Bought a new gaming laptop: Hp victus 15 Specs: intel i5-13420H Nvidia RTX-3050(6GB) SSD 512GB Ram:8GB (Single stick) Problem: My friend with worse specs but 16GB ram has wayyy better performance than me. My fps drop a lot and my ram usage is around 80% while doing nothing and also the same while gaming. My GPU and CPU usage is very low (around 20-40%). Should I upgrade my ram to 16GB(dual stick) to fix the issue?

CPU-5900x GPU-7900xtx - xfx merc Mobo- Asus Prime x570-p RAM- T-Force - 32GB (2x 16) @ 3400mhz PSU- EVGA Supernova 1300 GT Gold SSD- Corsair MP600 Pro 2tb m.2 1440p Ultra / Max settings Hello All, I have a strange issue where in quite a few games my CPU and GPU utilization drops to sub 40-60% max. Two specific examples are in Day Z and Sons of the Forest. Day Z i typically get like 200fps but when i look at specific parts of cities my utilization drops to the above mentioned and my FPS tanks to like 80 and depending on the map 30fps. I have the same issue on Sons of the forest, when i am in caves or in open world on the beach i get 120-140fps but when i roam in the forest i cant seem to get over 65fps, where i have seen benchmarks of other people with the same setup getting 90-120 in the same areas. With those two examples i am seeing between 40%-80%ish drop in frames compared to similar setups. There are other games this happens in but those are the 2 most recent examples i have. Another example is my wife has my old 6800xt gpu with a 5600x and playing Valheim max settings 1440p (both comps), i literally get 10-20 less frames than her in dense wooded areas, but when we are sailing in the ocean i have 30ish frames more. Not sure what is going on. I recently upgraded from a 6900xt to the 7900xtx and this happened with the 6900xt as well, she was outperforming me in video games. Is my CPU bad? Possible bad motherboard? Memory controller issues? I have checked to see power draw while running benchmarks and i hit max power draw / utilization on both parts during synthetic benchmarks. sometimes even hitting over 400W on my GPU (standard is 350) so im not sure what the issue is. Initially My RAM was not set to 3400 and was sitting at 2800 in the bios (doing this helped a bit but only like 10%), I do not have DOCP activated. should i? Do i need faster RAM? Over 4G etc. is enabled and i am taking advantage of Smart Access Memory. My GPU and CPU are both just set to automatic overlock in the Radeon dashboard

Hi! I had already made a post on this a while ago but i mostly gave up on it but i am going to try again. In games like Anno 1800 GTA 5 and assassin's creed Valhalla i have my utilization at 80% utilization with my cpu less utilization than my gpu but in benchmarks it stays at 100%. My thoughts on it are that maybe my gpu is not trying hard because i am running it on a 1080p monitor? specs: rtx 3060 ti ryzen 5 2600 overclocked to 3.95ghz 2x8gb or ram at 3200 mhz in duel channel

Hi there. I just build a new PC for my brothers last week. The problems start when they start playing game. The framerate I got is incredibly low for the hardware I put in. The spec are as follow. CPU: Ryzen 5 2600 (Stock cooler) GPU: GTX 1070ti MB: Steel legend B450 PSU: 750 watt gold Monitor: 1080p 240hz w/ G-sync Here is result, Solution I've tried and me running out of idea of what's to fix. In Valorant I've got on average 120 fps on everything on low with frame occasional frame drop to around 50 fps. For CSGO on everything on low I also got around 180 fps on average, Apex legend I've got around 100 fps. Every game with V-sync off. Window lasted version, Newest Nvidia driver and AMD Chipset firmware installed. When I check with Task Manager, MSI Afterburner, Zotac GPU software all of these software reported around 30-50% usage on CPU and 20-50% utilization on GPU only. I tried set Power option to Maximum, Ultimate power and it helps a bit. I tried swapping GPU to another computer with Ryzen 3 4350 and the problem is still here. This 2 PC run on Window home installed from the same thumbstick and logged in to the same account. Even with Aorus 1080ti, this computer refuse to utilize both GPU and CPU to it's potential and fps is almost the same as 1070ti in every game. I know that this card can run better than this because this Zotac 1070ti used to be paired with Intel i5 8600 and every game I've mentioned above run smoother with higher fps on 1440p than the current setup with 1080p. I can only force GPU and CPU to run above 80% in Benchmark and mining (I don't mine, I just wanted to see if the PSU limits the available power and maybe that's why it can't run at 100%) Have I done something wrong during a window installation process? Are there any setting I must change? Please, I have reinstall window on 4350 one once already and it improved nothing. I have no idea what's to change anymore. If you need any information please, I will get back to you as soon as possible. Thank you. Ake-danai P.S. English is not my first language. Sorry for my poor English.

