  1. Budget (including currency): 130K INR (about $1500 USD) Country: India Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Deeplearning, Training Neural Networks, Video rendering,3D rendering , Minecraft, CS:GO, and general stuff Other details My PC will run Windows 11 as it's OS. I chose some parts for my build. Please check this out at https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ZPTJ28 I chose Intel i7 for it was under my budget and a decent CPU for my workload. The main for my workload is GPU, so I chose GeForce RTX 3060 as it has some good amount of CUDA cores along with 12GB VRAM. I am going to use a 4k monitor though display resoulutions don't matter for me. Please suggest changes required.
  2. LTT Forum, When recently beginning to work with more 4k footage from a Panasonic gh4 render times increased greatly (1.1hrs for 45 minutes). I work in the studio version of Davinci Resolve and since the program is rooted in multithread performance I am wondering what would be a logical upgrade from my current system/ Ryzen 5 2600 (Msi b450 motherboard), 32 gigs (ddr4 3200), and an RX 570 from Phanteks. I was thinking about upgrading to a ryzen 7 3700x but the benchmarks from Puget Systems deterred me from it due to the processor only making a minor improvement. if your wondering about the benchmarks : https://www.pugetsystems.com/recommended/Recommended-Systems-for-DaVinci-Resolve-187/Hardware-Recommendations What processor would you all recommend?
  3. Budget (including currency): ~2500 AUD Country: Australia Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: RTX minecraft Video Editing Streaming MC 3D model rendering in blender Running 2-3 screen recordings of 2-3 Minecraft game sessions at once(not using RTX) Running complex math formulas in MC large storage Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I have been looking for a while and come to realise theres a lot I don't know. Video rendering and Minecraft Java both work on the CPU. RTX is graphics card I'm changing from a macbook (where i have written mods and code for minecraft for the new PC build to run) I have been told to look at https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/ready-to-run-pcs/gaming-pc/88494-ss-sentry3060 with upgraded ram, this could be a start but I cant tell if its upgradeable in the future I have been told to look at https://www.pccasegear.com/products/54176/pccg-hellfire-6700-xt-gaming-system but another site said this isn't going to be a good deal there was also this suggestion https://techfast.com.au/products/AMD-Ryzen-5-5600X-RTX-3070-8GB-Gaming-PC-May?utm_source=ozbargain&utm_medium=deal&utm_campaign=5600X-3070-MAY I am looking for something that doesn't break the bank (i can go over 2500) and it doesn't need to be a pre-build but thats the only advice I have been given The essentials are running Minecraft at a high-end, this means running shaders (ill be testing shaders i work on), while recording and streaming. I don't know much about refresh rate etc as the macbook was a macbook and I didn't need to think about anything like that since there was no point because its a macbook and nothing can change in it
  4. Budget (including currency): $2000 to $3000 Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: DVD video upscaling and burning to hard drives. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): This is would be my second pc build ever. I was able to grab myself a 3070 in January, but I'm still a novice in terms of knowing exactly what all of the terms like VRAM mean. However, my dad who runs a small business converting VHS tapes to something digital like MP4 files, needs a new computer. Recently conversion jobs that should have taken 30 minutes have been stretched out to over 4 hours. I believe that the internal drives on the computer are just giving out after 8 years of constant re-writing. He still uses an old computer because it still has a DVD drive, and a newer or faster one would be great to have in the new build. Anyway, he gave me a budget of $2000, but if we need to we can spend $3000. I also just happen to have an extra Ryzen 5 3600 that's brand new so if I could utilize it. That would be great.
  5. Hello, I've been working and editing videos for a while now, and was wondering what should I use to render videos GPU or CPU? Right now it's set to default - CPU rendering I guess, since CPU goes 100% when I'm rendering a video. But I'm not sure if it's good for my CPU or PC overall. I have heard that if you don't do it right, then video rendering can damage your PC. Setup > CPU: I3-8350K GPU: GTX 1660 Super Thanks in advanced!
