I've had my build for about a year and a half but, for about a month now, nothing that I insert into my front panel USB ports are recognized. Things are sometimes recognized for a very brief period following a restart, but not always. I've mostly been testing the ports with flash drives that work just fine on my laptop. I've also tried plugging my phone in and it does begin to charge, but I get a message to check the connection and it still doesn't show up for data transfers. If it's a hardware issue, how would I tell if the issue is with my MOBO or my case? Hey friends, I have a problem with my Gigabyte motherboard. When my device is turned on and I connect a USB device to it, I do not see any reaction, As if they were broken. But if I connect my USB device when the device is turned off and then turn on the device or restart the system after connecting it, they will recognize and they work successfully! I have no idea what the problem is I am happy for your help!

From what i see the corsair 5000x rgb case has 2x usb 3.0 ports and 1 usb 3.1 type C port and the motherboard ROG STRIX Z590-A has 2x 2.0 usb connector and a 3.2 connector and a 3.2 usb type c connector. would i need adapters for all the usb connectors so the front panel usb work? or how could i make them work? or the usb 3.1 type C fits in the 3.2 usb type C connector?

Last night for some reason my mouse stopped working. I figured I'd check it out this morning. As far as I can determine the USB port is both alive and dead. Hear me out. I plug something simple into it, say to charge a device the port works fine. If I need two way communication (keyboard, mouse, phone for moving info) it doesn't pick it up. As this happened my 5.0 GPS network port stopped working, 2.5 still works. This is on an ASUS ROG X570 Crosshair VIII Hero motherboard. Any ideas or time to call ASUS and say hello warranty!

I have a gaming laptop ( Acer Nitro 5) and it has only 3 usb ports, and I want to plug a mouse, a keyboard, a headset and a cooler. Each of these can be connected only via usb, but the cooler has a build in extra usb port. Should I plug my mouse or keyboard or headset into that port, or the latency would be to big?

Dear techies, I recently got a new mouse (a Razer viper 8k) and out of the box it had no issues. However after a couple of weeks it stopped working on startup (The mouse doesn't seem to get power, for the LED doesn't work either). I have to unplug and re-plug the mouse for it to work like normal. Switching USB-ports does not prevent the issue from happening again when rebooting. Only my mouse is acting this way. I am running windows 10 pro on a more than capable system. This issue has occurred in the past, but that was on a different machine, when my keyboard was having such issues. If anyone could help me out, I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi guys, so i'm planning to build a gaming pc. The gaming pc's case is Lian Li 011D XL or 011D and with a motherboard Asus Tuf Gaming X570-plus (wifi). There are some ports at the front of the case and I'm just wondering if it fits or the motherboard can completely make use of the usb ports infront. As in are there enough usb ports in the motherboard for the Case to connect to? Wish to hear your response, thank you. Lian Li 011D: USB3.0 x2 , HD Audio USB3.1 Type-C x1 , HD Audio Lian Li 011D XL: 4 X USB 3.0 (2 on the front, 2 at the front case feet), 1 X USB 3.1 TYPE-C, 1 X HD AUDIO Motherboard: Idk how to read, sorry bought that. https://www.asus.com/sg/Motherboards/TUF-GAMING-X570-PLUS-WI-FI/specifications/ 1st question:) I'm wondering if my Asus tuf gaming x570-plus (wifi) motherboard has enough usb ports internal for the case to connect to? 2nd question:) Can someone teach me how do i read why are they writing USB Ports, Back I/O Ports and Internal I/O Ports? So basically one of the metal tabs on my io shield is actually on top of the usb port. http://imgur.com/WHbH2OL (On the usb 3.1 slot) I'm just curious if this is likely to cause issues at all? I don't need to use the port really so would be happy to leave it. Thanks for any responses.

so about a month ago i did an update on my pc (i cant remember what update, if it was a nvidia, or bios, or what cant remember) but since i did the update, my 3.1 gen 2 usb port on my asus prime z370-a stopped working. it was working perfectly fine before hand. Ive been into device manager and i don't think i can even find it. anyone got any solutions. Ive thought about doing a fresh install of windows but 1 i don't think it will do anything and 2 i don't want to loose files and stuff like that. (also the reason why i didn't sort this out earlier is i use my pc every day and i didn't want to fuck anything up

Hello everyone. I have a 1 month old Gigabyte B450 Gaming X motherboard with Ryzen 5 3600 CPU. The PSU is Antec 550W. It was running fine until a few days ago. A few days ago my USB WiFi adapter suddenly started acting up.. it would disconnect and reconnect whenever there was heavy network usage. I thought the adapter was faulty and so threw it in the bin and got a new one. It was running fine until this too exhibited the same symptoms. So I suspected power issues and plugged in an external hard drive. The drive didn't spin up. Tried all ports. So I got my USB tester and found at every port the no load voltage was around 5V. But whenever even any moderate load is connected like a USB light, the voltage drops below USB specifications. I tried a dummy load of 10 ohm to simulate 0.5A draw, but the voltage reduced to almost 1.5V and even the keyboard and mouse dropped out until reboot. Only keyboard and mouse work right now due to low power requirements. Even USB drives don't work. Thought it was the PSU but 5V line is reported okay and I also tested with multimeter. Tried clearing CMOS and downgrading BIOS. Same problem. Please advise.

