Hello I’m a new member to this forum and I know decent bit about pc building and such but definitely not an advanced builder. I’m planning to get my first build and I’m stuck on picking my gpu. I’m stuck between RX 6600 and Rtx 3050 and here is why. Before I did any research I was planning to buy rtx 3050 and I was fine with paying 300 euro and it was a bit over the budget but i didn’t mind it. Then I stumbled across the rx6600 and after comparing both I was planning to buy the rx6600 because of the better performance and of the much much cheaper price. But today I was looking at a rx6600 performance testing video for Fortnite(that’s what I mainly play) and in lot of those videos people were complaining about dx12 performing 2x better then performance mode for all amd gpus and that the game is heavily unoptimised for amd gpus(if anyone is unfamiliar with Fortnite, performance mode is supposed to wipe the floor with dx12). So now I don’t know what to go for. Rtx 3050 which the rx6600 absolutely destroys in any benchmark for 300euro or go for rx6600 which is heavily unoptimised for the games I play for 220euro. If anyone could help that would be great. I’ll be sure to include the build below incase any of you need to come to conclusion based off of the other parts. pc parts: i3 12100f Deep cool ag400 Gigabyte b660m ds3h Kingston fury beast 2x8gb Crucial p3 1tb Rx 6600 or rtx 3050 Fractal design focus 2 thermaltake smart bm2 650w

Hello, I'm building my first PC and I'm quite confused. I have a case with three Jupiter AJ120 aRGB fans daisy chained in the front and a 120mm Thermaltake fan in the back and im not sure which fan header to plug the daisy chained fans nor the rear fan into on my Asrock B450m Pro 4. Looking at the instructions pages attached I should put the three daisy chained fans in the number 17 spot right? is that what CHA FAN3 means its for three fans? and where does the rear case fan go, in either 2 or 16? also can the aRGB (24) header handle three fans RGB daisy chained?. thanks.

Budget: CAD 800$ or less Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: steam games mostly Other details: I'm building this machine from scratch and have been choosing parts based on recommendations, YouTube (linus) and my own knowledge (very stupid) and I'm basically looking for a evaluation of my part choices, mostly importantly my cpu and motherboard, although the case and storage haven't been purchased yet either, rather than type out all the parts Ive just attached a screenshot hope thats cool. I want a machine that'll run most games at 1080p or 1280p, or any 16:9 ratio at medium graphic settings, Im used to playing on minimum settings at 680p with 20 fps so anything is an improvement!

Hey, I made an earlier post about this build but this is a more refined list with a few updated parts compared to my last list. I would like to get some feedback about the build and if it would be worth the money. Parts list PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/gLYYXH CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i v2 70.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler Motherboard: Asus Z170-DELUXE ATX LGA1151 Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Storage: Western Digital BLACK SERIES 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 8GB SC Gaming ACX 3.0 Video Card (Superclocked) Case: Corsair 750D ATX Full Tower Case Power Supply: Cooler Master 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home Full - USB 32/64-bit Case Fan: Corsair CO-9050016-BLED 52.2 CFM 120mm Fans Case Fan: Corsair SP120 57.2 CFM 120mm Fan Total: $1789.15 My main uses for this device will be... Adobe Photoshop (working with quad HD possibly 4k Photography) Artrage Beamng.drive (Highest settings at 60fps) Subnautica (Highest settings at 60fps) Mafia 3 (Highest Settings) Gears Of War 4 (Highest Settings) Grand Theft Auto 5 (highest settings at 60fps) No Man's Sky (highest settings at 60fps) VR (Oculus rift/HTC vive in the future) Obviously I won't be using it for much. My biggest concern as far as CPU and GPU is for Beamng.drive, No Man's Sky, and Photoshop. I'm just trying to get the best performance without spending hellish amounts. Let me know what you think. Is this overkill or am I hitting all the right points. I am totally open to suggestions. Thanks.

So today I experimented on my PC bc I saw I could push my memory higher than it said on the back of the mobo's box and it worked but I pushed it until it didn't boot, and then it seemed to have not worked on previously good frequencies, then I reserved it to DHCP or what and set everything for optimal settings and got into windows to test it because I couldn't do it sooner and it failed do to the 3dmark cpu test which it could do easily earlier. Tried lot of stuff, in Aida 64 I benchmarked memory and cache and it was good but it couldn't stand stress test not even sometimes for a second, I put new thermal paste on it but nothing new happened. In Windows its stable but if I'm playing, after a few minutes of r6s it shuts down. What can I do to get it back to original?

