Is there a list or a way to know if the ddr5 and ddr4 ram is single or dual rank?????
-
So... I'm sure we've all heard it and seen it, AMD has released Ryzen, with the bios updates and what-not it's actually not too terrible at gaming. Still not as good as a 7700k last I saw but it's pretty decent now, I believe the 1500x sits somewhere between the 7600 and 7700. I'm kind of on a bit of a budget, so I'm contemplating replacing my FX 8320 with 16GB of DDR3 1600Mhz ram with 16GB 2400Mhz DDR4 and a 1500/1600. Problem is I don't really see anything really anywhere comparing the FX 8350 to anything other than the 1800X. What're your thoughts on this whole situation, do you think it's worth replacing my FX 8320 and stepping out of the stone age? Really all I do is gaming and drawing on my PC. Any input would be interesting to see. Many thanks - Nis

So, my 6350 seems to not even break a sweat under a stress test on AIDA64, reaching only 46°C, which is literally nothing. It idles at 25°C, the temperature of the room it is in. It is clocked at 4 GHz, which is admittedly a low overclock of 100 MHz for an FX processor, but I lost the silicon lottery, woe is me. But it doesn't seem to get hot at all under load; I touch the heatsink and it feels cold to the touch. Strangely, it throttles down to 1.5 GHz when playing Forza Motorsport 6 Apex, but it is keeping a solid 4 GHz on AIDA64. Again, temps are insanely low. What's the big idea? I cannot screenshot the computer because obviously it is under full load.

Guys, I need help fast. Ok, so I'm upgrading my CPU and I don't know which one to choose... So, I'm looking at: FX-8350 : 159.22 EUR FX-8370 Black Edition: 185.22 EUR FX-8370e Black Edition : 162.47 EUR Thanks in advance guys-

So, I know that an i5 or ryzen will overperform the FX-series, but why? Some have higher cores and GHZ, like the 9590, 8C 4.7GHZ. But like an i5-7600K, 4C 3.8GHZ, lower, but better. Why?

Hi all, new to these forums, and planning my first build. So, should I get and AMD FX-8350 (4ghz stock) for 220$ or an FX-8300 (3.3ghz stock) and attempt to over clock it to the 8350's speed? if that's at all possible on a 212 evo. The FX-8300 is a full 60$ cheaper. I plan on going with the Vishera line for the 8 cores, as I do lots of video and picture editing, 3d rendering etc. And I'm on a tight budget : )

Hello all, I'm building a LAN party gaming rig based on an old Dell Inspiron 570 that my father-in-law is dumping. So far I've put a few parts I've had lying around for awhile namely a Asus 980ti reference card, Samsung 840 Pro 120GB SSD, and a Corsair HX-850 PC. The board is a micro-ATX and my plan was to build it cheap using the following parts: 1. AMD FX-6300 6-core CPU - $90 2. Corsair Vengeance 8GB kit - $45 3. Asus M5A78L Micro-ATX AM3+ motherboard - $60 Not sure if there any issues putting an NVidia card in an AMD system but I don't think there should be an issue. Only problem I can see right now is cooling as the PS is in the top of the case so not much room for a good cooler. Any advice as to whether this is a feasible idea or not or if there any other possible problems I could run into would be appreciated.

