Hi I'm currently building my first pc and I'm drifting towards linux as my OS as I really enjoy learning about computers and think it'd be a fun thing for me to do plus it just seems better then windows. That being said even though I can see linux gaming has come a long way I still want that safety net of gaming on windows as I would know any game I wanted to play would work unlike with linux where it seems it would probably work. So my question is would you recommend dual booting or using a VM I'm only running one graphics card so I'm not sure of the logistics of using a VM and I would rather not take the performance hit of using one if it is substantial or noticeable. However dual booting seems like a pain and since windows would only be for gaming, it also doesn't seem as practical or fun. I think my 2tb hard drive would negate the storage limitations of partitioning drives but it is still a factor. Any opinions would be appreciated and sorry for the lack on conciseness. Thank you

Alright so to make things quick, pc specs are i7 7700K and GTX 1080 STRIX OC version. I run my GPU, while gaming, at 120% power to get as much juice as possible since this card has an advertised 1920mhz OC but won't reach it unless the power figure is turned up and because it has 3 fans so it stays pretty cool. Anyways, what I'm noticing is that when I have v-sync on, my gameplay is typically locked to 75fps (75hz panel.... IT'S TEMPORARY GET OFF ME :P). I've noticed that just driving around in town that my fps will just drop to 60 or even sometimes below that. But when v-sync is turned off, it never goes below 69 (;P) fps from my last mission that goes from the docks to the inner city. So basically a demanding run. My turbo boost is the only that is "overclocked" on my i7. All stock specs since I'm on tower air for now. So, why is it when v-sync is off, that I get more fps? But when it's on, it can drop pretty damn harsh. This having single monitor performance and maximum performance preferred in the Nvidia Control Panel. Is this what a g-sync panel can fix I assume? I plan on getting one down the road.

i have 16gb of ripjaws v @ 3200mhz but with my game play recording and video editing and certain games i often hit 11 to 14gb of ram if i have a number of apps running etc etc. i wish to upgrade to 32gb of ram, can i just buy another dual channel kit and add it to the system or do i have to buy 32gb dual channel kit and sell my 16gb. Hello, I am not too familiar with Virtual Machines and I wanted to try Hyper V to test programs, but i had some questions before i tried it out. 1.Does adding a virtual machine ( of Windows 10 using Hyper V) slow down my computer when i do not have it opened. (Basically does it run in the background when i am not using it) 2. Are my specs fine to run it? (I have a AMD FX 6300 6 Core, 8gb ram, Powercooler Radeon r9 270, Windows 10 Pro, also i don't have an SSD so i'm not sure if that will be a big deal or not) 3. Can viruses from a VM be transfer to my main desktop? (Not that i am trying to download viruses but the programs i want to test i am testing to see if they do have viruses) 4. If in the the future i need more room on my computer am i able to delete the VM and the OS with it? Thanks in advance!!!

