  1. Hi all, After viewing Taran's 2 massive video editing Premiere tutorials and his use of macros, I wanted to ask if anyone has ever automated their workflow in either Premiere Pro and Davinci Resolve (the 2 platforms I plan on using). I know there is some automation with some smaller and open source video applications, but is there any chance of automation with these two major commercial editing programs? Best, Eric
  2. My GeForce TITAN Black just died on me and i am currently in the market for a mid-range GPU for Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop and mostly Premiere Pro, 4k editing, minor graphics using AE. Doing lots of color grading and a run through of effects creating glitches and such. Can anyone recommend a GPU that would provide me a smooth and efficient workflow using Adobe software. Thank you, My current build is: Intel Core I7-5960X 3.50GHZ ASUS ASUS X99-E WS LGA2011 Corsair Professional Series HX1050
  3. I'm not switching... I'm keeping both. Premiere Pro for me and DaVinci for my brother. Just one question... what's the difference? Along with the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema 4K, inside the box includes a free product activation key for DaVinci. I've been a Premiere Pro user for years and I'm curious to know what differences it makes for the editing experience overall. I know that DaVinci is a little heavy on performance so my specifications are updated on my profile in case you need it. - The user interface at first glance seems very friendly compared to Premiere. - Color grading is a breeze on DaVinci. - Uses a little more GPU, RAM, etc. - You only have to pay one-time only... I think. So is DaVinci worth it? Anything else to add to these points would be bliss. Thanks guys!
  4. Hey! I do 3D Modeling/Rendering as well as Video Editing at 1080p60. I'd like to upgrade my storage as I currently only have one SSD for my OS and a 1TB HDD. My budget is ~200€ I'm torn between these two SSDs, the Sabrent is a Gen4 SSD (I've got a PCIe 4.0 Motherboard) while the Samsung is Gen3 and from what I've seen the former has faster read/write speeds but I also don't know the brand. How do these two compare to each other? Is there a better different option you'd recommend? Sabrent SSD Samsung SSD Thanks!
  5. Location: Australia Budget: AUD $2,000 (+/- $200 only if significant performance boost), roughly $1500 USD. Aim: must handle 4k DSLR footage smoothly and render h.264 1080HD videos quickly. Programs: Adobe Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator). OS: Windows OS. Other details: I don't plan on playing games, apart from Minecraft and the occasional OpenEmu retro game. This will be my first PC build. Why I'm upgrading: I work in digital media, mostly graphic design and use a MacBook Pro 2013. Now due to the pandemic, I'm working from home and businesses are prioritising video content. Most of my work for the foreseeable future will be video editing and obviously my current setup is not having a good time, working with 4k DSLR footage and exporting at 1080HD. I already have the necessary peripherals so they're not included in the budget, I'm using a single 1080HD monitor. What parts do you recommend for my build? From what I understand, I need a strong CPU, GPU and 32GB RAM given I'm working with Premiere Pro and After Effects. As this is my first time building a PC, I would really appreciate some help maximising my budget.
  6. Am a little bit new to this Video Editing , Should i put all videos with vegas on SSD or either vegas or the videos ? how do i put the SSD to some use.
  7. I'm looking for a Windows laptop powered by AMD W/ 16 GB of RAM that can handle moderate video editing. I'm looking for something in the 15 to 17 inch range. Touch screen would be a huge plus, but not a deal-breaker. Ideally want something with the ability to do graphic intensive work for at least 4 hours on the battery at least 6hrs for office work, web browsing, and video streaming. The option of USBC charging would be fantastic for portability reasons. As a daily driver I will need a webcam. MUST WEIGH NO MORE THAN 5.5 POUNDS. full disclosure I probably would get a MacBook Pro if I did not have so many movies through Microsoft and knew for sure Dragon speech recognition software worked well on MacOS.