My PSU recently said goodnight and I had to replace it today. Came home from Best Buy, wired everything up, and now my clock speed won't go above 1.37 GHz. I have an AMD FX6300 hexacore processor running at 3.5 GHz stock, 4.1 GHz OC. It currently is not overclocked but even when I do, the clock speed still won't run at max speed. Here are my specs: CPU: AMD FX-6300 @ 3.5GHZ GPU: ASUS R7 265 2gb RAM: 4x4gb Kingston HyperX FURY @ 1866 MHz PSU: Corsair CX750M (newly added as of today) Mobo: MSI 870 Gaming Running on a ADATA SP550 240gb SSD Windows 10 version 1511 64bit I searched the interwebs and most were saying to check your power saving mode ,and so I changed it to high performance with no avail. Also, as far as I know, core parking is not a part of Windows 10 so that can't be the issue either. CPU-Z says my core speed is 1400MHz which is where the problem occurs. The multiplier is at 7 and even when I change it to 20 (~4.0GHz) the speed does not increase. Went in to BIOS and disabled AMD's Cool'n'Quiet option with no results. I've attached a screenshot that shows the problem. Right at startup, the clock speed is only at 1.33 GHz, while off on the right hand side, you can see the maximum speed is 3.5GHz. The clock speed stays like this even under load. I launch GTA5 which will only utilize about 50% of my processor running at 3.5GHz, but it underperforms at only about 40% utilized and refuses to go any higher even with other programs open. Here is a screenshot of the system under load: I used HWMonitor to see what was going on, and apparently it was using all six of my cores at 100%, but the task manager still says it is only using about 40% of is potential. So the big question is: wtf is going on? I'm suspecting a hardware issue that correlated to the failed PSU but everything seems to work fine. All six cores will run at 100%, and I doubt it could be anything else since I can clearly see that the clock speed will not reach maximum speed no matter what.

Hey guys, I'm new here! Long story short: I've always enjoyed overclocking AMD systems and even though their latest CPUs are the most interesting for the extreme/competitive overclockers, I don't mind. Recently I found myself with a bit of spare time and decided to give AMD Vishera one more try before moving on to Excavator for Super PI 32M. Vishera is notoriously slow in SuperPI 32M, but the appeal of the benchmark is that it responds very well to memory subsystem and operating system optimizations. Among the die-hard overclockers, there a bit of a race to get the "most efficiency" result with a limited CPU clock frequency of 5GHz. System Specs AMD FX-8370 ASUS 970 Pro Gaming/AURA 2x 4GB DDR3-2666 Corsair Dominator Platinum Target Score: Robbo2's 14 min 9.391 seconds So that score is what I've been aiming for. I'm testing the performance of the system first with Super PI 8M (checking if the times has improved) and then switch to Super PI 32M for the real deal. Results with All-In-One CPU Frequency: 5000 MHz IMC Frequency: 2666 MHz Memory Frequency: DDR3-2666 C9-12-11-23 OS: Windows XP Tweaks: LSC disabled, Copy-Waza, Maxxmem = 600 SuperPI 8M: 2 min 55.657 SuperPI 32M 14 min 20.468 Results with Liquid Nitrogen Last night I tried liquid nitrogen cooling for the first time in a LOOONG time and even though my skills are a bit rusty, it went quite well :). CPU Temperature: -60C CPU Frequency: 5000 MHz IMC Frequency: 3329 MHz Memory Frequency: DDR3-2666 C9-12-11-23 OS: Windows XP Tweaks: LSC disabled, Copy-Waza, Maxxmem = 600 SuperPI 8M: 2 min 54.657 SuperPI 32M 14 min 14.734 Next Session! I've tested the IMC frequency up to 3.6 GHz, which gave me another 0.9 seconds in 8M and approximately 2.3 seconds in Super PI 32M. But not only did it crash, it would also not have been enough to grab Robbo2. So in my next session I will either try to increase the frequency one step higher to ~4GHz or increase the memory frequency to 1375 MHz (DDR3-2750). Either way should yield results close to Robbo2 in which case my mission is a success. I hope you guys liked reading my thread. If you have any questions related to the hardware, tuning the frequencies or timings, or the nitrogen cooling - feel free to drop a message below. See ya around!