I have a RTX 2070 Super and an i7-6700K cpu and 16gb of 3200mz ram. I was playing Mordhau and noticed I kept freezing at seemingly random intervals, so I opened up task manager on a second monitor to see if I could notice anything that could help me diagnose the problem. My GPU was constantly at around 90% utilization while the cpu hovered around 60%. However when the freezes would happen the cpu utilization would shoot up (not sure if it is the cause or a result) and the gpu will drop. TLDR; My cpu only has 4 cores at 4.00 GHz, is this problem a indicative of not having enough cores or lanes? I've been thinking about upgrading my Cpu for awhile but felt like I didn't know enough to make a decision. If so which cpu should I look out for (I know stock is hard to come by I mean just to keep an eye out for). Thanks

PC Specs: CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 GPU: RTX 3070 (MSI GeForce RTX 3070 Ventus 2X OC 8GB) Ram: 16GB 2133mhz PSU: 550W (https://www.thermaltake.com.au/litepower-rgb-550w-230v.html) SSD I'm having a highly annoying issue where when playing Cyberpunk (and other games) I'm only receiving 65-70 FPS at 50% GPU utilization (checked in MSI afterburner and RTSS), low settings and at 1080p. I have tested it to the lowest resolution that I possibly could go to and I still get 65 FPS but only at 30% GPU utilization. Here are some screenshots at the lowest of the low graphical settings: (https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/1651097315960387241/0CD5C4990281E21C0F7F20368839D146909F4A20/) (https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/1651097315960383298/FC3C383799987666414CB59B518A1DC418949731/) I then set my game to ultra with DLSS off and immediately the usage of my GPU goes up to 100 and stays at 70 - 60 fps. How am I able to get my game use the extra GPU that it has to push my FPS higher on low settings to match my monitor hertz of 144? Let me start with what I have done: Overclocked my GPU + 200mhz Disabled G-Sync Overclocked my CPU to check if it was a bottleneck (CPU only uses around 60 - 70% when playing) Used DDU to uninstall my drivers and then reinstalled from Nvidia website. Installed Cyberpunk on my SSD Set computer to High Performance and in the control panel, set 3D settings at prefer maximum performance, as well as for cyberpunk itself. Set DWM.exe and CSRP.exe to maximum performance to stop hogging up all my GPU usage. Followed reddit post- I am very happy to purchase another higher wattage PSU (if that is the problem) to give my video card its maximum performance since I payed a huge amount of money for it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks :).