  8. Budget (including currency): 1800dollar (around 140000 INR) Country: India Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly After Effects and Video Editing Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Hey, So I am a motion designer based in India and need help for the upcoming PC build. I do had taken few reference from Puget systems. Based on that I do had developed a system have a look. How I really use the PC? I do have heavy work on motion graphics done on after effects and lots of its scripts and extensions. There is no 3D element been imported from cinema 4D but use 3d camera and so. There are tons of shape layers. I dont do any vfx things. I do care scrubbing and caching should be fast. Then Premiere. I dont even put a single effect. Even a simple scale animation is done in After Effects. I think best way I would describe my Premiere use is to assemble the different animation into a complete video. Then comes audition which is used for changing a lot in sounds. Also I do open both after effects and premiere at the same time. And also quite many chrome tabs (sometimes chrome eats more ram then those software LOL.) And I dont care for gaming and neither too much fancy lighting except the front of the case Cabinet : Corsair 465x RGB (Moslty due to availabelity of installing 7 fan and look. Also I already using Icue for keyboard it helps in lighting effects easily) Processor : AMD ryzen 7 3700x. Puget System told processor with high clock speed is important. Q1. Should I get 3800x? I check review and comparison I feel that its like 6-8% boost. Q2. Should I overclock whatever the CPU I purchased? I dont know anything much on overclocking and havent done in past. Motherboard : MSI X570-A PRO (Cheapest 570 motherboard I find. I dont need any fancy gaming feature and neither wifi also need many USB ports for my different pheripherals) Graphics Card : Geforce GTX 1660 OC 6gb (Puget System told graphics card wont significantly Improve the performance also raytracing wont help after effects so I dont feel to invest in that area). Q3. I also use premiere for editing. But even my slight animation is done on After effects. And just use premiere to assemble the video and dont apply any effects. Is this graphics card is fine? SMPS : Cooler Master Bronze semi modular 750w Storage : Storage 1 : 500 gb 860evo 2.5 (OS and software) Storage 2 : 500 gb 860evo 2.5 (media and scratch) Storage 1 : 250 gb 860evo 2.5 (seperate scratch OPTIONAL or later upgrade) I dont need hard drive as I already own it. This idea is still came from puget system. Q4. Should I go with NVMe for scratch? Q5. Should I have seperate scratch drive? Q6. I thought to get 1 tb of 860evo as its just a little costlier than 500gb and use that as OS, software and media drive? Ram: Corsair 64gb ddr4 3000mhzvengeance (again puget recommed 64gb) Liquid Cooler : Corsair H100i Pro Rgb Q7. Is this is enough to cool even if I learned about overclocking and do it in future? Q8. Please tell me should I need amp or not? I do use lot of music in the tracks. Dont produce my own its from music subscription service. But do need to change a lot in effects. Q9. Do I need the thermal paste for liquid cooler? Q10. Should I go with Cooler Master Master Air MA621P TR4 Edition instead of liquid cooler? Please mention the changes, tips and guide and help in whatever way possible. Thanks
  9. i'm thinking about starting a youtube channel and i'm looking for something for beginners. I dont mind paying at all, just looking for some suggestions as i haven't really edited anything since high school. Also I'm using windows.
  10. Hey everyone I've been using a free Premiere Plugin called Daniel2 for a year now, and it pretty much doubled the speed for most of my renders. Apparently it's not very well known, so thought I might drop in here, you can try it out for yourself to see how much of a difference it makes for you. You can find it on Adobe Exchange or here https://daniel2.com/ I'm not exactly sure how it works, but it uses the GPU, and is somehow 1.5-2x faster than it's closest rival, which again alot of people don't know about, which is called Voukoder. There's a couple videos on youtube about both, but nothing extensive, so just try it, maybe post your result, and give others the gift of faster renders.