So, I am a student, and pieced together about €215 of savings after about 5 months, and I want to upgrade my PC for gaming. I have been looking at a few upgrade paths and I can do this: Path 1 (Skylake, DDR4): Intel Core i3-6100, Gigabyte GA-H110M-S2H and 8GB Crucial DDR4 RAM. I can save off a couple of euros on the RAM but not much. This path will cost me €230, which is slightly over budget Path 2 (Haswell, DDR3): Intel Core i3-4170, MSI H81M-P33 and 8GB Crucial DDR3 RAM. This'll cost me €186, so I will have €29 left over for something else Path 3 (Vishera, DDR3): AMD FX-8320, Gigabyte-GA-78LMT-USB3 and Crucial 8GB DDR3 RAM. This, is once again over budget at €239, unless I go for the FX-6300. Path 4 (Kaveri, DDR3): AMD Athlon X4 860K, ASRock FM2A88M Extreme4+ and Crucial 8GB DDR3 RAM Cheapest route, at €156. I might be able to sneak in an SSD as well (or some steam games) Path 5 (???): Your choice, in that case put it in the comments. The reason I put this up here, since I have a difficulty finding out what is the best option. 3 out of 4 CPUs aren't on Anandtech's CPU bench which is what I usually look at. My current specs are: Intel Core2 Quad Q8300 2.5GHz some OEM LGA775 mobo 4GB DDR2-800 RAM 750GB HDD GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB Corsair Carbide SPEC-03 Cooler Master V450 Thanks for your help!

I am getting an FX 8320 and planning to overclock it. Will This board be a good choice? http://www.amazon.com/dp/B008B6ONXK/?tag=pcpapi-20 Or is there something else comparably priced that would better?

Ok, its finish. The chip looked promising firt time, but after 4900 MHz everything changes. For 4900 MHz it was OK all around 1.39-1.412V. But for 5 GHz I must jump voltage up to 1.475 to 1.5V (depends at test). And maximum for Cinebench was "only" around 5050 MHz with 1.535V. Cinebench R10 single thread Cinebench R11.5 Cinebench R15 for fun Cinebench 2003 After I tested the modules and one is crap. The best modules are 2nd a last one. No problem over 5500 MHz idle. max validation with 1.57V, 5628 MHz http://valid.canardpc.com/u7k6si Superpi 1M and 32M at best module (core 6+7) the good things, this chip has very good CPUNB. 1.325V and over 2800 MHz for Superpi 32M

Hey guys, I dunno if this question has been asked before here (nothing showed up when I searched for it), so sorry if it has been. Anyways, the motherboard I'll be using will be the ASRock 990FX Extreme9 since it's the only high-end motherboard with a fair price where I'm from... about $230. "What the?" Yes, I know. But the ASUS Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 and Crosshair V Formula Z motherboards both go for almost $300 a piece! Not fair... Back on track, would you guys suggest that I pay extra to get the FX 9590 (about $400) or should I just stick with the 8350 (about $250) and an H100i liquid cooler (about $110) and overclock it to be nearly equals with the 9590? Or is that even possible? I don't really have a budget (I work hard!), but I still don't want to throw money into something that isn't really worth the extra cost. Oh, and I should mention that this build will be paired up with a Sapphire R9 290X Tri-X 4GB and will be used for gaming, video/photo editing, and Blender. Thanks!

So hi peeps Im gonna build a gaming pc,and as this is my first build, altough i watched linus´s how to build guide, that´s how to build, but not the rate of parts So here are the parts i chose, please rate them/tell if they are compatible... My budget is 800$ So here goes : Case : http://www.alientech.pt/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=&products_id=19105 Motherboard : http://www.alientech.pt/product_info.php?cPath=180_15_297&products_id=18929 Processor : http://www.alientech.pt/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=&products_id=19024 2x Ram : http://www.alientech.pt/product_info.php?products_id=20215 Hard Drive : http://www.alientech.pt/product_info.php?products_id=18578 Optical : http://www.alientech.pt/product_info.php?cPath=180_13_53_58&products_id=22979 PSU : http://www.alientech.pt/product_info.php?products_id=18795 Wi-Fi : http://www.alientech.pt/product_info.php?cPath=186_254_261&products_id=21194 Also, should i get the Gigabyte/Sapphire/MSI Gaming/Asus Directcu 2 R9 270 ? http://www.alientech.pt/product_info.php?products_id=23239 Cooler : http://www.alientech.pt/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=&products_id=14896 Also,YES i know that wi-fi and gaming is not very well combined...so please dont write things like that, all i wanna know is if i can get anything better for the price,or if the parts are even compatible and power is enough, im just using wi fi because i dont really want to have a 2 meters cable lying around my floor... Thanks!

