Hi i have a question about by VDSL service. So the max rate at the gate of my home is 120 mbit and the current rate is around 100 mbit both of them are for downstream. The upstream is near 45mbit current and max at the gate. Both SNR margins around 6 but no packet errors. But in the house which I am on level 5 of the house SNR is the same but downstream speeds are down 30 mbit from mentioned above and upstream 10 mbit lower. It is just 5 floors around 20 meters max of cables and it is a good copper cable. What should I do? Change the inside building copper wires again?

Hey there People, I just have a simple problem im facing. (or atleast I hope its simple) Currently our home is connected to our ISP via VDSL with 100 MBits down and 20 MBits up. In our house, since its somewhat old, we dont have networking like idk Cat 5 oder Cat 6 or sth like that set up. The only "interconnection between some rooms and the basement" is that we have old phone cableing running through our house. Now we got a letter from one of our regional ISPs telling us that they are finally wanting to provide FTTB for us and our neighbors. I just have one problem. Sure getting a fibre connection into our basement is no problem since theres already an empty tube going from our housewall to the road. But how am I going to connect e.g. my room (1st floor) with a potential fibre connection down in the basement. Can I convert the optical signal somehow and just dump it onto the existing phone lines that are layed out throughout our house or what other good options do I have? Looking forward to hear from yall.

Hi! Since almost 2 years now I am experiencing disconnects on my VDSL 250/40 MBit connection (Telekom Germany) and am running out of ideas what to try to narrow the issue down: My modem restarts training anything from three times a day to every three days. Most of the time it happens about once a day at completely random times. I am using a Unifi USG as a router and have tried a total of 4 modems (routers in full-bridge mode) now: Zyxel VMG3006-D70A, 2x Draytek Vigor 165, Speedport Smart 4 (doesn't support full-bridge so had to use different config). All of them had more or less the same issue. I tried about 5 different modem codes provided by the vendor on the Draytek Vigor 165 with no difference at all. I replaced the copper cable from my appartment to the cellar. The ISP switched me onto a different pair of cables that run from the cellar to the box down the street and resoldered the connection there. I have replaced the in-wall box that I plug the modem cable in and I have tried 4 different cables (modem to wall). After about 12 hours since the last disconnect my modem shows the following error counts: Near end indicator Far end indicator FEC errors: 0 0 CRC errors: -13 8 CRC_P errors: 0 0 CRCP_P errors: 0 0 CV_P errors: 0 0 CVP_P errors: 0 0 After all these modems, could the issue still be on my side? I tried a modem that only supports up to 100Mbit/s and that seemed to improve things (no disconnects over 3 days) but had to go back since I need the speed. The ISP is refusing to help me any further. I work from home and since I can't control when the disconnects happen this has caused me lots of trouble already... Any ideas what I could try to narrow the search down would be greatly appreciated!!! -
Hi, I have configured a Watch-guard T-10D following the steps in this guide : http://www.watchguard.com/help/docs/wsm/xtm_11/en-us/content/en-us/networksetup/dsl_vdsl_vlan_c.html It works but drops a lot, I then called up my ISP to configure the Watch-guard with them and still i am having the same issues. I have had a Line Test run and it came back as fully passed. I had a broadband test run and again passed. Confused where to go from here HELP PLEASE

Hello everybody, So here is my problem. I a have a vdsl connection but i am a not connected from a dslam. I am connected from a cabin with a protocol called vpu, vpu-lite actually. But the type of my connection is not the deal here. My line is perfect from the noises and errors point of view so the problem i am facing it is not a connection issue. So my modem seems to restart by itself and i mean restart and not desync and resync the connection to internet. My model is a Technicolor TG788 v2 by thomson. I have searched over the internet and it seems like the modem has a faulty compartment inside causing the restart due to overheat, epsecially when wifi is used extensively. All i am asking of is if everybody knows something that i can do to fix this problem either from inside the modem's interface or by doing anything else like adding a ups to its power feed. Changing the modem has already be done and its not for discussion yet cause if a put other market modems with different firmware than this i wont have phone services. (cause my isp use voip so they are cooperating with the manufacturer which makes them a special firmware and pre install it in this spesific model). Is anyone out there who had the same issues with this specific model or had heard anything about it or about a similar problem? Thanks a lot . P.S. I can assure you its not a cable issue by any means. Either the one that comes out from the wall socket neither the one providing power to the modem. They are all tested ,the problem is exclusively caused by the modem . P.S.2. From inside the interface i can see that the modem draws a lot of power (which is expressed in dbs) and that is not so normal. Generally the electricity grind of my house is in a very good condition and i don't have any problem with any other device.The only thing i don't know is about any power drops that may occur and causing the problem, but if thats the deal they are too minor to notice them through other devices in advance.That's why i proposed a solution using a ups device .

