I just completed my PC build and now after powering up I can’t get my case fans to spin. I am using the LIAN Li uni fan SL-inf 120 and the included usb connector hub. I have 2 groups of 3 case fans ran into the hub as well as my AIO fans. My AIO fans are working as expected (I can change the RGB and fan speed) but my case fans do not light up or spin. I have tried using the L-connect software my motherboard bios and it did not help. If I select the “All Full Speed” option only my AIO fans ramp up. I have the hub connected to the following headers on the Motherboard: USB (connected to two separate headers), SYS_FAN2, JRGB_V2_1 and I have it connected to 2 SATA power connectors. The fans are plugged into ports 1 and 2 while the AIO fans are plugged in the 3ed. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong? Let me know if you need more info and thanks in advanced! I need advice on What Powered USB Hub i should buy for the job... I have two webcams and when i try to use my second webcam at the same time within OBS STUDIO i start to get a lot of strange artificing and glitching, I've been told this is caused by usb overload as if there's not enough power to power everything via USB ports on the MOBO, Yes both Webcams are powered via USB 3.0 ports but i am still getting the weird glitching/atificting... Sad part is i have removed other devices from usb ports and still having this issue so is it really both of these webcams are consumer all of the power and that i may need to attempt to try getting and using a Powered USB Hub? I have the Logitech Brio and the Insta360 Link thats the two webcams i am currently trying to use together within OBS, it works its just i get a lot of artifacting ang glitching so am hoping theres a way i can have them and my peripherals all working together even if it means i need a powered usb hub??? I hope someone can give me some good advice. Also Merry Christmas Everyone

My keyboard and mouse is plugged into 2 USB hubs: USB 3.0 switch that's plugged to... HDMI KVM switch (with USB 2.0) My 2015 Macbook Pro has a separate USB hub for itself (not willing to shell out for a Thunderbolt 2 hub). The only time it wakes up is if I plug the USB from the KVM switch to the Macbook Pro directly. Doesn't seem to work when I plug it in directly to the switch. Any ideas why that's the case, and if there's a way to fix it? Main reason why I have a dedicated switch is because my work M1 Max Macbook Pro doesn't work with my KVM switch's USB 2.0 and I'm very lazy (and found USB 3.0 switch on a deal), and my PC as it's not plugged to the KVM switch, but directly to the monitor via DisplayPort.

Using Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 on win 11, when I plug in headphones and change audio output, the settings page freezes. Built in speakers and choosing monitor as output always have monitor outputting audio. Choose plugged in headphones, freeze. Can't use headphones. Monitor is plugged in via Type C hub to HDMI. Anyone know a fix? Super annoying.

Hi everyone, I habe this old Usb2 Hub that I want to reuse, and it has a weird USB cable to connect to my PC. It basically forks into 2 USB headers (see pic), I was wondering why it was like this, should plug both to my PC? Will I get faster data transfer or is it useless?

Is there a USB3 hub that has dedicated USB2 controllers? Issue -> All USB2 devices = 480Mbps I have a ton of USB2 devices, but they're all bandwidth constrained on the 480Mbps bus. Even on USB3 ports, USB2 devices only use the USB2 pins. If I plug them into different ports on my computer, it doesn't matter because I have a max of 3 USB controllers on my board, and one of those is in the front of my case (which I don't want to use for this). Multiple USB2 controllers for USB3? Since I have 10-20Gb per USB3 controller of bandwidth, is it possible there's a USB hub out there which converts USB2 devices to USB3? That'd be plenty of bandwidth for both my USB2 and USB3 devices. I'm assuming this exists because I know there are dedicated PCIe cards that do the same thing. Is USB-C a solution? This system does not have Thunderbolt, but it does have 10Gb and 20Gb USB-C. I know that USB-C has 2 sets of USB2 data-pins, so maybe that doubles the available bandwidth? Does anyone know? I do have USB-C USB2 hubs.

