virtual macine My Windows 10 VM on Virtual Box keeps freezing.
yanonbusiness posted a topic in Windows
I don't know exactly how good these forums will be for VM's, so if you know of a better place where I can seek out help, I would be very grateful to know about it. I am no expert to VM's, but I needed one, and I gave it a shot. I couldn't find any advanced, in-detail tutorials on this, so my settings are the most reasonable I could find. Despite it running quite well, it tends to freeze up after a while. This used to happen to my attempt at making an Android VM as well, and I don't know what could be causing it. I have attached the log for the VM and these are my PC specs and VM settings: PC: 32 GB RAM | 2 slots AMD Ryzen 7 2700 CPU NVidia GeForce RTX 2070 VM 32 MB of video memory VBoxSVGA graphics controller no 3D acceleration 4096 MB RAM 2 processors 100% execution cap Nested VT-x/AMD-V enabled KVM Paravirtualization Interface Hardware Virtualization enabled (enabled in BIOS as well) Those are really all the settings that I see relevant. Please provide a configuration that could help me if mine has the incorrect settings, or notify me if I'm lacking a setting that is crucial for VM's or something. If you know of a better place to find answers, again, please let me know. Thank you all for your help! Windows 2-2021-05-11-00-19-00.log- 2 replies

Im running a windows XP virtual machine through virtual box on windows 10. I have two games im currently trying to run from their discs. Anno 1503 AD the new world. And Command and Conquer Red Alert 2. They seem to install just fine but wont play and the overall performance of the VM itself is less than desirable. If anyone knows anything that can help me or even a way to run these games on windows 10 without a VM. It would be greatly appreciated. Ive missed these games. Ill include screenshots of the VMs info and my system info.

OSX has a nice feature called content cache. Read about it here In houses with low bandwidth it is very helpful. One of the biggest problems it solves is the nightly backup. This is a common problem that when an apple user plugs in their phone to go to sleep, it saturates the upload line, killing the internet for the rest of the house. With content caching on, the backup actually goes through the cache server so it is possible to, through QoS or similar, limit the upload of the server itself. Thus if you have 3 apple devices trying to backup simultaneously, they'll all share the same server QoS bandwidth limit. So my issue: Apple specifically blocks Content Cache from running on a VM (They say it and I definitely confirmed it). I'd love to just spin up a stripped down OSX VM that'll take care of the content cache instead of having to run a dedicated Apple computer. Thanks for the read.

Hi, Guys. I delided my i7 4790K and my Xeon X3470, at bought machines stopped to work the Virtual Box program. It starts, than freezes and need to be stopped with the task manager. I have another 4790K, so... Removed the delided 4790K, insert the original one (didin't change nothing at the BIOS) and started the computer, virtual box worked great, virtual machine runs normally, fast. Turn off the PC and changed back the 4790K's, didn't change nothing at the BIOS again, started the computer, open virutal box and the program freezes only at trying to set the config of one virtual machine. Than, 1 year latter i re-oppened the already delided one to see how it is inside, its good, no extra termal metallic compound spread outside the DIE, the aplication was good one. Closed the CPU and the virtual box program still don't worlking. At the Xeon X3470 computer, the virtual box used to work, delided the X3470, virtual box presents the same problem. The performance and temps of the CPUs are amazing, cold and fast! The games works, nothing freezes, except for the virtual box (that's why i think it's the virtualization technology). Anyone who delided a Intel CPU can confirm that? Anyone delided the CPU and virtualization technology still works? Anyone knows a program or a test that i can do to be sure that's only virtual technology ruined? P.S. Used the termal compound "Liquid Pro" from "Cool laboratory" Sorry bad english, i'm from Brazil. chromium Windows on Chromium...
Sean_Luscombe posted a topic in Linux, macOS and Everything Not-Windows
I'm wondering why I can't run Windows in Virtual Box on Chromium. I've a laptop that I have installed Chromium onto. I have VirtualBox installed also now on said Laptop running Chromium. Yet I can't find a way of selecting the iso file for boot in VirtualBox? Tried using it from an external USB, and I also tried copying it to the local downloads folder but I couldn't figured out how to even browse to that and if I did it was empty. Sorry I can't get a screenshot of VB selecting the iso image. Any feedback if this is A) even possible and B) where I'm going wrong would be greatly appreciated. Cheers- 1 reply

I'm looking for a software based solution, to control several virtual machines at one time using a single mouse and keyboard. Example: If I was on Google and clicked the search bar, all of my virtual machines would click the search bar at the same time; and then when I type something, they would all type. I've looked around but found nothing, I can't think why this wouldn't exist?