Hello guys, I wonder if there's a way to power on and off USB ports from Windows or Linux. I have to keep the machine up and running 24/7 but the USB ports power needs to go through cycles to charge some devices. The usb ports must be powered for 10 hours and then 14 hours off. Is there any software that can do this?

Hey guys. So got a rather unusual situation. On my old computer, one of the USB 2.0 ports had come loose in the socket, but it still worked. But one day when I unplugged my external hard drive from that socket, the loose port came with it, and I can't get it out. I've spent hours searching for help on this, but it looks like no one else has had this problem! So I was hoping someone here might have an idea. Here's a pic which will hopefully make it clearer. It's a 3.0 USB port, the black (top) is the loose port that shouldn't be in there.

Hi, I was using my computer today and I was listening to music, Suddenly the music stops and my computer says that the internet was plugged out (i was using a phone hotspot with usb) and then it re-connected itself and then I continued to listen to music and my headset lets off a very loud glitchy type sound and keeps doing it every few seconds. And then whilst that was happening my keyboard and mouse just shut off, I tried unplugging and plugging back in the keyboard mouse and headset but they had all just stopped working, no lights or anything. I had restarted my computer and the headset was still making glitching sounds but my keyboard and mouse were working. after changing my audio to the speakers from the headset and then back, There is no more glitchy sounds coming from the headset but as i am typing this my internet is disconnecting and re connecting over and over. So a while ago i got a hard drive for school, since i chose game design to study - meaning i needed a lot of storage. I got a 1tb WD External Hard Drive and after 4 months, it stopped working. But it kind of didn't stop working. In college, i used 7 different computers in college, a fuck ton of different USB ports, and 3 different cables (one was new) and the computer's weren't recognising my hard drive. it was getting powered as indicated from the light, but it just wasn't being recognised. The same story at home... Except, when i put it through the usb port in my keyboard it works perfectly fine. And i'm baffled. I haven't dropped it, there's no sound that is coming out of the hard drive, the motor sounds like it's working but... just dont work in computers, just a Corsair keyboard...

Hi there, Recently I just came back from doing the extra life 24 hour fundraiser. I brought my PC with me and everything was working fine at the event. (Which was a total blast by the way) When I returned home, and after some sleep I put everything back where it was supposed to be. Connected everything up and went to turn it back on. And I noticed my keyboard wouldnt power up. Its a Logitech G19s. When its plugged into the front USB port, it works fine so the keyboard is working. Also I cant plug two devices into the same collection of ports in the back. IE the two USB 3 cant be populated at the same time. Ive been searching around for something close to my problem. Ive tried a few things already. Different ports, different devices, uninstalling the driver in device manager for the USB ports/hub/etc, checked all the connections in my PC, looked for new motherboard drivers, reinstalled the chipset INF. Im at a total loss. Im hoping I can get some help here. =( OS: Windows 10 64 Mobo: Gigabyte Z97X Gaming 5 Ram: 16GB Corsair Vengence 2133mhz CPU: Intel i7 4790k @ 4ghz Video: 2x MSI GTX 980

So, I've had an HTC One m7 since around august of last year, and for the most part, it's been pretty good, particularly after I installed a custom rom and improved my batter life. This was until two weeks ago, when I wanted to transfer some music to the phone. I was having issues with it not showing up in explorer (not something that new). I decided I'd try plugging it into my USB hub. I did, it didn't work, and I noticed the cable was a little warm. I unplugged it from the phone, and discovered that there was a billow of smoke and some melted plastic. The odd thing is, other then the internals of the port being a little melted, the phone charges fine, and syncs more or less fine. As such, I sort of wanted to get another opinion on whether I should keep and continue to use the phone or if I should try and return/replace the phone from where I purchased it. EDIT - I failed to mention before, but I was using HTC's official cable. Also, sorry for the horrible pun.

Hi! (PC-windows 7) My USB port does not work anymore BUT only for my USB keys and my printer. It works fine with my keyboard, mouse and headphones. I've try everything... but I can't find the problem. I tried a "fix device" and it didn't work as well, and also, i didnt change anything on my computer. The Device Manager said that my usb keys are an "Unknown Device". (tried to unistall et put it back... didnt work...). So yes, my computer cannot recognize the device... (was looking for the driver, but i couldnt find one also... is that the problem: the driver?) Can somebody help me with this problem? Thank a lot!