First of all, thank you for opening this topic to check it out.. I'm normally the guy that deals with the tech stuff alone but this time it's different, I can't figure it out. I'm unable to find the exact version of my motherboard, and therefore I cant update the bios for it to accept my new cpu. I've checked almost every variation of my motherboard on the asus websiete but in the downloadable "user manual" it never showed me the exact board I'm using. The specific thing I'm going on about is that I have 3x Sata 3gb Connections and 1x Sata 6gb connection. Almost 90% of the boards I checked the manuals of had Sata 3gb x4 , none of 3 of (3gb) and 1 of (6gb) So I never could find the exact bios to update the board, and I'm in a real dead-end here. I currently use a i5 2400 cpu, and in a few days I'll be getting a i7 3770, It's the same LGA 1155 socket, but I'm afraid if it'll work for me without a updated bios, as in the cpuZ , it shows the bios version was last updated 2011 -ish... and the i7 3770 was released a year or 2 later.. I don't know if my board will be damaged if I use the same socket CPU but it not being compatable, I'm really .. just lost.. I have no idea what I should do.. Some versions of my motherboard support 8gb of ram , some 16gb. Some support 2nd Gen i3 i5 i7 & 3rd Gen i3 i5 i7 ... I just really really need some help this time ... I can't do this on my own. My really old motherboard is just.. a real problem I guess. The information about my system I took snips and uploaded them as images. I'll check the topic frequently, multiple times a day... and if you decide to help me, thank you from the bottom of my heart, because I truely am really lost and confused on what might happen if my cpu and motherboard are same socket but not compatible due to the old bios version. If you can help in any way... please do , I would really really appericiate it.. And thank you again..

my laptop has a factory overclocked 1070, i checked the clock speed on Dell's support assistant video card stress test and also on MSI after burner and both say that the frequency is above 1800 mhz, which is even more than a 1070, i am wondering how thats even possible, wont the card draw too much power or give off too much heat i am just wondering how this is sustained

Hello LTT Forum. I got myself a new phone recently and did discover "uncompressed" format at my camera app (TIFF) so I did choose that as internal space were no problem. BUT... I did sync my phone into my desktop and I got a bunch of TIFF copies of DNG files that are 30-40mb each. So my question is: Am I suppose to do something in the next step to merge them? (PS or Lightroom?) as I want the best possible quality out of it. Deleting the DNG files and keeping the TIFF is wrong right? Just want to preserve the photos in the best way... and I am not sure what to do next. Thanks

I transported my desktop back from university yesterday. All was fine before leaving however when setting up everything at home there is no output from the GPU. The fans are spinning on the card, I've tried reseating it but to no success. Currently the computer will output from the motherboard dvi (suggesting the GPU is broken) At uni I was using a mini display port to DVI cable for my main display, here I only have DVI and HDMI. Could that be the cause? Or has my GPU suddenly died? Thanks

Hello everyone. So I decided I'd have a crack at overclocking my i7 4970k today. I did a bit of research, saw watched someone else do it on youtube with the same motherboard as me. I do exactly what they do but it hasn't work? halp. Specs: Z97 MSI Gaming 5 Motherboard GTX 970 20GB Vengeance RAM i7 4970k Corsair air 540 Corsair 750w PSU Basically I went into the bios and changed the CPU frequency from 40 to 44 and then changed the CPU voltage to 1.140. In 'my PC' it shows up saying 4.00GHz 4.40GHz" but in CPUZ and Cinebench it comes up with stock speeds and I just don't know what to do. Any help would be hugely appropriated.

Hello All, I'm lacking ideas on what to do with this spare pc it's got a new SSD, I've already built a weather station running on linux jessie, a cloud server on some linux distro which also doubles as a backup machine for my whole home network however I'm lacking ideas on what to do with this second pc. I've been reading about an arcade machine running old NES & mega drive games but I already have a ton of that stuff on my original xbox hooked up to an old arcade machine. I've got another PC for my sim racing RIG. however I'm really unsure hence this post. Any ideas? What have you guys been doing with extra PC's laying around the shop? Thankyou and regards! end.

