REMINDER: this thread is not to ask questions about your PC. Please create a NEW thread if you still have issues after going through this thread. So, you've put together your brand new, shining rig. You plug in the power cord and push the button. Nothing happens. What now? The answer depends on what is happening: The machine doesn't do anything. No beeps, LEDs or spinning fans. Check if your power cable is firmly plugged in on both ends (you would be surprised how many issues this resolves) Check if the power supply (PSU) has a button to cut the power to the machine. Check if this button is in the position denoted with ON or I Check if EVERY power cable is plugged in securely, reseat if necessary. Check if the power button is installed correctly (consult your motherboard manual) Try shorting out the pins you connect the power button to manually. If this powers on your system, you have a faulty power button. Check with a device of which you know that it works if the power outlet you're using is actually providing power. If this hasn't solved the problem, check if your PSU isn't dead. To do this, you can follow these steps: Unplug your power cord and/or flip the switch on the back of the PSU in the position denoted with OFF or 0 Unplug every connector coming from your PSU (this is very important) Using a bent paperclip, short out the green wire on the 24 pin header with any of the black wires, like so. If you have a PSU that shuts down its fan under low load, or a PSU that is fanless, connect something small like a hard drive to it. Plug in your power cord and/or flip the switch on the back of the PSU in the position denoted with ON or I If the PSU does NOT power on (the fan/hard drive you connected should start spinning) after following these steps, your PSU is in all likelyhood defective. Request an RMA. If the PSU DOES power on, then the problem is most likely your motherboard. The machine does power up, but my screen remains black (no POST). Make sure your BIOS version is compatible with the CPU generation you're trying to run in your motherboard, you can consult the manual or the manufacturer's website about this. Check if EVERY power cable is connected. Auxiliary power connectors included. Make sure the cable coming from your monitor is attached securely to the graphics card. Also make sure it is securely attached to the monitor itself. Make sure your PSU is powerful enough to power your complete system. Try booting the system with only a monitor but no other peripherals connected. (Thanks @Steven Schaefer) Make sure your monitor works by testing it on a different computer. If you have both a dedicated GPU and an iGPU, try your monitor on both the outputs on the graphics cards as well as on the motherboard. When trying the iGPU, if the board has VGA out, try that too instead of just digital out. (Discovered by @evening) Make sure all connectors and cables are plugged in securely, reseat if necessary. Make sure your RAM, CPU and GPU are plugged in securely, reseat if necessary. Remove riser cables between GPU and motherboard. If this solves the issue, try lowering your PCIe version/speed in the bios to PCIe 3 or lower (Thanks @problemsolver) If the motherboard you're using has debug LEDs, check the error code and consult the motherboard manual to see what it means. If you have a debug speaker connected to the motherboard, note the beep sequence and consult the motherboard manual or this thread to see what it means. Try clearing your CMOS. Try booting your computer with only a motherboard, CPU and one stick of RAM attached (if you don't have an iGPU, plug in your GPU as well ). Make sure your GPU works (if you have a dedicated one), try it in another computer. Make sure your RAM works, try it another computer. Make sure the RAM is compatible with your CPU and your motherboard. If the PC still doesn't POST after this, create a new thread and, as explained here, post IN FULL DETAIL about your problem. Make sure you include the following: System configuration Troubleshooting steps you already did Any additional information that may be relevant. Lastly, if you find any mistakes/grammatical errors, inaccuracies or missing steps in this post, please do post them in a comment so I can fix it. PS: @TheXDS has posted how you can do some more in depth checking of the internal circuitry of you PSU. The only thing you need is a multimeter or potentiometer (if you're oldschool :D). You can find his post at http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/42440-readme-how-to-respond-to-a-no-post-or-no-power-up-situation/?p=4561958

Hello, so I have had this weird problem where I boot my computer, (this only happens at random) but I boot, windows launches pretty quick, but I dont see the bios screen (which i usually do when i boot) and i see that my windows profile pictute is blank. When I get in, I cannot open file explorer at all or if I do it'll take any time to open and it wont show me all my documents, i cant access my HDD or SSD or anything its literally just a blank, very slow booting, flie explorer. I also cant open anything on the task bar like notifications, start button wont even bring up the start apps, but I can use my computer, like google, be in a meeting, watch videos, what not. Its just kind of frustrating because I think I am able to go play a game but It wont let me because obviously i cant acess any folders, causing me to restart the computer, most likely booting it correctly. I've seen like a weird hdd or something that says boot manager? is that my issue? do i delete it? what should i even do, i am currently in class and its on this weird boot that i cant open file explorer or just yes that problem. Its really weird, I dont know whats causing it. I took a screenshot of what my file explorer looks like, and i cant even open the screenshots folder, in order to do so i must restart the pc and share it afterwards.

