Slowly piecing together my second PC that I merely want to be a status piece and a PC I can play on when I go on holidays to the cabin. Focus is mainly offline games that I haven't played through, like Nier Tomata, Mad Max, Mirrors Edge Catalyst, Deus EX and what not, your 2010's decade games, nothing 2020 or newer. Whilst I've yet to try out the used X570 motherboard I've bought, I have my old 2700X I was hoping to use and trying to keep costs down I'd rather use the 2700X than get a used 5600 (I will have to buy one regardless if BIOS is not up to date from previous owner) and squeeze as much performance as I can from my Vega 64. Build is here. Basically, at what point is Vega 64 powerfull enough to start needing the CPU to pull its weight? Reference would be those mid 2010 games, nr 1 would be aiming at Witcher 3 high/max/ 60fps at 1440p. I really hope this is all gonna be a GPU bottleneck cause I'm still taken aback by how bad the 2700X is actually for games.

Alright so I have a reference vega 64 in which I put a morpheus II aftermarket cooler on it (with arctic silver) , it did really well for a really long time. But ever since a month ago i've been encountering crashes in games (GTA Online character creation screen, A tank being destroyed in TF2 MVM, etc), when this happens, both of my monitors go black and my GPU power indicator LED's turn off, so I think it is a gpu issue. Whenever this happens I have to do a hard shutdown (if I reset, the issue is still present), also even when playing a much more intensive game (GTA V), my gpu core and ram hit maybe half of their rated speeds, despite this and that the card is at only 65 degrees Celsius, the fans will spin at 1800RPM, and the game's motion becomes jittery. Various things that I think could be the root of the problem: 1. My arctic silver thermal adhesive is barely sticky and never was, and my vrm heatsinks have fallen off many times (but it hasn't caused these issues in the past) 2. The secondary power supply is a gigabyte P650B which isn't one of the best rated ones on the PSU tier list 3. I did remove the backplate to install the cooler, and since it's not held on as firmly the card's PCB does flex a lot more than usual Please help, I really don't want to buy a new graphics card right now.

Hello there. Original post found here: Help dead vega 64 - Hardware / GPU - Level1Techs Forums After recently building my first PC at university, I thought it'd be a wise idea to try and hybrid cool my GPU (Vega 64), since it's heatsink was slightly damaged causing overheating. So I attached a coolermaster ML120 liquid cooler on the card but no VRM heatsinks, thinking it would be alright so long as I didn't push the card, and it actually worked for a solid few mins under Furmark. However after leaving it ON IDLE for about an hour, I come back to see my GPU completely dead. Anyway, I only brought the gpu home and plugged into a test rig to probe it with a multimeter. Whilst I know the core is still alive, the VRM phases all read 0V as if there's something wrong with either a driver IC or a Voltage controller. The only positive reading i'm getting off the card is the PCIe power rail, at 12V and the 1.8V rail, which for me is at 1.73V. Literally all the other surrounding phases read 0V I don't exactly have access to the PCB specifications, so i'm kinda stuck on where to go from here and figure out which specific component needs replacing in order to fix my card. If anyone could help, I'd appreciate it. Thanks

Hi, I've recently purchased a Vega 64 (luckily not too overpriced) from powercolor in the red devil design. Unfortunately, it doesn't post at all, here's what I know: Previous owner sometimes had issues with the GPU posting. Previous owner had this issue fixed with a hard restart (taking the power for several minutes). Previous owner could game on it once the GPU started correctly (he provided a benchmark) When the system starts, the red light of the first power stage on the GPU-Tach shortly flashes. The GPU fans spin and the red devil logo is lit. The GPU has no video output if the red light shortly flashed during boot I tried several different mainboards and CPUs with the same result. Tried it out on the Linux system of a friend and the system crashed during driver initialization. GPU worked properly on one boot, on 2 others it also gave a display out but crashed after several seconds. The thermal pads had dust on it, so I changed them, but nothing has changed. I've tested the card on the following systems: #1 Ryzen5 1600x Asus Prime B450 Plus 16gb Ballistix Sport 2666mhz 1x 256gb Samsung 860 Evo Powercolor Red Devil Vega 64 BeQuiet Pure Power 11 650w (2yrs. All audio including discord audio will play for a bit and then stop and a hard restart is required. Running furmark shows that the Graphics card isnt running at full speed during the gpu burn-in test with the card running at less the 1000mhz and the temps not reaching higher than 65c. Further more if i minimize the window, clocks will go to full speed(1630mhz) and reopening the window causes the same crash. Troubleshooting: I've tried updating the bios,Updating Vbios,Re-seating the gpu,Replacing the thermal paste, replacing the powersupply with a Corsair 750w, using seperate power rails for both 8-pin power connectors, updating Amd Display drivers, Downgrading Amd display drivers, Using Enterprise drivers, and messing with the power limit+/-.