  6. As the title states, the past 3 weeks or so, my render times have increased by a good amount in Premiere Pro and I have no idea why. The only thing I changed was installing an Elgato 4K60 PRO (PCIe 4.0 slot. 2nd slot on my Asus X570 Wifi Motherboard). Rendering a video in 1080/60 that was about 60 minutes in length, would take 30 minutes. Now something like that is taking closer to 45 minutes. What's stranger, is when I start the render the estimated time will say what's normal but then the time goes up AND as the % goes up, the estimate hovers around the same number for a while. I have about 24/30gb of RAM allocated to Premiere Pro. It's using both CPU and GPU to render. I don't get it. I even bought a new Cooler for my PC thinking it was a heating issue. Hopefully someone has some idea of what to do, I'm going crazy trying to figure it out. PC Specs: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3800x Cooler: Noctua D15 32GB RAM GPU: GTX 1060 6GB M.2 NVMe SSD 500GB for OS and programs Standard HDD for storage Motherboard: Asus Tuf Gaming x570 Wifi
  7. Hii people.. I think I'm having some issues with my system... When I was exporting a 1080p video in Premiere Pro CC 2020, it was taking a little bit longer than I expected.. Well a 300 MB Video is taking almost 20 mins in Exporting...(with the setting of H.264 , YouTube 1080p HD preset, bit rate 16-40) Is it normal ? Also the timeline rendering was't that impressive maybe it's because of my GPU, I'm using Nvidia GeForce GT1030 2GB DDR5..(will upgrade this later) Please help me out.. I'm very new to video editing.. Thanks in advance!
  8. I am planing to start a new Youtube channel and therefore upgrading my current PCs GPU and i would have gone with the RX 480, because its price/performance-ratio is about as good as it gets in my country and because i wanna play some games at 1080p. But after i did some research online i saw that some programs (like Blender) benefit from Nvidias CUDA acceleration but i couldn't find any current numbers. As of right now I might pick up a GTX 1060 instead, but I'm not to sure because its price/performance-ratio is not as good as AMDs RX 480. Has anyone experience with editing/rendering on AMD/Nvidia GPUs and can help me out? Im also not to sure how important the amount of VRAM is for editing/rendering: 1060 (3gb vs 6gb), 480 (4gb vs 8gb).
  9. So I am building a second PC, and want a decent CPU/motherboard that can play next year's triple-A games. But I have some weird requirements. I currently have a Z97 mobo with an i5 4690k CPU. I am building a second PC, and I want it to have a nice CPU, but I don't want to get anything better than my (kinda) "beasty" current rig. I guess it's just out of my comfort zone, because I don't want to belittle my current PC which I love very much. So I have a few options. Get another Z97/LGA1150 motherboard, which I feel comfortable with, or go for a Z170 because it's newer and upgradable. Which should I go with? Z170 route: If I'm correct, Skylake are the only CPUs that can go in Z170 boards? If so, are my options simply the i5 6600k and i7 6700k, or are there some more affordable Skylake CPUs? Z97 route: Which compatible CPU should I get? Are there any CPUs that are less or equal to the 4690k, but still run games fine? Thanks in advance everyone, I appreciate how much feedback I receive from this community!
  10. Intel said the new Kaby Lake generation is a beast for video encoding and decoding! Is it true? When going to a computer store and you ask them if you could render and edit 4k videos on an Ultrabook. All of them would probably tell you to get a real laptop with dedicated graphics. Since Kaby Lake however, this changed and I didn’t believe it myself before trying it. One big secret for onboard video rendering is probably the newest Iris P640 generation. So you need at least an i7-7560U or i7-7660U, I believe most of that render speed comes from the Iris Pro CPUs. In this following video I show you my results on my DELL XPS 13 with an i7-7560U. I edited and rendered a 4 minutes and 41 seconds long 5K video for my school. Surprisingly the rendering process goes much faster or almost the same compared to my 6700K Skylake processor and NVIDIA GTX970 in my desktop machine. The CPU usage was at a constant 100% and kept its speed at 2.8GHz. I was rendering in low power mode with no power cable connected. This doesn’t mean the i7-7560U is a power horse for gaming! Hell its a 15watts low power CPU! Most new AAA titles are barely playable at lowest settings. However, for my workload and video editing needs this Ultrabook proofed to be worth it. I choose the XPS 13 because of better thermal temperatures compared to the HP x360. (Please consider my native language is not English! Thank You!)
  11. So I've seen a lot of videos, where programs like Sony Vegas support GPU rendering, especially with CUDA cores. Nvidia Cards. You can't render videos fully on your GPU with something like a Radeon 6990? I mean all that power, and you can't use it for video rendering? Or did I misunderstand? -What else besides gaming, can you use a card like this for, to put it to good use. (Except Bitcoin mining).
