I found a Visual Basic 6 ISO image from winworldpc.com. I was wondering if vb6 is abandonware already or is this piracy and unsafe? https://winworldpc.com/product/microsoft-visual-bas Thanks!

I'm looking to create a basic algorithm that allocates jobs to workers based on skill level and workload. however, I'm stumped at where to start. Background Mobile phone repair store Worker qualifications stored in text files Algorithm is run as button click on the Add Repair Form (VB.net) Requirements Algorithm Reads worker files sequentially, noting the current workload value, finds the worker with at least amount of work checks if he is qualified to do the task If yes assigns job, If no, checks the next worker if 2 workers have the same amount of current jobs reads the first (sorted alphabetically) and runs checks im struggling to even get psuedocode out for this. All Help appreciated (Not asking for a full creation, just how to make this possible, pseudocode wise) Basic attempt at flow chat may help

I'm trying to figure out a way to pause an application in Windows 10 with out have to manually do it from the resource monitor. I need to suspend the application for 7-8 seconds. I'm open to any suggestions. I would like to be able to use JavaScript. I will be in full screen mode when suspending the application and batch will minimize the full screen. Any thought or suggestions are welcome. I will be executing the script via a macro button on a keyboard.

Dim InputFromUser As String = "" For j As Integer = 1 To InputTextBox.Lines.Length InputFromUser = InputFromUser & j & ". " & InputTextBox.Lines(j - 1) & vbNewLine Next OutputTextBox.Text = InputFromUser Sample output by putting the above code in "InputTextBox_TextChanged" This was a problem I had a few weeks ago and couldn't find a solution online and came up with this solution after some trail and error.

Do note that I don't have a problem but rather just sharing code. Operations I'll share code for includes Largest Smallest Total Mean Median Prerequisite: Create a Windows Form Application in Visual Studio. Add another Form in the Windows Form Application called ResultForm.vb. The design of my Form1.vb: Consists of only two elements. A button named “CalculateButton” and a textbox named “InputTextBox” For the textbox, “Multiline” is set true and “ScrollBars” is set to Vertical. The design of my ResultForm.vb: Consists of three different lables, a textbox under the “Your Input – ” label called “YourInputTextBox”, a textbox under the “Answer – ” label called “OutputTextBox” and a textbox under the “Erorr – ” label called “ErrorTextBox”. All textboxes have “ReadOnly” set true. “YourInputTextBox” and “ErrorTextBox” has “ScrollBars” set to Vertical. Please note that for my code to work, only one numerical statics function will work at one time. To find lowest number: To find highest number: Changing a variable name and changing the operator is all the modification needed so that our program returns the highest number opposed to the lowest number. Total: Our code is much more simple now. The difference between the above code and the code used to search highest/lowest number is that we do not need to copy valid input into a seprate list before we can do the nessossary comparision/calculation. Mean: We simply take the code used for total and modify one line of code. Median:

Hi all, fairly new to working with VB and struggling to find the right learning resources for this. I'm trying to set the width of a particular element depending on the value of the DataItem for that row but I don't really know how all the tags work properly. <asp:DataGrid ID="dgStaffCounts" runat="server" ShowHeader="False" AutoGenerateColumns="false" GridLines="none" CellSpacing="0" CellPadding="0" BorderWidth="0"> <Columns> <asp:TemplateColumn> <ItemTemplate> <div style="width: 110; margin-right: 5px; height: 16px; overflow: hidden" nowrap> <%# container.dataitem("Office") %> </div> </ItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateColumn> <asp:TemplateColumn> <ItemTemplate> <div style="height: 16; width: 100%; position: relative"> <div style="position: relative; top: 0px; left: 0px; height: 16px; z-index: 8; width: 155; margin-right: 5px; height: 16px; overflow: hidden; background-color: transparent; color: white" nowrap> <%# container.dataitem("StaffCount") %> </div> <% If Not (container.DataItem("StaffCount") = DBNull.Value) Then %> <div style="width: <% (container.dataitem("StaffCount") / MaxStaffCount) * 100 %>%; background-color: #80A8CC; overflow: visible"></div> <% End If %> </div> </ItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateColumn> </Columns> </asp:DataGrid> This line in particular is the one I'm struggling with: <% If Not (container.DataItem("StaffCount") = DBNull.Value) Then %> Where container has the error "'container' is not declared. It may be inaccessible due to it's protection level" So would someone be able to explain the differences between these tags and how they affect the availability of the container variable?: <% <%# <%= Thanks!

Hey guys! I was hoping someone might be able to give me a hand. A friend of my father's has a small business and he wants a way to manage the inventory. I've developed an application on VB.Net that accesses a local XML database (which, I know, is probably not the best solution performance-wise), and I'm in the process of optimising it. During this process, the client said he would like to access the inventory remotely, so as to be able to sell off-site, perhaps during business trips. Anyway, bearing in mind that the application hasn't been deployed yet, therefore no real data has been written to the database: do you think it'd be a good idea, if at all possible, to build a server and have it store the DB there? Maybe using SQL? I am definitely not a pro, so if anyone could point me in the right direction, I'd be very grateful. P.S., I've tried using a MS Access DB on my app, thinking I would gain performance, but I simply couldn't get it to work.