Momoland are back with their new single 'Thumbs Up' which is their first comeback since two members had left in Taeha and Yeonwoo, and one in Daisy whose future is still hangs by a thread. With a five-member lineup, Momoland are returning with a familiar style and aim to capture the same audiences that their previous songs such as I'm So Hot and Bboom Bboom captivated so well. Having followed Momoland since the inception of Bboom Bboom, I've been closely following their activities such as Baam, I'm So Hot, and indeed now, Thumbs Up. I've been anticipating a Momoland comeback and when Thumbs Up came up, I was excited to listen to it. Today, I'll be going through Thumbs Up, analysing it, and giving my thoughts and opinions on the song at a critical level. I love Momoland so my bias will definitely show. 0:04 - Hyebin has such soft, seductive, and airy vocals in this beginning which is accented by the subtle undertone in a lower octave which gives her main vocals some more body and structure. The low, earthy, grounded bass is a nice contrast to the highs in Hyebin’s vocals. 0:18 - Nancy’s part here raises the tone of the song a lot since now the song has Nancy’s girly and feminine fragrant vocals which are also accompanied by the instrumentals being a touch higher as well. Nancy’s vocals also have a soft resonant undertone which also gives her vocals a lot more depth. Nancy’s voice is so cute, soft, and elegant to listen to here. 0:33 - The instrumentals almost go half-time and depress a lot during Ahin’s part here, her vocals explode since she has the astounding power voice and it’s utilised very well here. The continuous clapping builds up a lot of hype and energy especially since Ahin’s voice is also high and mighty in its volume. 0:41 - Jane comes in with the same amount of energy and character to really build up this pre-chorus, the instrumentals in the back are slowly rising which again builds up the energy and hype of the song to flow into the chorus. 0:47 - This song has such an EDM-style to it, it’s so heavy on instrumentals and the beat does the talking, with mainly JooE here shouting “THUMBS UP!” to accentuate the rhythm and energy of the chorus here. Definitely a song I could head-bang too and also sing along to in this chorus. 1:02 - This trumpet-like instrument (can’t quite point to what it is exactly) has a nice subtle rhythm to it which is catchy, especially since followed by the members’ “la la la la la la la” which is a nice extension to the chorus. 1:17 - The instrumentals here drop down a touch and dive into the lows to allow JooE and her acute rapping style to take shape. Momoland is known for swerving eccentric raps into their second verses and it appears Thumbs Up is no exception. I love that JooE gets the spotlight this time as she’s easily one of the most energetic and bubbly members in the group. 1:32 - This second part to the verse follows the same formula as the first verse, especially since Jane’s lines follow the same rhythm similar to Nancy’s “hot hot issue issue” as her first verse, which I like as it steers the composition back into the rhythm after the rap swerve. 2:01 - The chorus is amazingly catchy, it’s so easy to follow along with and vibe with. Momoland love their EDM-style choruses and Thumbs Up is awesome. 2:31 - This switch-up in tempo into a seductive and sexy vocal performance from Nancy is great, she has this beautifully gravitating voice and the instrumentals toning down but still keeping the highs is such a great accompaniment to her singing here. 2:46 - This final chorus with Hyebin’s ad libs are great, it brings even more energy to an already sugary chorus. Despite being a five-member group, Thumbs Up is easily one of my favorite Momoland songs, next to Bboom Bboom in an obvious number one. Thumbs Up has the flair, charisma, and energy that I have grown to love out of any and all Momoland title songs, and the amazing vocals from the likes of Jane, Ahin, and Nancy are no exception. Nancy in particular captivated me a lot in this song, her singing style this comeback was somehow the most mature she'd ever been and the most cutely-sexy. Her 'hot hot issue issue' in the first verse was easily repeatable as it was equal parts cute and sexy. Same goes for her part in the bridge, she has such a graceful and beautiful humming in her part of the bridge and it completed the song so well. Ahin's stellar vocal performance is also not to go unnoticed, she excelled and stood out as being easily the best vocal-wise, her vocals exploded and she nailed every single note. Thumbs Up is a song I can easily have on repeat, it's such a great song, thanks to the amazing vocals, catchy chorus instrumental line, and the energy and character that all five members exuded throughout the song.

