  1. So I am looking to upgrade my asus vg248qe tn panel with a newer IPS Panel so I can start doing some photo editing. I was able to snag the ASUS VP249QGR on amazon today so I am just waiting for its arrival, but it got me wondering. Would I notice a performance hit? I play competitive shooters like call of duty & rainbow six so input lag/response times are very important to me and quite noticeable. Also, I know this uses the same panel as the AOC 24G2 but do they offer the same features? ASUS seems to have ELMB & AOC seems to have its overdrive/Low Input Lag Mode. I don't see anyone talking about these key differences and I was wondering which one is more ideal for the competitive shooter! Thanks in advance!
  2. Regarding the ASUS VG248 MONITORS, or any ASUS monitors with a sudden no displayport signal. This is a stupid fix, but it always works when your monitor will not resume from sleep. Unplug it for 10 seconds, and plug it back in. It seriously works, and I've done it to the 3 ASUS MONITORS I have. But it seems to not just be isolated to the VG248 line of monitors or it's variants. I've seen reports from SEVERAL monitors NOT of this line. And it should be added as a fix for this topic as well:
  3. Hi guys, I'm looking to buy a new gaming monitor for under £500 and I found these two. Both seem great (in my opinion) but I'm not sure which would be best. If you have any other suggestions then please let me know, I would prefer one which is 144hz, lowest response time possible and to have G-Sync (as I have a GTX 970). Samsung LC24FG70FQUXEN http://displaysolutions.samsung.com/business-monitor/detail/1033/C24FG70 Asus VG248QE https://www.asus.com/uk/Monitors/VG248QE/ Thanks -Update- I ended up going for the Dell S2716DG 2K, 144hz, G-Sync monitor. So far so good. Only problem was the price of it seems to be rising quickly, it went up nearly £60 in less than 2 weeks. If you are in the UK, PC World currently have it for £499, over £100 cheaper than anywhere else I could see.
  4. Copy pasted from my reddit post. I've narrowed down my choices for an external monitor to get for my laptop MSI 860m Asus Vg248qe vs Dell U2414H I play somewhat competitive games like Overwatch And CSGO But im sensitive to picture quality since I like to play AAA RPG's and casual games with great graphics like Witcher 3, mass effect andromeda and skyrim with enhanced graphics mods. I've seen reviews on both monitors and here is what I found: Asus VG248QE: Excellent for gaming 1ms response time and low input lag BETTER color quality compared to some TN panels of same price like benQ but not better than an IPS panel. Dell U2414H : Excellent picture quality IPS panel 8ms response time but very low input lag which is good Some reviews even say that for FPS flick shooting games this monitor performs good compared to other IPS panels (can anyone who owns this monitor confirm this) My level of "competitiveness" in Overwatch (currently 3100 diamond SR) And CSGO(currently master guardian 1) What I'm trying to say is, I'm not a professional gamer but im better than average... But I want good image quality. Should I get the asus one for the faster response time and 144hz(even tho my gpu can't output more than 60hz) Or should I get the Dell U2414H that has better colors with decent response time and low input lag
  5. Hey all! So as the title suggest, I am wondering if I already have a DVID cable that my ASUS VG248QE 144hz monitor came with would it even be worth upgrading to a DisplayPort cable? Thank You!
  6. Hey guys, I have an old Hanns-G HW191D 19" 1440x900 monitor from 2007 and I'm thinking of upgrading it. I have a Asus Strix GTX 1060 OC, which is the sweetspot for 1080p gaming. So, my doubts are in between this 2 monitors: the Asus VG248QE and the Asus ROG SWIFT PG248Q. The main difference is obviously the G-Sync feature (and the PG248Q has a better design hehe). I'd also like to know which one has the best colors, or if they're almost the same (since I never had this 2 monitors next to each other to compare them). The first is 270€ and the second 480€. I'd like to ask you guys what is the best buy. Thank you all.