Hey everyone So i bought a 3070 and it arrived yesterday and i installed in my PC. I uninstalled my amd driver and installed my nvidia driver. But i have a problems (obviously). My Utilization, GPU Clock and Mem Clock spike all the time. So first of all My specs are: Asus RTX 3070 Dual OC, B450 Tomahawk (not the max version), Ryzen 5 3600, 16gb ram. Before i had a RX Vega 56. Now, some informations about the problem. When i'am on a screen where nothing really happends like here right now, writing this post, everything is fine. My Utilization is at like 1-2%, my gpu clock is at 210 and my mem clock is at 405. Even if a Stream is running in the background in a different tab. But when i switch Tabs my Utilization spikes 25-45% like you can see in the picture below, those spikes happend now just by switching between tabs. GPU Clock and Mem Clock stays at 210mhz and 405mhz. . Also when I'am on my Desktop and the GPU is at 1-2% and then i start and hold my left mouse button and draw squares then it also starks spiking. If i watch a Stream (only if the Stream is in a open tab) it looks like this. When I'am on Twitch Channel that is offline it looks like this. Also Youtube videos are bit more laggy some times. At one point so far this happend, the Picture of the Video stops/freezed all the time but the Audio keeps playing for a sec and then it catches up again, and then Audio cuts out a bit. So it was really janky. And a few times it happend now that Videos take like 2sec to load when i skip around. And some other times it works normally where i can skip arround and it just works fine without lag or anything. Here is how it looks when i watch a Youtube Video and it load after i skipped, in the middle where i suddenly goes down for a bit switched tabs. And at the end i opened like 16 videos and let them run. When I'am Streaming (OBS running), my Capture Card is running, 2 Streams are running (in open tabs), it looks like this. And my GPU Clock is at 1770 and my Mem clock on 6800. So i would think that theoretically it should be worse here, since i have 2 Streams running and OBS which is running the Stream and my Capture Card, but its runs pretty fine. I ask around a bit and some people say that is completely normal. But someone that talk with me about it, ask his friend who has a 3070 and when he has Twitch open he has only around 2-10% https://i.imgur.com/2k63p03.png (kept is as a link because its a bit bigger.) With my RX Vega 56, i also only had like 5-10% while watching streams oder videos. I also tried turning of Hardware Acceleration in Chrome, because someone said that that could help, but nothing changed really. So now i'am wondering... is this normal? Or is it not? What could be the problems, how could i fix it? Someone said thats its maybe the Drivers? I was also wondering if i should maybe Soft Reset for my Pc, like deleting all the software etc but keeping my private data, because maybe there are some drivers or something left from AMD that didn't got completely deleted and causes problems? So yeah... I hope someone can help me here. P.S while i'am here and at it, i was wondering if i could use MSI Afterburner to lower my Powr Limit to like 40-60%, to save some power if i don't need it. Or if that could cause problems, like damaging the GPU, because it's not supposed to be doen? Thanks in advance^^

Hi guys, i have this problem back when i am using a rtx2080 and now i switch to a 3090 but still exist . In Rainbow Six seige this game specific the gpu utilization is kept at 92%and 93% and no further higher. And also specific in seige the gpu clock is relatively low and i have no idea while other games like assaassin creed, watchdog legion, cod17 are running 1900mhz+. It is really strange since other 3a games are runing normally and also other fps game like cod17 is also normal running 95%~97%, and clock aroun 1950mhz I just wanna know why seige is runing at this 92%,theoretically it can run higher % and also higher clock speed,Do anyone playing seige of faceing same problem have a explanation or fix,Thanks My specs are: CPU: 5800X MB:Rog Strix x570 F PSU:1000w LEADEX GPU:Zotac 3090 trinity RAM :3800 c18 32gb Monitor:1440p

Hello, new here. Not sure if im on the right thread or form. But anyways, i have: Ryzen7 2700 6900xt asrock phantom Corsair rm850 G.skill 2x16gb X570s tomahawk max wifi Just recently swapped my previous gpu (rtx 2060 6gb Phoenix) to the now 6900xt. Bottleneck calculator and pcpartpicker said that my cpu would be Bottlenecked by 6%. After using ddu to remove nivida drivers and using amd adrenaline to install amd drivers, the game i play has roughly the same performance as my old previous 2060 ran (game: scum) on low settings. When running unigine haven it says that my gpu utilization is at 99% and my cpu bounces between 11% and 17%. Is this normal of a cpu that according to sites should be Bottlenecked by my 6900xt? And any idea why im not seeing much of a framrate increase in the game i typically play? Any information is helpful. This is the first pc ive assembled. Thanks!

