Hi, A friend of mine has left the red side for a 3090, and he is solding me his radeon VII for cheap. Since he was watercooling it and i won't, i need to replace the waterblock with the original radiator and fans, and doing so i'm replacing thermal paste and pads. I'm going with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut for the gpu/hbm, but not sure for the pads. Do you know wich one I should buy ? I can't find any info about thermal pads thickness for the Radeon VII. Thanks EDIT April 7th : Bought 1.5mm thermal pads from ThermalRight, works flawlessly

Hey there! I've got an Asus Maximus VII Formula paired with an i7 4790k and for some reason my motherboard wont always detect my SSD's. I've got a Samsung 850 Pro 128gb (my boot drive) and a Samsung 850 Evo 500gb. 70% of the time it detects them both. But theres a lot of times where it wont detect my boot drive, which causes it to change the boot order, which causes Bitlocker to ask for my huge unlock key, and theres also times where it wont detect the 850 Evo (my games drive). I've not yet had it where it wont detect both at the same time. Restarting the PC is all it takes to fix it, but that is annoying as shutting off the PC and turning it back on too quickly causes issues with my soundcard. Go figure. I know it has to be a motherboard issue because I used the 850 Evo in my other PC, which has a Biostar TA970 mobo, and it never had this issue. The 850 Pro has only been used with this motherboard and has always had this problem. It seems that all the HDD's are detected every time without issue. I also had this issue with an Intel SSD paired with this motherboard for a test, it had never had this issue before and has not since putting it back in my 2nd PC a few months back. I cant seem to figure out why the hell this board does this, but I must say it is one of the many issues I've had with this board and Asus is of no help. If anyone has any suggestions I'd be glad to hear them! Thanks!

So I have an Asus Maximus VII Ranger and I want to get a new M.2 Samsung 960 Evo. The problem is that my motherboard has an M.2 port but its limited at 10Gbit/s. That means 960 Evo's potential is wasted on my motherboard. I thought about getting an M.2 to PCI 3.0 x4 adapter (e.g. https://www.amazon.com/Lycom-DT-120-PCIe-Adapter-Support/dp/B00MYCQP38) to get the maximum speeds of the M.2. But I need to know if the M.2 will be bootable. Please help, I have been searching for days and found nothing. Thanks in advance!!

Can someone help me with a, at least two my knowledge, difficult choice: I want to build a pc mainly to get my schoolwork done (i'm studying architecture) but I'm also into programming and want to experiment with GAN neural networks, and game a little on the side (nothing too fancy) so what would be the best card for me? A 2080 super for broader compatibility or a Radeon VII for it's raw compute power and big 16gb VRAM (but isn't that good besides opencl and compute)

Hello guys, so I got myself a Radeon VII yesterday, and have been monitoring its temperature using AMD's monitoring software. BUT, Microsoft keeps popping up with these notifications. Yes, they probably represent the chip's Junction temp, as the one on AMD's monitoring software shows the Edge temp. How do I disable these notifications? if at all possible/recommended.

So, I've been looking for a new GPU to replace my R9 fury and I was really considering radeon VII however, the only one I was willing to buy was the sapphire branded card as it's the cheapest version of the card here in the UK at £650. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like that version of the card is gonna be back for at least the next month at this point. So I started looking at the RTX 2080 instead. On Amazon they have EVGAs RTX 2080 Black edition doing for £694 and a basic gigabyte windforce card for £689. I've got a £50 amazon voucher to use so I could get either of these cards for less that any radeon VII currently being sold. I was just wondering if getting the 2080 over radeon VII is worth it at the moment. Thanks in advance.

MAXIMUS VII RANGER NVMe Compatibility
omgitsdefault posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hello forum I need some help clarifying what kind of M.2 drives are compatible with my board, from what I can tell there are different types of M.2 PCI//SATA I'm not worried about getting the full speed but its just a step towards eliminating cables from my case. I was considering getting a Samsung 960/70 Evo? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-V-NAND-Express-Solid-State/dp/B07CGGNX7S/ref=pd_sbs_147_1?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07CGGNX7S&pd_rd_r=0c3ac01e-1acf-11e9-9f91-fdda01699348&pd_rd_w=ra2CD&pd_rd_wg=tY0e2&pf_rd_p=18edf98b-139a-41ee-bb40-d725dd59d1d3&pf_rd_r=FNDFFGCKKWBGB0Y2XMTC&psc=1&refRID=FNDFFGCKKWBGB0Y2XMTC Also using Bios Ver 2012 if thats an important factor. Can anyone shed some light? TIA. -
Hello! I’m Planning to go 4K by the end of the year and want to go AMD for my GPU; the Radeon VII. Currently I got plugged in is: i7-6700k (not OC’d yet), ASUS Prime Z270-a MoBo, EVGA 1070 SC2, 2x8 GB LED Corsair Ram, 250GB M.2, 2tb HDD, Kraken X 52 aio, 4 case fans (stock with NZXT H500i), 2 LED Strips. Would my EVGA 650Watt 80+ Gold power Supply be good enough for a Radeon VII?

So I've had my radeon VII card for just under a year now (brought it at launch) and recently I think it's developed a bit of an issue. My PC keeps randomly crashing during gameplay. Instances include stuff like sitting in a queue on overwatch, trying to play the Division 2 in DX12, and if I play any game for around an hour my PC just hard resets. All my drivers are up to date and I'm running the latest version of widows. Does anyone have any tips or tricks that I can use to diagnoses the exact issue, at the moment I've just been using windows event viewer and that all.