The title may be a bit misleading and if so I apologize I'm very new to programming, I've only learned some VB so far, but in my attempt to learn I try to program something different every day, Most of the time it's something simple, a Trivia question one day, a simple program that displays a message when started But today I wanted to try something a bit more difficult, I make a clock in VB and sync it to an online clock at http://www.time.gov/ I know how to make links to website in applications, but not sure how to have a program reach out to a website for certain information in this case a time I'm not sure how to do this, or if it's even possible in vb, if someone could help me out I'd greatly appreciate it

So for my final project in my computer programming class (visual basic...not by choice) i'm making a maze game type thing. like where you move with WASD controls and you have to make your way through a maze and the quicker you get through it the more points you get. i was thinking about making maybe like 6 levels and a score board and have it where you have to beat each level to move onto the next and each one you beat you get a rating of 1-3 stars. and each level is more difficult than the last. and each one would have different music playing. i was just wondering though if you guys had any ideas on what else i could add to this game to make it more interesting/ set it apart from others projects. thanks

I am trying to code a front-end for a SQL database in Visual Basic. I am having trouble writing a query that will take what is entered in a text box, and use it to search the database and return a list of all relevant items. Dim entry As String = txtbxMANU.TextNewreport("SELECT [Manufacturer] FROM [Instruments table] WHERE [Manufacturer] LIKE XXXXXX ") I wish to query the database for a manufacturer and produce a list of all items made by them. Any ideas on how I can do this? Is it simply a lack of knowledge of syntax or is there more to it? Cheers guys Mike

Hi, My name is Nick and i've got this great idea. If you look at this forum it's great! The ideas about the council and stuff are amazing but how will we manage such a large amount of players?! We could use the forum but how inconvienent is that? So I started thinking and I came up with something that could work! I know that there are probably some flaws in my reasoning but I'm open for suggestions! I imagine a application that runs on your pc that is connected to a main server You login and are connected to the system. It shows you notifications from the organization, your leader, the council,.. It will show all the players and their status (online, in-game,..) I know that a lot of you are saying that this will be done in-game.. eventually. But that's the thing, eventually... who knows how long it may take. We could use this to announce wars, mining operations, find people, chat with them much like in teamspeak with different channels. So i'm looking for people that are interested in this project, mostly people who are interested in coding this with me. I'm skilled in C# and VB so I can go either way. Please contact me on: skype: mr.gettingkilled email: nickjorens@gmail.com Here TL;DR: Looking for .net coders to code a LTT Conglomerate managing app!

Hi! So I want to use the streamwriter and reader without using the savefiledialog and openfiledialog. Basically what I have is a texteditor that is suppose to save a file without the user having to do anything(therefore I don't want the filedialogs). But basically there will be a timer running every 5 seconds and if there is a change in the textbox then it will write this change to a file that I will put in "C:\Program Files\Notes\autosave\FILENAME.txt" (FILENAME.txt will be the current date and time...) Then I want to be able to, if the program suddenly crashes or the user accidently shuts the program or computer off, turn the program on and then load the autosave. (With streamreader, without the openfiledialog) So, the program is based around being able to restart and then just start the program again and you have your info you typed up before the reboot still there without a manual save. But I cannot remember how the streamwriter and reader works... Remember that it's VB.NET, the language that requires the user to have net framwork. So no C# codes because the rest of the program is already done and I don't feel like redoing it all for C#... Thanks! Regards, Ludwig Johnson

Hi! So basically I need help with figuring out a code that will be executed by a timer that has an interval of 7 minutes. What this code will do is simply something small that will not bother the user and not interupt things like powerpoint presentations or youtube videos etc. But it will just do something that makes sure that the computer does not start it's screensaver. The reason for this is that on my school the teachers computers has some sort of lock on them from the IT dep. that basically makes it impossible (that I know of) to change the time for when the screen saver will be activated and when the screen goes to sleep. So basically what I want this program to do is to every 7 minute or so execute a code that does something small and not noticeble so it will not bother anyone but we can have powerpoints on for longer than 10 minutes without the screen going to sleep. (Mostly you go through several slides so often it's not a problem but when you stop for us students to write notes or the teacher is talking about what is on the screen then there are problems... The IT dep. on the school are morons and refuses to remove it, or they just don't know why it is there and just will not admit it? But I thought I'd do this to make life easier for the teachers on my school. As well us students.) Im programming VB.Net not C# or C++ or C... I have thought about implementing a timer that will be for 1 hour that simply will stop the other timer that makes the computer "remove" the screensaver because it will eventually have to go into screensaver mode and if you forget the program on then the one picture may hurt your screen. So it can be good to have that there. I will then add a reload button to simply reload the timers for another hour. Please ask me for more info if you want it. But really, Im the one who has the questions! So I really appreciate if someone helps! Regards, Ludwig Johnson

What I'm looking to do, is when I click a button I want to create a new button somewhere in the form. Heres what I have so far... Dim newButton = New Button Private Sub btn1_Click(sender As Object, e As EventArgs) Handles btn.Click newButton.Text = "New Button" newButton.Location.X = btn1.Location.X + 200 newButton.Location.Y = btn1.Location.Y + 200 End Sub When I click btn1 it errors out at... newButton.Location.X = btn1.Location.X + 200...? Where am I going wrong? I have a suspicion its somewhere in the creation of the "Private Sub..."