Hello everyone ! I am soon about to move into a personal office, in which I am going to work on different web design projects that I am currently working on my Asus k555l laptop. My main dilemma right now is this - Should I get a new set-up all together, desktop monitor etc. for the sake of different resolution testing (my laptop is only 1366x768p so I have to zoom in and out on browsers to simulate other resolutions) and for better performance (this laptop is kind of struggling with Photoshop's newer versions at higher res images) or should I continue working mainly on my laptop and just get a Full HD monitor so I can preview my projects on it? Current laptop has a i5-5200U dual core at max 2.7 Ghz GeForce 940M with 2 gigs of memory 1TB hard drive 15.6'' display at 1366x768 res and 6 gigs of RAM Honestly I dont really have any idea what I should be aiming at if I decide to get a desktop. Probably something like an i5 again but quad core? I am guessing the 940 GeForce with 2gigs is gonna do just fine as a desktop version compared to the mobile one I have right now. The hard drive doesnt really matter, currently I am working on small projects, none of which go over a gigabyte of memory in total so storage isnt really an issue at this point, maybe an upgrade later on will be required though. I am planing to use 2 monitors in both cases, weather I bring my laptop or I get a new desktop And trying not to blow a budget of 600-ish dollars. So which option would make more sense in my current scenario ? Thanks in advance !

Hello All, I am currently looking into building a Windows computer and I would like to know if there's a way to wireless setup a monitor to the tower. I would like to take the monitor with me to other places and work it either wireless keyboard and/or wireless mouse, not be stuck with the tower. I would like to know if there are ways to achieve this. Thanks in advance for all inputs.

So my PC is doing very strange things. When my PC is under load playing certain games the lamp in my room flickers in correspondence to the stuttering of the fps in game and as well as the metrics in msi afterburner. As the game stutters and the msi stats go up and down my lamp flickers at the same rate. Ive posted images below to what happens in msi afterburner.. My temps are fine from what I can see. I know its a bit hot but people with the same gpu as me get the same temps. I thought it might be a power issue so I replaced my power supply and gpu but the problem didn't go away. I don't think its my FX-8350 bottlenecking my gtx 970 cause a friend of mine has an fx-6300 and a gtx 970 and doesn't experience the issues. Anyone have any ideas? This is my first post sorry if I am breaking any rules. Also i'm not sure If I need to include my specs cause I have them detailed on my profile. P.S I would like to include that this issue only happens in certain games.

I don't know what happened. One day I was using my computer, when I noticed a slight drop in performance. Upon checking Task Manager, I noticed that System Interrupts was taking around 15% of my CPU. I did some research, and did everything it asked me to, except update my BIOS cause I don't trust myself. To attempt to end System Interrupts reign of terror I did all of these. - Stopped USB Root Hubs, and other unnecessary stuff in Device Manager. - Changed my power cord (I don't understand how that works) - Ran all sorts of driver checking and hardware checking stuff, nothing was irregular - After all of this I tried COMPLETELY REINSTALLING WINDOWS, there was a slight change but it still takes around 7% at all times. I'm kinda getting tired of it, so I figured someone here would know what to do. My specs are: NVidia GTX 660 Ti AMD A4-6300 Crucial 4GB DDR3 RAM 3 fans that I don't know the name of (does it ever matter?) Some MSI motherboard because the makers are too lazy to say which one And some power supply because, again, the makers were too lazy to list it.

I recently bought a Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1060 6gb Windforce to replace a 960 on the black friday sales. It's a good card and works great. However, recently whenever I start up my computer, it always blackscreens and my monitor will turn off because it wont detect the computer. Restarting does not work. The only things that works is turning off the power supply with the switch, flipping the switch and booting it up again. Even then it's really slow to show display. It's a pain to do this every time. The card never used to do this this when I first got it. Is there a way to fix this besides getting a replacement? I'd prefer not to send it back for a replacement due to not having a GPU for that time period.

Hello guys. Almost a week ago, I made a third instagram account. I was logged in to all the 3 of them from my phone. Suddenly, other people stories couldn't load on my main account. The others are fine. I tried manually stop instagram from the settings, I cleared the cache, reinstalled it, got an update but nothing. From the pc, I can't see the stories as usual, but not on my phone. I'm running the latest Android and Instagram version ( not beta). Have you got any ideas?

Hi, I've been trying to determine how to stop an annoying windows 10 nvidia pop up which causes my secondary display to flicker whilst watching movies and gaming. It appears each 1-2hours which is driving me insane. My setup: Display 1: Sony KDL55w800c via HDMI Display 2: Benq xl2420g via Display port. My first display is used in my Living room. Second is in my office. I'm hopping to be able to use both display at the same. Any help with trying to fix this would be great. Cheers.

What is the best articulating monitor arm? I will be using them for a triple monitor setup soon. Requirements: Desk mounted Move up and down and at least adjustable side to side Tilting The current one I am looking at is this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BBHJK86/ref=sspa_dk_detail_4?pd_rd_i=B07BBHJK86&pd_rd_wg=MFa0C&pd_rd_r=27T3MR5V7SVW5ZHHRSR4&pd_rd_w=6qShC&th=1 It seems like a good choice but its review are limited, I'd like to make sure what I do buy is going to be good in the long-run.