  12. Greetings, everyone! Today I was going to buy the following computer for 650€ - CPU: Intel Core i5-6500 3.20GHz Quad-Core Processor - Motherboard: B150M LGA1151 - RAM: 16GB DDR4 2400Mhz - HDD: 1Tb 7200rpm SATA 3 - GPU: GTX 750Ti 2GB GDDR5 - Case: Nox Hummer MC Zero Edition - Power Supply: Tacens Mars Gaming MP600 600W However, a friend stopped me from doing it because he said he could build a better one for a cheaper price and this came out for 625€ - CPU: Intel Core i3-6100 3.7GHz Dual-Core Processor - Motherboard: MSI H110M ECO Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard - Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury Black 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-2133 Memory - HDD: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive - GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 1060 3GB 3GB ARMOR OCV1 Video Card - Case: NOX Hummer MC Zero Edition ATX Mid Tower Case - Power Supply: SeaSonic S12II 430W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply Now, my budget is at 650€ at the moment. I want to use the computer for gaming recording and video editing at 1080p. I'm not sure if I'll be playing demanding games like Witcher 3 or Battlefield 1, though I am a bit curious about these. I'll be recording some PS1 games as well as a bunch of different PC games. I'm a bit iffy about getting the i3 as the i5 would do much better regarding rendering times, however if I were to get an i5 with the 1060, I'd need to spend 710€ instead of 625€ which is a bit difficult for me. I'm planning on rendering two videos per day and will be using Adobe Premiere. My question is: How long would an i3-6100 take to render 15 minutes 1080p videos in comparision with a i5-6500? Also, is there a huge difference from 8GB to 16GB for rendering these same videos? Thank you in advance, - Nervly
  13. I am building PC for video recording, editing and rendering. I am running youtube channel and in process I am recording a lot of footage using vlc player(video footage comes from twitch streams). I am editing videos in PowerDirector(before you say something - this is the fastest rendering software out there and speed is everything if you need to create around 40 videos per day) . Right now I am creating content in 1080p since no esport event is streamed in 4k, but that can change in future. I will use it mainly for work, but I figure it will be ok for games as well. I am looking to put together these parts http://pcpartpicker.com/list/V9tnd6 Right now I am using CPU i7 3770 MB: something that supports my old CPU RAM: 16GB GPU : Radeon 7800 series with 2Gb memory PSU: Old Corsair 650/700W one My biggest struggle is with the CPU, is the 6900K that much better than 6700K? How big would be the difference in rendering times? How much VGA impacts the rendering times? Will better VGA give me faster rendering times? At the moment one 10 minute video clip is rendering 6-7 minutes. Would it be possible to get those numbers down to 3-4 minutes? I want to put together system that I will be able to use 3-5 years.
  14. Guys I need education. I work in I.T. for a state government. We're old school, and won't buy anything with the 'gaming' moniker. We're in need of some enthusiast/extreme systems. Minimum specs for the software we're looking at are 6900K/GTX 1080/64gig/512SSD/6TB HDD. Yes, those are minimum. Their recommended, I'm not even going to mention here and it's overkill for the product anyways. We're budget conscience because it's tax payer dollars we're spending. So here's our dilemma. We need 5 workstations, we need to buy via lowest bidder, we can't buy used, we can't buy parts and build in house (i would totally do this if i could), we can't buy anything labeled as gaming, or anything that looks like gaming (i.e. RGB, side windows, fancy cases, water cooling). We can't buy a Dell Alienware Area 51 basically. It's too 'gaming' but would TOTALLY meet the specs. Besides boutique custom build companies like Maingear, iBuypower, Titansystems etc, I don't know who else makes systems of this level but with a business/government look. When we purchase out of contract, we require at least 3 bids (normally 5), so once again another hurdle. If anyone knows of 3-5 companies that build super HEDT's for businesses that aren't targeted at gaming please, please, please can you give me their names? PS, we're trying to actually save tax dollars and not buy Dell's recommended $12,000+ dual Xeon/64gig ECC system that actually is a lower performing workstation, and a complete rip-off imho. And unfortunately, it's a Windows only software suite, so no MAC Pros. Thanks
  15. Hello Linus Tech Tips Community CPU: Threadripper 1950X GPU: GTX 970 Software Only or GPU Acceleration, and why? My guess is Software, but I'm having a hard time finding a detailed answer as to which is better in which scenario. Thanks in advance.
  16. Hello guys I'm new here. I'm planning to build a PC for mostly Video rendering on Premiere pro, After effects and also some 3d mapping stuff that I'm planning to do with my drones. I have a budget of about $2500 and can probably stretch that to $3000 if necessary. Can the more experienced people in here suggest some builds? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
  17. Hi there, I have two PC's one with a i7-6800k and a Ryzen 5 1600x however I'm replacing my 6800k for a Ryzen 9 3900x for my gaming PC but when I'm using my gaming PC and need to render a video I use my secondary PC in the meantime however I don't know what will give me the best video rendering performance between the 6800k or 1600x as the 6800k is still quite a solid CPU. Any suggestions would be appreciated? Also I use the 3900x as my main rendering PC for 3D renders as well as video rendering I don't just use it to play games.