  7. I already have a 24'' ASUS VG248QE monitor, and am looking into getting a 2nd display. Should I get another VG248QE for the sake of uniformity, or get some 24'' 1440p IPS monitor for content? Thanks for any help!
  8. So I've done extensive testing and have determined that my VG248QE monitor interferes with at least two different mice. When my mouse gets to the top leftish part of my mousepad(bottom right area of the monitor) my mouse will either not function or barely function. I've tested it with multiple mousepads, two different computer mice, multiple wire positions to make sure it isnt a break in the cable etc. Would anyone happen to know a fix/has had this happen to them?
  9. Hello. Im planning to modify my Asus vg248qe to have my Ps2 inside it (or attached securely). Is there someway to de-solder the av multi out and connect an hdmi cable and solder it in?
  10. I'm slowly building out the rest of my 'battle station' and it's time to turn my attention to a second monitor. I've got an ASUS PG279Q as my primary. I love this monitor but I don't really want to buy another for my secondary monitor. Secondary monitor will be used for work and monitoring (Twitch, CPU/GPU temps, Discord). My question is: Should I focus on matching refresh rate or resolution? Does either matter for a secondary monitor? I've heard Windows 10 has issues if you secondary monitor is a lower refresh rate that G-Sync will cap your main to that rate. My second monitor choices are: PB277Q MG248QR VG248QE I'd like to keep it sub 300 but I am certainly open to any suggestions. Thanks!
  11. Hey there, I have a bit of knowledge about all the ports and the 144hz situation but I have 2 questions. Question 1: I currently own a Asus VG248QE and have that plugged into my GeForce GTX 970 through a Dual Link DVI-D connection and works perfectly fine. I've been wanting to buy another monitor (the same one) and was wondering how I would connect that one into the GeForce GTX 970 aswell as my other one so that I would have 1920x1080 resolution and 144hz on both monitors. Question 2: I currently own a Asus VG248QE and have a Lenovo Legion Y520 laptop. That laptop only has a HDMI and a USB-C port. As far as I know you can't reach 1920x1080 144hz through HDMI so my question is. Is there any way to connect my ASUS VG248QE to my laptop through a USB-C by using some sort of adapter/converter and still get to see 1920x1080 144hz on the monitor? Thank you for any help!
  12. Hey all, I noticed that the backside my Asus VG248QE tends to produce a rather strong static electrical field after being powered on for several hours. If you simply brush your arms against the plastic back or sides of the monitor, you can really feel the pull on your hairs. This monitor is only a few days old, and the backside was caked with dust in a pattern similar to this effect: I was wondering if this is normal behavior for this monitor, or for monitors in general? I was a bit concerned since static electricity is harmful for PC components, but is this nothing to worry about?
  13. Hey all. Attempting to apply a custom color profile to my Asus monitor (VG248QE) after reinstalling windows, and the profile seems to do nothing. I recently just installed windows 10 and still cannot get it to apply the profile properly even though it worked before. Any help appreciated.
  14. Hello,After using my new ASUS VG248QE monitor for a few hours I began to notice a very strange visual anomaly. Whenever anything bright moves against a dark background it leaves a strong red trail/after image that persists for a second or two. This only happens on the right side of the screen in a very specific region (roughly 40% of the screen is affected). Things such as the mouse cursor or the ASUS on screen display leave behind persistent red after images that gradually fade away. When I watch videos or game on the monitor the entire picture is severely affected as anytime something moves on the right side of the screen there are garish red smudges. This issue is very different to "ghosting" and is not effected by slow response time. Instead it appears to be a hardware failure in the panel itself.I have included some photos that show the issue and an animated gif that I recorded to show what the issue looks like in motion:https://i.imgur.com/l6dzC4i.jpghttps://i.imgur.com/1b5stxn.jpghttps://i.imgur.com/d0idS8K.mp4In regards to trouble shooting the problem myself I have tried 3 different cables (2 displayport, 1 HDMI), various refresh rates (144hz, 120hz, 100hz, 60hz, etc) and every setting in the OSD and Nvidia Control Panel but nothing fixes the problem. This is actually my THIRD VG248QE I have received in the past two weeks as the other two were sent back for having horrendous backlight bleed issues. Incidentally this current monitor with the red trail issue also has horrendous backlight bleed too...Here is a photo of the current VG248QE (left) next to a Samsung monitor (right):https://i.imgur.com/i4BSm1R.jpgEach VG248QE monitor I have received has had this same backlight issue where the central portion of the display is clouded by large blobs of light. Initially I felt that this was a one off problem but after going through three monitors that have all presented the same visual defect I have lost faith in ASUS.Do these monitors even undergo any quality assurance tests at all? if so how is it possible that I have received three defective ASUS products in a row! I am thoroughly fed up with the whole situation and at this point am considering giving up on the VG248QE (and ASUS) all together...