I just bought a brand new Corsair HS50 Headset. The build quality is superb, the audio is great, the microphone is decent. The whole package is a great deal for around 50-56 USD. HOWEVER, The microphone picks up any audio that is playing through the headset. Say, I am listening to music while recording speech using the HS50 Microphone it also picks up the music. When playing games specifically Rules of Survival it also picks up the audio that is playing through the headset. I want to know if this is hardware issue or software. I am using Asus x542UQ laptop Combo 3.5mm Jack WIndows 10, 64-bit

Hello everyone, so I have started to transform my set up (from one 4k monitor and 2 1080p monitors) into a triple 4k set up. This is NOT to game in super wide 4k to be clear. I just game on the middle monitor, but I want the nice smooth transition to the side monitors (using 1080p monitors on the sides make the mouse go wonky and create scaling issues) so I want the same resolution for all. What would be a good graphics card for this? I'm currently running a gtx970 strix. 4GB but it only has a single DP.

Hello, I have an ASUS Z170-A motherboard, every time I turn my computer on the ASUS logo bios screen takes around 10-15 seconds. If I look inside my case I can see red LEDs turning on and off, there is one for CPU, GPU, RAM and so on. Is there any way to speed this up or to skip this process entirely?

Hi, When I press the power button, nothing happens. There's no BIOS post and none of the components power up. The only sign of power is the motherboard lighting up. The only way to power up the system is to hold down the power button for a few seconds until the CMOS button lights up, press the power button once and flip the PSU switch OFF and back ON. The system immediately powers up when I flip the PSU switch on. While the system is on, I have no issues using the PC normally. When I shutdown the PC, I cannot power it back on by hitting the case power switch and I have to repeat the same process to power it up. When I built the system in 2015, I did not have this issue. This only started happening 2 years later shortly after swapping my graphics card, adding some sleeved extensions and redoing some cable management. So far, I've tried: - Clearing the CMOS and removing the battery - Removing CPU overclock and XMP profile - Updating the BIOS - Plugging the PC to a different wall socket - Removing the sleeved extensions - Running the system in a test bench outside the case without the hard drives connected - Taking the MB, CPU, RAM and PSU to the shop for troubleshooting (Guy told me there were no issues). I simply for the life of me cannot figure out what the issue is. I'm pretty sure the graphics card is not the issue as I've tried 3 different cards and the problem still persists. I'm suspecting that it's either the Motherboard, RAM, PSU or a short somewhere that's preventing the system to boot. Specs: CPU: i7 5820K Motherboard: MSI X99S SLI Plus Memory: Kingston HyperX Predator 4x4GB, 2400Mhz GPU: GTX 1080 Ti PSU: Cooler Master V1000 Any suggestions on what to do? Thanks in advance

So I've now had this microphone, Audio Technica AT2020 XLR-version not the usb one, for a couple of years. I finally got more into recording YouTube and Livestreaming, but there is just one problem that irritates me and lowers the quality of my content by a whole lot. The microphone already is quite sensitive and picks up my voice very loudly, but it also picks up the keyboard as loud as my voice. I have lowered the volume as such that my voice is not too loud or not too quiet, but the keyboard noise is just haunting me. The keyboard I use is Razer Blackwidow ultimate, a mechanical keyboard, but even though the keyboard is loud normally, I have tried my other keyboard, Logitech G510, which I'm not sure if it is a mechanical keyboard, but it is very quiet and my Skype/Teamspeak friends say it sounds as loud through the microphone as the Razer keyboard. I have a boom arm for the microphone, as well as a shock mount. I have tried placing the microphone in other locations, currently it is about 0.5 meters above the keyboard front side facing towards me, but I tried how it sounded when I placed the microphone: Behind the monitor = Both me and keyboard still loud, in the corner of the room behind the desk = Keyboard still loud me not so much, behind me about 2 meters of distance on the floor = Keyboard loud and I can barely be heard. So I'm here to ask if anyone's got any settings to try changing or try out a 3rd party program, I've read a bunch of the very few forum posts on this same topic, but non of them have really worked and I'd really like to fix this issue because it's not very nice to hear friends complain about the keyboard when playing and having to use push to talk to minimize the noise that others would have to hear through the microphone. Sorry for the long text for a simple issue, but I just wanted to be as specific as possible.

Hi, so i just bought a new headset, a steelseries 9h. its really good and all but there is one little thing that bothers me, and it is that the mic picks up subtle hints of audio from the earcup itself when the volume is turned up high or in the case of higher frequencies/ higher pitched sound. I have noise cancellation turned on and acoustic echo cancellation turned on aswell. Any idea what is wrong?