  18. So I'm currently a fledgling content creator for YouTube/Twitch live streamer and recently I've found that my current setup is drastically hindering my ability to improve my content and learn new skills with my choice of video editing software (currently Sony Vegas 14) . Right now I'm only using a single pc with the following specs: Ryzen 7 2700x EVGA RTX 2070 XC Ultra 32gb Trident Z 3200 kHz 1000w Panteks Revolt X Asus Prime x470-Pro Enough storage to choke a horse + a nas ------------------------------------------------------ The goal here is to keep a single Pc if possible, but I'm fully prepared to move to dual pc if necessary. ----------------------------------------------------- Current gameplan: Update bios on motherboard and upgrade to Ryzen 9 3990 If I cant push the quality of my stream while gaming from the same machine with that hardware: Get an itx board and use the 2700x + 2070 to game on and use a cheap 580 nitro I have with the 3990 for rendering the stream/YouTube production/ etc. Sound like a decent plan? Would the revolv x have enough power to drive all of the listed hardware plus 2 webcams + mouse/keyboard + capture card if I were to build both systems in my evolv x case?
  19. Would the RTX 2080 be a lot more better on rendering 1080p videos than the GTX 1080 and if so, would two GTX 1080 work better than the RTX 2080 on rendering videos?
  20. There are talks and even videos in youtube, how ex Adobe premier users switched to DaVinci Resolve video editor. Some said it have better hardware utilization, that's mean, it can use more Cpu Threads and also more stable GPU acceleratior, which shorten video rendering. So it would be interesting if Linus team would check it out.. Is that's realy the case.. Cuz I also have seen videos where advanced Adobe Premier assured that high Thread Count will not speed up rendering on adobe. And it's not much worth to upgrade your Cpu to higher Core/Thread Count..
  21. Greetings! I'm thinking of building a video editing computer, in which I'm still not sure of what CPU to use. I've looked into several benchmarks and there's a bit of a difference between the 5820k and the 5960X but I'm not sure if the 5960X would actually be worth the extra money. I'm not going to record or upload anything in 4K. My videos are usually around 15-20 minutes long at 1080p and in my current laptop, using Sony Vegas, it takes around 3 to 4 hours to render one video alone. With this new build I'm planning on getting, I'll be using Adobe Premiere, After Effects and Photoshop. I'd like to know which CPU would be the best choice in this case, considering I'll keep on rendering 15-20 minutes long videos at 1080p, and how long it'd take for each processor to render one video. Something around the 30 minutes would be perfect already, if it'd take less, even better. Also, considering I won't be rendering anything at 4K, which would be the best choice for a Graphics Card? Should I go for a 980, Titan X or 1080 anyway, or would a 970 be enough? I'd also like to know if it is recommended to overclock any of these CPUs and if so, up to how many GHz? I've never done overclocking before. This brings another question: Is it a good idea to have two separate computers, one for gaming and recording and the other for video editing (using the aforementioned software) alone? Because I'm also torn between having two separate computers or only one where I'd do everything in. This is mainly because of another question about CPUs: i7-5820k vs i7-5960X vs i7-6700k. Since apparently the latter is the best one for gaming but the two first ones are best for editing and rendering, I don't know which one I'd choose if I were to build a single computer for all these tasks. I feel like in one hand it'd be good to have separate computers, it'd mean more storage exclusively for raw files and rendered videos (Ill be using 2 SSDs and 1 HDD) and it'd also have more free space which wouldn't slow it down. Plus, while it rendered, I could keep using my other computer. If I have everything in one, I'd probably need more space, rendering could take more time, it could slow down a bit more the computer and it might not allow me to do alot while it renders the video. Then again, I could be speaking utter garbage, as I never owned a powerful computer and I don't know its true limits. I'll also be using 16GB DDR4-2400 (4x4GB on the 5820k/2960X and 2x8GB on the 6700k). As for a motherboard, should I go for a Asus X99-A? TL;DR - Rendering 15-20 minutes long 1080p videos, how long would it take using a 5820k and a 5960X? Is the latter worth the extra money? Should I OC any of them? And should I have two separate PCs, one for gaming and one for editing? Which CPU should I choose in that case? Should I use a Asus X99-A Motherboard? Thanks in advance!