  15. MSI X99S SLI Plus Mobo Intel Core I7-5820K 16 GB Ram. EVGA Geforce GTX 560 TI Samsung SSD 850 Pro - main boot drive. My computer has been running pretty well. I recently messed up something in Windows 10 though, so I figured I had never done a fully fresh install (I just did the upgrade from Win7 previouslly while keeping my files), so I backed up my files and did a full scorched earth update. The computer has been fine since that, and has been running smoothly. I got a 144 Hz monitory yesterday (Asus VG248QE) and hooked it up. After a little fiddling with hertz rates, I found I had to hook it up to a dual-link DVI cable to get 144hz going. I did so, and it was absolutely smooth. Wonderful. I played with it for a bit, and even went to www.blurbusters.com to get a 120hz lightboost utility (Not sure if this was a mistake). It worked just fine, and any blur was gone. I decided to test this on a bit of TF2, and played for a few minutes. After about three to five minutes, the screen turned grey and the system rebooted. I saw my bios screen, and then the rotating windows loading logo. After that point though, the screen turned black and I got no signal. I rebooted it again, same problem. I fiddled with this again, trying to get it going. I tried my new monitor and my secondary monitor, and they can get into bios, but windows is a no-go past the loading screen. Since I had done a scorched earth reinstate of Windows 10 about two weeks ago, I figured it wouldn't hurt to do another one, but this time, I made an install flash drive from the microsoft ISO utility on another computer. Once I had the drive, I booted to it and installed windows from scratch, wiping out all partitions on the boot drive and recreating them. Windows did its whole installation procedure, rebooted, a few times, and then I found i was successful. I could see the windows desktop, access the taskbar, everything. Windows 10 was running nearly 100%, save for being stuck at 1024x768 due to the default windows driver. I went to nvidia's website to download the latest drivers and get everything going in full resolution. They downloaded just fine. I ran them, and they began to install with a message telling me the driver was installing. Partway through, i lost signal to display. This has happened before, and it usually only lasts about a second or two while the video card swaps to the new driver. This time however, the screen remained black, with no input, and after a minute or two, the pc rebooted. I let it go past the bios post screen, and again, I saw the windows loading dots circling around. After it finished loading, I lost signal, waited a minute or two, and the computer rebooted itself. Now I'm back where i was earlier. No video signal coming from windows, and the PC reboots itself after a certain period, this on a completely fresh install of windows this time, nothing preserved. I thought i might have something wrong in BIOS, so I did a full CMOS reset (This mobo has a little button you can stick a pin in while it's off, neat) and got confirmation that things had reset. Ok, I booted windows again, post screen, windows loading, black screen. DANG IT! I ran system restore, rolled back to a point right after I had first installed windows. It booted okay with the default driver, no problem. Rather than use the nvidia driver I just downloaded, I tried an old one that came packaged with my new monitor. I copied it to the hard drive (My DVDROM drive is slow), ran it from the desktop, and the same thing happened. It made it part way, lost signal, and