Well I have a 50mb/s (vdsl) connection but I only get 3mb/s real-time download speed.. I don't know much about internet connection and stuff like that so please help me is there a way to get more real-time mb/s???

Hi All, I know this is in the hardware networking forum but there is really no software networking fourm. I was scrolling through my settings on my Asus DSL-AC68u router thismorning when I noticed a setting (see picture below) called Annex Mode. Currently I have this set to Annex B/J. There are settings for: Annex A Annex I Annex A/L Annex M Annex A/I/J/L/M Annex B Annex B/J I would like to know exactly what it is and what it does. Will it increase my speed if I set it to a different mode? I am using VDSL2 by the way and I currently get 28 mbits down and 7 mbits up with no drops. Thanks in advance for any helpful answers

Hi guys. So i got new connection, infact upgraded my older ADSL to VDSL. the provider rep came and only like changed router did some settings in the exchange, took 17 days and boom, im on VDSL. now my previous setup was, ADSL ROUTER to my TP Link Router in WAN port (blue color ethernet port on router) then one ethernet port from TP link router to my PC. i did that cause my ADSL router had pathetic wifi signals. this VDSL router from provider is good, its signals are ok. but i still connected it to my PC like this VDSL router to TP link router then to my PC but i just noticed today that my TP link router gives me almost half the download speed of internet which is 15Mbps. but if i connect the VDSL ISP router directly to my PC thernet port, i get full speed as i have shown in screen shot. the 14ish download is when i connected VDSL router directly to the pc and 7ish ones are when i connect the VDSL to TP Link router then TP Link to my PC. can someone help?

My internet is being finally upgraded to 80/8 Vdsl and I need a new modem/router for it. I'm looking for something under 100€ if possible. I would like to have usb 3.0 so I can connect to in my external hdd for file sharing. I want something with dual band, 1gig lan and 802.11ac , nice interface with good qos and parental controls would be handy. Thanks for your time

Hello there guys. I'm looking for a little UPS with few inputs (let's say, max 4 power inputs or so) and input/output ports for RJ11/VDSL2 with surge protection function. My goal is to have this kind of UPS so I can continue to use internet and, at least, the phone, while electricity goes off for whatever reason. I need this because, recently, I got an upgrade to my internet subscription and now I have an fttc vdsl2 line. With this kind of line, the phone works in VoIP linked directly to the Router, but since I have a cordless phone with a radio-base, I need to power that too. I took a look at this kind of UPS https://www.amazon.it/dp/B0009HMYKS but it looks too big for my requirements (I only need to power/protect the Router and the Cordless at the end) and I don't know if those rj11 input/output ports have surge protection. Also, do you recommend to use an all-in-one ups with these features? If so, what would you guys recommend me to buy? In case it's better to have a little ups for the power and an rj11 surge protector filter separately, what would you recommend me to buy? So right now I've got 12Mbps download through ADSL2+. The ISP that provides that actually offers a bonded VDSL service that provides 25Mbps down for less than I pay now. The other option would be a WISP PTP that could provide 20Mbps down. Also I work for a company that is VERY closely partnered with the WISP. If I had service issues or needed a couple public IPs I think I could get them easily. Pricing is very similar, I WISP was about $40 more however since they work with the company I work for they lowered their pricing. Which would you choose, I'm worried about latency and weather interference with the PTP.