Hi, I'm new to this forum. I have a problem with my GPU (Vega 64 Air). When playing I have a 'black screen' problem, the speed fun of my card is 100%. I replaced my old PSU with a 1000w Cooler Master (Oversized I know), thinking this was the problem. But nothing, the problem exists and I don't know how to solve it anymore. I thank all those who will give me a hand in this now become 'problem'.

Hey all! I have a Vega 64 reference in my system along with a few HDDs, an SSD, 16gb of 3000mhz T-Force RAM, a Ryzen 1700 @ 3.85ghz on AIO, and an ASUS B350F mobo. When playing MWII on any quality setting I'll start the match with crazy stutters and by the end of the match, it usually levels out but the longer I play it or Warzone 2 or DMZ, as the match goes on I'll go from ~100fps down gradually to around 70s, then a sudden drop to 20 and eventually if the match lasts longer enough, it'll drop below 12fps and crash. This also happens in the single player/co-op missions so the game itself it seems does not like my Vega. All temps stay completely reasonable with the Vega never going above 75°C. Undervolt, Overclock, stock, same result. My cousin who has the same exact model card gets 100+ FPS on high/ultra without issue. Any thoughts? I've tried DDU already and my Adrenalin and GPU driver are both updated to current (11/22/22) Thanks in advance!

Hi, I'm new to this forum but I'll try be as concise as possible. I have purchased a new PC, and it has been working fine for some weeks now. Today I saw that the PC started by itself and then shut down (within 6 seconds) and no display were shown. To my surprise it kept doing this until I turned the PSU switch to off. I have researched through Google but with no luck. Here is what I have tried: Checking the PSU cables - They seem fine and the fans and LEDs work, but just for some seconds before it shuts down . Checking the CPU for broken pins or other issues - The CPU seems to be fine. Removed the GPU - Same outcome Removed some RAM slots and exchanging where they sit - No success also Checking the motherboard's cables to see if they are loose or not connected - No success Also I have noted that there is a Yellow light in the motherboard, but this light I remember has been present since the beginning. Here are the specs: Micro-ATX MSI B450M PRO-VDH Max AMD Ryzen 7 2700X Octa-Core, 3.70 GHz Sapphire Nitro+ Radeon RX Vega 64 8GB HDMI / DUAL DP (UEFI) Full G.SKILL Aegis 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4-3000MHz CL16 SSD M.2 2280 Western Digital Blue SN500 500GB 3D NAND NVMe What can I do ? Do any of you guys have had this problem ? Please bare in mind I'm still a beginner (even though I can understand most things) and also I do not have any tools for disassembling the PC other than the common tools in the house hold (for example I do not have termal paste, special tools, etc.) Thanks for any guidance,

Currently my gpu is a gtx 980 and im looking to upgrade to a Vega 64. my psu is a thermal take smart RGB 750w the reason I bought the smart RGB is it had great reviews but I've been told it's really really bad what psu should I get and how high could I overclock the 64 I will be installing a water block on the gpu as my system has a custom loop. Thanks for any help
-
So I mounted a water block on my reference vega 64 because I was tired of hearing a blower card all the time. I know this is a problem for a lot of vega owners, especially those who water cool. When I look I my "GPU temperature" they have improved greatly, but the hotspot temperature has gotten much worse. I wondering if any of you have ran into the same issue. I will try taking the block off and on again and remounting with a bit more thermal paste. Does anyone have any more tips for this? My loop keeps getting heat soaked because of this and then my cpu overheats and it's just a mess. Temperatures on my very much underclocked vega reach 106C which is ridiculous.

Before I start I had asked this in the graphics card section and we figured out I need a 1000w psu also the reason I am doing crossfire is all my games support crossfire and I 3d render games (ones I have custom made ) so these GPUs will be used not just for gaming I found a supernova g5 for a good price (im in UK) and being that it's evga it should be high quality for what I need (all the seasonic Ones are out of stock were I am and the only ones left are £250+ which is alot and I don't really want to pay more than £200) will the supernova g5 be good quality as I have heard that they are not the best? Thanks for any help

Before anyone says crossfire is not worth it most of the games I play support it + Vega 64s are getting cheaper and they are really good cards I will not only be using them for gaming but for rendering games I have made i know the vega 64s require a 550w psu and currently I have a 700w thermal take psu so I can use 1 no problem but what psu should I get to use both I have heard I could use a 1000w model but im not sure if that will be enough I have read conflicting articles saying 1000w is enough and some saying min would be close to 1400w thanks for any help. Does anyone know where I can buy RX Vega?
-
Soooo, what's with Vega being £100 above msrp?
-
I have a 500W EVGA 80+ AMD FX8320E Max TDP 95w 8GB 1600 DDR3 no other major power draw. Im wondering if my psu can handle RX vega 56, i'd like to not buy a new psu if possible I do have the dual 8pin pci-e connectors, so id assume it would be okay.