then rebooted. Another system restore restored the default windows driver, but any subsequent attempts have resulted in the same problem. Figuring it might be one monitor or the other, I dragged the old monitor the 144hz one replaced back in, sat it on my desk, and hooked it up the way it's been for the past few months. I rebooted, saw the bios screen, but windows has the same issue. So, three monitors in all have failed to respond with nvidia drivers installed. The only real change since the PC was working was the new monitor, and the 120hz strobe program from blur busters. The results of that should have vanished with the fresh windows install though, as I believe all that information was kept on the software side, which I laid waste to after the problems began. Anyone have a new avenue for investigation I might try, or, perhaps, if this sounds familiar, you might have a solution. Also, I'm not sure if this belongs in this forum, or the windows BSOD one, so please correct me if I posted it to the wrong place. Thank you for your help. P.S. & Edit: Thinking it might be my Motherboard firmware, which has been upgraded since it left the factory, I downloaded the most up to date 2016 firmware onto a flash drive and used M-Flash to update it. The update went without a problem, my post screen changed appearance, and I have a snazzy new bios settings menu (roughly the same, but a cooler look with things in more convenient places). I am still suffering the same issue though, so that didn't fix it. Further fixes: My dad loaned me his Geforce 660 (A slow little thing, but useable), and I managed to get windows 10 up and running with it, and then installed the Nvidia drivers without a hitch. I got it working at 144hz and have had no problems so far. Since I successfully installed the Nvidia drivers, I thought I might try to get the 560 TI running again. I powered down, swapped cards, and once again, the 560 TI showed the post screen, the windows loading screen, and then nothing before rebooting. I'm thinking that either outputting 144hz and 120hz stressed the old card too much and caused something to mess up, or I could have a power issue. I'm doubting the power issue though because it didn't present itself until recently, and if it were due to the new monitor, then the card should still work on my old monitors. I'm currently considering whether to hope it's the video card and just get myself one of those GTX 1070s I've been looking at.
  16. I can't decide which one to get for my rig. I'll be using this as my main monitor and it will be on my dual monitor mount. 17. About 6 months ago i bought the Asus VG248QE 144hz monitor and I've noticed that there were thin white horizontal lines in the around the middle of the screen when i change the Hz to 120 or 144 when i put it on 60Hz the lines disappear
  18. I bought two VG248QE's but I'm not actually sure where the best place to put a dual monitor setup is... If the monitors are in the middle of the desk I'm looking at beefy bezels.. With keyboard and mouse positioned nearer the monitor on the left..you get poor viewing angles for the monitor on the right... I don't want to game off-centered if possible. (One is for gaming and one is for general use) How do most people do this while keeping it "neat"
  19. I just got myself a pair of the VG248QE's from Asus and I'm using them with a 970 but I can't seem to enable lightboost in the monitor OSD. I'm using DVI cables at 144Hz using standard picture mode so I'm a bit confused... It's probably something really obvious..!
