( https://ebay.us/JBeQU5 ) bc the laptop i was/am using for work is giving me fits and i want to be able to use it to play with learning linux better and other tinkering crap ect. I work from home on a virtual computer so the machine just needs to be strong enough to run the few programs to acess it this was the cheap way to do so. We have to boot from a secure desktop that the company provides the os for (a version of linux) and gotta bpot from a Flash drive works on laptop but my dumb self cant figure it out on this one i will attach pics of the curent settings in the bios as i set them (Yes the flash drive is inserted xD i checked first im almost that dumb but not quite) thank you in advance and please let me know if theres more info needed to help me with this

Hello, I have been trying to install windows from a USB that is bootable and when I select the drive I want to install windows from, a black screen appears. I have a different usb and this problem persists with that one as well. Windows 10 WHQL support is enabled in bios, it is also set to UEFI mode and I have reset cmos with no luck. Hoping to find some here. I tried installing win on other computers with the same usbs and succeeded yet my personal one doesn't wanna work. Also tried legacy + uefi mode with win10 whql support disabled yet that leaves me in a boot loop with no apparent end. Specs Amd ryzen 5 1600 Msi b350 gaming plus Gtx 1060 6gb atx 3.0 Corsair MP500 etc Thank you in advance

I have just finished building my new PC. The bios booted and everything was fine, until I wanted to install windows 10 from a usb boot. The error I got is the spinning dots comes and stops after spinning 1 time and then freezes.I search the web for answers, and at this point I am certain that the problem is at the motherboard and not the install usb. I have re-installed the windows boot on 2 different usb's and even tried on a DVD. Same result every time.I have worked in the bios for some time now, with no luck. I changed the XMP to on. Set the "Windows 10 WHQL Support" to Enabled (and Disabled). Enabled and disabled MSI Fast Boot and Fast Boot. I can't see what I'm missing or what to do / try next.I was thinking on doing a M-Flash update for the BIOS but I'm afraid to brick it if it handles USB the same way with the USB boot. Or if someone can hand walk me in how to setup my bios so it will boot from USB or DVD. Any help is appreciated. I already lost a USB key in the process. Hi all, I just finished putting together a new pc. A z170 deluxe motherboard, I5 6500 CPU. I am trying to install windows using a USB. I made the windows installer using windows media creation tool. The usb drive is a USB 3 Kingston 16gb. Initially I successfully got into the windows installation setup successfully, but I ran into an error stating that I could not install windows in 'drive 0 partition 1'. I guess it is because my ssd drive (Samsung evo 250) wasn't reformatted. So I followed a tutorial that told me to go into the windows setup and enter a command prompt that let me reformatted my ssd. This is where the problems begin. I reformatted the drive and restarted the pc. Now, no matter what, I always go straight to bios, without pressing anything. When I change the boot order and save, a prompt pops up and says no bios settings have been changed! I have tried different usb ports for both my windows usb and keyboard to no avail. Not really sure how to proceed other than reinstall windows into the usb and try again, but that is going to take hours and hours. Failing that I plan to update my bios (??). This is really upsetting as I use this PC for web development work! Any help would be extremely appreciated! Thanks.

So I got my zelf a new SSD and I want to make a clean install and make the SSD my main disk. I made a USB boor key with the tools from windows website for windows 10 (usb is called ESD-USB and is 3.31 GB) But whenever I try to boot it I get a bluescreen with an error called "0xc0000098". I think that I need to change something in my bios of my P8H77-V-LE motherboard to fix this. So my question is if anyone knows how to fix it? Specs Asus P8H77 V LE USB plugged in motherboard Screen plugged in motherboard New 850 EVO SSD 4x4Gb ram Processor Huntkey PSU Just a note. If I reconnect my old drive and start windows from that one its fine.

So I'm returning here to all of you brilliant trouble-solving people with a problem to fix (probably easy fix..?) I've managed to startup my new PC-Build, and entering the UEFI BIOS menu. I've made a bootable USB stick containing Windows 10 64 bit ISO file. I made it following this tutorial (made the USB Drive from my Macbook) Afterwards I re-booted my new desktop computer, with the USB-stick inserted. I did as I thought should be right: - Went to the "Boot" button, chose the USB-stick containing the (hopefully) bootable Win10 ISO, and pressed enter. What happened is that the screen went black, and the picture returned after 3-5 sec, at the same UEFI BIOS menu I was at before pressing "Enter". The same happened as I tried to go into the "Advanced Settings", find the "Boot override" section and choosing the USB Stick once again. My system information: Motherboard: Asus Deluxe z170 CPU: Intel I7 6700k RAM: 2x Hyperx 2133 Mhz 8GBs sticks. GPU: None yet. Case: Fractal design R5. I will past images of the process: The USB-stick connected to a USB 3.0 Front-Panel plugin: The UEFI BIOS before doing anything (with USB inserted): Clicked into "Boot Menu": Scrolled down to the USB stick with arrows on keyboard and pressed "Enter": Screen went black, and then back to this: Then I clicked at "Advanced Settings": Found "Boot Override" and clicked at the USB-stick again: Screen went black again, and it returned to this: Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