ual box auto keyboard capture in win 10 Ask Question 0 I am having an issue with Virtualbox. I am trying to install a VM in Win 10 I am getting the Auto capture warning. Whenever I hover over the VM window my mouse curser disappears. I hit F1 I get it back but I cannot proceed with the install in the VM. I have unchecked the auto capture box in input preferences keyboard & double checked that it stays unchecked but as soon as my curser hovers back over this window its gone again. I am on a surface pro 3 tablet. I am running VB 6.04 ON WIN 10 1809 build. At a loss to what to do next. I have completely uninstalled VB reinstalled addeded expansion pack. same issue. I have a second pc HP laptop also running win 10 when loading the exact same iso image it works flawlessly. I am at my wits end on this as I have gone through all the forums & the consensus is make sure that auto capture box is unchecked which it has been. Any help or direction that can be given would be greatly appreciated

I build a Host with very capable Hardware, Core i7 3770K with 8GB of RAM and 120GB SSD Host, 120GB SSD VM, 2TB Cache As diagram below: before I put online, I was testing OPNSense NAT performance under VM, I found I couldn't achieve at least 350Mbps, I assign 2 vCPU for OPNSense alone, during iperf Test, OPNSense max out 100% CPU Usage. Currently I doing separate machine, I thought using VM can save some electricity, but performance are not satisfied

Hi all- I'm new here, but I am hoping to get a little guidance. I am trying to install unRaid in a virtual box on my mac so I can learn it a bit to see if I would like to switch to it. I have been running FreeNAS, but I am fed up and ready to move to a new system. I downloaded the tool to make the USB, ran it, the ran the make bootable mac on it. I then spin up virtual box, but it can't see any iso or anything to boot from. Am I missing something? Is the make bootable supposed to create an iso on there or am I missing a step in the virtual box? Is there any other way to setup unraid so that i can try it (under the free trial) so i can see if it meets my needs before blowing up my freenas os? TIA! -Jason

So I am a college student who has made the switch to linux since I am a student it could be very likely I'll need a windows 10 install (I know there is office online). I want to just have a windows 10 virtual machine but keep running into a crashing issue. I have everything enabled in the bios and the machine starts up but after anywhere from 5-30 seconds of the installer running it will crash. By crash I mean screen goes black the box gets smaller then I see the virtual box screen shot (the same one as if I started the machine). I have posted a topic on oracle forums but have no luck. The first log (Windows 10-2018-08-03-00-37-15) i was told had nothing of note. Not sure if it will be of help but would appreciate any ideas. Anyone use linux with a windows 10 guest and preferably a ryzen cpu. (NOTE I have deleted and made a new vm with the same exact issue as before). I am also using nvidia drivers 390 (a tested driver for Ubuntu 18.04) recent.log Windows 10-2018-08-03-00-37-15.log

So long story short I am trying to run a specific game on Ubuntu in a virtual box, this game being runescape... why I am doing this you ask? Well there new client has occasional issues including the one of an update a few months ago breaking it for some people to the point whare the break becomes ingrained in the OS with no fix besides an OS reinstall. I don't want to do that so I'm running Ubuntu in a VB so I can play this on the new client on my main pc. The guest additions thing let's you use your host gpu in the VB and I follow the instructions and it wasent working so I double checked and 3d acceleration was off so I enabled that in virtual box and now I get to the Ubuntu login screen, enter password and that's it... won't go any further unless I disable 3d acceleration which then I can't run the game. Help please what did I do wrong?

I am trying to set up a virtual machine on a Dell Vostro 3560, using an activated version of Windows 7 Enterprise 64 Bit (SP1), but it will not pick up any updates. I am running the machine using 2/4 cores and providing 4GB/8GB for memory. I am also using the bridged adapter setting, to place the VM on my physical LAN. However, when I try to update, my VM will never find the updates, but search for them, without failing, for hours until stopped. My Windows tower is finding windows 10 updates just fine however. I am using the wireless card to connect the Host to my network. Perhaps someone here may be able to shed some light on the issue? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

After being on Linux Mint for a while now, I want to make it my main OS, but there are two things that just don't work in linux. Curse Voice and Smite. I have both of them "working" in a windows emulator, i say working because in the emulator i can't get my headset and mic to work, and i don't know how to get the virtual machine to recognize and utalize my GPU. so, how do i get the Virtual Machine, mint host-windows 8.1 guest, to recognize my speakers and mic, and how do i get Virtual machine to utalize my GPU. THanks

Hello. Alright so, dualbooting OS X requires specific hardware. And since I don't want to be limited to Gigabyte motherboards for maximum compatibility, specific Gigabyte motherboards even. Leads to dualbooting not being an option for me. So, on to my question. We all know you can run OS X on a Virtual Machine. But are there any downsides? Granted, the system will be slower, but will it be a significant amount?