  11. THE ISSUE 1) I can't play a few games on my PC as they do not meet the minimum requirements (one example Universe Sandbox which usually crashes after 15min - See requirements for this game at Steam if you desire). Also note I do not alter settings and leave my games at their default settings. 2) Well doing screen recordings for YouTube I often find that the video has massive lag issues. This lag is less if I have less stuff opened. An example of a typical recording would be: OBS (video capture, windows capture, etc.), A browser (usually Fire Fox) with 4 or more tabs open ranging from articles or a YouTube video. I don't notice the lag during the recording and only find it out when done and I'm checking the video for basic issues (audio sync, etc.). CURRENT BUILD 1) Case - NZXT Phantom 43.0 Full Tower https://www.nzxt.com/products/phantom-white 2) Motherboard - AsRock FM2A78M-HD+ https://www.newegg.com/asrock-fm2a78m-hd/p/N82E16813157482 3) Processor - AMD A10-5800K APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics, 4200 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s) 4) Ram - 12gb DDR3 Team Group Inc. (Total Physical ram 10.9; Available Physical Memory 6.09 GB; Total Virtual Memory 12.6 GB; Available Virtual Memory 6.94 GB) 5) Hard Drive - WDC WD20EADS-00S2B0 2tb (Capacity: 1.8 TB; Formatted: 1.8 TB) 6) Power Supply - LEPA N500 (https://www.newegg.com/lepa-n-series-n500-sa-500w/p/N82E16817494002) My THOUGHTS & BUDGET I'm looking to upgrade either the whole PC ($800-$900 USD budget, but using the same tower to save some money) or upgrade the Processor and switch the hard drive to a 2tb SSD ($400-$600 USD budget). Of course the question than become would just upgrading the processor and hard drive make much of a difference or should I bite the bullet and upgrade all or most parts in my current PC. I watched a few videos from LinusTech on budget builds under $800 for 2020, but some of the parts are not longer in stock. And I've had issues searching for processor compatible with my 6 year old mother board. Any advice or tips would be nice. PC HISTORY I bought this PC from a eBay seller (who has since been kicked off eBay & Paypal for fraudulent activity); yes lesson learned. It was a gift to myself when graduated from college. It was purchased for about $875.
  12. Hi! I in progress of selecting parts for new workstation it needs to be capable of handling editing in 8k. The problem is i need to work on DaVinci Resolve (gpu heavy) and Avid Media Composer (cpu heavy). Question is should i go with workstation from dell, lenovo, or other brands, which would had good cpu for Avid but has quadro cards or go with some custom build? I know that recommended cards for DaVinci are RTX, but i don't know is it due to better prices or better performance. So to be clear I'm not sure which components are important for which program. Could some edit masters with knowledge help me? #stayhome
  13. Does anyone have ANY clue what this guy is using to make his videos this smooth? I've tried my damndest to get my videos to look like this and cannot for the life of me. I record at 60 fps and render out to 60 fps but cannot achieve anything similar. I FEEL or think it is motion blur but I'm really not sure. I record and render/upload at 60FPS 1440p but if you watch the video it is almost like it has motion blur added too it. I've tried a ton of things and can't get anything close. I normally record on OBS with CQP at 15 and edit in After Effects and then render it out with a bitrate of 50 CBR through media encoder. I know this probably isn't the best place to ask but honestly I'm going to lose my mind if I don't ask others for help. x.x Here is the video in question I would contact him but he's currently in the Korean military until near the end of the year. So far I've tried the base motion blur option in AE, CC Force Motion Blur in AE, smart resample in Vegas, recording at a higher frame rate (120 to 240 fps to match my monitors refresh rate as I read this would make it replicate this "smoothness") and then trying both those options again, RSMB, Twixtor and I just cannot find how this video looks THIS smooth. If he used RSMB or Twixtor there would be warping but as far as I can see there isn't any at all. Any help or nudge in the right direction is greatly appreciated!
  14. So, I have a relative who is a choir director, and in this current time, they want to make a choir video of their students singing. They came to me (me being the family tech support) and said hey, can you put together about 30 clips in one video. I'm not the most experienced user of Premiere Pro, so I have no idea if this is even possible. Also, they said they would be willing to upgrade my PC to do this. I don't exactly have the most powerful rig. Tl;DR, I need to put 30 videos split screen into one video and I need to find a budget (but solid) rig to do it with. I already have a mATX rig, so mATX boards are appreciated if you would like to recommend a config. Mainly upgrades would just be CPU, MOBO, and GPU. Questions for people who REALLY don't want to read: 1: Can I combine 30 videos into one split screen video? 2: What kind of budget rig would do that? Thanks!
  15. I can't seem to extend animated text past a certain point because of that little bugger, is there any way to remove it or is it a limit by the program?
  16. Hi, I was thinking about building a PC for occasional video editing purpose. The software I am going to use is Adobe XD, Premiere, After Effects, Animate And Most important thing is Google Chrome. This pc will be used for Video editing (weekly 1-2 hours) and Regular Browsing. I don't think I can afford a new intel cpu or rizen. Was thinking about i7-3770k or i7-4770k or AMD fx 8350( 2nd hand ) My budget for the Processor is at most $150 and for gpu is $100 ( If possible I don't want to spend on gpu) Looking for at least 16 gigs of ram ( I am not sure if I need 16 gigs but I think My Chrome need this) Is old eight core xeons (from aliexpress) reliable for desktops ? Please help me on this if possible.