I need some serious help and guidance here. What I fundamentally want to do, is add an in-desk USB Hub (like a grommet) to expand my USB capabilities on my Desktop. I have a finite of USB ports (2x 2.0 - these are for Keyboard and Mouse), 2x 3.2 Gen 1 and 2x 3.2 Gen 2) ports on my MB but I need more. I am studying my degree in digital media, and aside from the keyboard and mouse, I have a: C922 Pro Webcam, Desktop Light, Boom Mic, Wacom Graphic Tablet, Brother printer and a Headset that I need to run simultaneously. I don't recall the LTT guys ever running a segment on hardware like this, but if they have PLEASE direct me to that!!! The obvious answer would be to use the ones on the front, HOWEVER, I wish to refrain from having too many cables in the front of my tower, as you could understand. Can anyone help me here and direct to what I could get for something like this? Issues: - Don't care if it sits on Desktop, Mounted or otherwise - I live in Australia, so please do not suggest places in the US that I cannot access. I am looking for products not store locations. - Specifically looking for something that isn't bulky Specifications: (GPU in process of Upgrade) Component Selection CPU AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 3.7 GHz 12-Core Processor CPU Cooler Cooler Master A71C 38.99 CFM CPU Cooler Motherboard Asus TUF GAMING B550M-PLUS WIFI II Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard Memory G.Skill Ripjaws V 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory Storage Gigabyte GP-GSTFS31240GNTD 240 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive GPU ASUS RX580 8GB Case Thermaltake Versa H17 MicroATX Mini Tower Case Power Supply Corsair RM750 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply Operating System Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM - DVD 64-bit

Okay so the back of my computer is full and I'm thinking about getting a USB 3.0 hub to expand it. I'll list the stuff I've got and how many USB plugs it uses: Keyboard - 2 USB Headphones / DAC - 1 USB Mouse - 1 USB External 2 TB Harddrive - 1 USB External 1 TB SSD - 1 USB Mouse Pad that lights up - 1 usb Total = 7 USB used and the back only has 6 USB holes and only two of them are USB 3.0. The front of my computer also has 1 usb 3.0 and 1 usb 2.0 port. but stuff seems to disconnect when I use them and also it just looks ugly... Do I get a USB 3.0 Hub like a £10 anker one from amazon, do I get a £29.99 powered USB hub or do I just get a pcie to usb 3.0 and use that? Thanks for the help

I’m trying to find a USB hub to put my user interface device on. All the devices are USB 2.0. The devices I would like to have connected are as follows; Wireless Corsair Mouse (Ironclaw) Wireless Corsair Headset (Virtuoso) USB Charging cable with data 1-2x (for charging wireless devices above) Xbox One wireless controller adapter I have a 4 port USB 3.0 hub but when connecting the devices referenced above they start lagging tremendously like mouse skipping, audio cut outs, short term controller disconnections, and so on. The thing I do find interesting though is the 2 port USB 3.0 hub on my monitor does not suffer from these problems. Currently I have the mouse and headset transmitters connected to the monitor and they work fine. But I would like to be able to have the charger cables be on a hub with the the wireless transmitter as they would not be using traffic at the same time as the transmitters. But I would also like to be able to have that Xbox controller adapter connected as well simply so I don’t have to use my front panel connector. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Powered would be a plus. 4-6 ports would be nice but I’m also open to using multiple 2 port hubs if they would be low latency.

I have a problem with my 3x Corsair light node pro setup. When i load animated lighting effects on more than one rgb port the effects will lag till one controller crashes. I think the bandwith from one usb 2.0 connector is just not enough to run three light nodes, so because my mainboard (aorus x399 gaming7) has not that many internal usb connectors i planed to use a 4 port usb 3.2 gen 1 hub connected to the usb 3.2 gen 2 port on my mainboard. But i dont know if the light nodes can use the bandwith because they are only usb 2.0

Hi I looked around forum and found a great post but. it is a bit old and I was suggested to make a new one. in the older post someone said to buy a pcie multiport chip. I am looking for one but my mouse and keyboard receiver don't like to be plugged on the back it starts lagging and what not. is there any good multi port hubs for front panel or with long enough cable to put it on top of my case if plugged from the back? I found a few but the reviews on amazon are quite recent and most are negative. I had an anker 3 port and lasted for 6 months after that it died and I thought it was my mouse. with this new pc I want a bigger port hub. so I can use all my usb peripherals. my pc case is: Phanteks Enthoo Pro TG PH-ES614PTG_BK. mobo: asus tuff B550 cpu: ryzen 5 ram: trident z neo 32GB Gpu: asus Rx 6600 8Gb PSU: seasonic 750W m.2 nvme evo 500GB 1TB hard drive any help is highly appreciated and tnx in advance.