For anyone who may be seeing similar issues, I was unable to configure the RGB via Corsair iCUE for my Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro RAM (CMW16GX4M2C3200C16) on my Asus ROG Crosshair VII Hero (Wi-Fi) X470 Motherboard. After contacting both Asus and Corsair, it turns out Corsair are aware of the issue being due to the latest BIOS (v1103) for the motherboard. Corsair communication snippet below: I was able to fix this by reverting the BIOS version to v0804. Corsair iCUE immediately picked up the RAM on reboot and I was able to configure the RGB to my heart's desire! BIOS files for the motherboard in question can be found at: https://www.asus.com/uk/Motherboards/ROG-CROSSHAIR-VII-HERO-WI-FI/HelpDesk_BIOS/ I wonder what changed in the BIOS to cause this kind of issue? Was there some kind of security issue patched that iCUE was using to configure the RGB RAM? Does having RGB RAM and SPD Write enabled make your system more vulnerable?

Hello, English is not my main lenguage, so I will try to explain the best as I can. I bought a 1800x and a Crosshair hero vii. At first it worked great, I installed Windows and all that stuff, then, before trying to OC. I just try to update bios. When I used ezflash3 and the mobo try to read the file it freeze. After 30 min waiting I restarted it. I searched on internet, I try using the button on the up shield and the bios button, and I get a constant blue light, Wich means error, so, I clear the CMOS with the button, and update it. The updated workes, because it finished. But now I don't have video output and my CPU cooler is running at 100%. I don't know what to do, and I don't know what's happening. I pressed clear CMOS again, but I have no video output and also my cooler is running at %100. Please I need help!

So apparently this already happened twice. The first fix I did was reinstall the application. It was working fine but apparently for some reason it just stopped working. I was trying to configure my Firefox browser to direct its sound on the built-in speaker of the monitor while my game (MH World) is on the external speakers. Now I'm curious if there is a fix without reinstalling sonic studio and all the realtek drivers. My motherboard is: ROG Crosshair VII Hero (Non-Wifi). Here are the event logs from Windows Event Viewer: https://paste.ee/p/Whoxq

I am writing his thread to tell you that I have resolved the boot issue that I posted about a couple of days ago. The issue was that when i started up my computer about 1 in every 5 times I did it the computer would sit on the bios screen for sometimes upwards of 10 minutes and be completely unresponsive, but eventually booting in. To resolve this issue, I disconnected my SSD, posted the computer, shut it down, reconnected the SSD and booted back in. Now the computer actually boots significantly faster than it did before the problem occurred. Thank you for your time, I would greatly appreciate if you linked any other person with this problem to my thread.

Hello there, I was wondering what were the differences between the two motherboards listed above. What is the benefit of having each and which one is better from a gamer's perspective? If there is anyone knowledgeable enough, I would ask for an in-depth explanation and comparation of each board's features and benefits. The boards are: - Asus Maximus VII Hero - Asus Sabertooth Z97 Mark 1 Thanks in advance, Stonedfish.

I might have had some older threads on this, but I never got a decent answer. How good is the audio solution in the Maximus VII Formula?? Are the specs listed for the on-board audio of any decency? https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/MAXIMUS_VII_FORMULA/

I'm starting a new watercooled mini-ITX Build in the EVGA Hadron Hydro. And now my question is which of these mainboards I should use, I've read a lot of reviews and overall they seem pretty equal BUT there are a few reviews where the Z97 Stinger failed (corrupted BIOS, slow response, instability etc.). I would favour the Z97 Stinger since I want to stick to one brand and the Hadron Hydro would look better with all parts beeing from EVGA. Since I'll be OC'ing I would also like to hear some feedback from people who are using these boards. Thanks

Hi, my system blue screens every now and then. I was getting quite a bit of "unexpected power loss" due to Asus AI Suit III using "DipAwayMode.exe". I uninstalled AI suit. Same errors continued. I changed the PSU with brand new EVGA NEX650 Gold. Several hours later new error occurred: "The embedded controller (EC) did not respond within the specified timeout period. This may indicate that there is an error in the EC hardware or firmware or that the BIOS is accessing the EC incorrectly. You should check with your computer manufacturer for an upgraded BIOS. In some situations, this error may cause the computer to function incorrectly." Any clue what's going on. My windows 8.1 is fresh, and all drivers are up to date downloaded from ASUS website. I am running: i7 4790K stock clock Z97 Maximus Gene VII 2x8GB Gskill TridentX at 2400MHz (XMP enabled) Samsung 850 EVO 250GB for boot drive GTX 970 Gigabyte G1 EVGA NEX650 Gold Every single thing is water cooled. I stressed the system with Prime95, Aida64, Valley, Cinebench, Firestrike..... the maximum temp I could get is 50deg C when stressed beyond any typical gaming/rendering/processing intensive load. More interestingly it does not seem to be stress related issue, just happens randomly. All stress test so far successful Any suggestions? Thanks! BTW here's the beauty https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/b/nDVYcf

I didn’t use the pump to power my fans on the h100i, instead I opted to use my motherboard cpu fan and cpu opt headers. I like that I can control them from my motherboard bios as I didn’t really like Corsair Link. Everything is working well and I just attached the “pump monitor” to a chassis fan header to monitor the pump. I also have set a overheat protection temp with core temp. Is this okay? Should I go back and change the fans over to the pump? Also, Link states that my pump is running around 2250 rpm and my chassis fan header says 2350. So I thought that was kind of weird if anyone can relate. Here is my completed build. http://pcpartpicker.com/b/nfjcCJ

Hello people I am soon going to build a PC, but i cant figure out what motherboard i want. I cant afford an X99 Motherboard, and i am currently standing between the MSI Gaming 5 motherboard and the Asus Maximus VII Hero motherboard. The MSI is somewhat cheaper, but is it worth it? Is the Asus better, and is the extra money worth spending? Please help me Thanks