  17. Can anyone help me to build a cheap rig or suggest something, that can play roblox or league of legends(not triple A games), and can record it and while playing it and then can edit videos, or stream gaming..... Thanks to all.
  18. I'm a first-time builder looking for advice and opinions on the parts I've chosen. I'm currently working on building a desktop PC that will primarily be used for gaming, live-streaming, and video editing. I want to be able to live-stream at 1080p at 60fps while making full use of programs, and plan to edit video footage starting at 1080p but potentially moving up in resolution in the future to as much as 4k. I also want to have the capability to do 3D modeling and design work in the future, as that's something I have interest in doing. I have two old office-type 1080p monitors at the moment, but I'd like to upgrade one of them in the future to a higher-refresh 1440p or above monitor. My total budget for this build is about $1,300 USD; this is about the highest I can justify going at the moment. My ideal aesthetic is monochrome black and white with few highlights. I believe I've covered everything I'll need below, but if there may be cables or items I haven't considered. I'm really just looking to make sure everything I have will go together well and work before I buy. As I don't yet have the experience to know a lot of this stuff on my own, I'm hoping to find help here. If anyone has revisions they think would be more optimal for my core parts or information I might not know, please let me know! Any help would be appreciated. ? Here's what I have so far (pcpartpicker list here): For my CPU, I've chosen the Ryzen 7 3700X. From my research, it seems to provide more than enough power for anything I'd regularly throw at it while still having enough in reserve for multitasking and running future programs. It's a recent and very well-rounded chip that lies at the threshold of my budget. CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X (~$300 US) For my CPU cooler, I chose one that got fair ratings for the price point and matches a black and white aesthetic. I think it should be able to handle the 3700X's 65 watt TDP. ARCTIC Freezer 34 eSports DUO CPU Cooler (~$50 US) I wanted a graphics card that would be able to handle most loads very well but not destroy my bank account. For a moderate price and good looking specs on paper, I chose to get a variant of the GTX 1660 Super. GPU: Asus GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER 6 GB DUAL EVO OC (~$240 US) I figure 16 GB of DDR4 RAM should be enough for now, and that's an easy upgrade if I ever feel I need 32. I've picked out a well-priced kit with a sleek look. The only thing that gives me slight pause is the lack of reviews for this product, so any opinions on this choice would be appreciated. Crucial Ballistix 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 Memory (~$95 US) Since I'm going into content creation, I know I'll have to work with a lot of large programs and heavy files. I've chosen a 500GB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 NVME drive to act as a boot drive and to store programs and frequented files. I'm also going to add a large hard drive for storing files I'm not currently working on. I'll add extra storage and backup drives if my plans work as intended, but can't afford to purchase them now. Samsung 970 Evo 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive (~$90 US) Seagate BarraCuda 4 TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive (~$90 US) Knowing what I want to put on it, I chose my motherboard. I'm not very experienced at picking these, but I wanted to choose one with future upgrades in mind. Due to that, I thought it would be best to go with an X570 board. I also wanted one with a mostly black and white aesthetic and without too much RGB or colored highlighting. I thought that this Asus board would fit well. Asus PRIME X570-P ATX AM4 Motherboard (~$145 US) Since I'd found myself favoring a black and white clean aesthetic, I wanted my case to conform to that as well. I also wanted one with solid airflow and sleek design that could make a statement but not be obnoxious whilst sitting on my desk. The Fractal Design Meshify C in white ticked all of those boxes. Fractal Design Meshify C ATX Mid Tower Case (~$90 US) As for my power supply, I wanted something at least semi-modular but not too pricey, since my build was beginning to stress the budget I had set forth. I chose this one, which seemed to be a good deal, but I'm not sure how ideal it is for this build. I think this is the one item I'm most likely to change out if a better option is found. EVGA BQ 750 W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply (~$85 US) Add on a Windows 10 key (~$100 US) and a tube of Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut (~$8 US). In total, the build is looking to cost me approximately $1,282 before any sales tax. This is right about the threshold of my budget, and I don't think I can justify going any further at the moment without good reason. With that said, please don't hesitate to tell me if there's anything I'm missing here. Also, please let me know if there are any obvious ways to save money that I may have missed. I'll shop around for bargains once my parts list is finalized. Cheers!