Hi im currently using a Zephyrus-G15 with a Ryzen 5800HS. While looking for usb docks I noticed most of them are thunderbolt which my laptop does not have. Can I just use a thunderbolt dock or does this affect performance. If so, are there alternatives for my situation? Im looking for 4 usb-A, Ethernet, Hmdi (2.0 or higher) or DP (1.4). The most important thing to me is that I can plug everything in with just a single usb-c connection so I dont have to deal with the hassle of plugging everything in again when I use my laptop elsewhere than my desk.

Hi! Recently, I noticed that when I was launching some intensive games/applications, such as AC Valhalla and Cinebench, the LEDs on my Drop CTRL either dim or turn off completely. This also happens with non-intensive games such as Minecraft or Valorant. I looked into it, and this seems to be a reoccurring problem for many Drop CTRL/ALT users. I know that using a power USB hub will fix this problem (hopefully) so I just want some recommendations for what one to get. Preferably sub $25 USD. All this will do is power by CTRL, so no need for more than one port. Also, I will be using a custom cable with this setup, so I want to make sure that it can supply that too. The cable is 3FT long, plus the USB hub. I would like the whole system to be kept under 9 ft if possible, so the USB hub should not have more that a 6ft cable. Thanks for any suggestions!

I need an USB-C hub which connects to my USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 with DP 1.4 port. The Displayport is the most important thing from everything else but I would also need multiple USB-A ports for peripherals and other stuff. The DP should be capable of 1080p at 144 Hz (or 120 Hz im still deciding(or 1440p 120 Hz)).

Looking for a hub where it has 5+ USB 3.0 ports, would be nice with 1 or 2 USB C, but not a game-breaker. If it needs its own power brick, it needs to have a decent length, since it will be going on a standing desk. Would be great if it could be around the 100$ mark. Edit: Will be used with a desktop

I and most of the employees of the company I work for moved from our country after February 24th. One of my colleagues used to work exclusively on a desktop PC, so since we were all in a hurry to leave the country, she grabbed any laptop she saw in a nearby store so that she had something to work with. When the dust settled a little, we started working remotely, because the office (and helpdesk) where not here. And during our meetings, my colleague discovered that the webcam in her laptop was not working at all, so for 2.5 months after that she used her phone for video calls. It's annoying because she can't share her laptop screen. I happened to be in her city today and I am trying to solve this problem. Laptop in question is Asus K513E OLED. In the screenshot below, you can see Device Manager showing this camera, it reads "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)". I uninstalled the webcam drivers and reinstall them from the official Asus support page for this laptop - didn't work. Then I did the same for the chipset driver (I assumed the main USB controller might be on the same die) - same result. I then "updated" the driver for the USB hub device (USB 3.0): "Update Drivers" -> "Search My Computer for Drivers" -> "Let me manually select from a list" -> I chose one option which was available and installed it. After that, for a short time (2-4 minutes), the “Unknown USB device” turned into a “usb2.0 hd uvc webcam”, was detected by zoom, and there was video feed coming from it. Then, after couple of minutes, everything reverted back to where I started. Google doesn't show anything related to this issue and this laptop. Colleague says that neither she nor anyone else has opened this laptop and the camera seems to work fine when properly detected so I don't think it's a cable issue (but I have a screwdriver so opening is possible ). So, is there anyone who has encountered a similar problem and solved it successfully?

I want to be able to connect my work laptop to my private setup with as little effort as possible when I'm working from home. I would prefer to have a single cable connect to my work laptop that allows me to use all my private peripherals. devices I want to be able to use from my work laptop: monitor 1440p ultrawide @ 60hz monitor 1440p 16:9 @ 165hz (no need for this refresh rate when connected to the laptop) usb devices: Audio interface, keyboard, mouse, microphone What sort of solution can I use to have a quick connect with my work laptop but still be able to use my displays at full capability when I'm using my home setup for gaming?