So here is the lay down: Just got the 8320, and the temps have stayed at 20 - 30 C at idle for the past 3 months. I have a Corsair H100, with SP120 quiet edition fans, in a pull config. Mobo is a brand new Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P. Until recently I could stream with OBS at fast or even medium settings (game depending). And I was, until today, where the CPU hit 80 C and BSODed my PC. Now the temps of running OBS before was always around 40 - 55C at medium, and I usually stream at fast. The CPU usage was around 60 percent MAX. So the CPU wasnt getting pinned all day, at some crazy temperature. NOW: If i try to even OPEN chrome up, the temp will rise from 50 (at idle!?) to 65, then dive back really quick. If I try to do any CPU tests, the cpu gets up to 80 C, then BSODs... H100 shows no signs of changing pump speeds, or fan speeds... (might just be the quiet fans) And my room recently is very hot, after the first BSOD. I just started my PC today, and the room went from 70 degrees F, to 95 F in the time its taken me to write this whole text out. temps: and volts: I am overclocked at 4.2GHz, and it was stable up until now. So?

I've been having some issues with a recent build for a friend and was wondering if the CPU may be faulty, or if all of these problems are because of the motherboard. Here is a current list of problems: 1) CPU only reaches 95% with prime95 running. The CPU as reported by task manager never reaches more than 94-95% total usage(including prime, windows services, etc) regardless of which test I run(Small FFT, Large, Blend, custom with 90% RAM). CoreTemp reports 100% across all cores though. Aida64 will stress the CPU 100% in task manager. Is this even an issue? 2) CPU throttles when approaching 40-45 degrees. The CPU is usually running 30-38 at load, depending on time of day(currently 27C outside, warmer in my room. running at 39C) with Swiftech H320. For some reason the temperature will sometimes jump to high 40s and the CPU will start to severely throttle(x7 multi). I suspect it is a VRM issue(this revision of the motherboard is known to have issues with this chip) 3) HWMonitor has reported minimum CPU temperature under load as 0 degrees. I suspect this happens partially because of the throttling, and partially because of AMDs temperature formula. 4)Not sure if this is problematic, but under 100% load the CPU is about 60 watts maximum according to HWMonitor. This CPU has 125W TDP so I was expecting more. System specs: -Windows 8 Pro 64 bit -XFX 850W Pro PSU -Gigabyte 990fxa-ud3 rev. 3 motherboard <- I suspect this is what is causing most if not all of the issues. Rev. 3 of this board is garbage and is currently pending RMA due to known throttling and VRM issues. -16GB Corsair Dominator 1600mhz(2x8gb) -Samsung 840 250GB SSD -PowerColor AX7970 -AMD FX-8350 CPU -Swiftech H320 Cooler -ASUS PCE-N53 Wireless card There is no BIOS update available for the motherboard. Rev. 3 is known to be complete garbage and we are currently waiting on an RMA number for this.