Hi everybody, I've got a question for y'all. Does anybody have any ideas as to why my GTX 1070 isn't being fully utilized in Fallout 4, despite the fact that the game is running well below its FPS cap of 60 (due to Vsync on my 60hz monitor)? My apologies for the rather long post, I wanted to make sure I included every piece of information that I thought could possibly be relevant. If I did miss anything that y'all need to know, just let me know and I'll come back and add it in. Notes: Game settings are basically maxed out, with a few exceptions for stuff I either don't like or don't find makes enough of a difference to warrant the potential performance hit. I am running 23 different mods on the game with ModOrganizer2 from Nexus Mods, but this problem also occurs with no mods enabled. This happens both at stock speeds and while overclocked with Afterburner (112% power limit, 85C temp limit, software defined fan curve, automatic "OC Scanner" curve overclock on the GPU core, and +200MHz on the memory). The data I have from last night's gaming session is with the OC applied, I can gather data from stock speed operation if that is necessary. I know that the card is not thermal throttling, as my software fan curve has it peaking at 65C in-game, and normally hovering right around 57C. The max temp it got to during a 3hr FO4 session last night was 61.2C with a hotspot of 72.2C, and that's with my OC applied. I also don't think my i7-3770 CPU is holding it back (although I could be wrong), as I don't ever see full utilization of any of the 8 threads while playing FO4, even while running Steam, Task Manager, HWINFO, Afterburner, Discord (on voice but not streaming or watching a stream, and nobody had their cameras on), and Firefox with a few tabs open all in the background or on other displays. I do have and use Winaero Tweaker (version 1.33.0.0), I have used it to: Disable Telemetry Disable Edge prelaunching and Edge tab preloading Disable the Windows Ink workspace Disable Cortana Tell Windows to keep the thumbnail cache on a restart or shutdown Disable Timeline Disable Power Throttling Make the taskbar clock show seconds Disable driver updates (since Windows decided to disrespect my group policy that forbade it from doing anything with drivers without direct permission!) Hi guys, Since a week Windows has startet to fully utilize my SSD. The Task that is utilizing it is ''Servicehost: Local system'' (don't know how it's named properly, german name is ''Diensthost: Lokales System''). I'm starting to worry that something is very wrong, since it's mostly writing and not reading. Thanks for answers or suggestions

Okay so this is stressing me out. Is what the CPU doing normal for Skylake? http://imgur.com/a/3QhFz I ran a 3770K previously and I dont remember the utilization chart to be so... jittery when idle. CPU speeds seem to vary wildly from 1.24 GHz to 4 GHz. Again, this is during idle. Something is up and it's driving me nuts

I currently have a i5-4690K running at 3.50GHz but when I start to play games my CPU utilization skyrockets from a steady 30% to a constant 70%. was wondering what I would need to change about my CPU when I upgrade, if I should upgrade, to reduce that number as I want to start doing more things that require high CPU utilization such as streaming and music creation.

Peaking as high as 100% (this happening only when flying above the map) Any suggestions? Is this something wrong with my GPU?

Quick Question Guys: I Have An i5-7400. 3ghz Stock - 3.5 Boost 4 Core/ 4 Thread So, I Bought A PC Second Hand And Cleaned It Up. It Works Great Except For One Thing. The CPU Is Always At 100% Even When Playing Minecraft Win10 Edition On The Lowest Setting. Is It A Faulty CPU Or Is It Just A Crappy CPU? I've Never Had Such A Slow CPU When Gaming. On The Bright Side, It Never Gets Hot. Even At 100% Load It Never Goes Above 50°C. But Even Then, It's Just So... Bad Also To Note, The Previous Owner Never Cleaned It And I Pulled An Extremely Thick Ring Of Dust Off The CPU Cooler When I Cleaned It. Could The Heat Have Damaged It? Because It Was Bad... Very Bad.. Like Worse Than That Time Linus Done That PC Cleaning Video A Couple Years Back. I Had To Wear A Mask Just To Open It.

Since anniversary update (around October-ish) my ryzen 1600 build has had an issue in where my the operating system would become unresponsive for a brief period of time. This would occur around every 8-15 minutes. So i reinstalled windows to creators update (the original one since i didn't have fall creators iso on hand) and the issue still persisted. I also installed the ryzen chipset drivers) So i updated by bios to the latest (it's a Gigabyte ab350 gaming 3) and the issue persisted. So i reinstalled windows again to the latest 1803 and checked task manager and found that the task known as system was pinning my ssd to 100% causing the issue every 8-15 minutes or so. I checked on ubuntu and no such issue occurred at least on my hdd. Could my ssd be failing? I purchased it in December of 2016.