Hey everyone, So currently my current build is as follows: Motherboard: Asus Z87-A CPU: Intel I5 4670K (overclocked to 4.2 I haven't tried higher) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 760 SC 4GB w/ EVGA ACX Cooler Memory: Patriot - Viper 3 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory As you can probably tell, I'm not a frame chaser by any means. At the time I built it in 2013 I just needed something for every-day office usage like browsing the web and office programs with a bit of gaming on the side. I mostly strategy and 2D indie games with a few MMO's like Warcraft and League as I've never been quite into FPS's. The build really hasn't let me down as I also am not averse to turning down the settings to reach a decent frame rate. Recently, however, I decided to get triple monitors for productivity. I now have 3 FreeSync capable 1080p 75hz monitors and have been exploring a few more GPU intensive games like The Witcher and Deus Ex. I mostly play them with the center monitor but I would be interested in trying out surround for some games later. I'm not looking to upgrade my whole system at this point, possibly the RAM and GPU (PSU if necessary). Given the new release of Vega 64, while I wouldn't bite at it's current prices, if I was able to snag one at the originally slated $500 price point should I get one for the sake of taking advantage of the FreeSync monitors I already have? Or would you just buy a GTX 1080 TI and call it a day? While it's undisputed that GTX 1080 TI is king right now, all the information I see regarding FreeSync is directly in relation to G-Sync. Again, given I already have FreeSync monitors, is it worth losing some FPS to take advantage of the feature or would you just go for the GTX 1080 TI and lose this function? Thanks in advance for the advice!

I saw this little blurb over at HardOCP and thought it was kind of interesting, but basically someone over at ChipHell has successfully flashed the Vega 64 BIOS onto a Vega 56 card and while it doesn't unlock the extra stream processors, it does provide a bit of a bump in performance... https://www.hardocp.com/news/2017/08/30/chip_hell_flashes_vega_56_bios_64 Not that I think anyone will be able to find a Vega Card for a reasonable price, however, it does make the Vega 56 a bit better of a deal if you get a dual BIOS card at MSRP and just flash the 64 BIOS onto it...
-
Does anyone know if Vega FE drivers work on Vega 64? I have two of them and it's really annoying how I can't use crossfire int he current drivers. I know the fe drivers support it, so i just wanted to know if i could use FE drivers and get it without flashing the bios on my card.
-
Have anyone here experience with flashing a liquid bios on a air vega 64? And also, what are your overclocking results? I am not able to get it running stable with the liquid bios. It is watercooled with an EK waterblock, and temps are fine.

I recently water-cooled my build because it's something I've always wanted to do. It was working fine but sometimes would crash during gpu stress tests, and be unable to boot into windows randomly. I rolled back my overclocks. However after I rolled them back the screen would black again. Then eventually I couldn't go past stock clocks for both the memory and core. I took my graphics card apart to see if all the modules we're being cooled. Bought more thermal pads and reapplied them. That didn't fix it. WhenI could get into windows. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the drivers. No difference. I used older drivers no difference. I switched power supplies, checked ram sticks and individual slots. I used a friend's GTX 1060. And it worked. I reformatted windows, using my friends card, thinking that something had boinked amd the drivers. Even after a clean install of windows and the vega installed, I still can not get past the bios splash screen. I can enter the bios through my Vega card. And using the board explorer application I see that when the Vega 64 card is installed, the motherboard calls it a AMD PCI to PCI bridge. I have no idea how that happened. Is my video card dead? Is there a way to fix it? Is my motherboard pci slot screwed up and that causing the problems? Thank you for your help in advance. So before I really was disappointed on the RX Vega 64's price, being like 800 dollars or above. However, this has changed now that it has actually dropped to 500 where I live (8000 vs 5000 sek) This makes it VERY competive against the 1080, so I thought I'd make a forum asking about your opinions. I will however wait for black friday, as I usually am able to find really good deals there I do strongly believe that the 1080 will get a pretty big price drop, but not so much the rx vega. Also I do have freesync, and I also have a 750W power supply, however I am asking.. is that freesync really making it worth buying? even though 1080 has better performance AND lower TDP What do you guys think I should buy? I have a 6600k with a 1440p 144hz monitor btw.

Hey guys, I'm kinda stuck. I was going to be buying the new Vega 64, but now that it's out I find its performance quite lack luster. I'm a little bit uncertain seeing as the performance of the card could improve with drivers, but knowing how much/little it can improve by is difficult. With all that in mind which graphics card would you recommend? Which card would give me the most future proofing?