So I'm using a s5000psl motherboard (server-board) and I'm trying to USB install windows 7 ultimate x64bit on the hard drives i have hooked up. Everything boots like its supposed to, however there's a problem when I get to the windows install on the HDD (i have two hooked up). I get an error: "Windows Cannot Be Installed to This Disk. This Computer's Hardware May not Support Booting to This Disk." Here are some solutions I've tried: 1. The system reads the HDDs because they're on the screen. I've tried deleting the drives, restarting then trying the "New" option and formatting then trying to install. I get the same error. 2. Going into the BIOS and switching the SATA drive to AHCI (I get the same error as above) 3. I've tried deleting the drives, restarting the hardware, then trying the "New" option and formatting then trying to install the OS. I get the same error. 4. I also tried windows server 2012, since this is a server board... (The system will not read the HDDs because they're not on the screen when I enable AHCI.) SIDE NOTE: >>> The HDDs I have connected don't seem to be displayed in the BIOS as they are hooked up via SATA cables. Could this be a source of my issue?? Please help me try to figure out why this server board or OS is preventing me from installing on the HDDs I have. Do I need to buy new ones? Thank you for your time and consideration.

I already have windows 10 installed, now i want to install windows 7 (because no matter what i do i'm getting 20fps in low 1080p in ac unity where i should get 100+ with my 6700k+fury x). I just torrented a win 7 and the 10 is fake as well.i'm using a very old USB 2.0 pendrive and after starting the setup it gives me this error: a required cd/dvd drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD or floppy disk please insert it now. Note:If the windows installation media is CD or DVD drive, you can safely remove it for the next step. Then after clicking ok: No device drivers were found .Make sure installation media contains the correct driver and click ok. From there i just have to quit.

Hi if anyone could help me out with this issue i'd be very grateful, my issue is.. I'm trying to boot windows 10 from a usb, the issue is tho. I'm using a mac to download the windows ISO and i cant seem to find a software that allows me to actually format the usb. i've been on the windows website and the only tool they offer is the one for windows devices only. if anyone can tell me how to format the usb on a mac so that i can stick the windows file on there i'd appreciate it. or if you can link to a video that will solve my problems or a software similar to the windows one or "rufus - create bootable drives the easy way" i'd also appreciate that  - Feidhelm

Hello! I recently had a power outage and now my system doesn't boot up Problem is, when I have my hard drive plugged in, the bootable windows 7 usb doesn't work, it shows the "loading files" screen but then goes back to trying to start windows normally. When I unplug the hard drive, the usb works and puts me on the normal install screen like it should. I've disabled secure boot and I think I have set the parameters so that legacy mode is enabled, but it still doesn't work. Why doesn't the usb work when I have a hard drive plugged in and how can I fix that?

Hey guys! I got on older (2006) computer from my sister that she has trashed software-wise, so I have some questions. First. do the C, and D drives act like two different drives that I could have different windows installations on? They each have 140 gb storage each and If it is possible, I would keep one for vista (as a backup) and the other for the Windows 10 preview. Second. If the first question's answer is no, can writing a partition on the empty drive allow me to boot from said partition without easing the Vista installation? Again, I would like to have Vista as a backup just in case, and again, The drive in question has about 130+ gb free. And third. I do not have a 4+ gb flash drive on hand to use as a boot drive, HOWEVER, I do have a 16 gb sd card that i could use. The problem is though, that the laptop does not support booting from the SD slot. my question is Can I use an adapter to use the SD card like a usb drive? The computer displays the adapter as a usb drive. Thanks for whatever help you give me!

Hey guys, I am trying to get USB booting to work on my c720 (2nd gen) and when I type crossystem it gives the list of crossystem commands as usual, but several of them say (error) instead of 0 or 1. I have typed the commands dev_boot_usb=1, dev_boot_legacy=1 but they both say that the command is write-protected. I am running the developer shell, and I made sure to update it sudo bash then chromeos-firmwareupdate --mode=todev but it still doesn't work. Do I need to make the something writable? I saw somewhere that you should make rootfs writable. Let me know what I should do!