Hey, anyone willing to help, would be greatly appreciated. I seem to be either overthinking or misunderstanding the results in a recent test done by Luke in 'The Workshop' series. I spent a good 2 hours looking in-depth into Hyperthreading, which was very interesting. But in the process, I seemed to have fried my brain. By that I mean I don't understand the results on the 7-Zip Benchmark... Why are the two VM's running simultaneously, getting way over half the score of one? (30% at least) I don't understand the scaling. Are the two VM's running at the same time forcing the CPU to utilize more resources and therefore yielding a better result? (in-ratio) For instance @ 4:29, that could represent the default 7-Zip benchmark running on one VM. And @ 4:32 could represent both VM's running simultaneously. This is probably blindingly obvious to someone, if so don't be afraid to point out! Cheers

Greetings LTT Community, I'm new to the forum so here goes my first post. I recently consolidated all of my PC's (2x desktops) and laptops (4x laptops) into a single beefy laptop that I purchased from Xidax (XM-11 model which is practically a re-branded Sager NP987OU2-G Linus reviewed here: Specs CPU - Intel i7-6700K @ 4.0GHz GPU - 2x Nvidia GTX980M SLI RAM - G.Skill Ripjaws DDR4 @ 2800 64GB SSD Set 1 - 2x Samsung 950 PRO 512GB m.2 in RAID 0 SSD Set 2 - 2x Samsung 850 EVO 1TB SATA in RAID 1 OS - Windows 10 PRO Screen - 1920x1080 w/ G-Sync @ 75GHz WLAN - Killer 1535 802.11ac adapter LAN - Dual Killer E2400 10/100/1000 adapters 1x USB 3.1 Type C 6x USB 3.0 1x HDMI 2.0 (Or 1.4, I forget) 2x Mini Display So here is my inquiry, I'm trying to figure out if I wasted money on the m.2 SSD for faster speeds to the OS as they utilize 4x PCI-E lanes each for a total of 8 lanes. The Intel i7-6700K CPU only has 16 lanes per the Intel ARK. So my drives are already utilizing 50% of my lanes. Unknown in the Nvidia website or their own forums can I find information on how many lanes the GTX980M utilizes each much less in SLI mode as I have them currently. Anyone have an idea as to what that answer would be? Am I possibly trying to over utilize the lanes or wasting performance and need to cut back on my m.2 drives? As fast as it is I'm loving the drives but willing to give 1 or both up if need to since the CPU has a limited number of lanes.

cpu maxing out at 22% utilization with low temps
flams_and_diddles posted a topic in Troubleshooting
Specs: i5-4690k with stock cooler 750 ti windforce ASRock z97 anniversary atx motherboard 8gb ddr3-1600 ram samsung 850 evo ssd and wd blue hard drive Corsair cx430m power supply windows 10 I haven't overclocked anything before, and I recently tried to overclock my 750 ti, and it was going well until I tried running 3D mark fire strike, and my score was 3127. A couple weeks ago when I last ran it I got a 4084. I looked at the details, and my graphics score was higher, but the physics score was wayyy lower than it was before. So I tried cinebench, and my score was way lower than before too. I ran cinebench a while ago and got a 544 on the cpu test, and now I'm getting around 110 from several tests. I opened task manager to see if anything weird was going on, and while running cinebench, my cpu utilization was maxing out at 22%. I turned off of my overclock and set all the settings back to default, then I restarted my computer and tried cinebench again, and nothing changed. I wondered if maybe the cpu was thermal throttling for some reason, but my temps were staying in the mid 30's. What's causing my cpu to run like that and how can I fix it? Thanks for any help.-

Hey! So my friend built his PC 8ish months ago and has recently been noticing that, as the title has indicated, every application is running slower than it should and task manager is reporting that the RAM util. is as high as 98% at idle even after a cold boot. Now, before you all yell at me, I know windows likes to use all of the ram it can get, but it will usually give some back to applications that need it, right? Specs: i5-4690k Gigabyte GA-Z97MX ASUS Geforce GTX 770 2 x 4GB HyperX Fury 1866 DDR3 Sandisk 128GB SSD (Fresh Install Of Windows Just Days Ago) The thing that tipped me off to this not being normal is the fact that he said that everything is running slowly. I have essentialy the same computer, just a level or generation up from his (specs on my profile) and have never experienced anything like this that wasn't fixed by a restart. Is this not normal, or am I going crazy? I'm getting him to run memtest86 overnight just as a safegaurd

Today I played some Planetside 2 on my new PC, featuring an i5 4690k, and it ran without any issues for about 1-2h, then I got a massive FPS drop. When I checked Intel Tuning Utility I noticed that the CPU utilization went down to about 20-50% about the same time I lost half my FPS. It's not overclocked, nothing else than Steam, TS, EVGA Precision and the Intel Utility running in the background. Energy Settings were at High Performance. Any ideas why the utilization went down? Thanks in advance!