Hello all! This is my first time actually putting a computer together on my own, so i'm not sure if i have everything in order. The first thing that i did was went to pcpartpicker and simply put in everything that i have as of now (minus the ram, mouse, keyboard, and cpu cooler, i simply added those to fill the gap in since what i have currently isn't on that website). What i'm actually looking to do is make sure that the motherboard and processor is compatible with the case, graphics card, and power supply that i currently have with me. I'm having to buy a new cpu and board simply because my old inspiron 660 had an 1155 socket processor and micro atx board that doesnt have pci 3 (at least that's what best buy tech support told me ). Any help or input on what i should do or if anything needs changed would be great! PCPARTPICKER- http://pcpartpicker.com/p/tTPhnQ

Heyoo, Noticing a high pitch squealing when playing some games, especially ones that push above and beyond a certain fps. It's not audible from the system itself, only through audio equipment (namely my stereo system, headphones have no issue). Is this coil whine? Never experienced it before, hoping I can make it disappear... GPU: EVGA 780ti Superclocked PSU: Seasonic X 650W

Hello, lately on my Google chrome, (i haven't checked IE) I have been getting a message that says that my Java needs to be updated. I have gone to the official Java site and updated to the latest, and have still been getting that message. I may do a scan eventually, but i would like your feedback. Is this legit? I have never clicked on the box thingy. Here is the pic:

Hello LTT members I know that there are probably millions of similar topics.. But im asking this anyway. After much pondering and concideration i've decided to go for AMD gpu's (yes. Plural) for my next upgrade. I'll still get a G-sync monitor so i can benefit from that when i decide to defect to the green team. However.. Right now im having a hard time choosing which R9 card to go for.. I'll buy ASUS no matter which card i choose (since i've only had good experiences with their Products so far) There's the R9 280x with the Direct CUII cooler Gpu Clock:1000mhz Memory: 3gig GDDR5 at 6000mhz And a 384bit bus. Price 2690kr.(413$ usd) 5380kr for two. (826$ usd) Or the R9 290x with the reference cooler. Gpu Clock: 1000mhz Memory: 4gig GDDR5 at 5000mhz And a 512bit Bus Price 4790kr.(735$ usd) 9580kr for two. (1470$ usd) First question: Does the extra memory and bus make the 290x Worth 2100kr extra? (in terms of performace increase) Second question: Since i am planning to watercool the cards the coolers don't really matter too much. But since the 280x is a non-reference card i wonder if there are any major benefits to the non reference design? Beefier Power delivery? Higher overclocking capabilities? or anything else like that? over the 290x's reference design. Third question: Would there be any Point in waiting a bit to see if there will be any Non-reference R9 290x's? (I am upgrading from a pair of asus 2gig V2 7850's that are clocked to 1050 and have a 256bit bus) I'll mostly use the cards for 1080p gaming and some video editing. Preferably on High-Ultra settings in newer titles. Any help would be appreciated. (my motto is usually "overkill is underrated" but i'll have to hold my wallet a bit tighter on this one)

Here is a link to it on PCPARTPICKER - http://pcpartpicker.com/p/ZHZVmG What do you guys think, and what should I change? Obviously I need an SSD but there are so many that I don't know which ones are good. I am trying to decide between the Intel 730, Samsung 840 Evo, and Crucial Mx100 I am also unsure about the Motherboard, Memory, and the PSU Are there better options out there? For example should I get G.Skill memory of the Kingston Beast and do I need 32GB? Thanks,

Hello everyone. recently i made a post about worth of overclocking when i play at 1080 only, the respinses was a clear yes. so i watched tech tips (ncix) guide on overclocking a 2600k intel i7 cpu, and i watched it carefully several times on my laptop besides me, while i was in the bios (Msi z77a-g43 motherboard) and i began, first at 4.2ghz and my pc started perfectly no problems at all and my temps was looking good (25 iddle and 62 unbder full load for 30 minutes). so i started to turn up the pace a little, and went straight at 4.4ghz, (iddle 28 and load 65) and ran prime95 for 45 minutes here, my result made me feel comfortable and i restarted the bios and turned my oc up to 4.5ghz, due to a respons in my previous thread - where a fellow member said that with my watercooler (Cooler master seidon 120mm) i could probally sqeez about 4.2 - 4.5 ghz out of my cpu. so i left it here and went on to work for 7 hours. now after 7 hours of stress testing with prime95 im looking this: 4500mhz 1248 core voltage (sometimes going to 1256 core voltage) Temperaturs, using Realtemp gt 3.70 im looking at these numbers: for 7 hours of prime95 with real temp gt open: 54 (with 57 maximum) 62 (64 maximum) 62 (64 maximum) 59 (62 maximum) am i safe to proceed the test for another 18 hours ? Regards Kaarmaa