  19. Hi guys, newbie here. I'm looking for a new laptop for my wife. She needs it for work mostly (multitasking mostly) and some amateur photo/video editing (on a budget). I found tempting offers for Lenovo L340 with i5 9300H and GTX1050 3gb and HP 15 with i7 8565u and MX250 4gb. Which option would be better? Or something 3rd? Thanks!
  20. Hi, I should preface this by saying that I have no prior experience using remote desktop in any form. My aging laptop is not powerful enough to handle my 4K video editing needs (Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, After Effects), but rather than breaking the bank by investing in a new heavily specced laptop I'm hoping this alternative is a viable solution: Building a desktop computer and use it through (local) remote desktop on my current laptop. That way the desktop computer can just sit in a corner of my apartment while I can move around and work from the couch, bed etc on my laptop. So, is this solution even possible? Will I be able to monitor audio through remote desktop? What about latency? And will keyboard shortcuts for the editing software still work over remote desktop? Basically, will I be able to work with the same user experience and input latency through local remote desktop?
  21. Hi, I'm looking for some insights with these laptops Acer Nitro 5 Asus TUF FX505 Lenovo Y540 I need a laptop for mostly video editing but I'd also like to game with it. So far I found these three and can't decide between them. The models I found were all similar in specs: 9th gen i5 or 3rd gen Ryzen 5 paired with a 1650, they mostly differ with storage and screen. As much as I'd like to wait for 10th gen intel or 4000-series Ryzen, my 7-year old laptop died and I have nothing to use at uni and work. If there are better options, I'd highly appreciate recommendations

  23. Budget: $1500 AU, $1000 USD I'm editing 4K, but I like extra headroom, in case of very intensive workflows, a longer project (in terms of timeline) or an upgrade of camera equipment. I would also like to do casual gaming on the side, so the extra graphics over the 1650 recommended by Linus in his video is kinda useful. The Linus Tech Tips video mentioned is below. 24. In my previous thread on Laptops and Pre-built systems I discussed the posibility of buying a brand new laptop for video editing, motion graphics and gaming purposes that could out perform my r5 1600 build for under $650. I came to the conclusion that I won't be able to get a good deal for that money (at least in my country) and I also my enthusiasm for PC building is huge. With that being said, I'd like to upgrade my current Ryzen build (small tweaks here and there) so it's more effective in video editing. This is my current build: PCPartPicker Part List Type Item Price CPU AMD Ryzen 5 1600 (14nm) 3.2 GHz 6-Core Processor $107.99 @ Amazon Motherboard Asus PRIME B350-PLUS ATX AM4 Motherboard Memory Kingston HyperX Fury RGB 8 GB (1 x 8 GB) DDR4-2400 Memory Storage Western Digital Caviar Blue 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive $43.00 @ Newegg Video Card Asus Radeon R7 260X 2 GB Video Card Case Corsair SPEC-04 ATX Mid Tower Case $54.99 @ Corsair Power Supply Thermaltake TR2 500 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply Monitor Samsung S24D300H 24.0" 1920x1080 60 Hz Monitor Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total $205.98 Generated by PCPartPicker 2020-02-05 18:54 EST-0500 The upgrade paths I had in mind were: Getting a 2x8gb 3200Mhz CL 16-18-18 RAM kit Upgrading both PSU and v-card Getting an SSD for OS + video and photo editing software Better monitor Changing my PSU for something more reliable before going ahead with all the upgrades Which one should I go for first?
  25. Hey everyone, I am going to build a PC specifically for Video Editing and am confused between the two processors. Please help me out. I will be using the DaVinci Resolve 16 Public (Free) version for my video editing. Other Specifications of the PC are going to be 16 GB of RAM, a B450 motherboard (most probably the Tomahawk Max), 512 GB SSD and 1 TB HDD, 500 watt Power Supply. Also It would be great if you are able to advice me among the following graphics cards : RX 580 8GB or GTX 1650 SUPER 4GB or GTX 1660 SUPER 6GB : as these fall under the budget that I am trying to maintain(i.e. : A total of 70,000 Rupees(~1000$) for the PC and approx 15,000 to 20,000(~250$) Rupees for the Graphics Card) I am open to any other recommendations as well. Thank you everyone for your support.