  20. Hey guys, so I thought, as my last ditch effort for an answer or fix, I come here and ask the LTT community. I have the above mentioned monitor, 3 of them to be specific, and I cannot get them to work right. I have tried everything in my power to fix it but i cannot find out why it won't work. The issue is, all three monitors are detected by windows and the GPU, but not all of them gain a signal. When I start up the computer, 2 of the 3 monitors start posting, after it posts and lods windows, the 2 monitors shut off with the other monitor that was off, turning on and showing windows booting up. during boot up, the screen flickers and shuts off/on multiple times until full bootup, where either all screens say "no signal" or randomly, one of the three monitors turn on. The other monitors are obviously detected because it still stretches the entire screen across all three monitors. (I should have mentioned I am using Eyefinity) now, If i unplug all the monitors and leave only one monitor plugged in, it works fine, except for the above mentioned flickering and on/off cycles during boot up. The monitor will stay on, work at 144hz at 1080P and have no hiccups during use. I have tried using DVI, but my GPU only has one DVI port, making it useless for a multi monitor setup as the two DP monitors wont turn on in the same fashion as above. (DVI works perfectly is what i'm saying here) HDMI is not my friend because of the increased input lag and the inability to run at 144HZ and please don't tell me to use VGA. Different attempts to fix the issue + Reason why i, or why i can't, use it: Unplug monitors for 5-10 seconds, then plug back in. (This works sometimes, but only 60% of the time and this isn't a very good permanent solution, too much work and no guarantee it works every time) Attempt to use other Cables (Explained above) Check GPU BIOS driver (Currently at latest version) Check Motherboard BIOS Update (I don't feel safe messing with this yet as my mobo only has one BIOS and I have no UPS) Try different cable (Same outcome, no matter length or quality of cable) Different GPU (Only other GPU I have is a 270 w/out DP, only HDMI and DVI) DIfferent Monitor(First off I don't have any other monitors and second, I'm not going to just say screw it and buy new ones only to find out those monitors have the same issue) RMA GPU (Modified to accept a waterblock, can't RMA) RMA Mobo (Modified to Accept Waterblock, can't RMA) RMA CPU (Haven't RMA'd yet, saving this as a last ditch attempt to fix my issue) Reformat and Reinstall Windows 10(Did it twice, it only fixed an old boot up issue, not the monitors) Monitor drivers (Drivers only affective if I have an Nvidia GPU) Switch up cables monitor cables and rearrange monitor set up (no change) Try without Eyefinity (no change) Reinstall GPU Drivers (All monitors turn on, but are duplicated until set to extend, in which case become broken again) Mobo: asrock fatal1ty 990fx killer CPU: AMD FX 8350 RAM: AMD RADEON 16GB GPU: AMD R9 390X 8GB PSU: Corsair AX1200i OS: Windows 10 64-bit (not fresh install, upgrade from W7)
  21. Alright so I have had a VG248QE monitor hooked up to my R9 390, running 144 hz, ever since I built my machine. Recently, I picked up a second monitor (Asus VS247H) and plugged it into my machine via HDMI cable. Ever since I plugged in this second monitor, my main monitor will randomly glitch out first and then go to a black screen for about 2-5 seconds. This happens every 10-15 minutes and is completely random. I could be playing a game or idle at the desktop or just browsing the web and it will still happen. When I only had my 144hz monitor plugged in, this did not happen. Anybody know of any fixes or anything? Link to my PCPP if that helps with anything.
  22. Hi everyone, last year I bought 2 x Asus VG248QE monitors, but I've had nothing but problems with these losing DisplayPort signals. I'm now looking into getting a replacement for these monitors, and I was wondering what people would recommend. At the moment, I'm not that hooked on getting a new Asus monitor due to their reputation for having their DP input breaking, but don't let that stop you from recommending an Asus monitor.
  23. So there's the ASUS vg248qe that i have been looking at for a while... but recently i came across the NIXEUS nx-vue24a that is very similar, just with freesync and less contrast. Do you think the nixeus would be worth it for just $10 more?
  24. I copied this from another forum, I just want the most answers possible. Thank you. So I wanted to connect my PS4 to my PC monitor just because it is more convenient to me. I know HDMI is limited to 60Hz no problem console is the same. My problem is that I cannot get a picture through HDMI on this monitor. HDMI works with my PC just fine (had to test if the monitors port was bad) I use DVI on my PC normally. I disabled HDCP on the PS4 set resolution to 1080p on it as well and I got a picture for about 10 minutes then it went black again... Still get audio coming through. The PS4 works perfectly on all of my TVs. I have tried all of the available resolutions on the PS4 too and no luck... I also tried different HDMI cables nothing helps thus far. I can hear the menu of the PS4 but I cant get an image. Please, any suggestions are welcome!
  25. I've heard great things about both monitors. I have heard about more issues w/ the ASUS (maybe worse colors, ASUS CS issues), but I have heard less overall about the BENQ. Also, the BENQ has no speakers. What do you guys think?