Hello all, I thought I'd drop a line here and see if anyone out there in the mighty 'ol world wide webs' would have any advice to render an issue that's made me effectively pull most, if not all of my remaining hair out. (<- input hairline joke, har har!) RIG SPECS: CASE: FRACTAL DESIGN XL R2 (<- doesn't really matter but I know "someone" is going to want to know.) PSU: CORSAIR AX1200I MOTHERBOARD: GIGABYTE 990FXA-UD7 REV. 3.0 CPU: AMD 8350 VISHERA COOLING: CORSAIR H100I PUSH/PULL RAM: 32GB CORSAIR VENGEANCE 1600MHZ VIDEO CARD(S): EVGA GTX 770 4GB FTW ACX (SLI) SSD: KINGSTON HYPER 3K x 2 (RAID 0) HDD: SEAGATE BARRACUDA 1.5TB X 4 (RAID 5) If anyone would like I could upload my DXDIAG, my CPUID file, GPUZ file so on and so forth. Just let me know what you're needed to assist me and I'll do my best to supply whatever it is you feel you need. ISSUE: I'm attempting to over clock my AMD 8350 to a reasonable 4.8-5.0 on a VERY efficient H100i push/pull setup that when idling at 4.2Ghz sits around 12-14C (no bullshit). Under full load this CPU won't go over 26C. AMD says the MAX TDP of the 8350 is 62C so I feel that I'm more than within range for temperature. Every time I try to hit 4.5Ghz I have to drive the voltage up to 1.400V to keep it stable within the Windows 7 environment and then when I start to run Prime95 (with checking CPUID & CoreTemp) it starts all 8 cores up, then cores 4, 5, 6 & 7 stop, run back to 0% fail out and only cores 0, 1, 2 & 3 will remain performing the Prime95 stress test which is only running the Small FFL test all the while the motherboard droops the VCORE down from 1.400V to 1.365V which I feel is the main reason it's failing cores 4, 5, 6 & 7 considering my build and 3 other customers' builds (same CPU) all sit around 1.385V-1.412V with the standard Turbo Boost mode trying to push the CPU to 4.2Ghz on all default settings. What I would like is for anyone with the same motherboard as me, or someone willing to research the motheboard EUFI and tell me what settings I may be missing that I need to have turned off, or what I have to have turned on to STOP the motherboard from dropping the voltage from what I'm telling the CPU to hold onto because I feel this is exactly what's going on as to why it's failing. I've seen multiple videos on YouTube of users starting out voltage at 1.52 and hitting 4.8 and then reducing voltages to a modest 1.48V-1.43V and keeping their 4.8Ghz stable. Hell, I've even seen people hit 5.2Ghz on a 1.53v VCore so I'm curious if it's MY motherboard and it's own inability to keep the voltage I want, or if it's a setting I'm missing. Someone, please enlighten me to what I'm missing or doing wrong. If I haven't given you enough information - please request what you need and I'll do my best to help you and please, make a list if need be of what you need and I'll get everything to you in one fail swoop. Thanks - and happy Over Clocking! B) - BusinessRogue

Hello. So I'm planning to buy this motherboard for my build with the FX-6300. Does it support the Vishera CPUs out of the box or does it need an UEFI update before it can be used? Does anyone have experiences with this board? Thank you.

Hey, so I've been considering upgrading my cpu + mobo, I currently have an am3+ mobo and the AMDfx 8350 Black Edition@ 4GHz, I was thinking of upgrading to a i5 4670K and a Z87k mobo- will the performance gain be worth it? I also have a 4gb gtx 760 and my psu/RAM won't be an issue.

I'm considering building with an AMD CPU now, and I want to know which board seems to be the best when it comes to overclocking and price. What I want to use at this moment FX-8320 R9 290 Corsair ram ( Any ) Cooler Master N300 Case WD Black 500GB PSU ( Any 80+ Gold modular I can find on sale ) Using the G750JM for a while now and I've yet to have an actual gaming desktop.

A VR-Zone forum user has got his hands on a retail sample AMD FX-9590 (which is based off the same 32nm HKG process used on Piledriver and Bulldozer, so this is the same stuff as the FX processors, yet clocked faster and eating away a lot of power. It has 8 cores and 8 threads, 8MB cache and it's clocked at 4.7GHz (5.0GHz Turbo core 3.0). Expected price is around $800 which is not very far from the Core i7-3960X. At idle, the chip runs at 1.4GHz (0.875V) but when it turbo's up to 5.0 GHz it requires 1.513V! That might not even be stable enough with some motherboards and it will require some high end cooling. The processor is very similar to the older FX8350 with the only difference being the higher clocks thanks to them being very highly binned. It has been tested on an ASRock 990FX Extreme9. Source: http://www.guru3d.com/news_story/amd_fx_9590_benchmarks_surface.html It's nice to see AMD trying to compete but the power draw and price are way too high... Forget about Intel I don't see a compelling reason for most people to want this over and FX8350