Hello, As the title states, I've spent months searching and trying different things/"solutions" and so far nothing worked, I'm getting 150+ FPS in single player and under 100fps in online (60 or less in full public lobbies with 25 players or more) with low GPU and CPU usage (40% max, usually in the 30%'s). Settings: Non-Steam/Social club version of GTA bought from Rockstar store directly 1920x1080 No AA and No FXAA No advanced graphic settings All settings set to normal and/or off, All sliders set to the lowest setting (aka lowest possible graphics settings from inside the game) Hardware: Asus Maximus VI Hero (Z87) with the latest bios 4770k@4.5ghz (Yes, It's stable and max temps are 75c) 16gb (2x8) 1600mhz DDR3 (Yes, They're installed in the correct slots for dual channel with XMP profile set in the bios) GTX 1080 (Installed correctly in the first 16x slot with the latest drivers and stable OC, max temps are 75c) Corsair RM850 (Yes, All the cables connected and seated correctly to the correct ports) Samsung 840Pro SSD which hosts my Windows and GTA Asus VG248QE 144hz 24" 1080p monitor connected via DVI to my GTX 1080 Windows 10 Pro 64bit currently and Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit previously FAQ answers: -Yes, I've cleared cache for both the game and windows and deleted the GTA folder inside the Documents folder. -Yes, I've verified the game files and reinstalled it on the old Windows 8.1 and on a clean Windows 10. -Yes, I'm using the latest drivers for all of my hardware. -Yes, I've tried DDU and older Nvidia drivers. -Yes, I've checked the background processes in case they're eating resources and none of them do other than GTA. -Yes, I've checked the OC settings, Temps, Fans, Fan curves, Bios settings, you name it. -Yes, I'm using high performance power plan. -Yes, I've set it to the power option to max performance in the Nvidia control panel. -Yes, I've set the pre-render frames to 1. -Yes, I've set the Physx to GTX 1080. -Yes, I've tried Windows 10 game mode ON and OFF -Yes, I've tried with Fullscreen, Windowed, Windowed borderless, No FPS difference. -Yes, I've tried V-Sync ON and OFF, No FPS difference in Online but with it Off the game menus lag. -Yes, I've checked my SSD performance and it's fine. -Yes, I've tried disabling hyper threading and it lowered my FPS. -Yes, I've tried all the possible Windows 10 compatibility settings and DPI settings and it only made it worse. -Yes, I've tried DX10, 10.1, 11. DX10 gives extra FPS but nothing major. -Yes, I'm getting fantastic performance/high FPS in other games (old and new) without any issues. -Yes, I need more than 120fps because with 144hz monitor 60-80 FPS is not a pleasant experience, Specially if you add the FPS drops and general lag of full GTA lobbies. -No, I will NOT upgrade my CPU and/or my GPU, I'm having performance problems with GTA and ONLY GTA. -No, I'm not the only one having this problem with GTA specifically, There's plenty of posts from people with better hardware and having the same issues and I've gone through most of those posts which is why I decided to add this FAQ answer section to save my time and yours and to also eliminate irrelevant questions/answers. -And finally, I saved the best for last: Yes, I've tried 800x600 all settings are low and/or off and I shit you not, Couldn't get 90fps in full lobbies. Questions: -What the actual fuck? -Are you getting high FPS (120+) in full lobbies? How? What hardware and OS are you using? -Any actual/non-turn it ON/OFF tier solution to this issue?

Hi everyone! So I'm new to the gaming pc world and was so excited to see just how much better it would be than console gaming. That was until I have had very low performance issues in Battlefield V. Specifically on the multiplayer side. I was so bummed to barely being able to keep a steady 50 fps in all of the games played even on a mix of high and med settings. I tweaked all of the settings in-game and in the nvidia control center that were recommended to maximize fps and performance. Also made sure to delete and reinstall all drivers and am updated to the latest windows 10 to access to dxr. Still no better than 50 fps.Should also mention that I have the resolution scale at 100% and the fullscreen resolution at 2560x1440p 120hz and all 4 options on the basic video settings to off. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Maybe it's on the games' side? Any info will help at this point, thanks ahead! these setups? Setups Budget is around 1000€. I'd be primary using it for video editing, at some point 4k also. I would blindly go for the better setup of these two but the price difference is 388 €.. Eventually some gaming also maybe, I have a Samsung U28E590D (4K 60hz), but I never play ultra graphics anything so could the 1060 handle it? Every answer will be much appreciated.

Hi there, Hi everyone i have a desperate question that needs to be answer ever since i played GTA V i always want a better gameplay full settings on graphics.So i usually make some tweaks on the graphic setting but my graphic card which is a 2gb 960 palit wont allow me too so what i always thought was if i get a graphic card which is lets say a Rx 480 which has 4gb would it help? Why? Well because if i turn the texture quality to max it eats up 1gb so my point is does a graphic card with alot of graphic memory help?

I don't know if this post is supposed to be here, but whatever. I installed gta v on my old laptop and it ate about 1.2GB of VRAM lowest settings, but on this new laptop it eats 2.8GB of VRAM on lowest settings. This laptop doesn't meet the minimum requierments but it works. (I am used to lower than 30 fps) The problem is that this laptop only has 2GB of VRAM on it and the textures don't load and all this stuff. Theese are the specs of the laptop: APU: AMD A8-5550G RAM: 4GB 1600Hz GPU: AMD HD 8670M 2GB How can I fix this?