Hi everyone, Does anyone know how to best transfer USB connectivity to another room? I want to have a USB hub in my livingroom, with my PC being in another room. I think about 15 meter minimum is needed of length. I have already talked with a local shop, who are selling a USB extender cable that is 20 meter in length, that have it's own power applied via a small adapter, which is obviously needed for the length, but the guy I talked would not recommend this but I could always order this cable home and test. Anyone here with any experience using power USB cable extenders? Kind regards

I recently bought a 16-powered-port USB Hub (Orico AT2U3-16AB). I noticed an issue when I connected my Logitech G PRO X Superlight wireless receiver to the new USB Hub. Logitech G Hub knows that i connected the GPX but it can't register any clicks or movements. I then tried connecting the wireless receiver back to my old 7-powered-port USB Hub (made by Orico) and it worked. I then repeat this process 1 more time and it does not work again. I then connected my GPX with the included cable back to the old USB hub, it only works in 2 out of 7 usb ports before it finally does not want to work again. I tried updating the drivers via device manager (no luck), opened G Hub and made sure that the GPX & the receiver's firmware are updated, connecting the receiver and mouse directly to the laptop (still no luck), run an sfc /scannow in command prompt as administrator(nothing wrong), restarting and shutting down the laptop. I also tried installing logitech onboard memory manager , logitech connection utility app and it still doesn't work. I then tested another mouse and it's not working. whenever i plugged in the wireless GPX receiver, under windows settings (Bluetooth & other devices) it shows up as USB Receiver. I also tried updating every single USB Controller via device manager (still no luck). Basically i ruled out the problem is not with my peripheral but maybe either the USB Hub or the laptop itself. Trackpad and built-in keyboard are working. What's weird is that the new USB Hub works fine with my keyboard (FL Esports MK750), all keys are registering. but it seems that my microphone (fifine t669) and any mouse that I've connected refuse to register anything on my screen. For more info, my Laptop is an Alienware m15 R5 and it has really limited amount of ports. I noticed an odd behaviour with my old USB hub, when I connected my mic to different ports, it seems to think that I plugged in a new mic. the name of the mic is supposed to be "USB PnP Audio", but now it's "4- USB PnP Audio". I noticed that Alienware's support assist can't download and install certain drivers (I also tried downloading the components from dell's website and it's not working). I don't know if this is related to my issue or not. Peripherals I used with the new Hub : Logitech G933s dongle (asian version of G935), GPX Superlight (receiver & mouse), Fifine t669 (USB Mic), FL Esports MK750 (keyboard) Peripherals I don't use with the new Hub : Topping DX3 Pro+ (DAC+AMP) and Audio Technica ATH-R70X, Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, Huion H950P (drawing tablet), Quest 2. Applications that runs in background: Discord, Voicemeeter Potato, VoiceAttack, Opera GX, Logitech G Hub OS : Windows 10 Version : 10.0.19045 Build 19045 (Already been updated a few days ago) Is there any way to fix it? I'm considering doing a factory reset as of the time of writing this.

Hello, I recently had some EM interference problem with my audio interface so I decided to plug it in a usb 3.0 hub and plug the audio interface into it, that resolved like 70% of the audio crackling and noise that I was hearing (not 100% cause the hub is usb powered). The problem I have now is that the audio cuts off after about 1 min or so, I though it may be the usb hub getting shut off from windows for power management but seems to not be the case after disabling auto shut off from device manager. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I'm having some issues with two of my webcams, a Microsoft Lifecam Studio and a Cinema model. When plugged in one at a time in the usb hub, the only resolution i can select in OBS is 160x120, but they work fine when plugged directly into a usb 2 or 3 port. Thinking it was a bandwidth issue (as it was an old powered usb2 hub) i picked up a powered 3.0 hub, to no avail. Same issue. Other peripherals such as the elgato stream deck works just fine. It's a test setup for moving my streaming pc to a 19" rack in a big closet. Is it a lifecam issue? Other option would be to route cables through the wall directly from the usb ports-

So I want to know if there's any kind of adapter that would take all 3, usb, hdmi and power and merge those into a type-c port for my mini-itx build. My desktop is gonna run a R5 3400g on a a320 mobo, no harddrives, just one m.2 stick, so power consumption will be around 30-120W, but nevertheless I wanna run it off usb type-c. Is this possible in anyway? Or at least merge usb and hdmi, so I can connect to a monitor that supports type-c and has usb ports.