  22. Hi, I'm having a problem where the current version of Adobe Media Encoder CC refuses to utilize my EVGA GTX970 FTW graphics card to encode/render footage. I have it set to use Cuda and I know that Media Encoder should be able to use a GTX970, because Ed used one when testing GPUs in their render machine. When rendering, my GPU usage sits at about 0.5-3% and my CPU peaks. I have no idea why it's not working. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. In case it's relevant, here's my setup. 23. Hello! I was planning to help my friend to build a PC, but have no experience of building one whatsoever. What i do know however is some basic knowledge of how a PC works, the function of each PC parts, and what he wants to use the PC for. He wanted to use his PC for game recording (Something like GTA V, Dead By Daylight, No Man Sky) in 1080P 60FPS and editing + rendering videos. His currently has no budget for his PC but he did send me a picture of what he wants for his PC in which i thought the parts used in it was unnecessary and the price of it was too expensive. I then proceed to create a list of PC parts myself and ended up with this http://pcpartpicker.com/list/kr3wcc which i don't know if it's good enough and need help to know that if it is good enough to run games in 1080P 60FPS or it can be any cheaper while still being able to play while recording at 1080P 60FPS. I would suggest a budget around RM 2500 - RM3300 or USD 600 - USD 800 Oh yeah, I live in Malaysia and pls forgive me if my English is bad...... *For some reason you can't see the picture so I'll just list the specs of the massively overpriced pc and it's price Case: ORIGIN Chronos Exterior: Not Painted Current Special Offers: Everything You Need for Work and Play Promo DT The ORIGIN Difference: ORIGIN PC Chronos - The Best Gaming Experience Guaranteed Case Fans: ORIGIN PC High-Performance Ultra Slim Fan Power Supply: 450 Watt Corsair SFX Series Motherboard: ASUS Z170I Pro Gaming System Cooling: ORIGIN FROSTBYTE 120 Sealed Liquid Cooling System for 1151 Socket Processors: Intel Core i5 6500 Quad-Core 3.2GHz (3.6GHz TurboBoost) Graphic Cards: Single 2GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950 Memory: 8GB ORIGIN PC DDR4 Powered by Kingston 2666MHz (2 X 4GB) Operating System: MS Windows 10 Home Hard Drive One (Operating System Drive #1): FREE 250GB Samsung 750 EVO Series Storage Drive Two: None Audio: On Board High Definition 8-Channel Audio Networking: Onboard Network Port Warranty: Lifetime 24/7 U.S. Based Support and Lifetime Free Labor. 1 Year Part Replacement & 45 Day Shipping Warranty ORIGIN Recovery: ORIGIN Recovery USB3.0 Flash Drive Evolve Part Upgrade Service: No Part Upgrade Service Free ORIGIN PC T-shirt: ORIGIN PC T-Shirt Extra Large Web Browser: Microsoft Internet Explorer/*Edge Price: 1,318 USD
  24. Hey all, So i want to build a low cost, but **decent** video rendering rig so I don't have to use my gaming rig with all its processes slowing it down. What would be a good layout of parts? I was thinking of going for AMD because they're cheaper and run well. For the GPU, if I did a crossfire configuration of various GTX 600 (or below 600 if it'll perform ok) series could that work for rendering? I have a 128GB SSD and a 400Gb HDD. I was thinking about getting 12 to 16GB or ram if I can get it for a good price. Power supply will be the last thing I plan, for I don't know how big of one I'll need yet. Any advice is useful. Thanks!
  25. Hi guys, Really happy to finally join LinusTechTips community! So when I build my PC, I went with a i5 3330 processor which I felt was sufficient for my workload which mostly includes coding, graphic designing, photo editing (RAW) and occasional video editing. Now it's going to be about 2 years, and I feel sometimes the processor is reaching it's limits. Video rendering is obviously slow and sometimes programs that I use (Photoshop, Illustrator, PhpStorm, etc.) easily make the CPU hit 100%. So I have finally decided to upgrade the CPU, hence I wanted to reach out and get some advice on what will be the best way (and probably affordable way) to go. I will really appreciate if you guys can help me on this. The main questions that I am confused with are: 1. Can I upgrade to a i7 processor in the same socket type (LGA1155 socket) so I don't need to replace the motherboard and other parts? 2. If Yes, what which processor should I go for, that give an optimal performance and doesn't go out of budget? 3. If No, which parts will need to be changed while upgrading the CPU? I only require to edit Videos in HD (not Full HD) and use Premiere Pro and After Effects are the programs I use. I also have a graphics card installed (Nvidia 750Ti) but I think it's not much used while editing and rendering. I will really appreciate your suggestions and advice on this. Feel free to let me know if more details are needed from me. Thanks in advance.
