little image in the center of the screen whilst the audio is playing. And it's done this for a bunch of songs. Which would be fine except that it gets.... weird sometimes. For example I have a file named simply "thing.wav", and this is the image it decided to use: None of these images are otherwise saved on the PC in any way, at least that I'm aware of... And some files don't have any image at all. I'm so confused. Does anyone know how to turn this off or... something?

Ok guys, so here's the situation: Sometimes, my mouse, keyboard or both stop working. At random. But, most of the time this happens when watching anything on VLC. So at first I thought it was a VLC software issue... ...until it happened when I didn't have VLC open at all. This is something I haven't faced before, so obviously that gets me thinking about what changes I've recently made to the system. And the significant one in this case, is that I have the keyboard and the mouse now plugged into my ASUS ROG SWIFT PG348Q via the USB hub underneath it. Now, there's some serious cable management going on here so I don't want to undo all that and still have the issue. So I decided to get some help from you guys with troubleshooting it. Any ideas?

I have an Ubuntu machine with VLC. I set it up to stream some audio books for my sister, who doesn't have enough storage on her iPhone or iPad to download the files and play them natively. The issue is that once someone connects to the server through HTTP, the audio does not play on the device that is connected to the server, but instead the audio will play on the server itself. A user can hit the "play" and "stop" or "pause" buttons to control the audio playback, and cann even select what audio file to play, but it will only play on the server. What do I have to do to fix this issue so client device can stream and play the audio files to their device?

Hey everyone Recently i noticed a strange problem with the VLC Media Player. I know I should probably ask about this on their website but i figured here is as good a place as any. The problem is that whenever I am moving the window between my 2 monitors the colors of the image will change depending on which monitor most of the window is on. Don't get me wrong it is not that just the monitors are calibrated differently. The color changes on both screen as soon as the window is moved far enough to the other side. I attached a screenshot that shows how obvious the change in color is. The two monitors I use are: Asus PG248Q Asus VX24AH I was wondering if anyone else had/has that problem as well and if anyone could explain to me why this happens. Thanks in advance Jubsi