Hi all, would first like to preface this by saying I know only a small amount about how adsl/vdsl works and thats half of why I'm here for help. Basically, recently upgraded to a 70mbps connection (VDSL) from ADSL, and didnt think to check that I had RJ45 (or RJ11) ports before doing so, and am sitting with the old phonejack ports (BT iirc) Would it impact my internets performance if I used a BT to RJ11/45 adapter, or would I need to go all the way and get someone in to replace the faceplates (Im not sure if the wiring for a phonejack can be used with VDSL although my adsl ran through one with a splitter) Thanks for any help

Hello all you networking gurus, after much searching and research I have discovered that There aren't a whole lot of VDSL modems out there, and I can't find any good info. I'm looking for a new VDSL2 Vectoring compatible modem for a friend. Price is of the utmost concern. The cheaper, the better. She's not technologically savvy, and the most this connection will ever be used for is streaming Netflix and browsing facebook. I'm looking for somethings that's cheap, simple, and just works. I will probably be the one setting it all up, so initial configuration isn't an issue as long as it doesn't have to be messed with every time the power goes out or something. ISP is Centurylink if it makes a difference. Thanks!

Hey guys. I recently made a post about trying to resolve a router issue I have had, but nothing has fixed it so I have decided that I will be taking it back for a refund and getting a new router. I would love to hear some recommendations about what to get as I am not too sure what is good. All I know is I have had terrible experience with Netgear and Billion so I would prefer to avoid them if possible (also, Netgear has horrendous customer support). Also not a fan of Cisco routers as I don't really want to use a command line to configure everything. I only have a basic understanding of networking. The router needs to have VDSL2, as I am getting NBN in my area (I'm in Australia). A quick TLDR of NBN; all areas now receive FTTN. I would love to hear opinions and suggestions from those who have good experience in networking if possible as I have had issues with recommendations from people who aren't too good in the area (yes, that is my fault). I want a router that is very reliable and has good features if possible. My budget is about $300 - $350 AUD ($235 - $275 USD). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

My parents internet is hosted by the local telephone company. Recently the modem has been having issues due to my heavy use. I am looking for a good VDSL compliant modem/router to replace it with. Wireless isn't important as i have a xclaim Xi-3 for wireless access.

Hi all, I'm looking for a new all in one modem/router for my house. I'm really intrigued with Asus' router line-up. Especially the 'game utilization', easy 'QoS' and 'Live Bandwidth Graphs'. (I really would like a DSL router with Bandwidth graphs) However, the Asus routers do not have a modem, it's just the router. Is there any £150-300 all in one routers, that work with VDSL (DSL line/BT). I cannot seem to find any good ones that actually have DSL support. My ISP is EE (They use BT lines) pay for 80Mb/s and get 75Mb/s. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Amos.

Hey there boys and girls, been a long time since I posted last and I hope someone can help. Right now I use my ISP's modem and router (BT Infinity 2 UK stuff) and it just seems to be really crappy. On both WiFi & LAN it seems to work fine for a couple days then it chugs along slowly until it dies and requires a complete power cycle of all the networking equipment. I'm thinking of replacing both those units with a combined VDSL modem and router, like either the ASUS DSL-N55U or TP-LINK TD-W9980. I know from checking out the ISP forums that the latter should work fine, however im checking if you lot would recommend a certain brand/model for reliability/usability or support reasons? Any help would be appreciated!

So here in NZ we have recently been offered VDSL (high speed copper) and Fibre internet plans, almost everywhere has Fibre/VDSl access according to Chorus, they own all of the lines across NZ and they are responsible for laying and maintain them as well. Every ISP I have checked with says we don't have access to either of these services, so we're stuck with standard ADSL <8mbs So my question is why don't we have access to these services if they're offering them and they claim we can use them?

Hi, I would like to say that this might sound absolutely non-sense-ly. But, I would love you guys to read till the end of the story. So, I once hooked one of my laptops (MacBook Pro 2011 early version) to one of the wall ethernet (?) ports using CAT5e ethernet wire. However, the computer did not gain any access to the internet at all, and repeatedly said that the laptop is not connected to the internet. Here's my question: - How does the wall internet-related plugs work? - Did I need a wireless router in-between the wall jack and the laptop itself? - If I did, which wireless router would you suggest to use it on a MacBook Pro? I was thinking about Airport Express. - Is there any chance that I will have to break down the house and do all the cabling again to make the ports work? - Is there any chance that my Ethernet wire is broken?
